1:1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus Christthrough by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints which are in allthe whole of Achaia:
1:2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3 Blessed be the God, evenand the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
1:4 Whowho comforteth us in all our tribulationaffliction, that we may be able to comfort them whichthat are in any troubleaffliction, bythrough the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound inunto us, even so our consolationcomfort also aboundeth bythrough Christ.
1:6 AndBut whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolationcomfort and salvation; or whether we be comforted, whichit is effectualfor your comfort, which worketh in the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
1:7 Andand our hope offor you is stedfast,; knowing, that, as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shallalso are ye be also of the consolationcomfort.
1:8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant, ofbrethren, concerning our troubleaffliction which camebefell to us in Asia, that we were pressedweighed outdown of measureexceedingly, abovebeyond strengthour power, insomuch that we despaired even of life:
1:9 Butyea, we ourselves have had the sentenceanswer of death inwithin ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:
1:10 Whowho delivered us fromout of so great a death, and dothwill deliver: inon whom we trusthave set our hope that he will yetalso still deliver us;
1:11 Yeye also helping together on our behalf by prayeryour forsupplication; usthat, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many, persons thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf.
1:12 For our rejoicingglorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicityholiness and godlysincerity sincerityof God, not within fleshly wisdom, but byin the grace of God, we havebehaved hadourselves our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you ward.
1:13 For we write none other things unto you, thatthan what ye read or even acknowledge;, and I trusthope ye shallwill acknowledge evenunto to the end;:
1:14 Asas also ye havedid acknowledgedacknowledge us in part, that we are your rejoicingglorying, even as ye also are ours, in the day of theour Lord Jesus.
1:15 And in this confidence I was minded to come before unto you before, that ye might have a second benefit;
1:16 Andand by you to pass by you into Macedonia, and toagain comefrom againMacedonia outto ofcome Macedonia unto you, and of you to be broughtset forward on my wayjourney towardunto Judaea.
1:17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I useshew lightnessfickleness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be the yea yea, and the nay nay?
1:18 But as God is truefaithful, our word toward you wasis not yea and nay.
1:19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and TimotheusTimothy, was not yea and nay, but in him wasis yea.
1:20 For allhow many soever be the promises of God, in him areis the yea,: andwherefore inalso through him is the Amen, unto the glory of God bythrough us.
1:21 Now he whichthat stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
1:22 Whowho hath also sealed us, and givengave us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
1:23 MoreoverBut I call God for a recordwitness upon my soul, that to spare you I cameforbare notto ascome yet unto Corinth.
1:24 Not for that we have dominionLordship over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.
2:1 But I determined this withfor myself, that I would not come again to you inwith heavinesssorrow.
2:2 For if I make you sorry, who then is he then that maketh me glad, but thehe samethat which is made sorry by me?
2:3 And I wrote this samevery unto youthing, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
2:4 For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grievedmade sorry, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
2:5 But if any havehath caused griefsorrow, he hath caused sorrow, not grievedto me, but in part: that I maypress not overchargetoo heavily to you all.
2:6 Sufficient to such a manone is this punishment, which was inflicted ofby the many.;
2:7 Soso that contrariwise ye oughtshould rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhapsby any means such a one should be swallowed up with his overmuch sorrow.
2:8 Wherefore I beseech you thatto ye would confirm your love toward him.
2:9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye beare obedient in all things.
2:10 ToBut to whom ye forgive any thinganything, I forgive also: for ifwhat I forgavealso anyhave thingforgiven, toif whom I forgavehave itforgiven anything, for your sakes forgavehave I forgiven it in the person of Christ;
2:11 Lestthat Satanno shouldadvantage getmay anbe advantagegained ofover us by Satan: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2:12 Furthermore,Now when I came to Troas tofor preachthe Christsgospel gospelof Christ, and when a door was opened unto me ofin the Lord,
2:13 I had no restrelief infor my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went fromforth thence into Macedonia.
2:14 NowBut thanks be unto God, which always causethleadeth us toin triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest through us the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
2:15 For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ unto God, in them that are being saved, and in them that perish:are perishing;
2:16 Toto the one wea are the savour offrom death unto death; and to the other thea savour offrom life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
2:17 For we are not as the many, whichcorrupting corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, speak we in Christ.
3:1 DoAre we beginbeginning again to commend ourselves? or need we, as do some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
3:2 Ye are our epistle, written in our hearts, known and read of all men:;
3:3 Forasmuchbeing asmade manifest that ye are manifestlyan declared to be the epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables that are hearts of the heartflesh.
3:4 And such trustconfidence have we through Christ to God ward:
3:5 Notnot that we are sufficient of ourselves, to thinkaccount anyanything thing as offrom ourselves; but our sufficiency is offrom God;
3:6 Whowho also hath made us ablesufficient as ministers of thea new testamentcovenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
3:7 But if the ministration of death, written, and engraven inon stones, wascame gloriouswith glory, so that the children of Israel could not look stedfastly beholdupon the face of Moses for the glory of his countenanceface; which glory was topassing be done away:
3:8 Howhow shall not rather the ministration of the spirit be ratherwith gloriousglory?
3:9 For if the ministration of condemnation beis glory, much morerather doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
3:10 For evenverily that which washath been made glorious hadhath nonot glorybeen made glorious in this respect, by reason of the glory that excellethsurpasseth.
3:11 For if that which ispasseth done away was gloriouswith glory, much more that which remaineth is gloriousin glory.
3:12 SeeingHaving thentherefore thatsuch wea have such hope, we use great plainnessboldness of speech:,
3:13 Andand are not as Moses, whichwho put a veil overupon his face, that the children of Israel couldshould not look stedfastly lookon to the end of that which iswas abolishedpassing away:
3:14 Butbut their minds were blindedhardened: for until this very day remainethat the samereading vailof untakenthe awayold incovenant the readingsame ofveil theremaineth old testamentunlifted; which vailveil is done away in Christ.
3:15 But even unto this day, whenwhensoever Moses is read, thea vailveil islieth upon their heart.
3:16 NeverthelessBut whenwhensoever it shall turn to the Lord, the vailveil shallis be taken away.
3:17 Now the Lord is thatthe Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
3:18 But we all, with openunveiled face beholdingreflecting as in a glassmirror the glory of the Lord, are changedtransformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as byfrom the SpiritLord of the LordSpirit.
4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we haveobtained received mercy, we faint not;:
4:2 Butbut we have renounced the hidden things of dishonestyshame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every mans conscience in the sight of God.
4:3 But and if our gospel beis hidveiled, it is hidveiled toin them that are lostperishing:
4:4 Inin whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of themthe which believe notunbelieving, lestthat the light of the glorious gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shinenot untodawn upon them.
4:5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus theas Lord;, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus sake.
4:6 ForSeeing it is God, whothat commandedsaid, theLight lightshall to shine out of darkness, hathwho shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellencyexceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not offrom us.ourselves;
4:8 Wewe are troubledpressed on every side, yet not distressedstraitened; we are perplexed, butyet not inunto despair;
4:9 Persecutedpursued, butyet not forsaken; castsmitten down, butyet not destroyed;
4:10 Alwaysalways bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus mightmay be mademanifested manifest in our body.
4:11 For we which live are alwaysalway delivered unto death for Jesus sake, that the life also of Jesus mightmay be mademanifested manifest in our mortal flesh.
4:13 WeBut having the same spirit of faith, according asto itthat which is written, I believed, and therefore havedid I spokenspeak; we also believe, and therefore also we speak;
4:14 Knowingknowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also bywith Jesus, and shall present us with you.
4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace, mightbeing multiplied through the thanksgivingmany, ofmay manycause redoundthe thanksgiving to abound unto the glory of God.
4:16 ForWherefore which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perishis decaying, yet theour inward man is renewed day by day.
4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for athe moment, worketh for us amore farand more exceedingexceedingly andan eternal weight of glory;
4:18 Whilewhile we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
5:1 For we know that if ourthe earthly house of thisour tabernacle werebe dissolved, we have a building offrom God, ana house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens.
5:2 For verily in this we groan, earnestlylonging desiring to be clothed upon with our househabitation which is from heaven:
5:3 Ifif so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.
5:4 For indeed we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened:; not for that we would be unclothed, but that we would be clothed upon, that mortalitywhat mightis mortal may be swallowed up of life.
5:5 Now he that hath wrought us for thethis selfsamevery thing is God, who alsogave hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
5:6 ThereforeBeing wetherefore are always confidentof good courage, and knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
5:7 Forfor we walk by faith, not by sight:;
5:8 Wewe are confidentof good courage, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be presentat home with the Lord.
5:9 Wherefore also we labour,make thatit our aim, whether presentat home or absent, weto may be acceptedwell ofpleasing unto him.
5:10 For we must all appearbe made manifest before the judgmentjudgement seat of Christ; that everyeach one may receive the things done in histhe body, according to thatwhat he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
5:11 Knowing therefore the terrorfear of the Lord, we persuade men;, but we are made manifest unto God; and I trusthope alsothat we are made manifest also in your consciences.
5:12 ForWe weare commend not again commending ourselves again unto you, but givespeak as giving you occasion toof gloryglorying on our behalf, that ye may have somewhatwherewith to answer them whichthat glory in appearance, and not in heart.
5:13 For whether we beare beside ourselves, it is tounto God:; or whether we beare of sober mind, it is forunto your causeyou.
5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, thentherefore were all dead:died;
5:15 Andand that he died for all, that they which live should notno henceforthlonger live unto themselves, but unto him whichwho died for them,their sakes died and rose again.
5:16 Wherefore we henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea,even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforthwe know we him so no more.
5:17 ThereforeWherefore if any man beis in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, allthey things are become new.
5:18 AndBut all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself bythrough Jesus Christ, and hathgave givenunto to us the ministry of reconciliation;
5:19 Toto wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputingreckoning unto them their trespasses, unto them; and hathhaving committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
5:20 NowWe then we are ambassadors fortherefore on behalf of Christ, as though God didwere beseechentreating you by us: we praybeseech you inon Christsbehalf steadof Christ, be ye reconciled to God.
5:21 ForHim who knew no sin he hath made him to be sin foron us,our who knew no sinbehalf; that we might bebecome made the righteousness of God in him.
6:1 WeAnd then,working as workers together with him, beseechwe youentreat also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
6:2 Forfor he saith, IAt havean heardacceptable theetime inI ahearkened timeunto acceptedthee, andAnd in thea day of salvation havedid I succouredsuccour thee: behold, now is the acceptedacceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.:
6:3 Givinggiving no offenceoccasion of stumbling in any thinganything, that theour ministryministration be not blamed:;
6:4 Butbut in alleverything thingscommending approving ourselves, as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
6:5 Inin stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
6:6 Byin pureness, byin knowledge, byin long sufferinglongsuffering, byin kindness, byin the Holy Ghost, byin love unfeigned,
6:7 Byin the word of truth, byin the power of God,; by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
6:8 Byby honourglory and dishonour, by evil report and good report:; as deceivers, and yet true;
6:9 Asas unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
6:10 Asas sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
6:11 OOur ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, O Corinthians, our heart is enlarged.
6:12 Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowelsaffections.
6:13 Now for a recompencerecompense in thelike same,kind I speak as unto my children, be ye also enlarged.
6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hathhave righteousness withand unrighteousnessiniquity? andor what communion hath light with darkness?
6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what partportion hath hea thatbeliever believeth with an infidelunbeliever?
6:16 And what agreement hath thea temple of God with idols? for yewe are thea temple of the living God; even as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
6:17 Wherefore comeCome ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, andAnd touch notno the unclean thing; andAnd I will receive you.,
6:18 And will be to you a Father unto you, andAnd ye shall be myto me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthinessdefilement of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
7:2 ReceiveOpen your hearts to us;: we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we havetook defraudedadvantage of no man.
7:3 I speaksay it not this to condemn you: for I have said before, that ye are in our hearts to die together and live with youtogether.
7:4 Great is my boldness of speech toward you, great is my glorying ofon youyour behalf: I am filled with comfort, I amoverflow exceedingwith joyfuljoy in all our tribulationaffliction.
7:5 For, even when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no restrelief, but we were troubledafflicted on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
7:6 Nevertheless God,he that comforteth thosethe thatlowly, areeven cast downGod, comforted us by the coming of Titus;
7:7 Andand not by his coming only, but also by the consolationcomfort wherewith he was comforted in you, whenwhile he told us your earnest desirelonging, your mourning, your ferventzeal mindfor toward me; so that I rejoiced theyet more.
7:8 For though I made you sorry with amy letterepistle, I do not repentregret it, though I did repent:regret; for I perceivesee that thethat same epistle hath made you sorry, though it were but for a season.
7:9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowedwere tomade sorry unto repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly mannersort, that ye might receivesuffer damageloss by us in nothing.
7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance tounto salvation, nota torepentance bewhich repentedbringeth ofno regret: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
7:11 For behold, this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowedwere made sorry after a godly sort, what carefulnessearnest care it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desirelonging, yea, what zeal, yea, what revengeavenging! In alleverything things ye have approved yourselves to be clearpure in thisthe matter.
7:12 Wherefore,So thoughalthough I wrote unto you, I didwrote it not for his cause that haddid done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered the wrong, but that ouryour earnest care for us might be made manifest unto you in the sight of God might appear unto you.
7:13 Therefore we werehave been comforted: and in yourour comfort: yea,we andjoyed exceedingly the more joyedexceedingly we for the joy of Titus, because his spirit washath been refreshed by you all.
7:14 For if in anything I have boastedgloried any thing to him ofon youyour behalf, I amwas not ashamedput to shame; but as we spake all things to you in truth, even so our boastingglorying also, which I made before Titus, iswas found ato be truth.
7:15 And his inward affection is more abundantabundantly toward you, whilst he remembereth the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.
7:16 I rejoice therefore that in everything I haveam confidenceof ingood youcourage inconcerning all thingsyou.
8:1 Moreover, brethren, we domake youknown to wityou of the grace of God bestowedwhich onhath been given in the churches of Macedonia;
8:2 Howhow that in amuch greatproof trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
8:3 For according to their power, I bear recordwitness, yea, and beyond their power, they weregave willing of themselves;their own accord,
8:4 Prayingbeseeching us with much intreatyentreaty thatin weregard wouldof receivethis thegrace gift, and take upon us the fellowship ofin the ministering to the saints.:
8:5 Andand this they did, not as we had hoped, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and untoto us by the will of God.
8:6 Insomuch that we desiredexhorted Titus, that as he had begunmade a beginning before, so he would also finishcomplete in you thethis same grace also.
8:7 Therefore,But as ye abound in every thingeverything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligenceearnestness, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
8:8 I speak not by way of commandment, but byas occasionproving ofthrough the forwardnessearnestness of others, and to prove the sincerity also of your love.
8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might bebecome rich.
8:10 And herein I give my advicejudgement: for this is expedient for you, who havewere begunthe beforefirst to make a beginning a year ago, not only to do, but also to be forward a year agowill.
8:11 NowBut thereforenow performcomplete the doing of italso; that as there was athe readiness to will, so there may be athe performancecompletion also out of thatyour which ye haveability.
8:12 For if therethe bereadiness firstis a willing mindthere, it is acceptedacceptable according toas that a man hath, and not according toas that he hath not.
8:13 For I meansay not this, that otherothers menmay be eased, and ye burdeneddistressed:
8:14 Butbut by an equality,; thatyour nowabundance atbeing thisa timesupply yourat abundancethis maypresent betime a supply for their want, that their abundance also may bebecome a supply for your want:; that there may be equality:
8:15 Asas it is written, He that had gathered much had nothing over; and he that had gathered little had no lack.
8:16 But thanks be to God, which putputteth the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus for you.
8:17 For indeed he accepted theour exhortation; but being morehimself forwardvery earnest, he went forth unto you of his own accord he went unto you.
8:18 And we have sent together with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel throughoutis spread through all the churches;
8:19 Andand not thatonly onlyso, but who was also chosenappointed ofby the churches to travel with us within the matter of this grace, which is administeredministered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declarationto ofshew yourour ready mindreadiness:
8:20 Avoiding this, that noany man should blame us in the matter of this abundancebounty which is administeredministered by us:
8:21 Providingfor we take thought for honestthings thingshonourable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
8:22 And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimesmany times proved diligentearnest in many things, but now much more diligentearnest, uponby reason of the great confidence which Ihe havehath in you.
8:23 Whether any doinquire enquireabout of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelpermy concerningfellow worker to you: ward; or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, andthey are the glory of Christ.
8:24 WhereforeShew shew ye totherefore unto them, andin beforethe face of the churches, the proof of your love, and of our boastingglorying on your behalf.
9:2 Forfor I know the forwardness of your mindreadiness, forof which I boastglory ofon youyour behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia washath readybeen prepared for a year agopast; and your zeal hath provokedstirred up very many of them.
9:3 YetBut I have I sent the brethren, lestthat our boastingglorying ofon youyour shouldbehalf may not be inmade vainvoid in this behalfrespect; that, even as I said, ye may be readyprepared:
9:4 Lestlest haplyby ifany theymeans, ofif Macedoniathere come with me any of Macedonia, and find you unprepared, we that we say not, ye should be ashamedput to shame in this same confident boastingconfidence.
9:5 Therefore I thought it necessary therefore to exhortentreat the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your aforepromised bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousnessextortion.
9:6 But this I say, He whichthat soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he whichthat soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
9:7 EveryLet each man do according as he purposethhath purposed in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound towardunto you; that ye, having always having all sufficiency in all thingseverything, may abound tounto every good work:
9:9 Asas it is written, He hath dispersedscattered abroad;, he hath given to the poor:; hisHis righteousness remainethabideth for ever.
9:10 NowAnd he that ministerethsupplieth seed to the sower bothand minister bread for your food, shall supply and multiply your seed sownfor sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;:
9:11 Beingye being enriched in everyeverything thingunto to all bountifulnessliberality, which causethworketh through us thanksgiving to God.
9:12 For the administrationministration of this service not only suppliethfilleth up the wantmeasure of the wants of the saints, but isaboundeth abundant also bythrough many thanksgivings unto God;
9:13 Whilesseeing bythat through the experimentproving of you by this ministration they glorify God for the obedience of your professedconfession subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your liberalcontribution distribution unto them, and unto all men;
9:14 Andwhile bythey theirthemselves prayeralso, forwith yousupplication on your behalf, which long after you forby reason of the exceeding grace of God in you.
9:15 Thanks be untoto God for his unspeakable gift.
10:1 Now I Paul myself beseechentreat you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I who in your presence am baselowly among you, but being absent am boldof good courage toward you:
10:2 Butyea, I beseech you, that I may not be bold when Ipresent amshew presentcourage with thatthe confidence, wherewith I thinkcount to be bold against some, which thinkcount of us as if we walked according to the flesh.
10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war afteraccording to the flesh:
10:4 Forfor the weapons of our warfare are not carnalof the flesh, but mighty throughbefore God to the pullingcasting down of strong holds;
10:5 Castingcasting down imaginations, and every high thing that exaltethis itselfexalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
10:6 Andand havingbeing in a readiness to revengeavenge all disobedience, when your obedience isshall be fulfilled.
10:7 DoYe ye look onat the things afterthat theare outwardbefore appearance?your ifface. If any man trusttrusteth toin himself that he is Christs, let him ofconsider himselfthis thinkagain thiswith againhimself, that, even as he is Christs, even so also are we Christs.
10:8 For though I should boastglory somewhat moreabundantly ofconcerning our authority, which the Lord hathgave givenfor usbuilding foryou edificationup, and not for yourcasting destructionyou down, I shouldshall not be ashamedput to shame:
10:9 Thatthat I may not seem as if I would terrify you by my letters.
10:10 For, hisHis letters, they say they, are weighty and powerfulstrong; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptibleof no account.
10:11 Let such ana one thinkreckon this, that, suchwhat as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such willare we be also in deed when we are present.
10:12 For we dareare not makebold ourselvesto of the number, or compare ourselves with somecertain of them that commend themselves: but they themselves, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves amongwith themselves, are notwithout wiseunderstanding.
10:13 But we will not boastglory ofbeyond things without our measure, but according to the measure of the ruleprovince which God hathapportioned distributed to us, as a measure, to reach even unto you.
10:14 For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measureovermuch, as though we reached not unto you: for we arecame comeeven as far as tounto you also in preaching the gospel of Christ:
10:15 Notnot boastingglorying ofbeyond things without our measure, that is, ofin other mens labours; but having hope that, whenas your faith is increasedgroweth, that we shall be enlargedmagnified byin you according to our ruleprovince abundantlyunto further abundance,
10:16 Toso as to preach the gospel ineven unto the regionsparts beyond you, and not to boastglory in anotheranothers mansprovince linein regard of things made ready to our hand.
11:1 Would tothat God ye could bear with me in a little in my follyfoolishness: andnay indeed bear with me.
11:2 For I am jealous over you with a godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I maymight present you as a chastepure virgin to Christ.
11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve throughin his subtiltycraftiness, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity that is intoward Christ.
11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we havedid not preachedpreach, or if ye receive anothera different spirit, which ye havedid not receivedreceive, or anothera different gospel, which ye havedid not acceptedaccept, ye mightdo well to bear with him.
11:5 For I supposereckon that I wasam not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
11:6 But though I be rude in speech, yet am I not in knowledge; butnay, in everything we have beenmade throughlyit made manifest among youall inmen allto thingsyou ward.
11:7 HaveOr did I committedcommit ana offencesin in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freelyfor nought?
11:8 I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, tothat doI might minister unto you service.;
11:9 Andand when I was present with you, and wantedwas in want, I was chargeablenot toa noburden on any man:; for that which was lacking to me the brethren, whichwhen they came from Macedonia, supplied: the measure of my want; and in alleverything things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
11:10 As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boastingglorying in the regions of Achaia.
11:12 But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire an occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
11:13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, transformingfashioning themselves into the apostles of Christ.
11:14 And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself is transformed into an angel of light.
11:15 ThereforeIt it is no great thing therefore if his ministers also befashion transformedthemselves as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
11:16 I say again, letLet no man think me a foolfoolish; but if otherwiseye do, yet as afoolish fool receive me, that I also may boastglory myself a little.
11:17 That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as itin were foolishlyfoolishness, in this confidence of boastingglorying.
11:19 For ye sufferbear foolswith the foolish gladly, seeingbeing yewise yourselves are wise.
11:20 For ye suffer,bear ifwith a man, bringif he bringeth you into bondage, if ahe mandevoureth devour you, if ahe mantaketh takeyou of youcaptive, if ahe manexalteth exalt himself, if ahe mansmiteth smite you on the face.
11:21 I speak asby concerningway reproachof disparagement, as though we had been weak. HowbeitYet whereinsoever any is bold, I speak foolishlyin foolishness, I am bold also.
11:23 Are they ministers of Christ? I speak as aone foolbeside himself I am more; in labours more abundantabundantly, in stripesprisons abovemore measureabundantly, in prisonsstripes moreabove frequentmeasure, in deaths oft.
11:25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day have I have been in the deep;
11:26 Inin journeyings often, in perils of watersrivers, in perils of robbers, in perils byfrom minemy own countrymen, in perils byfrom the heathenGentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
11:27 Inin wearinesslabour and painfulnesstravail, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.
11:28 Beside those things that are without, there is that which comethpresseth upon me daily, theanxiety carefor of all the churches.
11:29 Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offendedmade to stumble, and I burn not?
11:30 If I must needs glory, I will glory of the things whichthat concern minemy infirmitiesweakness.
11:31 The God and Father of ourthe Lord Jesus Christ, whichhe who is blessed for evermore, knoweth that I lie not.
11:32 In Damascus the governor under Aretas the king keptguarded the city of the damascenesDamascenes, within aorder garrison, desirous to apprehendtake me:
11:33 Andand through a window in a basket was I let down in a basket by the wall, and escaped his hands.
12:1 ItI ismust notneeds expedientglory, forthough meit doubtlessis tonot glory.expedient; but I will come to visions and revelationsRevelation of the Lord.
12:2 I knewknow a man in Christ, above fourteen years ago, whether in the body, I cannotknow tellnot; or whether out of the body, I cannotknow tell:not; God knoweth;, such ana one caught up even to the third heaven.
12:3 And I knewknow such a man, whether in the body, or outapart offrom the body, I cannotknow tell:not; God knoweth;,
12:4 Howhow that he was caught up into paradiseParadise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
12:5 OfOn behalf of such ana one will I glory: yetbut ofon myselfmine own behalf I will not glory, butsave in minemy infirmitiesweaknesses.
12:6 For thoughif I wouldshould desire to glory, I shall not be a foolfoolish; for I willshall sayspeak the truth: but now I forbear, lest any man should thinkaccount of me above that which he seeth me to be, or that he heareth offrom me.
12:7 And lestby Ireason shouldof bethe exaltedexceeding abovegreatness measureof through the abundanceRevelation ofwherefore, thethat revelationsI should not be exalted overmuch, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, thea messenger of Satan to buffet me, lestthat I should not be exalted above measureovermuch.
12:8 ForConcerning this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
12:9 And he hath said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strengthpower is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmitiesweaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
12:10 ThereforeWherefore I take pleasure in infirmitiesweaknesses, in reproachesinjuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christs sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
12:11 I am become afoolish: fool in glorying; ye have compelled me:; for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing amwas I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I beam nothing.
12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, inby signs, and wonders, and mighty deedsworks.
12:13 For what is itthere wherein ye were made inferior to otherthe rest of the churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensomea burden to you? forgive me this wrong.
12:14 Behold, this is the third time I am ready to come to you; and I will not be burdensomea burden to you: for I seek not yours, but you: for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
12:15 And I will verymost gladly spend and be spent for you;your thoughsouls. theIf more abundantly I love you more abundantly, theam less I beloved loved.the less?
12:16 But be it so, I did not myself burden you:; neverthelessbut, being crafty, I caught you with guile.
12:17 Did I maketake aadvantage gain of you by any one of them whom I have sent unto you?
12:18 I desiredexhorted Titus, and with him I sent athe brother with him. Did Titus maketake aany gainadvantage of you? walked we not inby the same spiritSpirit? walked we not in the same steps?
12:19 Again,Ye think yeall this time that we excuseare excusing ourselves unto you?. weIn speakthe beforesight of God speak we in Christ:. butBut we do all things, dearly beloved, are for your edifying.
12:20 For I fear, lest by any means, when I come, I shallshould not find you not such as I would, and thatshould Imyself shall be found untoof you such as ye would not:; lest by any means there should be debatesstrife, envyingsjealousy, wraths, strifesfactions, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:;
12:21 And lest, when I come again, my God willshould humble me amongbefore you, and that I shallshould bewailmourn for many whichof them that have sinned alreadyheretofore, and haverepented not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.
13:1 This is the third time I am coming to you. InAt the mouth of two witnesses or three witnesses shall every word be established.
13:2 I toldhave yousaid beforebeforehand, and foretellI youdo say beforehand, as ifwhen I werewas present, the second time;, andso now, being absent, now I write to them whichthat heretofore have sinned heretofore, and to all otherthe rest, that, if I come again, I will not spare:;
13:3 Sinceseeing that ye seek a proof of Christ speakingthat speaketh in me,; whichwho to you ward is not weak, but is mightypowerful in you.:
13:4 Forfor though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth bythrough the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him bythrough the power of God toward you.
13:5 ExamineTry yourselvesyour own selves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. KnowOr know ye not as to your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you,? exceptunless indeed ye be reprobates?reprobate.
13:6 But I trusthope that ye shall know that we are not reprobatesreprobate.
13:7 Now Iwe pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we shouldmay appear approved, but that ye shouldmay do that which is honesthonourable, though we be as reprobatesreprobate.
13:9 For we are gladrejoice, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this we also wepray wishfor, even your perfectionperfecting.
13:10 ThereforeFor this cause I write these things beingwhile absent, lestthat beingI presentmay Inot shouldwhen usepresent sharpnessdeal sharply, according to the powerauthority which the Lord hathgave given me tofor edificationbuilding up, and not tofor destructioncasting down.
13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect,perfected; be ofcomforted; good comfort, be of onethe same mind,; live in peace;: and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
