| 1:1 |
God, whohaving atof sundryold timestime andspoken inunto diversthe mannersfathers spake in timethe pastprophets untoby thedivers fathersportions byand thein prophetsdivers manners, |
| 1:2 |
Hathhath inat the end of these last days spoken unto us byin his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, bythrough whom also he made the worlds; |
| 1:3 |
Whowho being the brightnesseffulgence of his glory, and the expressvery image of his personsubstance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had bymade himselfpurification purgedof our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:; |
| 1:4 |
Beinghaving madebecome by so much better than the angels, as he hath byinherited inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. |
| 1:5 |
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, thisThis day have I begotten thee? Andand again, I will be to him a Father, andAnd he shall be to me a Son? |
| 1:6 |
And again, when he again bringeth in the firstbegottenfirstborn into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. |
| 1:7 |
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spiritswinds, andAnd his ministers a flame of fire.: |
| 1:8 |
Butbut untoof the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:; aAnd the sceptre of righteousnessuprightness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. |
| 1:9 |
Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; thereforeTherefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee withWith the oil of gladness above thy fellows. |
| 1:10 |
And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth;, andAnd the heavens are the works of thinethy hands: |
| 1:11 |
They shall perish; but thou remainest;continuest: andAnd they all shall wax old as doth a garment; |
| 1:12 |
And as a vesturemantle shalt thou foldroll them up, As a garment, and they shall be changed: butBut thou art the same, andAnd thy years shall not fail. |
| 1:13 |
But toof which of the angels saidhath he said at any time, Sit thou on my right hand, untilTill I make thine enemies the footstool of thy footstoolfeet? |
| 1:14 |
Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to ministerdo service for the sake of them whothat shall beinherit heirs of salvation? |
| 2:1 |
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things whichthat wewere have heard, lest athaply anywe timedrift weaway shouldfrom let them slip. |
| 2:2 |
For if the word spoken bythrough angels wasproved stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompencerecompense of reward; |
| 2:3 |
Howhow shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation;? which having at the first beganbeen to be spoken bythrough the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; |
| 2:4 |
God also bearing witness with them witness, both withby signs and wonders, and withby diversmanifold miraclespowers, and by gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?. |
| 2:5 |
For not unto the angels hathdid he notsubject put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. |
| 2:6 |
But one inhath asomewhere certain place testified, saying, What is man, that thou art mindful of him? orOr the son of man, that thou visitest him? |
| 2:7 |
Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thouThou crownedst him with glory and honour, andAnd didst set him over the works of thy hands: |
| 2:8 |
Thou hastdidst put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he putsubjected all inthings subjectionunto under him, he left nothing that is not putsubject underto him. But now we see not yet all things putsubjected underto him. |
| 2:9 |
But we seebehold Jesus, him who washath been made a little lower than the angels, foreven Jesus, because of the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour;, that he by the grace of God he should taste death for every man. |
| 2:10 |
For it became him, for whom are all things, and bythrough whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captainauthor of their salvation perfect through sufferings. |
| 2:11 |
For both he that sanctifieth and they whothat are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, |
| 2:12 |
Sayingsaying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, inIn the midst of the churchcongregation will I sing thy praise unto thee. |
| 2:13 |
And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children which God hath given me. |
| 2:14 |
ForasmuchSince then as the children are partakerssharers ofin flesh and blood, he also himself likewisein tooklike partmanner partook of the same; that through death he might destroybring to nought him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; |
| 2:15 |
Andand might deliver all them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. |
| 2:16 |
For verily he took not onof himangels thedoth naturehe oftake angels;hold, but he tooktaketh onhold himof the seed of Abraham. |
| 2:17 |
Wherefore it behoved him in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliationpropitiation for the sins of the people. |
| 3:1 |
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of thea heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our professionconfession, Christeven Jesus; |
| 3:2 |
Whowho was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithfulMoses in all his house. |
| 3:3 |
For thishe manhath wasbeen counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuchby so much as he whothat hathbuilt builded the house hath more honour than the house. |
| 3:4 |
For every house is builded by some manone; but he that built all things is God. |
| 3:5 |
And Moses verilyindeed was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were afterward to be spoken after; |
| 3:6 |
Butbut Christ as a son, over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast theour confidenceboldness and the rejoicingglorying of theour hope firm unto the end. |
| 3:7 |
Wherefore, even as the Holy Ghost saith, ToToday day if ye willshall hear his voice, |
| 3:8 |
Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the temptation in the wilderness:, |
| 3:9 |
WhenWherewith your fathers tempted me, provedby proving me, andAnd saw my works forty years. |
| 3:10 |
Wherefore I was grieveddispleased with thatthis generation, andAnd said, They do alway err in their heart;: andBut they havedid not knownknow my ways.; |
| 3:11 |
SoAs I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest. |
| 3:12 |
Take heed, brethren, lest haply there shall be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departingfalling away from the living God.: |
| 3:13 |
Butbut exhort one another dailyday by day, whileso long as it is called To dayToday; lest any one of you be hardened throughby the deceitfulness of sin.: |
| 3:14 |
Forfor we are madebecome partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence stedfastfirm unto the end;: |
| 3:15 |
Whilewhile it is said, ToToday day if ye willshall hear his voice, hardenHarden not your hearts, as in the provocation. |
| 3:16 |
For somewho, when they had heard, did provoke:? howbeitnay, did not all they that came out of Egypt by Moses.? |
| 3:17 |
ButAnd with whom was he grieveddispleased forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? |
| 3:18 |
And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believedwere notdisobedient? |
| 3:19 |
SoAnd we see that they couldwere not able to enter in because of unbelief. |
| 4:1 |
Let us fear therefore fear, lest haply, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it. |
| 4:2 |
For untoindeed uswe washave thehad gospelgood tidings preached unto us, aseven well as untoalso themthey: but the word preachedof hearing did not profit them, because they were not beingunited mixedby with faith inwith them that heard it. |
| 4:3 |
For we which have believed do enter into that rest,; even as he hath said, As I havesware sworn in my wrath, ifThey they shall not enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. |
| 4:4 |
For he spakehath insaid asomewhere certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God didrested reston the seventh day from all his works.; |
| 4:5 |
Andand in this place again, IfThey they shall not enter into my rest. |
| 4:6 |
Seeing therefore it remaineth that some mustshould enter thereinthereinto, and they to whom itthe wasgood firsttidings were before preached enteredfailed notto enter in because of unbelief:disobedience, |
| 4:7 |
Again, he limitethagain defineth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time;, Today, as it ishath been before said, ToToday day if ye willshall hear his voice, hardenHarden not your hearts. |
| 4:8 |
For if JesusJoshua had given them rest, thenhe would he not afterward have spoken afterward of another day. |
| 4:9 |
There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest tofor the people of God. |
| 4:10 |
For he that is entered into his rest, hehath himself also hathrested ceased from his own works, as God did from his. |
| 4:11 |
Let us labour therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, lestthat anyno man fall after the same example of unbeliefdisobedience. |
| 4:12 |
For the word of God is quickliving, and powerfulactive, and sharper than any twoedgedtwo edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of theboth joints and marrow, and isquick ato discernerdiscern of the thoughts and intents of the heart. |
| 4:13 |
NeitherAnd there is thereno any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and openedlaid untoopen before the eyes of him with whom we have to do. |
| 4:14 |
SeeingHaving then that we have a great high priest, thatwho ishath passed intothrough the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our professionconfession. |
| 4:15 |
For we have not ana high priest whichthat cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but wasone that hath been in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. |
| 4:16 |
Let us therefore comedraw boldlynear with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may obtainreceive mercy, and may find grace to help us in time of need. |
| 5:1 |
For every high priest, being taken from among men, is ordainedappointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: |
| 5:2 |
Whowho can havebear compassiongently onwith the ignorant, and onerring, them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.; |
| 5:3 |
Andand by reason hereofthereof heis oughtbound, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. |
| 5:4 |
And no man taketh thisthe honour unto himself, but when he that is called of God, even as was Aaron. |
| 5:5 |
So Christ also Christ glorified not himself to be made ana high priest;, but he that saidspake unto him, Thou art my Son, toThis day have I begotten thee.: |
| 5:6 |
Asas he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever afterAfter the order of MelchisedecMelchizedek. |
| 5:7 |
Who in the days of his flesh, whenhaving he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and washaving been heard infor thathis hegodly feared;fear, |
| 5:8 |
Thoughthough he werewas a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; |
| 5:9 |
Andand beinghaving been made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him the author of eternal salvation; |
| 5:10 |
Callednamed of God ana high priest after the order of MelchisedecMelchizedek. |
| 5:11 |
Of whom we have many things to say, and hard toof be utteredinterpretation, seeing ye are become dull of hearing. |
| 5:12 |
For when forby reason of the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need again that some one teach you againthe whichrudiments beof the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strongsolid meatfood. |
| 5:13 |
For every one that usethpartaketh of milk is unskilfulwithout inexperience of the word of righteousness:; for he is a babe. |
| 5:14 |
But strongsolid meatfood belongethis tofor themfullgrown that are of full agemen, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. |
| 6:1 |
ThereforeWherefore leavinglet theus principlescease to speak of the doctrinefirst principles of Christ, letand uspress go on unto perfection; not laying again thea foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, |
| 6:2 |
Ofof the doctrineteaching of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgmentjudgement. |
| 6:4 |
For itas istouching impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, |
| 6:5 |
Andand have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the worldage to come, |
| 6:6 |
Ifand theythen shallfell fall away, it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. |
| 6:7 |
For the earthland which drinkethhath indrunk the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them byfor whomwhose sake it is dressedalso tilled, receiveth blessing from God: |
| 6:8 |
Butbut thatif whichit beareth thorns and briersthistles, it is rejected, and is nigh unto cursinga curse; whose end is to be burned. |
| 6:9 |
But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.: |
| 6:10 |
Forfor God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labourthe of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered tounto the saints, and still do minister. |
| 6:11 |
And we desire that everyeach one of you domay shew the same diligence tounto the fullfulness assurance of hope untoeven to the end: |
| 6:12 |
Thatthat ye be not slothfulsluggish, but followersimitators of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. |
| 6:13 |
For when God made promise to Abraham, becausesince he could swear by nonone greater, he sware by himself, |
| 6:14 |
Sayingsaying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. |
| 6:15 |
And sothus, afterhaving he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. |
| 6:16 |
For men verily swear by the greater: and anin oathevery fordispute confirmationof istheirs tothe themoath anis endfinal offor all strifeconfirmation. |
| 6:17 |
Wherein God, willingbeing moreminded abundantly to shew more abundantly unto the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmedinterposed itwith by an oath: |
| 6:18 |
Thatthat by two immutable things, in which it wasis impossible for God to lie, we mightmay have a strong consolationencouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold uponof the hope set before us:; |
| 6:19 |
Whichwhich hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and stedfast, and whichentering entereth into that which is within the veil; |
| 6:20 |
Whitherwhither theas a forerunner isJesus entered for us entered, evenhaving Jesus, become madea an high priest for ever after the order of MelchisedecMelchizedek. |
| 7:1 |
For this MelchisedecMelchizedek, king of Salem, priest of theGod mostMost high GodHigh, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;, |
| 7:2 |
Toto whom also Abraham gavedivided a tenth part of all; being first, being by interpretation, King of righteousness, and afterthen that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; |
| 7:3 |
Withoutwithout father, without mother, without descentgenealogy, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life;, but made like unto the Son of God;, abideth a priest continually. |
| 7:4 |
Now consider how great this man was, unto whom evenAbraham, the patriarch, Abraham gave thea tenth out of the chief spoils. |
| 7:5 |
And verily they thatindeed are of the sons of Levi, whothat receive the priests office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though theythese have come out of the loins of Abraham: |
| 7:6 |
Butbut he whose descentgenealogy is not counted from them receivedhath taken tithes of Abraham, and hath blessed him that hadhath the promises. |
| 7:7 |
AndBut without allany contradictiondispute the less is blessed of the better. |
| 7:8 |
And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth themone, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. |
| 7:9 |
And, asso Ito may so say, through Abraham even Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payedhath paid tithes in Abraham.; |
| 7:10 |
Forfor he was yet in the loins of his father, when MelchisedecMelchizedek met him. |
| 7:11 |
IfNow thereforeif there was perfection werethrough by the Levitical priesthood, for under it hath the people received the law, what further need was there that another priest should risearise after the order of MelchisedecMelchizedek, and not be calledreckoned after the order of Aaron? |
| 7:13 |
For he of whom these things are spokensaid pertainethbelongeth to another tribe, offrom which no man gavehath given attendance at the altar. |
| 7:14 |
For it is evident that our Lord spranghath sprung out of JudaJudah; ofas to which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthoodpriests. |
| 7:15 |
And itwhat we say is yet far more abundantly evident:, forif that after the similitudelikeness of MelchisedecMelchizedek there ariseth another priest, |
| 7:16 |
Whowho ishath been made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.: |
| 7:17 |
Forfor heit testifiethis witnessed of him, Thou art a priest for ever afterAfter the order of MelchisedecMelchizedek. |
| 7:18 |
For there is verily a disannulling of thea foregoing commandment goingbecause beforeof forits the weakness and unprofitableness thereof. |
| 7:19 |
Forfor the law made nothing perfect, butand thea bringing in thereupon of a better hope, did;through by the which we draw nigh unto God. |
| 7:20 |
And inasmuch as it is not without anthe oathtaking heof wasan made priest:oath |
| 7:21 |
Forfor thosethey priestsindeed werehave been made priests without an oath; but thishe with an oath by him that saidsaith untoof him, The Lord sware and will not repent himself, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:; |
| 7:22 |
Byby so much wasalso hath Jesus madebecome athe surety of a better testamentcovenant. |
| 7:23 |
And they trulyindeed werehave been made priests many priestsin number, because theythat wereby notdeath sufferedthey toare continuehindered byfrom reason of deathcontinuing: |
| 7:24 |
Butbut this manhe, because he continuethabideth for ever, hath anhis priesthood unchangeable priesthood. |
| 7:25 |
Wherefore also he is able also to save them to the uttermost them that comedraw near unto God bythrough him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. |
| 7:26 |
For such ana high priest became us, who is holy, harmlessguileless, undefiled, separateseparated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; |
| 7:27 |
Whowho needeth not daily, aslike those high priests, to offer up sacrificesacrifices, first for his own sins, and then for the peoplessins of the people: for this he did once for all, when he offered up himself. |
| 7:28 |
For the law makethappointeth men high priests, whichhaving have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was sinceafter the law, makethappointeth thea Son, whoperfected is consecrated for evermore. |
| 8:1 |
Now ofin the things which we haveare spokensaying thisthe chief point is the sumthis: We have such ana high priest, who issat setdown on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;, |
| 8:2 |
Aa minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. |
| 8:3 |
For every high priest is ordainedappointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is ofnecessary necessity that this manhigh priest also have somewhat also to offer. |
| 8:4 |
ForNow if he were on earth, he shouldwould not be a priest at all, seeing that there are prieststhose thatwho offer the gifts according to the law:; |
| 8:5 |
Whowho serve untothat thewhich exampleis a copy and shadow of the heavenly things, even as Moses wasis admonishedwarned of God when he wasis about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern that was shewed to thee in the mount. |
| 8:6 |
But now hath he obtained a ministry the more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which washath establishedbeen enacted upon better promises. |
| 8:7 |
For if that first covenant had been faultless, then shouldwould no place have been sought for thea second. |
| 8:8 |
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, whenThat I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:; |
| 8:9 |
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers inIn the day whenthat I took them by the hand to lead them forth out of the land of Egypt; becauseFor they continued not in my covenant, andAnd I regarded them not, saith the Lord. |
| 8:10 |
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel afterAfter those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, andAnd writeon themtheir inheart theiralso heartswill I write them: andAnd I will be to them a God, andAnd they shall be to me a people: |
| 8:11 |
And they shall not teach every man his neighbourfellow citizen, andAnd every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: forFor all shall know me, fromFrom the least to the greatest of them. |
| 8:12 |
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousnessiniquities, andAnd their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. |
| 8:13 |
In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. NowBut that which decayethis becoming old and waxeth oldaged is readynigh tounto vanishvanishing away. |
| 9:1 |
ThenNow verilyeven the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and its sanctuary, a worldlysanctuary sanctuaryof this world. |
| 9:2 |
For there was a tabernacle made;prepared, the first, wherein waswere the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuaryHoly place. |
| 9:3 |
And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the HoliestHoly of allholies; |
| 9:4 |
Whichhaving hada the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was thea golden pot thatholding hadthe manna, and Aarons rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; |
| 9:5 |
Andand overabove it thecherubim cherubims of glory shadowingovershadowing the mercyseatmercy seat; of which things we cannot now speak particularlyseverally. |
| 9:6 |
Now when these things werehaving been thus ordainedprepared, the priests wentgo alwaysin continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.services; |
| 9:7 |
Butbut into the second went the high priest alone, once everyin the year, not without blood, which he offeredoffereth for himself, and for the errors of the people: |
| 9:8 |
Thethe Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiestholy ofplace allhath was not yet been made manifest, while as the first tabernacle wasis yet standing:; |
| 9:9 |
Whichwhich wasis a figureparable for the time thennow present,; inaccording to which wereare offered both gifts and sacrifices, that couldcannot, notas maketouching himthe thatconscience, didmake the serviceworshipper perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; |
| 9:10 |
Whichbeing stood only inwith meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until thea time of reformation. |
| 9:11 |
But Christ beinghaving come ana high priest of the good things to come, bythrough athe greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;creation, |
| 9:12 |
Neithernor byyet through the blood of goats and calves, but bythrough his own blood, he entered in once for all into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. |
| 9:13 |
For if the blood of bullsgoats and of goatsbulls, and the ashes of ana heifer sprinkling thethem uncleanthat have been defiled, sanctifiethsanctify tounto the purifyingcleanness of the flesh: |
| 9:14 |
Howhow much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spotblemish tounto God, purgecleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? |
| 9:15 |
And for this cause he is the mediator of thea new testamentcovenant, that bya meansdeath ofhaving death, taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testamentcovenant, they whichthat arehave been called mightmay receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. |
| 9:16 |
For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of thehim testatorthat made it. |
| 9:17 |
For a testament is of force afterwhere menthere arehath deadbeen death: otherwisefor doth it isever ofavail nowhile strengthhe atthat allmade whileit the testator liveth.? |
| 9:18 |
WhereuponWherefore neithereven the first testamentcovenant washath not been dedicated without blood. |
| 9:19 |
For when Mosesevery commandment had been spoken everyby preceptMoses tounto all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and ofthe goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself, and all the people, |
| 9:20 |
Sayingsaying, This is the blood of the testamentcovenant which God hathcommanded enjoinedto untoyou youward. |
| 9:21 |
Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry he sprinkled in like manner with the blood. |
| 9:22 |
And according to the law, I may almost say, all things are bycleansed the law purged with blood;, and withoutapart from shedding of blood there is no remission. |
| 9:23 |
It was necessary therefore necessary that the patternscopies of the things in the heavens should be purifiedcleansed with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. |
| 9:24 |
For Christ isentered not entered into thea holy placesplace made with hands, whichlike arein thepattern figuresto of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear inbefore the presenceface of God for us: |
| 9:25 |
Nornor yet that he should offer himself often,; as the high priest entereth into the holy place everyyear by year with blood ofnot othershis own; |
| 9:26 |
Forelse then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once inat the end of the worldages hath he appearedbeen manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. |
| 9:27 |
And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, butand after this thecometh judgment:judgement; |
| 9:28 |
Soso Christ wasalso, having been once offered to bear the sins of many;, andshall untoappear thema thatsecond looktime, forapart himfrom shallsin, heto appearthem thethat secondwait timefor withouthim, sin unto salvation. |
| 10:1 |
For the law having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, they can never with thosethe same sacrifices which they offered year by year, which they offer continually, make theperfect comersthem thereuntothat perfectdraw nigh. |
| 10:2 |
ForElse then would they not have ceased to be offered?, because that the worshippers, having been once purgedcleansed, shouldwould have had no more conscience of sins.? |
| 10:3 |
But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins everyyear by year. |
| 10:4 |
For it is notimpossible possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. |
| 10:5 |
Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, butBut a body hastdidst thou preparedprepare for me:; |
| 10:6 |
In whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hasthadst had no pleasure.: |
| 10:7 |
Then said I, Lo, I am come inIn the volumeroll of the book it is written of me, toTo do thy will, O God. |
| 10:8 |
AboveSaying when he saidabove, SacrificeSacrifices and offeringofferings and whole burnt offerings and offeringsacrifices for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; the which are offered byaccording to the law;, |
| 10:9 |
Thenthen saidhath he said, Lo, I am come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. |
| 10:10 |
By the which will we arehave been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. |
| 10:11 |
And every priest indeed standeth dailyday by day ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, the which can never take away sins: |
| 10:12 |
Butbut this manhe, afterwhen he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; |
| 10:13 |
Fromfrom henceforth expecting till his enemies be made the footstool of his footstoolfeet. |
| 10:15 |
WhereofAnd the Holy Ghost also isbeareth a witness to us: for after that he hadhath said before, |
| 10:16 |
This is the covenant that I will make with them afterAfter those days, saith the Lord,; I will put my laws intoon their heartsheart, andAnd inupon their mindsmind also will I write them; then saith he, |
| 10:17 |
And their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. |
| 10:19 |
Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiestholy place by the blood of Jesus, |
| 10:20 |
Byby athe new and living way, which he hathdedicated consecrated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; |
| 10:21 |
Andand having ana highgreat priest over the house of God; |
| 10:22 |
Letlet us draw near with a true heart in fullfulness assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodiesbody washed with pure water.: |
| 10:23 |
Letlet us hold fast the professionconfession of our faithhope withoutthat waveringit waver not; for he is faithful that promised;: |
| 10:24 |
Andand let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:; |
| 10:25 |
Notnot forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the mannercustom of some is;, but exhorting one another:; and so much the more, as ye see the day approachingdrawing nigh. |
| 10:26 |
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins, |
| 10:27 |
Butbut a certain fearful lookingexpectation for of judgmentjudgement, and fierya indignation, fierceness of fire which shall devour the adversaries. |
| 10:28 |
HeA man that despisedhath set at nought Moses law dieddieth without mercycompassion underon the word of two or three witnesses: |
| 10:29 |
Ofof how much sorer punishment, supposethink ye, shall he be thoughtjudged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? |
| 10:30 |
For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. |
| 10:32 |
But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminatedenlightened, ye endured a great fightconflict of afflictionssufferings; |
| 10:33 |
Partlypartly, whilstbeing ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilstbecoming yepartakers becamewith companions of them that were so used. |
| 10:34 |
For ye both had compassion ofon methem that were in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goodspossessions, knowing in yourselves that ye yourselves have in heaven a better possession and an enduringabiding substanceone. |
| 10:35 |
Cast not away therefore your confidenceboldness, which hath great recompencerecompense of reward. |
| 10:36 |
For ye have need of patience, that, afterhaving ye have done the will of God, ye mightmay receive the promise. |
| 10:37 |
For yet a very little while, andHe he that cometh shall come will come, and willshall not tarry. |
| 10:38 |
NowBut themy justrighteous one shall live by faith: butAnd if anyhe manshrink draw back, my soul shallhath have no pleasure in him. |
| 10:39 |
But we are not of them whothat drawshrink back unto perdition; but of them that believehave tofaith unto the saving of the soul. |
| 11:1 |

| 11:11 |
ThroughBy faith alsoeven SaraSarah herself received strengthpower to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, becausesince she judgedcounted him faithful who had promised.: |
| 11:12 |
Thereforewherefore sprangalso there evensprang of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of theheaven sky in multitude, and as the sand, which is by the sea shore, innumerable. |
| 11:13 |
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and weregreeted persuadedthem offrom themafar, and embracedhaving them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. |
| 11:14 |
For they that say such things declaremake plainlyit manifest that they seekare seeking after a country of their own. |
| 11:15 |
And truly, if indeed they had been mindful of that country from whencewhich they camewent out, they mightwould have had opportunity to have returnedreturn. |
| 11:16 |
But now they desire a better country, that is, ana heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. |
| 11:17 |
By faith Abraham, whenbeing he was tried, offered up Isaac: andyea, he that had gladly received the promises offeredwas offering up his only begotten son,; |
| 11:18 |
Ofeven he to whom it was said, ThatIn in Isaac shall thy seed be called: |

| 11:33 |
Whowho through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions., |
| 11:34 |
Quenchedquenched the violencepower of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, outfrom of weakness were made strong, waxed valiantmighty in fightwar, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. |
| 11:35 |
Women received their dead raisedby toa life againresurrection: and others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: |

Andand others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: |
| 11:37 |
Theythey were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tempted, they were slain with the sword: they wanderedwent about in sheepskins, andin goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;evil entreated |
| 11:38 |
Ofof whom the world was not worthy:, theywandering wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and incaves, dens and cavesthe holes of the earth. |

| 11:40 |
God having provided some better thing forconcerning us, that theyapart withoutfrom us they should not be made perfect. |
| 12:1 |
WhereforeTherefore let us also, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, |
| 12:2 |
Lookinglooking unto Jesus the author and finisherperfecter of our faith;, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and ishath setsat down at the right hand of the throne of God. |
| 12:3 |
For consider him that hath endured such contradictiongainsaying of sinners against himselfthemselves, lestthat ye bewax weariednot andweary, faintfainting in your mindssouls. |
| 12:4 |
Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.: |
| 12:5 |
Andand ye have forgotten the exhortation, which speakethreasoneth untowith you as untowith childrensons, My son, despiseregard not thoulightly the chastening of the Lord, norNor faint when thou art rebukedreproved of him:; |
| 12:6 |
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, andAnd scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. |
| 12:7 |
IfIt is for chastening that ye endure; chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is hethere whom thehis father chasteneth not? |
| 12:8 |
But if ye beare without chastisementchastening, whereof all arehave been made partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. |
| 12:9 |
Furthermore, we have had the fathers of our flesh whichto correctedchasten us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? |
| 12:10 |
For they verily for a few days chastened us afteras theirseemed owngood pleasureto them; but he for our profit, that we mightmay be partakers of his holiness. |
| 12:11 |

| 12:12 |
Wherefore lift up the hands whichthat hang down, and the feeblepalsied knees; |
| 12:13 |

| 12:14 |
Follow after peace with all men, and holiness, the sanctification without which no man shall see the Lord: |
| 12:15 |
Lookinglooking diligentlycarefully lest there be any man failthat falleth short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby the many be defiled; |
| 12:16 |
Lestlest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morselmess of meat sold his own birthright. |
| 12:17 |
For ye know how that afterward, even when he wouldafterward havedesired inheritedto inherit the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefullydiligently with tears. |
| 12:18 |
For ye are not come unto thea mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, norand unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, |
| 12:19 |
Andand the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreatedentreated that theno word more should not be spoken tounto them any more: |
| 12:20 |
Forfor they could not endure that which was commandedenjoined, AndIf ifeven so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:; |
| 12:21 |
Andand so terriblefearful was the sightappearance, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake: |
| 12:22 |
Butbut ye are come unto mount SionZion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable companyhosts of angels, |
| 12:23 |
Toto the general assembly and church of the firstborn, whichwho are writtenenrolled in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, |
| 12:24 |
Andand to Jesus the mediator of thea new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. |
| 12:25 |
See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not, whowhen they refused him that spakewarned them on earth, much more shall not we escape, ifwho we turn away from him that speakethwarneth from heaven: |
| 12:26 |
Whosewhose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more will I shakemake to tremble not the earth only, but also the heaven. |
| 12:27 |
And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that arehave been made, that those things which cannotare benot shaken may remain. |
| 12:28 |
Wherefore, we receiving a kingdom whichthat cannot be movedshaken, let us have grace, whereby we may serveoffer service well pleasing to God acceptably with reverence and godly fearawe: |
| 12:29 |
Forfor our God is a consuming fire. |
| 13:1 |
Let brotherly love of the brethren continue. |
| 13:2 |
BeForget not forgetful to entertainshew love unto strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. |
| 13:3 |
Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them whichthat sufferare adversityevil entreated, as being yourselves also in the body. |
| 13:4 |
MarriageLet ismarriage honourablebe had in honour among all, and let the bed be undefiled: butfor whoremongersfornicators and adulterers God will judge. |
| 13:5 |
LetBe yourye conversationfree befrom withoutthe covetousness;love andof bemoney; content with such things as ye have: for hehimself hath said, I will neverin leaveno wise fail thee, norneither will I in any wise forsake thee. |
| 13:6 |
So that wewith maygood boldlycourage we say, The Lord is my helper,; and I will not fear: whatWhat shall man shall do unto me.? |
| 13:7 |
Remember them whichthat havehad the rule over you, whowhich havespake spoken unto you the word of God:; whoseand faith follow, considering the endissue of their conversationlife, imitate their faith. |
| 13:8 |
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and to daytoday, yea and for ever. |
| 13:9 |
Be not carried aboutaway withby divers and strange doctrines.teachings: Forfor it is a good thing that the heart be establishedstablished withby grace; not withby meats, whichwherein havethey notthat profitedoccupied themthemselves thatwere havenot been occupied thereinprofited. |
| 13:11 |
For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuaryholy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned without the camp. |
| 13:12 |
Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people withthrough his own blood, suffered without the gate. |
| 13:13 |
Let us therefore go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. |
| 13:14 |
For herewe have wenot nohere continuingan abiding city, but we seek oneafter the city which is to come. |
| 13:15 |
ByThrough him thereforethen let us offer theup a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips givingwhich thanksmake confession to his name. |
| 13:17 |
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselvesto them: for they watch forin behalf of your souls, as they that mustshall give account,; that they may do itthis with joy, and not with grief: for thatthis iswere unprofitable for you. |
| 13:18 |
Pray for us: for we trustare persuaded that we have a good conscience, indesiring allto thingslive willinghonestly toin liveall honestlythings. |
| 13:19 |
ButAnd I beseechexhort you the rathermore exceedingly to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. |
| 13:20 |
