1:1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, untoto the churchassembly of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:2 We always give thanks to God always for you all, makingof mentionyou, ofmentioning you in our prayers;,
1:3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith and labor of love and patienceperseverance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, before our God and Father;.
1:4 knowingWe know, brethrenbrothers belovedloved ofby God, yourthat electionyou are chosen,
1:5 howand that our gospelGood News came notto unto you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and inwith much assurance;. evenYou as ye know what mannerkind of men we showed ourselves towardto be among you for your sake.
1:6 AndYou ye became imitators of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit;,
1:7 so that yeyou became an ensampleexample to all thatwho believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.
1:8 For from you hath sounded forth the word of the Lord has been declared, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith totoward God wardhas is gone forth;out, so that we need not to speaksay anything.
1:9 For they themselves report concerning us what mannerkind of enteringa inreception we had untofrom you;, and how yeyou turned untoto God from idols, to serve a living and true God,
1:10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead,: even Jesus, who deliverethdelivers us from the wrath to come.
2:1 For you yourselves know, brethrenbrothers, know our enteringvisit into unto you, thatwasnt itin hath not been found vain:,
2:2 but having suffered before and been shamefully treated, as yeyou know, at Philippi, we waxedgrew bold in our God to speaktell unto you the gospelGood News of God in much conflict.
2:3 For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:deception.
2:4 butBut even as we have been approved ofby God to be intrustedentrusted with the gospelGood News, so we speak; —not as pleasing men, but God, who provethtests our hearts.
2:5 For neither were we at any time were we found using words of flattery, as yeyou know, nor a cloak of covetousness, God is witness;,
2:6 nor seeking glory offrom men, neither from you nor from others, when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ.
2:7 But we were gentle inamong the midst of you, aslike when a nursenursing cherishethmother cherishes her own children:.
2:8 evenEven so, being affectionately desirouslonging offor you, we were well pleased to impart untoto you, not the gospelGood News of God only, but also our own souls, because yeyou werehad become very dear to us.
2:9 For yeyou remember, brethrenbrothers, our labor and travail:; for working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached untoto you the gospelGood News of God.
2:10 YeYou are witnesses, andwith God also, how holilyholy, and righteously, and unblamablyblamelessly we behaved ourselves toward you thatwho believe:.
2:11 asAs yeyou know, how we dealtexhorted, withcomforted, eachand implored every one of you, as a father withdoes his own children, exhorting you, and encouraging you, and testifying,
2:12 to the end that yeyou should walk worthily of God, who callethcalls you into his own kingdomKingdom and glory.
2:13 AndFor for this cause we also thank God without ceasing, that, when yeyou received from us the word of the message, even the word of God, yeyou accepted it not as the word of men, but, as it is in truth, theGods word of God, which also workethworks in you thatwho believe.
2:14 For yeyou, brethrenbrothers, became imitators of the churchesassemblies of God which are in JudaeaJudea in Christ Jesus:; for yeyou also suffered the same things offrom your own countrymen, even as they did offrom the Jews;
2:15 who killed both killed the Lord Jesus and thetheir own prophets, and drove us out us, and dont please not God, and are contrary to all men;,
2:16 forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved;, to fill up their sins always:. butBut the wrath ishas come uponon them to the uttermost.
2:17 But we, brethrenbrothers, being bereaved of you for a short season, in presence, not in heart, endeavoredtried theeven moreharder exceedingly to see your face with great desire:,
2:18 because we wouldwanted fainto have come untoto you—indeed, I, Paul, once and again;—but and Satan hindered us.
2:19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of gloryingrejoicing? AreIsnt notit even yeyou, before our Lord Jesus at his coming?
2:20 For yeyou are our glory and our joy.
3:1 WhereforeTherefore when we couldcouldnt nostand it any longer forbear, we thought it good to be left behind at Athens alone;,
3:2 and sent Timothy, our brother and Gods ministerservant in the gospelGood News of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith;,
3:3 that no manone would be moved by these afflictions;. forFor yourselvesyou know that hereunto we are appointed to this task.
3:4 For verilymost certainly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction;, even as it came to passhappened, and yeyou know.
3:5 For this cause I also, when I couldcouldnt nostand it any longer forbear, sent that I might know your faith, lestfor fear that by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor shouldwould behave been in vain.
3:6 But when Timothy camehas evenjust now untocome to us from you, and brought us glad tidingsnews of your faith and love, and that yeyou have good remembrancememories of us always, longing to see us, even as we also long to see you;.
3:7 forFor this cause, brethrenbrothers, we were comforted over you in all our distress and affliction through your faith:.
3:8 forFor now we live, if yeyou stand fast in the Lord.
3:9 For what thanksgiving can we render again untoto God for you, for all the joy wherewithwith which we joyrejoice for your sakes before our God;,
3:10 night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
3:11 Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way untoto you:.
3:12 andMay the Lord make you to increase and abound in love toward one toward another, and toward all men, even as we also do toward you;,
3:13 to the end he may establish your hearts unblamableblameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.
4:1 Finally then, brethrenbrothers, we beseechbeg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that, as yeyou received offrom us how yeyou ought to walk and to please God, even as ye do walk,—that yeyou abound more and more.
4:2 For yeyou know what chargeinstructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
4:3 For this is the will of God,: even your sanctification, that yeyou abstain from fornication;sexual immorality,
4:4 that each one of you know how to possesscontrol himself of his own vesselbody in sanctification and honor,
4:5 not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who dont know not God;,
4:6 that no manone transgress, should take advantage of and wrong hisa brother or sister in thethis matter:; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.
4:8 Therefore he thatwho rejecteth, rejects rejecteththis notdoesnt reject man, but God, who givethhas also given his Holy Spirit untoto you.
4:9 But concerning brotherly love, ofyou the brethren ye have no need that one write untoto you:. forFor yeyou yourselves are taught ofby God to love one another;,
4:10 for indeed yeyou do it toward all the brethrenbrothers thatwho are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brethrenbrothers, that yeyou abound more and more;
4:11 and that yeyou studymake it your ambition to belead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we chargedinstructed you;,
4:12 that yeyou may walk becominglyproperly toward themthose thatwho are withoutoutside, and may have need of nothing.
4:13 But we woulddont notwant have you to be ignorant, brethrenbrothers, concerning themthose thatwho fallhave fallen asleep;, so that yeyou sorrowdont not, grieve evenlike as the rest, who have no hope.
4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so themGod alsowill thatbring arewith him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
4:15 For this we saytell unto you by the word of the Lord, that we thatwho are alive, thatwho are left untountil the coming of the Lord, shallwill in no wiseway precede themthose thatwho arehave fallen asleep.
4:16 For the Lord himself shallwill descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with theGods trumptrumpet. ofThe God: and the dead in Christ shallwill rise first;,
4:17 then we thatwho are alive, thatwho are left, shallwill be caught up together with them be caught up in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:. andSo so shall we everwill be with the Lord forever.
4:18 WhereforeTherefore comfort one another with these words.
5:1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethrenbrothers, yeyou have no need that aughtanything be written untoto you.
5:2 For you yourselves know perfectlywell that the day of the Lord socomes comethlike as a thief in the night.
5:3 WhenFor when they are saying, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comethwill uponcome on them, aslike travailbirth uponpains on a pregnant woman. withThen child; and they shallwill in no wiseway escape.
5:4 But yeyou, brethrenbrothers, arearent not in darkness, that thatthe day should overtake you aslike a thief:.
5:5 forYou ye are all sonschildren of light, and sonschildren of the day:. weWe aredont notbelong ofto the night, nor ofto darkness;,
5:6 so then letlets us not sleep, as do the rest do, but letlets us watch and be sober.
5:7 For theythose thatwho sleep, sleep in the night; and theythose thatwho are drunkendrunk are drunkendrunk in the night.
5:8 But let us, since we arebelong ofto the day, lets be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love;, and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
