| 1:1 |
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour,Savior and Christthe Lord Jesus Christ our hope;, |
| 1:2 |
untoto Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God theour Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. |
| 1:3 |
As I exhortedurged theeyou to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, stay at Ephesus that thouyou mightestmight chargecommand certain men not to teach a different doctrine, |
| 1:4 |
neitherand not to givepay heedattention to fablesmyths and endless genealogies, which ministercause questionings, disputes rather than aGods dispensationstewardship, of God which is in faith; so do I now. |
| 1:5 |
But the endgoal of thethis chargecommand is love outfrom of a pure heart, and a good conscience, and sincere faith unfeigned:, |
| 1:6 |
from which things some, having swervedmissed the mark, have turned asideaway untoto vain talking;, |
| 1:7 |
desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor whereofabout what they confidentlystrongly affirm. |
| 1:8 |
But we know that the law is good, if a manperson useuses it lawfully, |
| 1:9 |
as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous manperson, but for the lawless and unrulyinsubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, |
| 1:10 |
for fornicatorsthe sexually immoral, for abusers of themselves with menhomosexuals, for menstealersslave traders, for liars, for false swearersperjurers, and iffor there be any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;, |
| 1:11 |
according to the gospelGood News of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. |
| 1:12 |
I thank him thatwho enabled me, even Christ Jesus our Lord, forbecause that he counted me faithful, appointing me to his service;, |
| 1:13 |
thoughalthough I wasused beforeto be a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious:insolent. howbeitHowever, I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief;. |
| 1:14 |
andThe the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. |
| 1:15 |
FaithfulThe saying is thefaithful saying, and worthy of all acceptationacceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners;, of whom I am chief:. |
| 1:16 |
howbeitHowever, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me asfirst, chief might Jesus Christ showmight forthdisplay all his longsuffering, patience for an ensampleexample of themthose thatwho shouldwere thereaftergoing to believe onin him untofor eternal life. |
| 1:17 |
Now untoto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, theto onlyGod Godwho alone is wise, be honor and glory forforever ever and ever. Amen. |
| 1:18 |
This charge I commit untothis theeinstruction to you, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which ledwere thegiven way to theeyou before, that by them thouyou mayestmay warwage the good warfare;, |
| 1:19 |
holding faith and a good conscience;, which some having thrust fromaway them made a shipwreck concerning the faith:, |
| 1:20 |
of whom isare Hymenaeus and Alexander;, whom I delivered untoto Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme. |
| 2:1 |
I exhort therefore, first of all, that supplicationspetitions, prayers, intercessions, thanksgivings, and givings of thanks be made for all men;, |
| 2:2 |
for kings and all thatwho are in high place;places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravityreverence. |
| 2:3 |
ThisFor this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;Savior, |
| 2:4 |
who woulddesires have all menpeople to be saved, and come to thefull knowledge of the truth. |
| 2:5 |
For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, himselfthe man, Christ Jesus, |
| 2:6 |
who gave himself as a ransom for all;, the testimony toat bethe borneproper in its own times;time, |
| 2:7 |
whereuntoto which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle —I speakam telling the truth, Iin lieChrist, not, lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. |
| 2:8 |
I desire therefore that the men pray in every place pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrathanger and disputingdoubting. |
| 2:9 |
In likethe mannersame way, that women also adorn themselves in modestdecent apparelclothing, with shamefastnessmodesty and sobriety;propriety, not with braided hair, and gold, or pearls, or costlyexpensive raiment;clothing, |
| 2:10 |
but with good works, which becomethis appropriate for women professing godliness through good works. |
| 2:11 |
Let a woman learn in quietness with allfull subjectionsubmission. |
| 2:12 |
But I dont permit not a woman to teach, nor to haveexercise dominionauthority over a man, but to be in quietness. |
| 2:13 |
For Adam was formed first formed, then Eve;. |
| 2:14 |
and Adam waswasnt not beguileddeceived, but the woman, being beguileddeceived, hathhas fallen into transgression:disobedience; |
| 2:15 |
but she shallwill be saved through her child bearingchildbearing, if they continue in faith, and love, and sanctificationholiness with sobriety. |
| 3:1 |
FaithfulThis is thea faithful saying,: Ifsomeone awho manseeks seekethto thebe officean ofoverseer adesires bishop, he desireth a good work. |
| 3:2 |
The bishopoverseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober mindedsensible, orderlymodest, given to hospitalityhospitable, aptgood toat teachteaching; |
| 3:3 |
nonot brawlera drinker, nonot striker;violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not contentiousquarrelsome, nonot lover of moneycovetous; |
| 3:4 |
one thatwho rulethrules well his own house well, having his children in subjection with all gravityreverence; |
| 3:5 |
butfor ifhow acould mansomeone knowethwho notdoesnt know how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of theGods church of Godassembly? |
| 3:6 |
not a novicenew convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation ofas the devil. |
| 3:7 |
Moreover he must have good testimony from themthose thatwho are without;outside, lestto heavoid fallfalling into reproach and the snare of the devil. |
| 3:8 |
DeaconsServants, in likethe mannersame way, must be gravereverent, not double tongued, not givenaddicted to much wine, not greedy offor filthy lucre;money, |
| 3:10 |
AndLet letthem these also first be provedtested; then let them serve as deacons, if they beare blameless. |
| 3:11 |
WomenTheir wives in likethe mannersame way must be gravereverent, not slanderers, temperate, and faithful in all things. |
| 3:12 |
Let deaconsservants be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. |
| 3:13 |
For theythose thatwho have served well as deacons gain tofor themselves a good standing, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. |
| 3:14 |
These things I write Ito unto theeyou, hoping to come untoto theeyou shortly;, |
| 3:15 |
but if I tarrywait long, that thouyou mayestmay know how men ought to behave themselves in theGods house of God, which is the churchassembly of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. |
| 3:16 |
AndWithout without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness; Heis whogreat: God was manifestedrevealed in the flesh, Justifiedjustified in the spirit, Seenseen ofby angels, Preachedpreached among the nations, Believedbelieved on in the world, Receivedand received up in glory. |
| 4:1 |
But the Spirit saithsays expressly, that in later times some shallwill fall away from the faith, givingpaying heedattention to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons, |
| 4:2 |
through the hypocrisy of men thatwho speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;, |
| 4:3 |
forbidding tomarriage marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by themthose thatwho believe and know the truth. |
| 4:4 |
For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it beis received with thanksgiving:. |
| 4:5 |
forFor it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer. |
| 4:6 |
If thouyou putinstruct the brethrenbrothers in mind of these things, thouyou shaltwill be a good ministerservant of Christ Jesus, nourished in the words of the faith, and of the good doctrine which thouyou hasthave followed until now:. |
| 4:7 |
butBut refuse profane and old wives fables. AndExercise exerciseyourself thyselftoward unto godliness:. |
| 4:8 |
forFor bodily exercise ishas profitablesome forvalue, a little; but godliness ishas profitablevalue forin all things, having the promise of the life which is now is, and of that which is to come. |
| 4:9 |
FaithfulThis saying is thefaithful saying, and worthy of all acceptationacceptance. |
| 4:10 |
For to this end we both labor and strivesuffer reproach, because we have set our hopetrust setin on the living God, who is the SaviourSavior of all men, speciallyespecially of themthose thatwho believe. |
| 4:11 |
TheseCommand thingsand commandteach andthese teachthings. |
| 4:12 |
Let no man despise thyyour youth; but be thou an ensampleexample to themthose thatwho believe, in word, in manneryour way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. |
| 4:13 |
TillUntil I come, givepay heedattention to reading, to exhortation, and to teaching. |
| 4:14 |
NeglectDont notneglect the gift that is in theeyou, which was given theeto you by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbyteryelders. |
| 4:15 |
Be diligent in these things;. giveGive thyselfyourself wholly to them;, that thyyour progress may be manifestrevealed untoto all. |
| 4:16 |
TakePay heedattention to thyself, yourself and to thyyour teaching. Continue in these things;, for in doing this thouyou shaltwill save both thyselfyourself and themthose thatwho hear theeyou. |
| 5:1 |
RebukeDont notrebuke an elderolder man, but exhort him as a father; the younger men as brethren:brothers; |
| 5:3 |
Honor widows thatwho are widows indeed. |
| 5:4 |
But if any widow hathhas children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show piety towardstoward their own family, and to requiterepay their parents:, for this is acceptable in the sight of God. |
| 5:5 |
Now she thatwho is a widow indeed, and desolate, hathhas her hope set on God, and continuethcontinues in supplicationspetitions and prayers night and day. |
| 5:6 |
But she thatwho givethgives herself to pleasure is dead while she livethlives. |
| 5:7 |
TheseAlso thingscommand alsothese commandthings, that they may be without reproach. |
| 5:8 |
But if anyanyone providethdoesnt notprovide for his own, and speciallyespecially his own household, he hathhas denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. |
| 5:9 |
Let noneno one be enrolled as a widow under threescoresixty years old, having been the wife of one man, |
| 5:10 |
wellbeing reportedapproved ofby for good works;, if she hathhas brought up children, if she hathhas usedbeen hospitalityhospitable to strangers, if she hathhas washed the saints feet, if she hathhas relieved the afflicted, and if she hathhas diligently followed every good work. |
| 5:11 |
But refuse younger widows, refuse: for when they have waxedgrown wanton against Christ, they desire to marry;, |
| 5:13 |
AndBesides, withal they also learn also to be idle, going about from house to house;. andNot not only idle, but tattlers also gossips and busybodies, speakingsaying things which they ought not. |
| 5:14 |
I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for reviling:insulting. |
| 5:15 |
forFor already some arehave turned asideaway after Satan. |
| 5:16 |
If any man or woman thatwho believethbelieves hathhas widows, let herthem relieve them, and dont let not the churchassembly be burdened;, that it maymight relieve themthose thatwho are widows indeed. |
| 5:17 |
Let the elders thatwho rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and in teaching. |
| 5:18 |
For the scriptureScripture saithsays, ThouYou shaltshall not muzzle the ox when heit treadethtreads out the corngrain. And, The laborer is worthy of his hirewages. |
| 5:19 |
AgainstDont receive an elderaccusation receiveagainst not an accusation, elder except at the mouthword of two or three witnesses. |
| 5:20 |
ThemThose thatwho sin, reprove in the sight of all, that the rest also may be in fear. |
| 5:21 |
I chargecommand theeyou in the sight of God, and Christthe Lord Jesus Christ, and the electchosen angels, that thouyou observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality. |
| 5:22 |
Lay hands hastily on no man, one. neitherDont be partakera ofparticipant in other menspeoples sins:. keepKeep thyselfyourself pure. |
| 5:23 |
Be no longer a drinker of water only, but use a little wine for thyyour stomachs sake and thineyour oftenfrequent infirmities. |
| 5:24 |
Some mens sins are evident, goingpreceding beforethem untoto judgment;, and some men also they follow afterlater. |
| 5:25 |
In likethe mannersame way also there are good works that are evident;obvious, and suchthose asthat are otherwise cannotcant be hidhidden. |
| 6:1 |
Let as many as are servantsbondservants under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and the doctrine not be not blasphemed. |
| 6:2 |
AndThose theywho that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren;brothers, but rather let them serve them the rather, because theythose thatwho partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. TheseTeach thingsand teachexhort andthese exhortthings. |
| 6:3 |
If anyanyone manteaches teacheth a different doctrine, and consentethdoesnt notconsent to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;, |
| 6:4 |
he is puffed upconceited, knowing nothing, but dotingobsessed aboutwith questioningsarguments, disputes, and disputesword of wordsbattles, whereoffrom comethwhich come envy, strife, railingsinsulting, evil surmisingssuspicions, |
| 6:5 |
wranglingsconstant friction of menpeople corruptedof incorrupt mindminds and bereftdestitute of the truth, supposingwho suppose that godliness is a waymeans of gain. Withdraw yourself from such. |
| 6:6 |
But godliness with contentment is great gain:. |
| 6:7 |
forFor we brought nothing into the world, forand neitherwe cancertainly wecant carry anything out;. |
| 6:8 |
butBut having food and coveringclothing, we shallwill be therewithcontent contentwith that. |
| 6:9 |
But theythose thatwho are mindeddetermined to be rich fall into a temptation, and a snare, and many foolish and hurtfulharmful lusts, such as drown men in destructionruin and perditiondestruction. |
| 6:10 |
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil:. whichSome some reaching after have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows. |
| 6:11 |
But thouyou, O man of God, flee these things;, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patienceperseverance, meeknessand gentleness. |
| 6:12 |
Fight the good fight of the faith,. layTake hold onof the eternal life eternal,to whereuntowhich thouyou wastwere called, and didstyou confessconfessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses. |
| 6:13 |
I chargecommand theeyou inbefore the sight of God, who givethgives life to all things, and ofbefore Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessedtestified the good confession;, |
| 6:14 |
that thouyou keep the commandment, without spot, withoutblameless reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:, |
| 6:15 |
which inat itsthe ownright timestime he shallwill show, who is the blessed and only PotentateRuler, the King of kings, and Lord of Lords;. |
| 6:16 |
whoHe onlyalone hathhas immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, unapproachable; whom no man hathhas seen, nor can see:, to whom be honor and eternal power eternal. Amen. |
| 6:17 |
Charge themthose thatwho are rich in this present world, age that they not be not highmindedarrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who givethrichly provides us richlywith alleverything things to enjoy; |
| 6:18 |
that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to communicateshare; |
| 6:19 |
laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold onof theeternal life which is life indeed. |
| 6:20 |
O Timothy, guard that which is committed untoto theeyou, turning away from the profaneempty babblingschatter and oppositions of thewhat knowledge which is falsely socalled called;knowledge, |
| 6:21 |
which some professingprofess, and thus have erredwandered concerningfrom the faith. Grace be with you. Amen. |
