| 1:1 |
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, toTo the church of God which is at Corinth with all the saints who are throughout Achaia: |
| 1:3 |
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;, |
| 1:4 |
who comforts us in all our affliction so that we maywill be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. |
| 1:9 |
indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves inso order that we shouldwould not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead; |
| 1:11 |
you also joining in helping us through your prayers, so that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the favor bestowed uponon us through the prayers of many. |
| 1:12 |
For our proud confidence is this,: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you. |
| 1:15 |
AndIn in this confidence I intended at first to come to you, so that you might twice receive a blessing; |
| 1:17 |
Therefore, I was not vacillating when I intended to do this, was I? Or thatwhat which I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, so that with me there shouldwill be yes, yes and no, no at the same time? |
| 1:19 |
For the Son of God, Christ Jesus, who was preached among you by us —by me and Silvanus and Timothy —was not yes and no, but is yes in Him. |
| 1:20 |
For as many as mayare be the promises of God, in Him they are yes; whereforetherefore also bythrough Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us. |
| 1:23 |
But I call God as witness to my soul, that to spare you I camedid nonot morecome again to Corinth. |
| 2:3 |
AndThis this is the very thing I wrote you, lest,so that when I came, I shouldwould not have sorrow from those who ought to make me rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy would be the joy of you all. |
| 2:4 |
For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears; not so that you shouldwould be made sorrowful, but that you might know the love which I have especially for you. |
| 2:5 |
But if any has caused sorrow, he has caused sorrow not to me, but in some degree —in order not to say too much —to all of you. |
| 2:7 |
so that on the contrary you should rather forgive and comfort him, lestotherwise somehow such a one might be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. |
| 2:9 |
For to this end also I wrote, so that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. |
| 2:10 |
But one whom you forgive anything, I forgive also; for indeed what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I did it for your sakes in the presence of Christ, |
| 2:11 |
inso order that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan;, for we are not ignorant of his schemes. |
| 2:14 |
But thanks be to God, who always leads us in His triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. |
| 3:3 |
being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts. |
| 3:4 |
AndSuch such confidence we have through Christ toward God. |
| 3:6 |
who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. |
| 3:8 |
how shallwill the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory? |
| 3:10 |
For indeed what had glory, in this case has no glory onbecause account of the glory that surpasses it. |
| 3:12 |
HavingTherefore thereforehaving such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech, |
| 3:13 |
and are not aslike Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel mightwould not look intently at the end of what was fading away. |
| 3:16 |
but whenever a manperson turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. |
| 3:17 |
Now the Lord is the Spirit;, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. |
| 3:18 |
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit. |
| 4:4 |
in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. |
| 4:6 |
For God, who said, Light shall shine out of darkness, is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the lightLight of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. |
| 4:7 |
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power maywill be of God and not from ourselves; |
| 4:10 |
always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. |
| 4:11 |
For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. |
| 4:13 |
But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke, we also believe, therefore we also we speak;, |
| 4:15 |
For all things are for your sakes, so that the grace which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God. |
| 5:2 |
For indeed in this house we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven;, |
| 5:3 |
inasmuch as we, having put it on, shallwill not be found naked. |
| 5:4 |
For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed, but to be clothed, inso order that what is mortal maywill be swallowed up by life. |
| 5:6 |
Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— |
| 5:7 |
for we walk by faith, not by sight— |
| 5:9 |
Therefore we also we have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him. |
| 5:10 |
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. |
| 5:11 |
Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences. |
| 5:12 |
We are not again commending ourselves to you but are giving you an occasion to be proud of us, so that you maywill have an answer for those who take pride in appearance, and not in heart. |
| 5:15 |
and He died for all, so that they who live shouldmight no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf. |
| 5:16 |
Therefore from now on we recognize no manone according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thusin this way no longer. |
| 5:17 |
Therefore if anyanyone man is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. |
| 5:18 |
Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, |
| 5:20 |
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreatingmaking an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. |
| 5:21 |
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. |
| 6:1 |
And working together with Him, we also urge you not to receive the grace of God in vain— |
| 6:2 |
for He says, At the acceptable time I listened to you, And on the day of salvation I helped you;. beholdBehold, now is the acceptable time, behold, now is the day of salvation— |
| 6:3 |
giving no cause for offense in anything, inso order that the ministry bewill not be discredited, |
| 6:13 |
Now in a like exchange —I speak as to children —open wide to us also. |
| 7:3 |
I do not speak to condemn you;, for I have said before that you are in our hearts to die together and to live together. |
| 7:4 |
Great is my confidence in you,; great is my boasting on your behalf;. I am filled with comfort.; I am overflowing with joy in all our affliction. |
| 7:8 |
For though I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it; though I did regret it —for I see that that letter caused you sorrow, though only for a while— |
| 7:9 |
I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, inso order that you might not suffer loss in anything through us. |
| 7:10 |
For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation;, but the sorrow of the world produces death. |
| 7:12 |
So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the offender, nor for the sake of the one offended, but that your earnestness on our behalf might be made known to you in the sight of God. |
| 7:15 |
AndHis his affection abounds all the more toward you, as he remembers the obedience of you all, how you received him with fear and trembling. |
| 8:3 |
For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord, |
| 8:4 |
begging us with much entreatyurging for the favor of participation in the support of the saints, |
| 8:6 |
ConsequentlySo we urged Titus that as he had previously made a beginning, so he would also complete in you this gracious work as well. |
| 8:9 |
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich. |
| 8:10 |
And I give my opinion in this matter, for this is to your advantage, who were the first to begin a year ago not only to do this, but also to desire to do it. |
| 8:11 |
But now finish doing it also;, so that just as there was the readiness to desire it, so there may be also the completion of it by your ability. |
| 8:12 |
For if the readiness is present, it is acceptable according to what a manperson has, not according to what he does not have. |
| 8:13 |
For this is not for the ease of others and for your affliction, but by way of equality— |
| 8:14 |
at this present time your abundance being a supply for their wantneed, so that their abundance also may become a supply for your wantneed, that there may be equality; |
| 8:16 |
But thanks be to God, who puts the same earnestness on your behalf in the heart of Titus. |
| 8:18 |
AndWe we have sent along with him the brother whose fame in the things of the gospel has spread through all the churches; |
| 8:20 |
taking precaution so that no one shouldwill discredit us in our administration of this generous gift; |
| 8:22 |
AndWe we have sent with them our brother, whom we have often tested and found diligent in many things, but now even more diligent, because of his great confidence in you. |
| 8:24 |
Therefore openly before the churches, show them the proof of your love and of our reason for boasting about you. |
| 9:3 |
But I have sent the brethren, in order that our boasting about you may not be made empty in this case, so that, as I was saying, you may be prepared; |
| 9:4 |
lestotherwise if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we —not to speak of you—will should be put to shame by this confidence. |
| 9:5 |
So I thought it necessary to urge the brethren that they would go on ahead to you and arrange beforehand your previously promised bountiful gift, so that the same mightwould be ready as a bountiful gift, and not affected by covetousness. |
| 9:6 |
Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shallwill also reap sparingly;, and he who sows bountifully shallwill also reap bountifully. |
| 9:7 |
LetEach each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart;, not grudgingly or under compulsion;, for God loves a cheerful giver. |
| 9:8 |
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed; |
| 9:9 |
as it is written, He scattered abroad, he gave to the poor, His righteousness abidesendures forever. |
| 9:10 |
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness; |
| 9:13 |
Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all, |
| 10:1 |
Now I, Paul, myself urge you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ —I who am meek when face to face with you, but bold toward you when absent! |
| 10:2 |
I ask that when I am present I mayneed not be bold with the confidence with which I propose to be courageous against some, who regard us as if we walked according to the flesh. |
| 10:8 |
For even if I should boast somewhat further about our authority, which the Lord gave for building you up and not for destroying you, I shallwill not be put to shame, |
| 10:10 |
For they say, His letters are weighty and strong, but his personal presence is unimpressive, and his speech contemptible. |
| 10:12 |
For we are not bold to class or compare ourselves with some of those who commend themselves; but when they measure themselves by themselves, and compare themselves with themselves, they are without understanding. |
| 10:15 |
not boasting beyond our measure, that is, in other mens labors, but with the hope that as your faith grows, we shallwill be, within our sphere, enlarged even more by you, |
| 10:17 |
But he who boasts, letis himto boast in the Lord. |
| 10:18 |
For it is not he who commends himself that is approved, but he whom the Lord commends. |
| 11:2 |
For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin. |
| 11:3 |
But I am afraid that, lest as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds shouldwill be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. |
| 11:7 |
Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached the gospel of God to you without charge? |
| 11:8 |
I robbed other churches, by taking wages from them to serve you; |
| 11:9 |
and when I was present with you and was in need, I was not a burden to anyone; for when the brethren came from Macedonia, they fully supplied my need, and in everything I kept myself from being a burden to you, and will continue to do so. |
| 11:12 |
But what I am doing, I will continue to do, so that I may cut off opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting. |
| 11:14 |
AndNo no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. |
| 11:15 |
Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness;, whose end shallwill be according to their deeds. |
| 11:16 |
Again I say, let no one think me foolish; but if you do, receive me even as foolish, so that I also may boast a little. |
| 11:17 |
ThatWhat which I am speakingsaying, I am not speakingsaying as the Lord would, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting. |
| 11:19 |
For you, being so wise, beartolerate with the foolish gladly. |
| 11:20 |
For you beartolerate withit anyone if heanyone enslaves you, ifanyone he devours you, ifanyone he takes advantage of you, ifanyone he exalts himself, ifanyone he hits you in the face. |
| 11:21 |
To my shame I must say that we have been weak by comparison. But in whatever respect anyone else is bold —I speak in foolishness, —I am just as bold myself. |
| 11:23 |
Are they servants of Christ? ?—I speak as if insane —I more so; in far more labors, in far more imprisonments, beaten times without number, often in danger of death. |
| 11:28 |
Apart from such external things, there is the daily pressure uponon me of concern for all the churches. |
| 12:2 |
I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago —whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows —such a man was caught up to the third heaven. |
| 12:3 |
And I know how such a man —whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, God knows— |
| 12:4 |
was caught up into Paradise, and heard inexpressible words, which a man is not permitted to speak. |
| 12:5 |
On behalf of such a man I will I boast; but on my own behalf I will not boast, except in regard to my weaknesses. |
| 12:6 |
For if I do wish to boast I shallwill not be foolish, for I shallwill be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one maywill credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me. |
| 12:7 |
AndBecause because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffettorment me —to keep me from exalting myself! |
| 12:8 |
Concerning this I entreatedimplored the Lord three times that it might departleave from me. |
| 12:9 |
And He has said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. |
| 12:15 |
And I will most gladly spend and be expended for your souls. If I love you the more, am I to be loved the less? |
| 12:18 |
I urged Titus to go, and I sent the brother with him. Titus did not take any advantage of you, did he? Did we not conduct ourselves in the same spirit and walk in the same steps? |
| 12:20 |
For I am afraid that perhaps when I come I may find you to be not what I wish and may be found by you to be not what you wish; that perhaps there maywill be strife, jealousy, angry tempers, disputes, slanders, gossip, arrogance, disturbances; |
| 13:2 |
I have previously said when present the second time, and though now absent I say in advance to those who have sinned in the past and to all the rest as well, that if I come again, I will not spare anyone, |
| 13:4 |
For indeed He was crucified because of weakness, yet He lives because of the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, yet we shallwill live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you. |
| 13:5 |
Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you —unless indeed you fail the test? |
| 13:7 |
Now we pray to God that you do no wrong; not that we ourselves may appear approved, but that you may do what is right, even though we shouldmay appear unapproved. |
| 13:10 |
For this reason I am writing these things while absent, inso order that when present I mayneed not use severity, in accordance with the authority which the Lord gave me, for building up and not for tearing down. |
| 13:11 |
Finally, brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shallwill be with you. |
