7:1 Now when the Pharisees gatheredand together to him with some of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem gathered around him
7:2 they sawnoticed that some of his disciples atewere eating with defiled hands defiled that is unwashedwithout washing them
7:3 For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they thoroughly wash their hands thus observing the tradition of the elders;
7:4 and when they comedo not eat anything from the market place they do not eat unless they purifywash themselvesit; and there are also many other traditions whichthat they observe the washing of cups and pots and vesselsbronze ofkettles bronze
7:5 AndSo the Pharisees and the scribes asked him Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders but eat with defiled hands defiled
7:6 AndHe he said to them WellIsaiah didprophesied Isaiahrightly prophesyabout of you hypocrites as it is written This people honors me with their lips but their hearthearts isare far from me;
7:7 in vain do they worship me teaching ashuman doctrines the precepts ofas mendoctrines
7:8 You leaveabandon the commandment of God and hold fastto thehuman tradition of men
7:9 AndThen he said to them You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition
7:10 For Moses said Honor your father and your mother; and HeWhoever who speaks evil of father or mother letmust him surely die;
7:11 butBut you say Ifthat aif mananyone tells his father or his mother WhatWhatever support you wouldmight have gainedhad from me is Corban that is givenan offering to God—
7:12 then you no longer permit himdoing to do anything for hisa father or mother
7:13 thus making void the word of God through your tradition whichthat you handhave handed on And you do many such things youlike dothis
7:14 AndThen he called the peoplecrowd to him again and said to them HearListen to me all of you and understand:
7:15 there is nothing outside a manperson whichthat by going intoin him can defile him; but the things whichthat come out of a man are what defile him
7:17 AndWhen when he had enteredleft the housecrowd and leftentered the peoplehouse his disciples asked him about the parable
7:18 AndHe he said to them Then aredo you also withoutfail understandingto understand Do you not see that whatever goes into a manperson from outside cannot defile him
7:19 since it enters not histhe heart but histhe stomach and sogoes passesout oninto the sewer Thus he declared all foods clean

12:30 and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength
12:32 AndThen the scribe said to him You are right Teacher; you have truly said that he is one and besides him there is no other but he;
12:33 and to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength and to love ones neighbor as oneself—this is much more important than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices

13:13 and you will be hated by all forbecause of my namesname sake But hethe one who endures to the end will be saved
13:14 But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be let the reader understand then let those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains;

14:20 He said to them It is one of the twelve one who is dipping bread into the dishbowl with me
14:21 For the Son of manMan goes as it is written of him but woe to that manone by whom the Son of manMan is betrayed It would have been better for that manone ifnot heto hadhave not been born
14:22 AndWhile as they were eating he took a loaf of bread and blessedafter andblessing it he broke it and gave it to them and said Take; this is my body
14:23 AndThen he took a cup and whenafter hegiving had given thanks he gave it to them and they all of them drank offrom it

14:34 And he said to them MyI soulam isdeeply verygrieved sorrowful even to death; remain here and watchkeep awake
14:35 And going a little farther he fellthrew himself on the ground and prayed that if it were possible the hour might pass from him
14:36 AndHe he said Abba Father for you all things are possible to thee; remove this cup from me; yet not what I willwant but what thouyou wiltwant
14:37 AndHe he came and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter Simon are you asleep Could you not watchkeep awake one hour
14:38 WatchKeep awake and pray that you may not entercome into temptationthe time of trial; the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak
14:40 And againonce more he came and found them sleeping for their eyes were very heavy; and they did not know what to answersay to him
14:41 AndHe he came thea third time and said to them Are you still sleeping and taking your rest ItEnough isThe enough; the hour has come; the Son of manMan is betrayed into the hands of sinners
14:42 RiseGet up let us be going; seeSee my betrayer is at hand
14:43 AndImmediately immediately while he was still speaking Judas came one of the twelve arrived; and with him there was a crowd with swords and clubs from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders
14:44 Now the betrayer had given them a sign saying The one I shallwill kiss is the man; seizearrest him and lead him away under guard
14:45 AndSo when he came he went up to him at once and said MasterRabbi Andand he kissed him
14:46 AndThen they laid hands on him and seizedarrested him
14:47 But one of those who stood bynear drew his sword and struck the slave of the high priest andcutting cut off his ear
14:48 AndThen Jesus said to them Have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to capturearrest me as though I were a bandit
14:49 Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching and you did not seizearrest me But let the scriptures be fulfilled
14:50 AndAll theyof allthem forsookdeserted him and fled
14:51 AndA acertain young man followedwas following him withwearing nothing but a linen cloth aboutThey hiscaught body;hold andof they seized him
14:52 but he left the linen cloth and ran awayoff naked
14:53 AndThey theytook led Jesus to the high priest; and all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes were assembled
14:54 And Peter had followed him at a distance right into the courtyard of the high priest; and he was sitting with the guards and warming himself at the fire
14:55 Now the chief priests and the whole council soughtwere looking for testimony against Jesus to put him to death; but they found none
14:56 For many boregave false witnesstestimony against him and their witnesstestimony did not agree
14:57 AndSome some stood up and boregave false witnesstestimony against him saying
14:59 YetBut not even soon didthis point their testimony did not agree
14:60 AndThen the high priest stood up inbefore thethem midst and asked Jesus Have you no answer to make What is it that thesethey men testify against you
14:61 But he was silent and madedid nonot answer Again the high priest asked him Are you the ChristMessiah the Son of the Blessed One
14:62 And Jesus said I am; and you will see the Son of manMan seated at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven
14:63 AndThen the high priest tore his garmentsclothes and said Why do we still need witnesses
14:64 You have heard his blasphemy What is your decision AndAll theyof allthem condemned him as deserving death
14:65 AndSome some began to spit on him and to coverblindfold hishim face and to strike him saying to him Prophesy AndThe the guards receivedalso took him withover blowsand beat him
14:66 AndWhile as Peter was below in the courtyard one of the maidsservant girls of the high priest came; by
14:67 andWhen seeingshe saw Peter warming himself she lookedstared at him and said You also were with Jesus the Nazareneman Jesusfrom Nazareth
14:68 But he denied it saying I neitherdo not know noror understand what you meanare talking about And he went out into the gatewayforecourt Then the cock crowed
14:69 And the maidservant sawgirl on seeing him and began again to say to the bystanders This man is one of them
14:70 But again he denied it AndThen after a little while again the bystanders again said to Peter Certainly you are one of them; for you are a Galilean
14:71 But he began to invoke a curse onand himselfhe andswore toan swearoath I do not know this man ofyou whomare youtalking speakabout
14:72 AndAt immediatelythat moment the cock crowed afor the second time AndThen Peter remembered howthat Jesus had said to him Before the cock crows twice you will deny me three times And he broke down and wept
15:1 AndAs as soon as it was morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council heldThey a consultation; and they bound Jesus and led him away and deliveredhanded him over to Pilate
15:2 And Pilate asked him Are you the King of the Jews AndHe he answered him You havesay said so
15:3 AndThen the chief priests accused him of many things
15:4 And Pilate again asked him again Have you no answer to make See how many charges they bring against you
15:5 But Jesus made no further answerreply so that Pilate wonderedwas amazed
15:6 Now at the feastfestival he used to release a prisoner for them oneanyone prisoner for whom they asked
15:7 AndNow amonga theman rebelscalled Barabbas was in prison with the rebels who had committed murder induring the insurrection there was a man called Barab′bas
15:8 AndSo the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to do asfor hethem wasaccording wont to dohis forcustom them
15:9 AndThen he answered them Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews
15:10 For he perceivedrealized that it was out of envyjealousy that the chief priests had deliveredhanded him upover
15:11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release Barabbas for them Barab′bas instead
15:12 And Pilate againspoke said to them again Then what shalldo Iyou wish me to do with the man whom you call the King of the Jews
15:13 AndThey theyshouted criedback out again Crucify him
15:14 And Pilate saidasked to them Why what evil has he done But they shouted all the more Crucify him
15:15 So Pilate wishing to satisfy the crowd released Barabbas for them Barab′bas; and havingafter scourgedflogging Jesus he deliveredhanded him over to be crucified
15:16 AndThen the soldiers led him awayinto insidethe courtyard of the palace that is the praetoriumgovernors headquarters; and they called together the whole battalioncohort

15:22 AndThen they brought himJesus to the place called Gol′gothaGolgotha which means the place of a skull
15:23 And they offered him wine mingledmixed with myrrh; but he did not take it
15:24 And they crucified him and divided his garmentsclothes among them casting lots for them to decide what each should take
15:25 AndIt it was nine oclock in the thirdmorning hour when they crucified him
15:26 AndThe the inscription of the charge against him read The King of the Jews
15:27 And with him they crucified two robbersbandits one on his right and one on his left
15:29 AndThose those who passed by derided him waggingshaking their heads and saying Aha You who would destroy the temple and build it in three days
15:31 SoIn alsothe same way the chief priests mockedalong himwith tothe onescribes anotherwere withalso themocking scribeshim among themselves and saying He saved others; he cannot save himself
15:32 Let the ChristMessiah the King of Israel come down now from the cross now so that we may see and believe Those who were crucified with him also reviledtaunted him
15:33 AndWhen whenit thewas sixthnoon hourdarkness hadcame come there was darkness over the whole land until three in the ninthafternoon hour
15:34 AndAt atthree theoclock ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice E′loEloi iEloi E′lolema isabachthani la′ma sabach tha′ni which means My God my God why hasthave thouyou forsaken me
15:35 AndWhen some of the bystanders hearingheard it they said BeholdListen he is calling Eli′jahfor Elijah
15:36 And onesomeone ran andfilled filling a sponge fullwith ofsour vinegarwine put it on a reedstick and gave it to him to drink saying Wait let us see whether Eli′jahElijah will come to take him down
15:37 AndThen Jesus utteredgave a loud cry and breathed his last
15:39 AndNow when the centurion who stood facing him saw that in this way he thus breathed his last he said Truly this man was theGods Son of God
15:40 There were also women looking on from afara distance; among whomthem were Mary Mag′daleneMagdalene and Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses and Salo′meSalome
15:41 whoThese whenused heto wasfollow inhim Galileeand followedprovided for him andwhen ministeredhe towas himin Galilee; and alsothere were many other women who camehad come up with him to Jerusalem
15:42 AndWhen when evening had come and since it was the day of Preparation that is the day before the sabbath
15:43 Joseph of Arimathe′aArimathea a respected member of the council who was also himself lookingwaiting expectantly for the kingdom of God tookwent courageboldly and went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus
15:44 AndThen Pilate wondered if he were already dead; and summoning the centurion he asked him whether he washad alreadybeen dead for some time
15:45 AndWhen when he learned from the centurion that he was dead he granted the body to Joseph
15:46 AndThen heJoseph bought a linen shroudcloth and taking him down the body wrapped himit in the linen shroudcloth and laid himit in a tomb whichthat had been hewn out of the rock; andHe hethen rolled a stone against the door of the tomb
15:47 Mary Mag′daleneMagdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where hethe body was laid
16:1 AndWhen when the sabbath was pastover Mary Mag′daleneMagdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salo′meSalome bought spices so that they might go and anoint him
16:2 And very early on the first day of the week when the sun had risen they went to the tomb when the sun had risen
16:3 AndThey theyhad werebeen saying to one another Who will roll away the stone for us from the doorentrance ofto the tomb
16:4 AndWhen lookingthey looked up they saw that the stone waswhich rolled back—it was very large had already been rolled back
16:5 AndAs enteringthey entered the tomb they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side dressed in a white robe; and they were amazedalarmed
16:6 AndBut he said to them Do not be amazedalarmed; you seekare looking for Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified He has risenbeen raised; he is not here; seeLook there is the place where they laid him
16:7 But go tell his disciples and Peter that he is going beforeahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him just as he told you
16:8 AndSo they went out and fled from the tomb; for tremblingterror and astonishmentamazement had comeseized upon them; and they said nothing to anyanyone one for they were afraid [And all that had been commanded them they told briefly to those around Peter And afterward Jesus himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation]
16:9 [Now whenafter he rose early on the first day of the week he appeared first to Mary Mag′daleneMagdalene from whom he had cast out seven demons
16:10 She went out and told those who had been with him aswhile they mournedwere mourning and weptweeping
16:14 AfterwardLater he appeared to the eleven themselves as they satwere sitting at the table; and he upbraided them for their unbelieflack andof hardnessfaith ofand heartstubbornness because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen
16:15 And he said to them Go into all the world and preachproclaim the gospelgood news to the whole creation
16:16 HeThe one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but hethe one who does not believe will be condemned
16:17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: inby using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
16:18 they will pick up serpentssnakes in their hands and if they drink any deadly thing it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick and they will recover
16:20 And they went forthout and preachedproclaimed the good news everywhere while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by the signs that attendedaccompanied it Amen]
