| 1:1 |
Paul and Timothy servants of Christ Jesus toTo all the saints in Christ Jesus thatwho are at Philippi with the bishops and deacons: |
| 1:3 |
I thank my God uponin all my remembrance of you |
| 1:4 |
always in every supplicationprayer of mine onfor behalf of you all making my supplicationprayer with joy |
| 1:5 |
thankful for your fellowshippartnership in furtherance of the gospel from the first day until now; |
| 1:6 |
beingAnd confidentI ofam thissure very thing that he who began a good work in you will perfectbring it untilto completion at the day of Jesus Christ: |
| 1:7 |
evenIt as it is right for me to befeel thus mindedabout on behalf of you all because I havehold you in my heart inasmuchfor asyou are all partakers with me of grace both in my bondsimprisonment and in the defencedefense and confirmation of the gospel ye all are partakers with me of grace |
| 1:8 |
For God is my witness how I longyearn afterfor you all inwith the tenderaffection mercies of Christ Jesus |
| 1:9 |
And thisit Iis praymy prayer that your love may abound yet more and more inwith knowledge and all discernment; |
| 1:10 |
so that yeyou may approve thewhat thingsis that are excellent; thatand ye may be sincerepure and voidblameless offor offence unto the day of Christ; |
| 1:11 |
being filled with the fruits of righteousness which arecome through Jesus Christ untoto the glory and praise of God |
| 1:12 |
Now I wouldwant have you to know brethren that thewhat thingshas which happened untoto me havehas fallenreally outserved ratherto untoadvance the progress of the gospel; |
| 1:13 |
so that myit bondshas becamebecome manifestknown in Christ throughout the whole praetorian guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ; |
| 1:14 |
and that most of the brethren have been made confident in the Lord beingbecause confidentof through my bondsimprisonment and are much more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear |
| 1:15 |
Some indeed preach Christ evenfrom of envy and strife;rivalry andbut someothers alsofrom of good will: |
| 1:16 |
theThe onelatter do it out of love knowing that I am setput here for the defencedefense of the gospel; |
| 1:17 |
but the otherformer proclaim Christ out of factionpartisanship not sincerely but thinking to raiseafflict up affliction for me in my bondsimprisonment |
| 1:18 |
What then onlyOnly that in every way whether in pretencepretense or in truth Christ is proclaimed; and thereinin that I rejoice yea and will rejoice |
| 1:19 |
ForYes and I know that this shall turnrejoice outFor toI myknow salvationthat through your supplicationprayers and the supplyhelp of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance |
| 1:20 |
accordingas toit is my earnesteager expectation and hope that inI nothing shall Inot be putat toall shameashamed but that with allfull boldnesscourage now as always so now also Christ shallwill be magnifiedhonored in my body whether by life or by death |
| 1:22 |
ButIf ifit is to livebe life in the flesh—if thisthat shallmeans bringfruitful fruitlabor fromfor myme workYet thenwhich what I shall choose I knowcannot nottell |
| 1:23 |
But I am inhard apressed straitbetween betwixt the two havingMy the desire is to depart and be with Christ; for itthat is very far better: |
| 1:24 |
yetBut to abideremain in the flesh is more needfulnecessary foron your sakeaccount |
| 1:25 |
AndConvinced havingof this confidence I know that I shall abideremain yea and abidecontinue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith; |
| 1:26 |
so that yourin gloryingme you may aboundhave ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus inbecause meof through my presencecoming withto you again |
| 1:27 |
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ: so that whether I come and see you or beam absent I may hear of youryou state that yeyou stand fastfirm in one spirit with one soulmind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel; |
| 1:28 |
and not frightened in nothinganything affrighted by theyour adversaries:opponents whichThis is fora themclear anomen evidentto tokenthem of perditiontheir destruction but of your salvation and that from God; |
| 1:29 |
becauseFor to you it hathhas been granted into you that for the behalfsake of Christ you should not only to believe onin him but also to suffer infor his behalf:sake |
| 1:30 |
havingengaged in the same conflict which yeyou saw in me and now hear to be in memine |
| 2:1 |
IfSo if there is therefore any exhortationencouragement in Christ if any consolationincentive of love if any fellowshipparticipation ofin the Spirit if any tenderaffection mercies and compassionssympathy |
| 2:2 |
makecomplete full my joy thatby yebeing be of the same mind having the same love being ofin onefull accord and of one mind; |
| 2:3 |
doingDo nothing throughfrom factionselfishness or throughconceit vainglory but in lowlinesshumility ofcount mindothers each counting other better than himself;yourselves |
| 2:4 |
notLet looking each of you look not only to his own thingsinterests but each of you also to the thingsinterests of others |
| 2:5 |
Have this mind inamong youyourselves which wasis alsoyours in Christ Jesus: |
| 2:6 |
who existingthough he was in the form of God counteddid not thecount being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped |
| 2:7 |
but emptied himself taking the form of a servant being madeborn in the likeness of men; |
| 2:8 |
andAnd being found in fashionhuman asform a man he humbled himself becomingand became obedient even unto death yeaeven the death ofon thea cross |
| 2:9 |
WhereforeTherefore also God has highly exalted him and gavebestowed untoon him the name which is above every name; |
| 2:10 |
that inat the name of Jesus every knee should bow of things in heaven and things on earth and things under the earth |
| 2:11 |
and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father |
| 2:12 |
SoTherefore then my beloved even as yeyou have always obeyed so now not only as in my presence only but now much more in my absence work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; |
| 2:13 |
for itGod is Godat whowork worketh in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure |
| 2:14 |
Do all things without murmuringsgrumbling andor questionings:questioning |
| 2:15 |
that yeyou may becomebe blameless and harmlessinnocent children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation among whom yeyou areshine seen as lights in the world |
| 2:16 |
holding forthfast the word of life; so that I may have whereof to glory in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain neitheror labor in vain |
| 2:17 |
YeaEven and if I am offeredto be poured as a libation upon the sacrificesacrificial andoffering service of your faith I joyam glad and rejoice with you all: |
| 2:18 |
andLikewise inyou thealso sameshould mannerbe doglad ye also joy and rejoice with me |
| 2:19 |
But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy shortlyto unto you soon so that I also may be ofcheered goodby comfortnews whenof Iyou know your state |
| 2:20 |
For I have no manone likemindedlike him who will carebe trulygenuinely anxious for your statewelfare |
| 2:21 |
ForThey they all seeklook after their own interests not thethose things of Jesus Christ |
| 2:22 |
But yeTimothys knowworth theyou proofknow ofhow him that as a childson servethwith a father so he has served with me in furtherance of the gospel |
| 2:23 |
Him therefore I hope therefore to send forthwithhim sojust as soon as I shall see how it will go with me:; |
| 2:24 |
butand I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself also shall come shortly also |
| 2:25 |
But I countedhave thought it necessary to send to you EpaphroditusEpaphrodi′tus my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier and your messenger and minister to my need; |
| 2:26 |
sincefor he longedhas afterbeen longing for you all and washas sorebeen troubleddistressed because yeyou had heard that he was sick:ill |
| 2:27 |
forIndeed indeed he was sickill nighnear untoto death: butBut God had mercy on him; and not only on him only but on me also thatlest I mightshould not have sorrow upon sorrow |
| 2:28 |
I haveam sentthe more eager to send him therefore thethat moreyou diligentlymay thatrejoice whenat yeseeing see him again ye may rejoice and that I may be the less sorrowfulanxious |
| 2:29 |
ReceiveSo receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy; and holdhonor such inmen honor: |
| 2:30 |
becausefor he nearly died for the work of Christ herisking came nigh unto death hazarding his life to supplycomplete that which was lacking in your service towardto me |
| 3:1 |
Finally my brethren rejoice in the Lord To write the same things to you to me indeed is not irksome butto forme youand it is safe for you |
| 3:2 |
BewareLook ofout for the dogs bewarelook ofout for the evil workers bewarelook ofout for those who mutilate the concision:flesh |
| 3:3 |
forFor we are the true circumcision who worship byGod thein Spiritspirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and haveput no confidence in the flesh: |
| 3:4 |
thoughThough I myself might have reason for confidence even in the flesh: ifalso If any other man thinkeththinks tohe havehas reason for confidence in the flesh I yethave more: |
| 3:5 |
circumcised on the eighth day of the stockpeople of Israel of the tribe of Benjamin a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as touchingto the law a Pharisee; |
| 3:6 |
as touchingto zeal persecutinga persecutor of the church; as touchingto the righteousness whichunder is in the law found blameless |
| 3:7 |
HowbeitBut whatwhatever things were gain toI mehad these have I counted as loss for the sake of Christ |
| 3:8 |
YeaIndeed verily and I count alleverything thingsas to be loss forbecause the excellency of the knowledgesurpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord: forFor whomhis sake I have suffered the loss of all things and do count them butas refuse in order that I may gain Christ |
| 3:9 |
and be found in him not having a righteousness of minemy own evenbased thaton which is of the law but that which is through faith in Christ the righteousness which is from God bythat depends on faith:; |
| 3:10 |
that I may know him and the power of his resurrection and themay fellowshipshare of his sufferings becoming conformedlike untohim in his death; |
| 3:11 |
that if bypossible any means I may attain unto the resurrection from the dead |
| 3:12 |
Not that I have already obtained this or am already made perfect:; but I press on ifto somake beit thatmy Iown maybecause layChrist holdJesus onhas thatmade forme whichhis alsoown I was laid hold on by Christ Jesus |
| 3:13 |
Brethren I countdo not myselfconsider yetthat toI have laidmade hold:it my own; but one thing I do forgetting thewhat thingslies which are behind and stretchingstraining forward to thewhat thingslies whichahead are before |
| 3:14 |
I press on toward the goal untofor the prize of the highupward callingcall of God in Christ Jesus |
| 3:15 |
Let usthose thereforeof asus manywho as are perfectmature be thus minded:; and if in anything yeyou are otherwise minded thisGod alsowill shallreveal Godthat revealalso untoto you: |
| 3:16 |
onlyOnly whereuntolet weus havehold attainedtrue byto thatwhat samewe rulehave let us walkattained |
| 3:17 |
Brethren bejoin yein imitatorsimitating together of me and mark themthose thatwho so walklive even as yeyou have usan forexample anin ensampleus |
| 3:18 |
For many walk of whom I have often told you often and now tell you even weepingwith thattears theylive areas the enemies of the cross of Christ: |
| 3:19 |
whoseTheir end is perditiondestruction whosetheir god is the belly and whosethey glory is in their shame whowith mindminds set on earthly things |
| 3:20 |
ForBut our citizenshipcommonwealth is in heaven; whenceand alsofrom it we waitawait for a SaviourSavior the Lord Jesus Christ: |
| 3:21 |
who shallwill fashionchange anewour thelowly body ofto our humiliation that it may be conformedlike tohis theglorious body ofby his glory according to the workingpower wherebywhich heenables ishim able even to subject all things untoto himself |
| 4:1 |
WhereforeTherefore my brethren belovedwhom I love and longedlong for my joy and crown so stand fastfirm thus in the Lord my beloved |
| 4:2 |
I exhortentreat EuodiaEu o′dia and I exhortentreat SyntycheSyn′tyche to beagree of the same mind in the Lord |
| 4:3 |
YeaAnd I beseechask theeyou also true yokefellow help these women for they have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers whose names are in the book of life |
| 4:4 |
Rejoice in the Lord always:; again I will say Rejoice |
| 4:5 |
Let yourall forbearancemen beknow knownyour untoforbearance all men The Lord is at hand |
| 4:6 |
InHave nothingno beanxiety anxious;about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known untoto God |
| 4:7 |
And the peace of God which passethpasses all understanding shallwill guardkeep your hearts and your thoughtsminds in Christ Jesus |
| 4:8 |
Finally brethren whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are true whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are honorable whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are just whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are pure whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are lovely whatsoeverwhatever thingsis aregracious of good report; if there beis any virtueexcellence and if there beis anyanything worthy of praise think onabout these things |
| 4:9 |
TheWhat thingsyou whichhave ye both learned and received and heard and sawseen in me these things do:; and the God of peace shallwill be with you |
| 4:10 |
But I rejoice in the Lord greatly that now at length yeyou have revived your thoughtconcern for me; whereinyou yewere did indeed takeconcerned thoughtfor me but yeyou lackedhad no opportunity |
| 4:11 |
Not that I speakcomplain in respect of want:; for I have learned in whatsoeverwhatever state I am therein to be content |
| 4:12 |
I know how to be abased and I know also how to abound:; in everythingany and in all thingscircumstances I have I learned the secret bothof tofacing beplenty filled and tohunger beabundance hungry both to abound and to be in want |
| 4:13 |
I can do all things in him thatwho strengthenethstrengthens me |
| 4:14 |
HowbeitYet yeit didwas wellkind thatof yeyou hadto fellowshipshare with my afflictiontrouble |
| 4:15 |
And yeyou Philippians yourselves also know ye Philippians that in the beginning of the gospel when I departedleft fromMacedo′nia Macedonia no church hadentered fellowshipinto partnership with me in the matter of giving and receiving butexcept yeyou only; |
| 4:16 |
for even in ThessalonicaThessaloni′ca yeyou sent me help once and again unto my need |
| 4:17 |
Not that I seek for the gift; but I seek for the fruit thatwhich increasethincreases to your accountcredit |
| 4:18 |
But I have allreceived thingsfull payment and abound:more; I am filled having received from EpaphroditusEpaphrodi′tus the thingsgifts that came from you ansent odor of a sweetfragrant smelloffering a sacrifice acceptable welland pleasing to God |
| 4:19 |
And my God shallwill supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus |
