Simeon Peter a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours inby the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: |

by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises so that through thesethem you may escapebecome partakers of the divine nature having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of passionsinful and become partakers of the divine nature desire |
| 1:8 |
For if these thingsqualities are yours and aboundare increasing they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ |
| 1:9 |
For whoever lacks these thingsqualities is blindso andnearsighted shortsightedthat andhe hasis blind having forgotten that he was cleansed from his oldformer sins |
| 1:10 |
Therefore brethrenbrothers be all the more zealousdiligent to confirm your callcalling and election for if you dopractice thisthese qualities you will never fall; |

soFor in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ |
| 1:12 |
Therefore I intend always to remind you of these thingsqualities though you know them and are established in the truth that you have |

I think it right as long as I am in this body to arousestir you up by way of reminder |
| 1:14 |
since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon as our Lord Jesus Christ showedmade clear to me |
| 1:15 |
And I will seemake toevery iteffort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things |
| 1:18 |
we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven for we were with him on the holy mountain |
| 1:19 |
And we have the prophetic word made more surefully Youconfirmed to which you will do well to pay attention to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts |

Firstknowing this first of all you must understand this that no prophecy of scriptureScripture iscomes afrom mattersomeones of ones own interpretation |

becauseFor no prophecy was ever cameproduced by the impulsewill of man but men movedspoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit spoke from God |

And many will follow their licentiousnesssensuality and because of them the way of truth will be reviled blasphemed |
| 2:3 |
And in their greed they will exploit you with false words; fromTheir ofcondemnation oldfrom theirlong condemnationago hasis not been idle and their destruction hasis not been asleep |
| 2:4 |
For if God did not spare the angels when they sinned but cast them into hell and committed them to pitschains of nethergloomy gloomdarkness to be kept until the judgment; |
| 2:5 |
if he did not spare the ancient world but preserved Noah a herald of righteousness with seven otherothers persons when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; |
| 2:6 |
if by turning the cities of Sodom and Gomor′rahGomorrah to ashes he condemned them to extinction andmaking made them an example toof thosewhat whois weregoing to behappen to the ungodly; |
| 2:7 |
and if he rescued righteous Lot greatly distressed by the licentiousnesssensual conduct of the wicked |
| 2:8 |
for byas what that righteous man sawlived andamong heardthem asday heafter livedday among them he was vexedtormenting in his righteous soul dayover after day with their lawless deeds that he saw and heard; |
| 2:9 |
then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trialtrials and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment |
| 2:10 |
and especially those who indulge in the lust of defiling passion and despise authority Bold and wilfulwillful they aredo not afraidtremble toas revilethey blaspheme the glorious ones |
| 2:11 |
whereas angels though greater in might and power do not pronounce a revilingblasphemous judgment uponagainst them before the Lord |
| 2:12 |
But these like irrational animals creatures of instinct born to be caught and killeddestroyed revilingblaspheming inabout matters of which they are ignorant will also be destroyed in thetheir same destruction with them |

suffering wrong as the wage for their wrongdoing They count it pleasure to revel in the daytime They are blots and blemishes reveling in their dissipationdeceptions carousingwhile they feast with you |
| 2:15 |
Forsaking the right way they have gone astray; theyThey have followed the way of Balaam the son of Be′orBeor who loved gain from wrongdoing |
| 2:16 |
but was rebuked for his own transgression; a dumbspeechless assdonkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophets madness |
| 2:17 |
These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm; forFor them the nether gloom of utter darkness has been reserved |
| 2:18 |
For utteringspeaking loud boasts of folly they entice withby licentioussensual passions of the flesh menthose who haveare barely escapedescaping from those who live in error |
| 2:19 |
They promise them freedom but they themselves are slaves of corruption; forFor whatever overcomes a manperson to that he is enslaved |
| 2:20 |
For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ they are again entangled in them and overpoweredovercome the last state has become worse for them than the first |
| 2:22 |
ItWhat the true proverb says has happened to them: according to the true proverb The dog turnsreturns back to hisits own vomit and the sow isafter washedwashing onlyherself returns to wallow in the mire |
| 3:1 |
This is now the second letter that I haveam writtenwriting to you beloved andIn in both of them I haveam arousedstirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder; |

Firstknowing this first of all you must understand this that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing following their own passionssinful desires |
| 3:4 |
andThey sayingwill say Where is the promise of his coming For ever since the fathers fell asleep all things haveare continuedcontinuing as they were from the beginning of creation |
| 3:5 |
TheyFor they deliberately ignoreoverlook this fact that by the word of God heavens existed long ago and anthe earth was formed out of water and through water by meansthe word of water God |
| 3:6 |
throughand whichthat by means of these the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished |
| 3:7 |
But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist haveare been stored up for fire being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly men |
| 3:8 |
But do not ignoreoverlook this one fact beloved that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day |
| 3:9 |
The Lord is not slow aboutto fulfill his promise as some count slowness but is forbearingpatient toward you not wishing that any should perish but that all should reach repentance |
| 3:10 |
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief and then the heavens will pass away with a loudroar noise and the elementsheavenly bodies will be dissolvedburned withup fireand dissolved and the earth and the works that are upondone on it will be burned upexposed |
| 3:11 |
Since all these things are thus to be dissolved what sort of personspeople ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness |
| 3:12 |
waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God because of which the heavens will be kindledset on fire and dissolved and the elementsheavenly bodies will melt withas firethey burn |
| 3:13 |
But according to his promise we waitare waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells |
| 3:14 |
Therefore beloved since you waitare waiting for these be zealousdiligent to be found by him without spot or blemish and at peace |
| 3:15 |
And count the forbearancepatience of our Lord as salvation Sojust alsoas our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him |

speaking of this as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters There are some things in them that are hard to understand which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction as they do the other scriptures Scriptures |

You therefore beloved knowing this beforehand bewaretake lestcare that you beare not carried away with the error of lawless menpeople and lose your own stability |
