| 1:1 |
Paul an apostle of Christ Jesus Christthrough by the will of God to the saints whichthat are at Ephesus and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: |
| 1:2 |
Grace be to you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ |
| 1:3 |
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who hath blessed us with allevery spiritual blessingsblessing in the heavenly places in Christ: |
| 1:4 |
Accordingeven as he hathchose chosen us in him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and without blameblemish before him in love: |
| 1:5 |
Havinghaving predestinatedforeordained us unto the adoption ofas childrensons bythrough Jesus Christ tounto himself according to the good pleasure of his will |
| 1:6 |
Toto the praise of the glory of his grace whereinwhich he hathfreely madebestowed on us accepted in the belovedBeloved: |
| 1:7 |
Inin whom we have our redemption through his blood the forgiveness of sinsour trespasses according to the riches of his grace; |
| 1:8 |
Whereinwhich he hathmade aboundedto abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence; |
| 1:9 |
Havingmaking made known unto us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:him |
| 1:10 |
Thatunto ina the dispensation of the fulness of the times heto mightsum gatherup together in one all things in Christ boththe whichthings are in heaventhe heavens and whichthe arethings onupon the earth; even in him: I say |
| 1:11 |
Inin whom also we havewere obtainedmade ana inheritanceheritage beinghaving predestinatedbeen foreordained according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his ownwill; will: |
| 1:12 |
Thatto the end that we should be tounto the praise of his glory we who firsthad trustedbefore hoped in Christ: |
| 1:13 |
Inin whom ye also trustedhaving after that ye heard the word of the truth the gospel of your salvation: —in whom having also after that ye believed ye were sealed with thatthe holyHoly Spirit of promise |
| 1:14 |
Whichwhich is thean earnest of our inheritance untilunto the redemption of theGods purchasedown possession unto the praise of his glory |
| 1:15 |
WhereforeFor this cause I also afterhaving I heard of yourthe faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you and the love untowhich ye show toward all the saints |
| 1:16 |
Ceasecease not to give thanks for you making mention of you in my prayers; |
| 1:17 |
Thatthat the God of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father of glory may give unto you thea spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:; |
| 1:18 |
Thehaving the eyes of your understandingheart being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints |
| 1:19 |
Andand what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us ward who believe according to thethat working of the strength of his mightymight power |
| 1:20 |
Whichwhich he wrought in Christ when he raised him from the dead and setmade him to sit at his own right hand in the heavenly places |
| 1:21 |
Farfar above all principalityrule and powerauthority and mightpower and dominion and every name that is named not only in this world but also in that which is to come: |
| 1:22 |
Andand hathhe put all things in subjection under his feet and gave him to be the head over all things to the church |
| 1:23 |
Whichwhich is his body the fulness of him that filleth all in all |
| 2:1 |
And you hathdid he quickenedmake whoalive when ye were dead inthrough your trespasses and sins; |
| 2:2 |
Whereinwherein inye timeonce past ye walked according to the course of this world according to the prince of the powerpowers of the air of the spirit that now worketh in the childrensons of disobedience:; |
| 2:3 |
Amongamong whom we also we all hadonce ourlived conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh fulfillingdoing the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath even as othersthe rest:— |
| 2:4 |
Butbut God whobeing is rich in mercy for his great love wherewith he loved us |
| 2:5 |
Eveneven when we were dead inthrough sinsour hathtrespasses quickenedmade us alive together with Christ by grace have ye arebeen saved; |
| 2:6 |
Andand hath raised us up togetherwith him and made us to sit togetherwith him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus: |
| 2:7 |
Thatthat in the ages to come he might shewshow the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us throughin Christ Jesus: |
| 2:8 |
Forfor by grace arehave ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:; |
| 2:9 |
Notnot of works lestthat anyno man should boastglory |
| 2:10 |
For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus untofor good works which God hathafore beforeprepared ordained that we should walk in them |
| 2:11 |
Wherefore remember that once ye beingthe in time past Gentiles in the flesh who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; |
| 2:12 |
Thatthat ye were at that time yeseparate werefrom without Christ beingalienated aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of the promise having no hope and without God in the world: |
| 2:13 |
But now in Christ Jesus ye whothat sometimesonce were far off are made nigh byin the blood of Christ |
| 2:14 |
For he is our peace who hath made both one and hathbrake broken down the middle wall of partition between us; |
| 2:15 |
Havinghaving abolished in his flesh the enmity even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; forthat tohe makemight create in himself of twainthe two one new man so making peace; |
| 2:16 |
Andand that he might reconcile them both unto God in one body byunto God through the cross having slain the enmity thereby: |
| 2:17 |
Andand he came and preached peace to you whichthat were afarfar off and peace to them that were nigh: |
| 2:18 |
Forfor through him we both have our access byin one Spirit unto the Father |
| 2:19 |
NowSo thereforethen ye are no more strangers and foreignerssojourners but fellowcitizensye are fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God; |
| 2:20 |
Andbeing are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets Christ Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; |
| 2:21 |
Inin whom alleach theseveral building fitly framed together groweth untointo ana holy temple in the Lord:; |
| 2:22 |
Inin whom ye also are builded together for ana habitation of God throughin the Spirit |
| 3:1 |
For this cause I Paul the prisoner of Christ Jesus Christin forbehalf of you Gentiles— |
| 3:2 |
Ifif so be that ye have heard of the dispensation of thethat grace of God which iswas given me to you ward:; |
| 3:3 |
Howhow that by revelation hewas made known unto me the mystery; as I wrote aforebefore in few words |
| 3:4 |
Wherebywhereby when ye read ye maycan understandperceive my knowledgeunderstanding in the mystery of Christ; |
| 3:5 |
Whichwhich in other agesgenerations was not made known unto the sons of men as it ishath now been revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets byin the Spirit; |
| 3:6 |
Thatto wit that the Gentiles shouldare befellow fellowheirsheirs and fellow members of the same body and fellow partakers of histhe promise in Christ byJesus through the gospel: |
| 3:7 |
Whereofwhereof I was made a minister according to the gift of thethat grace of God which was given unto me byaccording to the effectual working of his power |
| 3:8 |
Unto me who am less than the least of all saints iswas this grace given thatto I should preach amongunto the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; |
| 3:9 |
Andand to make all men see what is the fellowshipdispensation of the mystery which fromfor theages beginning of the world hath been hid in God who created all things; by Jesus Christ: |
| 3:10 |
Toto the intent that now unto the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places might be made known bythrough the church the manifold wisdom of God |
| 3:11 |
Accordingaccording to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: |
| 3:12 |
Inin whom we have boldness and access within confidence bythrough theour faith ofin him |
| 3:13 |
Wherefore I desireask that ye faintmay not faint at my tribulations for you which isare your glory |
| 3:14 |
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ |
| 3:15 |
Offrom whom theevery whole family in heaven and on earth is named |
| 3:16 |
Thatthat he would grant you according to the riches of his glory tothat ye may be strengthened with mightpower bythrough his Spirit in the innerinward man; |
| 3:17 |
Thatthat Christ may dwell in your hearts bythrough faith; to the end that ye being rooted and grounded in love |
| 3:18 |
Maymay be ablestrong to comprehendapprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and depthheight and height;depth |
| 3:19 |
Andand to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge that ye mightmay be filled withunto all the fulness of God |
| 3:21 |
Untounto him be the glory in the church byand in Christ Jesus throughoutunto all agesgenerations worldfor withoutever endand ever Amen |
| 4:1 |
I therefore the prisoner ofin the Lord beseech you thatto ye walk worthyworthily of the vocationcalling wherewith ye arewere called |
| 4:2 |
Withwith all lowliness and meekness with longsuffering forbearing one another in love; |
| 4:3 |
Endeavouringgiving diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace |
| 4:4 |
There is one body and one Spirit even as also ye arewere called in one hope of your calling; |
| 4:5 |
Oneone Lord one faith one baptism |
| 4:6 |
Oneone God and Father of all who is aboveover all and through all and in youall all |
| 4:7 |
But unto everyeach one of us iswas giventhe grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ |
| 4:8 |
Wherefore he saith When he ascended up on high he led captivity captive andAnd gave gifts unto men |
| 4:9 |
Now thatthis heHe ascended what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth |
| 4:10 |
He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all the heavens that he might fill all things |
| 4:11 |
And he gave some to be apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers; |
| 4:12 |
Forfor the perfecting of the saints forunto the work of theministering ministryunto for the edifyingbuilding up of the body of Christ: |
| 4:13 |
Tilltill we all comeattain inunto the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God unto a perfectfullgrown man unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: |
| 4:14 |
Thatthat we henceforthmay be no morelonger children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men andin cunning craftiness wherebyafter theythe liewiles inof waiterror; to deceive; |
| 4:15 |
Butbut speaking the truth in love may grow up into him in all things whichinto him who is the head even Christ:; |
| 4:16 |
Fromfrom whom all the whole body fitly joinedframed together and compactedknit bytogether through that which every joint supplieth according to the effectual working in thedue measure of everyeach several part maketh the increase of the body unto the edifyingbuilding up of itself in love |
| 4:17 |
This I say therefore and testify in the Lord that ye henceforthno longer walk not as otherthe Gentiles also walk in the vanity of their mind |
| 4:18 |
Havingbeing thedarkened understandingin darkenedtheir beingunderstanding alienated from the life of God throughbecause of the ignorance that is in them because of the blindnesshardening of their heart:; |
| 4:19 |
Whowho being past feeling havegave given themselves overup untoto lasciviousness to work all uncleanness with greediness |
| 4:20 |
But ye havedid not so learnedlearn Christ; |
| 4:21 |
Ifif so be that ye have heard him and havewere been taught byin him even as the truth is in Jesus: |
| 4:22 |
Thatthat ye put offaway as concerning theyour former conversationmanner of life the old man whichthat iswaxeth corrupt accordingafter to the deceitfullusts lustsof deceit; |
| 4:23 |
Andand that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mind; |
| 4:24 |
Andand that ye put on the new man whichthat after God ishath been created in righteousness and trueholiness holinessof truth |
| 4:25 |
Wherefore putting away lyingfalsehood speak everyye man truth each one with his neighbourneighbor: for we are members one of another |
| 4:27 |
Neitherneither give place to the devil |
| 4:28 |
Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labourlabor working with his hands the thing whichthat is good that he may have whereof to give to him that needethhath need |
| 4:29 |
Let no corrupt communicationspeech proceed out of your mouth but thatsuch whichas is good tofor edifying as the useneed ofmay edifyingbe that it may ministergive grace untoto thethem hearersthat hear |
| 4:30 |
And grieve not the holyHoly Spirit of God wherebyin whom ye arewere sealed unto the day of redemption |
| 4:31 |
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamourclamor and evilrailing speaking be put away from you with all malice: |
| 4:32 |
Andand be ye kind one to another tenderhearted forgiving oneeach anotherother even as God foralso Christsin sakeChrist hathforgave forgiven you |
| 5:1 |
Be ye therefore followersimitators of God as dearbeloved children; |
| 5:2 |
Andand walk in love even as Christ also hath loved usyou and hathgave given himself up for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweetsmellingsweet savoursmell |
| 5:3 |
But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness let it not even be once named among you as becometh saints; |
| 5:4 |
Neithernor filthiness nor foolish talking noror jesting which are not convenientbefitting: but rather giving of thanks |
| 5:5 |
For this ye know of a surety that no whoremongerfornicator nor unclean person nor covetous man who is an idolater hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and ofGod God |
| 5:6 |
Let no man deceive you with vainempty words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the childrensons of disobedience |
| 5:7 |
Be not ye therefore partakers with them; |
| 5:8 |
Forfor ye were sometimesonce darkness but now are yenow light in the Lord: walk as children of light: |
| 5:9 |
Forfor the fruit of the Spiritlight is in all goodness and righteousness and truth; |
| 5:10 |
Provingproving what is acceptablewell pleasing unto the Lord; |
| 5:11 |
Andand have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather even reprove them; |
| 5:12 |
Forfor the things which are done by them in secret it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret |
| 5:13 |
But all things thatwhen they are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoevereverything doththat makeis made manifest is light |
| 5:14 |
Wherefore he saith Awake thou that sleepest and arise from the dead and Christ shall giveshine upon thee light |
| 5:15 |
SeeLook thentherefore thatcarefully how ye walk circumspectly not as foolsunwise but as wise; |
| 5:16 |
Redeemingredeeming the time because the days are evil |
| 5:17 |
Wherefore be ye not unwisefoolish but understandingunderstand what the will of the Lord is |
| 5:18 |
And be not drunkdrunken with wine wherein is excess;riot but be filled with the Spirit; |
| 5:19 |
Speakingspeaking one to yourselvesanother in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody inwith your heart to the Lord; |
| 5:20 |
Givinggiving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God even the Father; |
| 5:21 |
Submittingsubjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of GodChrist |
| 5:22 |
Wives submitbe yourselvesin subjection unto your own husbands as unto the Lord |
| 5:23 |
For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ also is the head of the church: andbeing hehimself is the saviour of the body |
| 5:24 |
ThereforeBut as the church is subject untoto Christ so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everyeverything thing |
| 5:25 |
Husbands love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself up for it; |
| 5:26 |
Thatthat he might sanctify andit cleansehaving cleansed it withby the washing of water bywith the word |
| 5:27 |
Thatthat he might present itthe church to himself a glorious church not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish |
| 5:28 |
SoEven so ought menhusbands also to love their own wives as their own bodies He that loveth his own wife loveth himself: |
| 5:29 |
Forfor no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it even as theChrist Lordalso the church:; |
| 5:30 |
Forbecause we are members of his body of his flesh and of his bones |
| 5:31 |
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall becleave joinedto unto his wife; and theythe two shall bebecome one flesh |
| 5:32 |
This mystery is a great mystery: but I speak concerningin regard of Christ and of the church |
| 5:33 |
Nevertheless letdo everyye onealso ofseverally youlove ineach particularone sohis loveown his wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she reverencefear her husband |
| 6:2 |
HonourHonor thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; |
| 6:3 |
Thatthat it may be well with thee and thou mayest live long on the earth |
| 6:4 |
And ye fathers provoke not your children to wrath: but bringnurture them up in the nurturechastening and admonition of the Lord |
| 6:5 |
Servants be obedient tounto them that are your masters according to the flesh are your masters with fear and trembling in singleness of your heart as unto Christ; |
| 6:6 |
Notnot within the way of eyeservice as menpleasersmen pleasers; but as the servants of Christ doing the will of God from the heart; |
| 6:7 |
Withwith good will doing service as tounto the Lord and not tounto men: |
| 6:8 |
Knowingknowing that whatsoever good thing anyeach manone doeth the same shall he receive ofagain from the Lord whether he be bond or free |
| 6:9 |
And ye masters do the same things unto them forbearingand forbear threatening: knowing that yourhe who is both their Master alsoand yours is in heaven; neitherand there is thereno respect of persons with him |
| 6:10 |
Finally my brethren be strong in the Lord and in the powerstrength of his might |
| 6:11 |
Put on the whole armourarmor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil |
| 6:12 |
For weour wrestlewrestling is not against flesh and blood but against the principalities against the powers against the world rulers of thethis darkness ofagainst thisthe worldspiritual againsthosts spiritualof wickedness in highthe heavenly places |
| 6:13 |
Wherefore take untoup you the whole armourarmor of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand |
| 6:14 |
Stand therefore having girded your loins girt about with truth and having put on the breastplate of righteousness; |
| 6:15 |
Andand having shod your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; |
| 6:16 |
Abovewithal all taking up the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wickedevil one |
| 6:18 |
Praying always with all prayer and supplication praying at all seasons in the Spirit and watching thereunto within all perseverance and supplication for all the saints; |
| 6:19 |
Andand foron memy behalf that utterance may be given unto me thatin Iopening may open my mouth boldly to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel |
| 6:20 |
Forfor which I am an ambassador in bonds:chains; that thereinin it I may speak boldly as I ought to speak |
| 6:21 |
But that ye also may know my affairs and how I do Tychicus athe beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord shall make known to you all things: |
| 6:22 |
Whomwhom I have sent unto you for thethis samevery purpose that ye mightmay know our affairsstate and that he mightmay comfort your hearts |
| 6:24 |
Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ inwith sinceritya Amenlove incorruptible |
