| 1:1 |
Paul, an apostle —not from men, neithernor through man, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead,— |
| 1:2 |
and all the brethrenbrothers thatwho are with me, untoto the churchesassemblies of Galatia: |
| 1:3 |
Grace to you and peace from God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, |
| 1:4 |
who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us out of this present evil worldage, according to the will of our God and Father:— |
| 1:5 |
to whom be the glory forforever ever and ever. Amen. |
| 1:6 |
I marvel that yeyou are so quickly removingdeserting from him thatwho called you in the grace of Christ untoto a different gospel;good news, |
| 1:7 |
whichbut isthere notisnt another gospel:good onlynews. Only there are some thatwho trouble you, and wouldwant to pervert the gospelGood News of Christ. |
| 1:8 |
But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach untoto you any gospelgood news other than that which we preached untoto you, let him be anathemacursed. |
| 1:9 |
As we have said before, so say I now say again,: Ifif any man preachethpreaches untoto you any gospelgood news other than that which yeyou received, let him be anathemacursed. |
| 1:10 |
For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? orOr am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I shouldwouldnt not be a servant of Christ. |
| 1:11 |
ForBut I make known to you, brethrenbrothers, asconcerning touching the gospelGood News which was preached by me, that it is not afteraccording to man. |
| 1:12 |
For neitherI diddidnt I receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came to me through revelation of Jesus Christ. |
| 1:13 |
For yeyou have heard of my mannerway of lifeliving in time past in the Jews religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the churchassembly of God, and maderavaged havoc of it:. |
| 1:14 |
and I advanced in the Jews religion beyond many of minemy own age among my countrymen, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. |
| 1:15 |
But when it was the good pleasure of God, who separated me, even from my mothers womb, and called me through his grace, |
| 1:16 |
to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles;, straightway I conferreddidnt notimmediately confer with flesh and blood:, |
| 1:17 |
neithernor wentdid I go up to Jerusalem to themthose thatwho were apostles before me:, but I went away into Arabia;. andThen again I returned untoto Damascus. |
| 1:18 |
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit CephasPeter, and tarriedstayed with him fifteen days. |
| 1:19 |
But other of the other apostles I saw Ino none, one saveexcept James, the Lords brother. |
| 1:20 |
Now touchingabout the things which I write untoto you, behold, before God, IIm lienot notlying. |
| 1:21 |
Then I came intoto the regions of Syria and Cilicia. |
| 1:22 |
And I was still unknown by face untoto the churchesassemblies of JudaeaJudea which were in Christ:, |
| 1:23 |
but they only heard say, He thatwho once persecuted us now preachethpreaches the faith ofthat which he once madetried havoc;to destroy. |
| 1:24 |
andSo they glorified God in me. |
| 2:1 |
Then after thea spaceperiod of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me. |
| 2:2 |
And I went up by revelation;, and I laid before them the gospelGood News which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately before themthose who were of reputerespected, lestfor byfear anythat means I shouldmight be running, or had run, in vain. |
| 2:3 |
But not even Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:. |
| 2:4 |
andThis thatwas because of the false brethrenbrothers privilysecretly brought in, who camestole in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:, |
| 2:5 |
to whom we gave no place in the way of subjection, no, not for an hour;, that the truth of the gospelGood News might continue with you. |
| 2:6 |
But from those who were reputed to be somewhatimportant—whatever whatsoever they were, it makethmakes no matterdifference to me:; God acceptethdoesnt notshow manspartiality personto man—they, I say, who were ofrespected repute imparted nothing to me:, |
| 2:7 |
but contrariwiseto the contrary, when they saw that I had been intrustedentrusted with the gospelGood ofNews for the uncircumcisionuncircumcised, even as Peter with the gospelGood ofNews for the circumcisioncircumcised— |
| 2:8 |
for he thatwho wroughtworked forthrough Peter untoin the apostleship ofwith the circumcisioncircumcised wroughtalso forworked through me alsowith unto the Gentiles;— |
| 2:9 |
and when they perceived the grace that was given untoto me, James and Cephas and John, theythose who were reputed to be pillars, gave to meBarnabas and Barnabasme the right handshand of fellowship, that we should go untoto the Gentiles, and they untoto the circumcision;. |
| 2:10 |
They only theyasked wouldus thatto we should remember the poor; —which very thing I was also zealous to do. |
| 2:11 |
But when CephasPeter came to Antioch, I resisted him to thehis face, because he stood condemned. |
| 2:12 |
For before thatsome certainpeople came from James, he ate with the Gentiles;. butBut when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing themthose thatwho were of the circumcision. |
| 2:13 |
And the rest of the Jews dissembledjoined likewisehim within him;his insomuchhypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their dissimulationhypocrisy. |
| 2:14 |
But when I saw that they walkeddidnt notwalk uprightly according to the truth of the gospelGood News, I said untoto CephasPeter before them all, If thouyou, being a Jew, livestlive as do the Gentiles do, and not as do the Jews do, howwhy compellestdo thouyou compel the Gentiles to live as do the Jews do? |
| 2:15 |
We, being Jews by nature, and not Gentile sinners of the Gentiles, |
| 2:16 |
yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed onin Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law:, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. |
| 2:17 |
But if, while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a ministerservant of sin? GodCertainly forbid.not! |
| 2:18 |
For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a transgressorlaw breaker. |
| 2:19 |
For I through the law died untoto the law, that I might live untoto God. |
| 2:20 |
I have been crucified with Christ;, and it is no longer I thatwho live, but Christ livethlives in me:. andThat that life which I now live in the flesh, I live inby faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me. |
| 2:21 |
I dodont notreject make void the grace of God:. forFor if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nought.nothing! |
| 3:1 |
OFoolish foolish Galatians, who didhas bewitchbewitched you not to obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was openly setportrayed forthamong you as crucified? |
| 3:2 |
ThisI onlyjust wouldwant Ito learn this from you,: ReceivedDid yeyou receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? |
| 3:3 |
Are yeyou so foolish? havingHaving begun in the Spirit, are yeyou now perfectedcompleted in the flesh? |
| 3:4 |
Did yeyou suffer so many things in vain?, if it beis indeed in vain.? |
| 3:5 |
He therefore thatwho suppliethsupplies the Spirit to you the Spirit, and workethdoes miracles among you, doethdoes he do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? |
| 3:6 |
Even asso, Abraham believed God, and it was reckonedcounted untoto him for righteousness. |
| 3:7 |
Know therefore that theythose thatwho are of faith, the same are sonschildren of Abraham. |
| 3:8 |
AndThe the scriptureScripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospelGood News beforehand untoto Abraham, saying, In theeyou shall all the nations will be blessed. |
| 3:9 |
So then, theythose thatwho are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham. |
| 3:10 |
For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse:. forFor it is written, Cursed is everyeveryone one who continuethdoesnt notcontinue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them. |
| 3:11 |
Now that no man is justified by the law before God, is evident:, for, The righteous shallwill live by faith;. |
| 3:12 |
andThe the law is not of faith;, but, HeThe thatman doethwho does them shallwill live inby them. |
| 3:13 |
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us;. forFor it is written, Cursed is everyeveryone onewho thathangs hangeth on a tree:, |
| 3:14 |
that upon the Gentilesblessing of Abraham might come on the blessingGentiles ofthrough Abraham in Christ Jesus;, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. |
| 3:15 |
BrethrenBrothers, Ispeaking speakof afterhuman theterms, mannerthough of men: Though it beis butonly a mans covenant, yet when it hathhas been confirmed, no one makethmakes it void, or addethadds theretoto it. |
| 3:16 |
Now tothe Abrahampromises were thespoken promisesto spoken,Abraham and to his seedoffspring. He saithdoesnt notsay, AndTo to seedsdescendants, as of many;, but as of one, AndTo toyour thy seedoffspring, which is Christ. |
| 3:17 |
Now this I say this: A covenant confirmed beforehand by God in Christ, the law, which came four hundred and thirty years after, dothdoes not disannulannul, so as to make the promise of noneno effect. |
| 3:18 |
For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no more of promise:; but God hathhas granted it to Abraham by promise. |
| 3:19 |
WhatThen thenwhy is there the law? It was added because of transgressions, tilluntil the seedoffspring should come to whom the promise hathhas been made;. andIt it was ordained through angels by the hand of a mediator. |
| 3:20 |
Now a mediator is not abetween mediator of one;, but God is one. |
| 3:21 |
Is the law then against the promises of God? GodCertainly forbid:not! forFor if there had been a law given which could make alive, verilymost certainly righteousness would have been of the law. |
| 3:22 |
But the scriptureScripture shutimprisoned up all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to themthose thatwho believe. |
| 3:23 |
But before faith came, we were kept in wardcustody under the law, shutconfined upfor unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. |
| 3:24 |
So that the law ishas become our tutor to bring us untoto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. |
| 3:25 |
But now that faith ishas come, we are no longer under a tutor. |
| 3:26 |
For yeyou are all sonschildren of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus. |
| 3:27 |
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ didhave put on Christ. |
| 3:28 |
There canis be neither Jew nor Greek, there canis be neither bondslave nor free man, there canis beneither no male andnor female; for yeyou are all are one man in Christ Jesus. |
| 3:29 |
AndIf ifyou ye are Christs, then you are ye Abrahams seed, offspring and heirs according to promise. |
| 4:1 |
But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he differethis nothingno different from a bondservant, though he is Lord of all;, |
| 4:2 |
but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed ofby the father. |
| 4:3 |
So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the rudimentselemental principles of the world:. |
| 4:4 |
butBut when the fulnessfullness of the time came, God sent forthout his Son, born ofto a woman, born under the law, |
| 4:5 |
that he might redeem themthose thatwho were under the law, that we might receive the adoption ofas sonschildren. |
| 4:6 |
And because yeyou are sonschildren, God sent forthout the Spirit of his Son into ouryour hearts, crying, Abba, Father.! |
| 4:7 |
So thatyou thouare art no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through GodChrist. |
| 4:8 |
HowbeitHowever at that time, not knowing God, yeyou were in bondage to themthose thatwho by nature are nonot gods:. |
| 4:9 |
butBut now that yeyou have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, howwhy do you turn ye back again to the weak and beggarlymiserable rudimentselemental principles, whereuntoto yewhich you desire to be in bondage all over again? |
| 4:10 |
YeYou observe days, and months, and seasons, and years. |
| 4:11 |
I am afraid offor you, lestthat byI anymight meanshave Iwasted havemy bestowed labor uponfor you in vain. |
| 4:12 |
I beseechbeg you, brethrenbrothers, become as I am, for I also amhave become as yeyou are. YeYou did me no wrong:, |
| 4:13 |
but yeyou know that because of anweakness infirmityin of the flesh I preached the gospelGood untoNews to you the first time:. |
| 4:14 |
andThat that which was a temptation to you in my flesh, yeyou despiseddidnt not, despise nor rejectedreject; but yeyou received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. |
| 4:15 |
WhereWhat thenwas isthe thatblessing gratulationyou of yourselvesenjoyed? forFor I beartestify to you witness, that, if possible, yeyou would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me. |
| 4:16 |
So then, amhave I become your enemy, by telling you the truth? |
| 4:17 |
They zealously seek you in no good way;. nayNo, they desire to shutalienate you out, that yeyou may seek them. |
| 4:18 |
But it is always good to be zealouslyzealous sought in a good matter at all timescause, and not only when I am present with you. |
| 4:19 |
My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ beis formed in you— |
| 4:20 |
but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone;, for I am perplexed about you. |
| 4:21 |
Tell me, yeyou that desire to be under the law, dodont yeyou notlisten hearto the law? |
| 4:22 |
For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, one by the handmaidservant, and one by the freewomanfree woman. |
| 4:23 |
HowbeitHowever, the son by the handmaidservant iswas born afteraccording to the flesh;, but the son by the freewomanfree iswoman was born through promise. |
| 4:24 |
WhichThese things contain an allegory:, for these women are two covenants;. oneOne is from mountMount Sinai, bearing children untoto bondage, which is Hagar. |
| 4:25 |
NowFor this Hagar is mountMount Sinai in Arabia, and answerethanswers to the Jerusalem that exists now, is: for she is in bondage with her children. |
| 4:26 |
But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is ourthe mother of us all. |
| 4:27 |
For it is written, Rejoice, thouyou barren thatwho bearestdont not;bear. Break forthout and cryshout, thouyou thatwho travailestdont not:travail. For morethe aredesolate thewomen childrenhave ofmore thechildren desolate than of her thatwho hathhas thea husband. |
| 4:28 |
Now we, brethrenbrothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise. |
| 4:29 |
But as then, he thatwho was born afteraccording to the flesh persecuted him thatwho was born afteraccording to the Spirit, so also it is now. |
| 4:30 |
HowbeitHowever, what saithdoes the scriptureScripture say? CastThrow out the handmaidservant and her son:, for the son of the handmaidservant shallwill not inherit with the son of the freewomanfree woman. |
| 4:31 |
WhereforeSo then, brethrenbrothers, we are not children of a handmaidservant, but of the freewomanfree woman. |
| 5:1 |
ForStand freedomfirm didtherefore in the liberty by which Christ sethas made us free: stand fast therefore, and dont be not entangled again inwith a yoke of bondage. |
| 5:2 |
Behold, I, Paul, saytell unto you, that, if yeyou receive circumcision, Christ will profit you nothing. |
| 5:3 |
YeaYes, I testify again to every man thatwho receivethreceives circumcision, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. |
| 5:4 |
YeYou are severedalienated from Christ, yeyou who woulddesire to be justified by the law;. yeYou arehave fallen away from grace. |
| 5:5 |
For we through the Spirit, by faith wait for the hope of righteousness. |
| 5:6 |
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availethnor uncircumcision amounts to anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith working through love. |
| 5:7 |
YeYou were running well;! whoWho hinderedinterfered with you that yeyou should not obey the truth? |
| 5:8 |
This persuasion cameis not offrom him thatwho callethcalls you. |
| 5:9 |
A little leavenyeast leavenethgrows through the whole lump. |
| 5:10 |
I have confidence totoward you ward in the Lord, that yeyou will bethink noneno otherwiseother minded:way. butBut he thatwho troublethtroubles you shallwill bear his judgment, whosoeverwhoever he beis. |
| 5:11 |
But I, brethrenbrothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? thenThen hath the stumbling block of the cross has been done awayremoved. |
| 5:12 |
I wouldwish that theythose thatwho unsettledisturb you would evencut gothemselves beyond circumcisionoff. |
| 5:13 |
For yeyou, brethrenbrothers, were called for freedom;. onlyOnly dont use not your freedom foras an occasionopportunity tofor the flesh, but through love be servants to one to another. |
| 5:14 |
For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: ThouYou shaltshall love thyyour neighbor as thyselfyourself. |
| 5:15 |
But if yeyou bite and devour one another, takebe heedcareful that yeyou bedont notconsume consumed one of another. |
| 5:16 |
But I say, Walkwalk by the Spirit, and yeyou shallwont notfulfill fulfil the lust of the flesh. |
| 5:17 |
For the flesh lustethlusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; forand these are contrary theto one toanother, the other; that yeyou may not do the things that yeyou woulddesire. |
| 5:18 |
But if yeyou are led by the Spirit, yeyou are not under the law. |
| 5:19 |
Now the worksdeeds of the flesh are manifestobvious, which are these: fornicationadultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lasciviousnesslustfulness, |
| 5:20 |
idolatry, sorcery, enmitieshatred, strife, jealousies, wrathsoutbursts of anger, factionsrivalries, divisions, partiesheresies, |
| 5:21 |
envyingsenvy, murders, drunkenness, revellingsorgies, and suchthings like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I didalso forewarnforewarned you, that theythose who practisepractice such things shallwill not inherit theGods kingdom of GodKingdom. |
| 5:22 |
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsufferingpatience, kindness, goodness, faithfulnessfaith, |
| 5:23 |
meeknessgentleness, and self control;. againstAgainst such things there is no law. |
| 5:24 |
AndThose theywho thatbelong areto of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with theits passions and the lusts thereof. |
| 5:25 |
If we live by the Spirit, lets also walk by the Spirit let us also walk. |
| 5:26 |
LetLets us not become vaingloriousconceited, provoking one another, and envying one another. |
| 6:1 |
BrethrenBrothers, even if a man beis overtakencaught in anysome trespassfault, yeyou who are spiritual, must restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness;, looking to thyself, yourself lestso thouthat you also bearent tempted. |
| 6:2 |
Bear ye one anothers burdens, and so fulfilfulfill the law of Christ. |
| 6:3 |
For if a man thinkeththinks himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceivethdeceives himself. |
| 6:4 |
But let each man proveexamine his own work, and then shall he will have hisreason gloryingto boast in regard of himself alone, and not ofin hissomeone neighborelse. |
| 6:5 |
For each man shallwill bear his own burden. |
| 6:6 |
But let him thatwho is taught in the word communicateshare untoall himgood thatthings teachethwith inhim allwho good thingsteaches. |
| 6:7 |
BeDont notbe deceived;. God is not mocked:, for whatsoeverwhatever a man sowethsows, that shall he will also reap. |
| 6:8 |
For he thatwho sowethsows untoto his own flesh shallwill offrom the flesh reap corruption;. butBut he thatwho sowethsows untoto the Spirit shallwill offrom the Spirit reap eternal life. |
| 6:9 |
AndLets let us not be weary in well doing: good, for we will reap in due season we shall reap, if we faintdont notgive up. |
| 6:10 |
So then, as we have opportunity, letlets usdo workwhat that which is good toward all men, and especially toward themthose thatwho are of the household of the faith. |
| 6:11 |
See with howwhat large letters I write untoto you with minemy own hand. |
| 6:12 |
As many as desire to make a fairgood showimpression in the flesh, they compel you to be circumcised;, onlyjust thatso they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. |
| 6:13 |
For not even they who receive circumcision dodont themselves keep the law; themselves, but they desire to have you circumcised, so that they may gloryboast in your flesh. |
| 6:14 |
But far be it from me to glory, boast saveexcept in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world hathhas been crucified untoto me, and I untoto the world. |
| 6:15 |
For in Christ Jesus neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creaturecreation. |
| 6:16 |
AndAs as many as shall walk by this rule, peace and mercy be uponon them, and mercy,on andGods upon the Israel of God. |
| 6:17 |
HenceforthFrom now on, let no manone troublecause me; any trouble, for I bear the marks of the Lord Jesus branded on my body the marks of Jesus. |
| 6:18 |
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethrenbrothers. Amen. |
