| 1:17 |
So all the generations from Abraham untoto David arewere fourteen generations; and from David untoto the carryingdeportation away to Babylon fourteen generations; and from the carryingdeportation away to Babylon untoto the Christ fourteen generations |
| 1:18 |
Now the birth of Jesus Christ wastook onplace in this wise:way When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; |
| 1:19 |
Andand Joseph her husband Joseph being a righteousjust man and notunwilling willing to makeput her ato publicshame exampleresolved was minded to putdivorce her awayquietly privily |
| 1:20 |
But whenas he thoughtconsidered onthis these things behold an angel of the Lord appeared untoto him in a dream saying Joseph thou son of David feardo not fear to take unto thee Mary thyyour wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; |
| 1:21 |
And she shallwill bringbear forth a son; and thouyou shaltshall call his name Jesus; for it is he thatwill shall save his people from their sins |
| 1:22 |
NowAll all this istook comeplace to passfulfil thatwhat itthe mightLord behad fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet saying: |
| 1:23 |
Behold thea virgin shall beconceive with child and shallbear bring forth a son Andand theyhis name shall callbe hiscalled nameEmman′u Immanuel;el which ismeans being interpreted God with us |
| 1:24 |
AndWhen Joseph arosewoke from his sleep andhe did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; andhe took unto him his wife; |
| 1:25 |
andbut knew her not tilluntil she had broughtborne forth a son:; and he called his name Jesus |
| 2:1 |
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of JudaeaJudea in the days of Herod the king behold Wisewise men from the eastEast came to Jerusalem saying |
| 2:2 |
Where is he thatwho ishas been born Kingking of the Jews forFor we sawhave seen his star in the eastEast and arehave come to worship him |
| 2:3 |
AndWhen when Herod the king heard itthis he was troubled and all Jerusalem with him; |
| 2:4 |
Andand gatheringassembling together all the chief priests and scribes of the people he inquired of them where the Christ shouldwas to be born |
| 2:5 |
AndThey theytold said unto him In Bethlehem of Judaea:Judea; for thusso it is written throughby the prophet: |
| 2:6 |
And thouyou O Bethlehem in the land of Judah Artare inby no wisemeans least among the princesrulers of Judah:; Forfor outfrom ofyou thee shall come forth a governorruler Whowho shallwill begovern shepherd of my people Israel |
| 2:7 |
Then Herod privilysummoned called the Wisewise men secretly and learnedascertained offrom them exactly what time the star appeared; |
| 2:8 |
Andand he sent them to Bethlehem andsaying said Go and search outdiligently exactlyfor concerning the young child; and when yeyou have found him bring me word that I alsotoo may come and worship him |
| 2:9 |
AndWhen they havinghad heard the king they went their way; and lo the star which they sawhad seen in the eastEast went before them till it came andto stoodrest over the place where the young child was |
| 2:10 |
AndWhen when they saw the star they rejoiced exceedingly with exceeding great joy; |
| 2:11 |
Andand theygoing came into the house andthey saw the young child with Mary his mother; and they fell down and worshippedworshiped him; andThen opening their treasures they offered unto him gifts gold and frankincense and myrrh |
| 2:12 |
And being warned of God in a dream thatnot theyto should not return to Herod they departed intoto their own country by another way |
| 2:13 |
Now when they werehad departed behold an angel of the Lord appearethappeared to Joseph in a dream sayingand Arisesaid andRise take the young child and his mother and flee intoto Egypt and beremain thou there untiltill I tell thee:you; for Herod willis seekabout to search for the young child to destroy him |
| 2:14 |
And he aroserose and took the young child and his mother by night and departed intoto Egypt; |
| 2:15 |
and wasremained there until the death of Herod: thatThis itwas mightto befulfil fulfilledwhat whichthe wasLord had spoken by the Lord through the prophet saying Out of Egypt didhave I callcalled my son |
| 2:16 |
Then Herod when he saw that he washad mockedbeen oftricked by the Wisewise men was exceedingin wrotha furious rage and he sent forth and slewkilled all the male children that were in Bethlehem and in all thethat bordersregion thereofwho fromwere two years old andor under according to the time which he had exactlyascertained learnedfrom of the Wisewise men |
| 2:17 |
Then was fulfilled thatwhat which was spoken throughby Jeremiah the prophet sayingJeremiah: |
| 2:18 |
A voice was heard in Ramah Weepingwailing and greatloud mourninglamentation Rachel weeping for her children; And she wouldrefused notto be comfortedconsoled because they arewere notno more |
| 2:19 |
But when Herod wasdied dead behold an angel of the Lord appearethappeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt saying |
| 2:20 |
AriseRise and take the young child and his mother and go intoto the land of Israel: for theythose arewho dead that sought the young childs life are dead |
| 2:21 |
And he aroserose and took the young child and his mother and camewent intoto the land of Israel |
| 2:22 |
But when he heard that ArchelausArchela′us wasreigned reigning over JudaeaJudea in theplace room of his father Herod he was afraid to go thither;there and being warned of God in a dream he withdrew intoto the partsdistrict of Galilee |
| 2:23 |
andAnd camehe went and dwelt in a city called Nazareth; that itwhat might be fulfilled which was spoken throughby the prophets thatmight hebe shouldfulfilled He shall be called a Nazarene |
| 3:1 |
AndIn in those days comethcame John the Baptist preaching in the wilderness of JudaeaJudea saying |
| 3:2 |
Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand |
| 3:3 |
For this is he thatwho was spoken of throughby Isaiah the prophet sayingIsaiah when he said The voice of one crying in the wilderness: MakePrepare ye ready the way of the Lord Makemake his paths straight |
| 3:4 |
Now John himselfwore hada hisgarment raiment of camels hair and a leathernleather girdle aboutaround his loinswaist; and his food was locusts and wild honey |
| 3:5 |
Then went out untoto him Jerusalem and all JudaeaJudea and all the region round about the Jordan; |
| 3:6 |
and they were baptized ofby him in the river Jordan confessing their sins |
| 3:7 |
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and SadduceesSad′ducees coming tofor his baptism he said untoto them YeYou offspringbrood of vipers whoWho warned you to flee from the wrath to come |
| 3:8 |
BringBear forth therefore fruit worthythat ofbefits repentance: |
| 3:9 |
and thinkdo not presume to say withinto yourselves We have Abraham toas our father:; for I saytell unto you that God is able offrom these stones to raise up children untoto Abraham |
| 3:10 |
AndEven even now the axe liethis atlaid to the root of the trees:; every tree therefore that bringethdoes not forthbear good fruit is hewncut down and castthrown into the fire |
| 3:11 |
I indeed baptize you inwith water untofor repentance: but he thatwho comethis coming after me is mightier than I whose shoessandals I am not worthy to bear:carry; he shallwill baptize you inwith the Holy Spirit and inwith fire: |
| 3:12 |
whoseHis fanwinnowing fork is in his hand and he will thoroughlyclear cleanse his threshing floor; and he will gather his wheat into the garnergranary but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire |
| 3:13 |
Then cometh Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan untoto John to be baptized ofby him |
| 3:14 |
But John would have hinderedprevented him saying I have need to be baptized ofby theeyou and comestdo thouyou come to me |
| 3:15 |
But Jesus answeringanswered said unto him SufferLet it be so now:; for thus it becomethis fitting for us to fulfil all righteousness Then he sufferethconsented him |
| 3:16 |
And Jesus when heJesus was baptized he went up straightwayimmediately from the water: and lobehold the heavens were opened unto him and he saw the Spirit of God descending aslike a dove and comingalighting uponon him; |
| 3:17 |
and lo a voice outfrom ofheaven the heavens saying This is my beloved Son inwith whom I am well pleased |
| 4:1 |
Then Jesus was Jesus led up ofby the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted ofby the devil |
| 4:2 |
And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights heand afterward hungeredhe was hungry |
| 4:3 |
And the tempter came and said untoto him If thouyou artare the Son of God command that these stones to become loaves of bread |
| 4:4 |
But he answered and said It is written Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceedethproceeds outfrom of the mouth of God |
| 4:5 |
Then the devil takethtook him intoto the holy city; and he set him on the pinnacle of the temple |
| 4:6 |
and saithsaid untoto him If thouyou artare the Son of God castthrow thyselfyourself down:; for it is written He shallwill give his angels charge concerningof thee:you and On their hands they shallwill bear theeyou up Lestlest haplyyou thoustrike dashyour thy foot against a stone |
| 4:7 |
Jesus said untoto him Again it is written ThouYou shaltshall not maketempt trial of the Lord thyyour God |
| 4:8 |
Again the devil takethtook him untoto ana exceedingvery high mountain and showethshowed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them; |
| 4:9 |
and he said untoto him All these thingsI will I give theeyou if thouyou wiltwill fall down and worship me |
| 4:10 |
Then saith Jesus untosaid to him GetBegone thee hence Satan: for it is written ThouYou shaltshall worship the Lord thyyour God and him only shaltshall thouyou serve |
| 4:11 |
Then the devil leavethleft him; and behold angels came and ministered untoto him |
| 4:12 |
Now when he heard that John washad deliveredbeen uparrested he withdrew into Galilee; |
| 4:13 |
and leaving Nazareth he camewent and dwelt in CapernaumCaper′na whichum is by the sea in the bordersterritory of ZebulunZeb′ulun and Naphtali:Naph′tali |
| 4:14 |
that itwhat might be fulfilled which was spoken throughby Isaiah the prophet sayingIsaiah might be fulfilled: |
| 4:15 |
The land of ZebulunZeb′ulun and the land of NaphtaliNaph′tali Towardtoward the sea beyondacross the Jordan Galilee of the Gentiles— |
| 4:16 |
Thethe people thatwho sat in darkness Sawhave seen a great light Andand tofor themthose thatwho sat in the region and shadow of death To them did light springhas updawned |
| 4:17 |
From that time Jesus began Jesus to preach andsaying to say Repent ye; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand |
| 4:18 |
AndAs walkinghe walked by the seaSea of Galilee he saw two brethrenbrothers Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishersfishermen |
| 4:19 |
And he saithsaid untoto them ComeFollow ye after me and I will make you fishers of men |
| 4:20 |
AndImmediately they straightway left thetheir nets and followed him |
| 4:21 |
And going on from thencethere he saw two other brethrenbrothers James the son of ZebedeeZeb′edee and John his brother in the boat with ZebedeeZeb′edee their father mending their nets; and he called them |
| 4:22 |
AndImmediately they straightway left the boat and their father and followed him |
| 4:23 |
And Jesushe went about in all Galilee teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing allevery manner of disease and allevery mannerinfirmity of sickness among the people |
| 4:24 |
AndSo thehis reportfame ofspread himthroughout went forth into all Syria: and they brought unto him all thatthe were sick holdenthose afflicted with diversvarious diseases and tormentspains possesseddemoniacs withepileptics demons and epilepticparalytics and palsied; and he healed them |
| 4:25 |
And theregreat crowds followed him great multitudes from Galilee and Decapolisthe Decap′olis and Jerusalem and JudaeaJudea and from beyond the Jordan |
| 5:1 |
AndSeeing seeing the multitudescrowds he went up intoon the mountain: and when he had sat down his disciples came untoto him: |
| 5:2 |
andAnd he opened his mouth and taught them saying: |
| 5:3 |
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven |
| 5:4 |
Blessed are theythose thatwho mourn: for they shall be comforted |
| 5:5 |
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth |
| 5:6 |
Blessed are theythose thatwho hunger and thirst afterfor righteousness: for they shall be filledsatisfied |
| 5:7 |
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy |
| 5:8 |
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God |
| 5:9 |
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God |
| 5:10 |
Blessed are theythose thatwho haveare been persecuted for righteousness sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven |
| 5:11 |
Blessed are yeyou when men shallrevile reproach you and persecute you and sayutter all mannerkinds of evil against you falsely foron my sakeaccount |
| 5:12 |
Rejoice and be exceeding glad: for greatyour reward is yourgreat reward in heaven: for so men persecuted they the prophets thatwho were before you |
| 5:13 |
YeYou are the salt of the earth:; but if the salt havehas lost its savortaste wherewithhow shall itits saltness be saltedrestored itIt is thenceforthno longer good for nothinganything butexcept to be castthrown out and trodden under foot ofby men |
| 5:14 |
YeYou are the light of the world A city set on a hill cannot be hid |
| 5:15 |
NeitherNor do men light a lamp and put it under thea bushel but on thea stand; and it shinethgives untolight to all that are in the house |
| 5:16 |
EvenLet so let your light so shine before men; that they may see your good works and glorifygive glory to your Father who is in heaven |
| 5:17 |
Think not that I camehave come to destroyabolish the law orand the prophets:; I camehave come not to destroyabolish them but to fulfil them |
| 5:18 |
For verilytruly I say untoto you Tilltill heaven and earth pass away onenot jotan oriota onenot tittlea shalldot inwill no wise pass away from the law tilluntil all thingsis be accomplished |
| 5:19 |
WhosoeverWhoever thereforethen shallrelaxes break one of thesethe least of these commandments and shallteaches teach men so shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven:; but whosoeverhe shallwho dodoes them and teachteaches them he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven |
| 5:20 |
For I saytell unto you thatunless except your righteousness shallexceeds exceedthat the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees yeyou shallwill innever no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven |
| 5:21 |
YeYou have heard that it was said to themthe men of old timeYou Thoushall shalt not kill; and whosoeverwhoever shallkills kill shall be inliable dangerto of the judgment: |
| 5:22 |
butBut I say untoto you that every one who is angry with his brother shall be inliable dangerto of the judgment; andwhoever whosoeverinsults shall say to his brother Raca shall be inliable dangerto of the council; and whosoeverwhoever shallsays sayYou Thou fool shall be inliable dangerto of the hell of fire |
| 5:23 |
IfSo thereforeif thouyou artare offering thyyour gift at the altar and there rememberestremember that thyyour brother hathhas aughtsomething against theeyou |
| 5:24 |
leave thereyour thy gift there before the altar and go; thy way first be reconciled to thyyour brother and then come and offer thyyour gift |
| 5:25 |
AgreeMake friends quickly with thineyour adversaryaccuser quickly while thouyou artare going with him into thecourt way; lest haplyyour theaccuser adversaryhand deliveryou theeover to the judge and the judge deliver thee to the officerguard and thouyou be castput intoin prison; |
| 5:26 |
Verilytruly I say untoto theeyou Thouyou shaltwill bynever noget means come out thence till thouyou have paid the last farthingpenny |
| 5:27 |
YeYou have heard that it was said ThouYou shaltshall not commit adultery: |
| 5:28 |
butBut I say untoto you that every one thatwho lookethlooks onat a woman tolustfully lusthas afteralready her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart |
| 5:29 |
AndIf ifyour thy right eye causethcauses theeyou to stumblesin pluck it out and castthrow it fromaway; thee: for it is profitablebetter forthat theeyou thatlose one of thyyour members shouldthan perishthat andyour not thy whole body be castthrown into hell |
| 5:30 |
And if thyyour right hand causethcauses theeyou to stumblesin cut it off and castthrow it fromaway; thee: for it is profitablebetter forthat theeyou thatlose one of thyyour members shouldthan perishthat andyour not thy whole body go into hell |
| 5:31 |
It was said also Whosoeversaid shallWhoever putdivorces away his wife let him give her a writingcertificate of divorcement:divorce |
| 5:32 |
butBut I say untoto you that every one thatwho puttethdivorces away his wife savingexcept foron the causeground of fornicationunchastity makethmakes her an adulteress:; and whosoeverwhoever shallmarries marrya herdivorced whenwoman shecommits is put away committeth adultery |
| 5:33 |
Again yeyou have heard that it was said to themthe men of old timeYou Thoushall shalt not forswearswear thyselffalsely but shaltshall perform untoto the Lord thinewhat oaths:you have sworn |
| 5:34 |
butBut I say untoto you SwearDo not swear at all; neithereither by the heaven for it is the throne of God; |
| 5:35 |
noror by the earth for it is thehis footstool ofor his feet; nor by Jerusalem for it is the city of the great King |
| 5:36 |
NeitherAnd shaltdo thounot swear by thyyour head for thouyou canstcannot not make one hair white or black |
| 5:37 |
ButLet letwhat youryou speechsay be Yeasimply yea;Yes Nayor nay:No; andanything whatsoever is more than thesethis iscomes offrom the evil one |
| 5:38 |
YeYou have heard that it was said An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth: |
| 5:39 |
butBut I say untoto you ResistDo not himresist thatone who is evil: butBut whosoeverif smitethany theeone strikes you on thythe right cheek turn to him the other also; |
| 5:40 |
Andand if any manone would gosue toyou law with thee and take awayyour thy coat let him have thyyour cloak alsoas well; |
| 5:41 |
Andand whosoeverif shallany compelone theeforces you to go one mile go with him two miles |
| 5:42 |
Give to him thatwho askethbegs theefrom you and fromdo not refuse him thatwho would borrow offrom thee turn not thou awayyou |
| 5:43 |
YeYou have heard that it was said ThouYou shaltshall love thyyour neighbor and hate thineyour enemy: |
| 5:44 |
butBut I say untoto you Love your enemies and pray for themthose thatwho persecute you; |
| 5:45 |
so that yeyou may be sons of your Father who is in heaven:; for he makethmakes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good and sendethsends rain on the just and on the unjust |
| 5:46 |
For if yeyou love themthose thatwho love you what reward have yeyou doDo not even the publicanstax collectors do the same |
| 5:47 |
And if yeyou salute only your brethren only what domore yeare moreyou doing than others doDo not even the Gentiles do the same |
| 5:48 |
YeYou therefore shallmust be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect |
| 6:1 |
TakeBeware heedof thatpracticing ye do not your righteousnesspiety before men in order to be seen ofby them:; elsefor yethen you will have no reward withfrom your Father who is in heaven |
| 6:2 |
WhenThus thereforewhen thouyou doestgive alms sound notno a trumpet before theeyou as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets that they may havebe glorypraised ofby men VerilyTruly I say untoto you Theythey have received their reward |
| 6:3 |
But when thouyou doestgive alms letdo not thylet your left hand know what thyyour right hand doeth:is doing |
| 6:4 |
so that thineyour alms may be in secret:; and thyyour Father who seethsees in secret shallwill recompensereward theeyou |
| 6:5 |
And when yeyou pray yeyou shallmust not be aslike the hypocrites:; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and inat the street corners of the streets that they may be seen ofby men VerilyTruly I say untoto you Theythey have received their reward |
| 6:6 |
But thou when thouyou prayestpray entergo into thineyour innerroom chamber and having shut thythe door and pray to thyyour Father who is in secret; and thyyour Father who seethsees in secret shallwill recompensereward thee you |
| 6:7 |
And in praying usedo not vainheap repetitionsup empty phrases as the Gentiles do:; for they think that they shallwill be heard for their muchmany speakingwords |
| 6:8 |
BeDo not thereforebe like unto them: for your Father knowethknows what thingsyou ye have need of before yeyou ask him |
| 6:9 |
AfterPray thisthen mannerlike therefore pray yethis: Our Father who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name |
| 6:10 |
Thy kingdom come Thy will be done asOn inearth heavenas soit onis earthin heaven |
| 6:11 |
Give us this day our daily bread ; |
| 6:12 |
And forgive us our debts asAs we also have forgiven our debtors ; |
| 6:13 |
And bringlead us not into temptation butBut deliver us from the evil one |
| 6:14 |
For if yeyou forgive men their trespasses your heavenly Father also will also forgive you; |
| 6:15 |
Butbut if yeyou forgivedo not forgive men their trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses |
| 6:16 |
MoreoverAnd when yeyou fast bedo not aslook dismal like the hypocrites of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces that theytheir fasting may be seen ofby men toTruly fast Verily I say untoto you Theythey have received their reward |
| 6:17 |
But thou when thouyou fastestfast anoint thyyour head and wash thyyour face; |
| 6:18 |
that thouyour befasting may not be seen ofby men to fast but ofby thyyour Father who is in secret:; and thyyour Father who seethsees in secret shallwill recompensereward theeyou |
| 6:19 |
LayDo not lay up for yourselves treasures uponon the earth where moth and rust consume and where thieves break throughin and steal: |
| 6:20 |
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust dothconsumes consume and where thieves do not break throughin norand steal: |
| 6:21 |
forFor where thyyour treasure is there will thyyour heart be also |
| 6:22 |
The eye is the lamp of the body isSo the eye: if thereforeyour thine eye beis singlesound thyyour whole body shallwill be full of light; |
| 6:23 |
Butbut if thineyour eye beis evilnot thysound your whole body shallwill be full of darkness If thereforethen the light that is in theeyou beis darkness how great is the darkness |
| 6:24 |
No manone can serve two masters:; for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will holdbe devoted to the one and despise the other YeYou cannot serve God and mammon |
| 6:25 |
Therefore I saytell unto you Bedo not be anxious forabout your life what yeyou shall eat or what yeyou shall drink; nor yetabout for your body what yeyou shall put on Is not the life more than the food and the body more than theclothing raiment |
| 6:26 |
BeholdLook at the birds of the heavenair: that they sow not neither dosow theynor reap nor gather into barns; and yet your heavenly Father feedethfeeds them Are you not ye of much more value than they |
| 6:27 |
And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit untoto thehis measurespan of his life |
| 6:28 |
And why are yeyou anxious concerningabout raimentclothing Consider the lilies of the field how they grow; they toil not neither dotoil theynor spin:; |
| 6:29 |
yet I saytell unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these |
| 6:30 |
But if God doth so clotheclothes the grass of the field which totoday day is alive and totomorrow morrow is castthrown into the oven shallwill he not much more clothe you O yemen of little faith |
| 6:31 |
BeTherefore do not thereforebe anxious saying What shall we eat or What shall we drink or WherewithalWhat shall we bewear clothed |
| 6:32 |
For afterthe Gentiles seek all these things do the Gentiles seek; forand your heavenly Father knowethknows that yeyou have need ofthem all these things |
| 6:33 |
But seek ye first his kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things shall be addedyours untoas you well |
| 6:34 |
BeTherefore do not thereforebe anxious forabout thetomorrow morrow: for thetomorrow morrow will be anxious for itself SufficientLet unto the daydays isown trouble be sufficient for the evil thereofday |
| 7:1 |
Judge not that yeyou be not judged |
| 7:2 |
For with whatthe judgment yeyou judgepronounce yeyou shallwill be judged: and withthe what measure yeyou metegive itwill shall be measuredthe untomeasure you get |
| 7:3 |
AndWhy whydo beholdestyou thousee the motespeck that is in thyyour brothers eye but considerestdo not notice the beamlog that is in thineyour own eye |
| 7:4 |
Or how wiltcan thouyou say to thyyour brother Let me casttake out the motespeck out of thineyour eye; andwhen lothere is the beamlog is in thineyour own eye |
| 7:5 |
ThouYou hypocrite castfirst outtake first the beamlog out of thineyour own eye; and then shaltyou thouwill see clearly to casttake out the motespeck out of thyyour brothers eye |
| 7:6 |
GiveDo not thatgive whichdogs what is holy; untoand thedo dogsnot neitherthrow cast your pearls before the swine lest haply they trample them under theirfoot feet and turn andto rendattack you |
| 7:7 |
Ask and it shallwill be given you; seek and yeyou shallwill find; knock and it shallwill be opened untoto you: |
| 7:8 |
forFor every one thatwho askethasks receiveth;receives and he thatwho seekethseeks findeth;finds and to him thatwho knockethknocks it shallwill be opened |
| 7:9 |
Or what man is there of you who if his son shallasks ask him for abread loaf will give him a stone; |
| 7:10 |
orOr if he shallasks ask for a fish will give him a serpent |
| 7:11 |
If yeyou then beingwho are evil know how to give good gifts untoto your children how much more shallwill your Father who is in heaven give good things to themthose thatwho ask him |
| 7:12 |
AllSo thingswhatever thereforeyou whatsoeverwish ye would that men shouldwould do untoto you evendo so doto ye also unto them:; for this is the law and the prophets |
| 7:13 |
Enter ye in by the narrow gate:; for wide is the gate andis broadwide isand the way is easy that leadethleads to destruction and manythose arewho theyenter thatby enterit inare therebymany |
| 7:14 |
For narrowthe gate is thenarrow gate and straitened the way is hard that leadethleads untoto life and fewthose arewho theyfind thatit findare itfew |
| 7:15 |
Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheeps clothing but inwardly are raveningravenous wolves |
| 7:16 |
ByYou theirwill fruits ye shall know them Doby mentheir gatherfruits Are grapes ofgathered from thorns or figs offrom thistles |
| 7:17 |
EvenSo so every goodsound tree bringethbears forth good fruit; but the corruptbad tree bringethbears forth evil fruit |
| 7:18 |
A goodsound tree cannot bringbear forth evil fruit neithernor can a corruptbad tree bringbear forth good fruit |
| 7:19 |
Every tree that bringethdoes not forthbear good fruit is hewncut down and castthrown into the fire |
| 7:20 |
ThereforeThus byyou theirwill fruitsknow yethem shallby knowtheir them fruits |
| 7:21 |
Not every one thatwho saithsays untoto me Lord Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he thatwho doethdoes the will of my Father who is in heaven |
| 7:22 |
ManyOn that day many will say to me in that day Lord Lord did we not prophesy byin thyyour name and by thy name cast out demons andin byyour thy name and do many mighty works in your name |
| 7:23 |
And then will I professdeclare untoto them I never knew you:; depart from me yeyou that work iniquityevildoers |
| 7:24 |
Every one thereforethen thatwho hearethhears these words of mine and doethdoes them shallwill be likenedlike unto a wise man who built his house upon the rock:; |
| 7:25 |
and the rain descendedfell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house; andbut it felldid not: forfall because it washad been founded uponon the rock |
| 7:26 |
And every one thatwho hearethhears these words of mine and doethdoes not do them notwill shall be likenedlike unto a foolish man who built his house upon the sand:; |
| 7:27 |
and the rain descendedfell and the floods came and the winds blew and smotebeat uponagainst that house; and it fell:; and great was the fall thereofof it |
| 7:28 |
And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these wordssayings the multitudescrowds were astonished at his teaching: |
| 7:29 |
for he taught them as one havingwho had authority and not as their scribes |
| 8:1 |
AndWhen when he wascame come down from the mountain great multitudescrowds followed him; |
| 8:2 |
Andand behold therea leper came to him aand leperknelt andbefore worshipped him saying Lord if thouyou wiltwill thouyou canstcan make me clean |
| 8:3 |
And he stretched forthout his hand and touched him saying I will; be thou made clean And straightwayimmediately his leprosy was cleansed |
| 8:4 |
And Jesus saithsaid untoto him See thouthat tellyou nosay mannothing to any one; but go show thyselfyourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded for a testimonyproof untoto themthe people |
| 8:5 |
AndAs when he was entered intoCaper′na Capernaumum therea centurion came untoforward to him a centurion beseeching him |
| 8:6 |
and saying Lord my servant liethis inlying theparalyzed houseat sickhome ofin theterrible palsydistress grievously tormented |
| 8:7 |
And he saithsaid untoto him I will come and heal him |
| 8:8 |
AndBut the centurion answered andhim said Lord I am not worthy thatto thouhave shouldestyou come under my roof; but only say the word and my servant shallwill be healed |
| 8:9 |
For I also am a man under authority havingwith soldiers under myselfme; soldiers: and I say to this one Go and he goeth;goes and to another Come and he cometh;comes and to my servantslave Do this and he doethdoes it |
| 8:10 |
AndWhen when Jesus heard ithim he marvelledmarveled and said to themthose thatwho followed Verilyhim Truly I say untoto you I have not foundeven soin greatIsrael faithhave noI notfound insuch Israelfaith |
| 8:11 |
And I saytell unto you that many shallwill come from the east and the west and shall sit downat table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven: |
| 8:12 |
butwhile the sons of the kingdom shallwill be castthrown forth into the outer darkness:; there shallmen bewill theweep weeping and thegnash gnashingtheir of teeth |
| 8:13 |
And Jesusto said unto the centurion GoJesus thysaid wayGo; asbe thouit hastdone believedfor soyou beas ityou donehave untobelieved thee And the servant was healed inat that hourvery moment |
| 8:14 |
And when Jesus wasentered come into Peters house he saw his wifes mother in law lying sick ofwith a fever; |
| 8:15 |
And he touched her hand and the fever left her; and she aroserose and ministeredserved unto him |
| 8:16 |
AndThat whenevening even was come they brought untoto him many who were possessed with demons:; and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all thatwho were sick: |
| 8:17 |
thatThis itwas mightto befulfil fulfilledwhat which was spoken throughby Isaiah the prophet sayingIsaiah HimselfHe took our infirmities and barebore our diseases |
| 8:18 |
Now when Jesus saw great multitudescrowds aboutaround him he gave commandmentorders to departgo untoover to the other side |
| 8:19 |
And therea scribe came aup scribe and said untoto him Teacher I will follow theeyou whithersoeverwherever thouyou goestgo |
| 8:20 |
And Jesus saithsaid untoto him TheFoxes foxes have holes and the birds of the heavenair have nests; but the Son of man hathhas notnowhere where to lay his head |
| 8:21 |
AndAnother another of the disciples said untoto him Lord sufferlet me first to go and bury my father |
| 8:22 |
But Jesus saithsaid untoto him Follow me; and leave the dead to bury their own dead |
| 8:23 |
And when he wasgot entered into athe boat his disciples followed him |
| 8:24 |
And behold there arose a great tempeststorm inon the sea insomuchso that the boat was coveredbeing withswamped by the waves:; but he was asleep |
| 8:25 |
And they camewent to him and awokewoke him saying Save Lord; we perishare perishing |
| 8:26 |
And he saithsaid untoto them Why are yeyou fearfulafraid O yemen of little faith Then he aroserose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm |
| 8:27 |
And the men marvelledmarveled saying What mannersort of man is this that even the winds and the sea obey him |
| 8:28 |
And when he wascame come to the other side intoto the country of the Gadarenes theretwo demoniacs met him two possessed with demons coming forth out of the tombs exceedingso fierce so that no manone could pass by that way |
| 8:29 |
And behold they cried out saying What have weyou to do with theeus thouO Son of God artHave thouyou come hitherhere to torment us before the time |
| 8:30 |
Now there was afar off from them a herd of many swine was feeding at some distance from them |
| 8:31 |
And the demons besoughtbegged him saying If thouyou cast us out send us away into the herd of swine |
| 8:32 |
And he said untoto them Go AndSo they came out and went into the swine:; and behold the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the waters |
| 8:33 |
AndThe theyherdsmen that fed them fled and wentgoing away into the city andthey told everything and what washad befallenhappened to themthe thatdemoniacs were possessed with demons |
| 8:34 |
And behold all the city came out to meet Jesus:; and when they saw him they besoughtbegged him thatto heleave would depart from their bordersneighborhood |
| 9:1 |
And hegetting entered into a boat andhe crossed over and came intoto his own city |
| 9:2 |
And behold they brought to him a manparalytic sick of the palsy lying on ahis bed:; and when Jesus seeingsaw their faith he said untoto the sickparalytic ofTake theheart palsymy Son be of good cheerson; thyyour sins are forgiven |
| 9:3 |
And behold certainsome of the scribes said withinto themselves This man blasphemethis blaspheming |
| 9:4 |
AndBut Jesus knowing their thoughts said WhereforeWhy do you think ye evil in your hearts |
| 9:5 |
For which is easier to say ThyYour sins are forgiven; or to say AriseRise and walk |
| 9:6 |
But that yeyou may know that the Son of man hathhas authority on earth to forgive sins—he then saithsaid he to the sickparalytic—Rise of the palsy Arise and take up thyyour bed and go untohome thy house |
| 9:7 |
And he aroserose and departedwent tohome his house |
| 9:8 |
ButWhen when the multitudescrowds saw it they were afraid and they glorified God who had given such authority untoto men |
| 9:9 |
AndAs as Jesus passed byon from thencethere he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the placetax ofoffice; toll: and he saithsaid untoto him Follow me And he aroserose and followed him |
| 9:10 |
And it came to pass as he sat at meattable in the house behold many publicanstax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and his disciples |
| 9:11 |
And when the Pharisees saw itthis they said untoto his disciples Why eatethdoes your Teacherteacher eat with thetax publicanscollectors and sinners |
| 9:12 |
But when he heard it he said TheyThose thatwho are wholewell have no need of a physician but theythose thatwho are sick |
| 9:13 |
ButGo go ye and learn what this meanethmeans I desire mercy and not sacrifice: forFor I came not to call the righteous but sinners |
| 9:14 |
Then come to him the disciples of John came to him saying Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft but thyyour disciples fastdo not fast |
| 9:15 |
And Jesus said untoto them Can the sonswedding ofguests the bridechamber mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them butThe the days will come when the bridegroom shallis be taken away from them and then they will they fast |
| 9:16 |
And no manone puttethputs a piece of undressedunshrunk cloth uponon an old garment; for thatthe whichpatch shouldtears fillaway it up taketh from the garment and a worse renttear is made |
| 9:17 |
Neither dois men put new wine put into old winewineskins; skins:if elseit is the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins perish:are destroyed; but they put new wine is put into fresh winewineskins skins and so both are preserved |
| 9:18 |
While he spakewas thesethus thingsspeaking untoto them behold therea ruler came ain ruler and worshippedknelt before him saying My daughter ishas evenjust nowdied; dead: but come and lay thyyour hand uponon her and she shallwill live |
| 9:19 |
And Jesus aroserose and followed him andwith so did his disciples |
| 9:20 |
And behold a woman who had ansuffered issuefrom ofa bloodhemorrhage for twelve years came up behind him and touched the borderfringe of his garment:; |
| 9:21 |
for she said withinto herself If I doonly but touch his garment I shall be made wholewell |
| 9:22 |
But Jesus turningturned and seeing her he said DaughterTake beheart of good cheerdaughter; thyyour faith hathhas made theeyou wholewell And instantly the woman was made wholewell from that hour |
| 9:23 |
And when Jesus came intoto the rulers house and saw the flute players and the crowd making a tumult |
| 9:24 |
he said GiveDepart; place: for the damselgirl is not dead but sleepethsleeping And they laughed at him to scorn |
| 9:25 |
But when the crowd washad been put forthoutside he enteredwent in and took her by the hand; and the damselgirl arose |
| 9:26 |
And the famereport hereofof this went forththrough into all that landdistrict |
| 9:27 |
And as Jesus passed byon from thencethere two blind men followed him crying outaloud and saying Have mercy on us thouSon son of David |
| 9:28 |
AndWhen when he wasentered come into the house the blind men came to him:; and Jesus saithsaid untoto them BelieveDo yeyou believe that I am able to do this They saysaid untoto him YeaYes Lord |
| 9:29 |
Then he touched he their eyes saying According to your faith be it done untoto you |
| 9:30 |
And their eyes were opened And Jesus strictlysternly charged them saying See that no manone knowknows it |
| 9:31 |
But they went forthaway and spread abroad his fame inthrough all that landdistrict |
| 9:32 |
AndAs as they wentwere forthgoing away behold therea dumb demoniac was brought to him a dumb man possessed with a demon |
| 9:33 |
And when the demon washad been cast out the dumb man spake:spoke; and the multitudescrowds marvelledmarveled saying ItNever was neveranything solike this seen in Israel |
| 9:34 |
But the Pharisees said ByHe thecasts princeout ofdemons by the demonsprince castethof he out demons |
| 9:35 |
And Jesus went about all the cities and the villages teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing allevery manner of disease and allevery mannerinfirmity of sickness |
| 9:36 |
ButWhen when he saw the multitudescrowds he washad moved with compassion for them because they were distressedharassed and scatteredhelpless aslike sheep notwithout having a shepherd |
| 9:37 |
Then saith he untosaid to his disciples The harvest indeed is plenteousplentiful but the laborers are few; |
| 9:38 |
Praypray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest thatto he send forthout laborers into his harvest |
| 10:1 |
And he called untoto him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits to cast them out and to heal allevery manner of disease and allevery mannerinfirmity of sickness |
| 10:2 |
NowThe the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother; James the son of ZebedeeZeb′edee and John his brother; |
| 10:3 |
Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the publicantax collector; James the son of Alphaeus and Thaddaeus; |
| 10:4 |
Simon the Cananaean and Judas Iscariot who also betrayed him |
| 10:5 |
These twelve Jesus sent forthout andcharging charged them saying Go notnowhere intoamong any way of the Gentiles and enter notno intotown any city of the Samaritans: |
| 10:7 |
And preach as yeyou go preach saying The kingdom of heaven is at hand |
| 10:8 |
Heal the sick raise the dead cleanse the lepers cast out demons: freelyYou ye received freelywithout paying give without pay |
| 10:9 |
GetTake you no gold nor silver nor brasscopper in your purses;belts |
| 10:10 |
no walletbag for your journey neithernor two coatstunics nor shoessandals nor a staff:; for the laborer isdeserves worthy of his food |
| 10:11 |
And intowhatever whatsoevertown city or village yeyou shall enter searchfind out who is worthy in it is worthy; and therestay abidewith tillhim yeuntil goyou forthdepart |
| 10:12 |
AndAs asyou ye enter into the house salute it |
| 10:13 |
And if the house beis worthy let your peace come upon it:; but if it beis not worthy let your peace return to you |
| 10:14 |
And whosoeverif shallany one will not receive you noror hearlisten to your words asshake yeoff gothe forthdust outfrom ofyour thatfeet houseas oryou leave that cityhouse shakeor offtown the dust of your feet |
| 10:15 |
VerilyTruly I say untoto you Itit shall be more tolerable foron the landday of Sodomjudgment andfor Gomorrah in the dayland of judgmentSodom and Gomor′rah than for that citytown |
| 10:16 |
Behold I send you forthout as sheep in the midst of wolves:; so be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmlessinnocent as doves |
| 10:17 |
ButBeware beware of men:; for they will deliver you up to councils and flog you in their synagogues they will scourge you; |
| 10:18 |
yea and you will be dragged before governors and kings shall ye be brought for my sake forto abear testimony tobefore them and to the Gentiles |
| 10:19 |
ButWhen when they deliver you up bedo not be anxious how you are to speak or what yeyou shallare speak:to say; for itwhat shallyou are to say will be given to you in that hour; what ye shall speak |
| 10:20 |
Forfor it is not yeyou thatwho speak but the Spirit of your Father thatspeaking speakeththrough in you |
| 10:21 |
AndBrother brotherwill shall deliver up brother to death and the father his child: and children shallwill rise up against parents and causehave them to be put to death; |
| 10:22 |
Andand yeyou shallwill be hated ofby all men for my names sake: butBut he thatwho endurethendures to the end thewill same shall be saved |
| 10:23 |
ButWhen when they persecute you in thisone citytown flee intoto the next:; for verilytruly I say untoto you Yeyou shallwill not have gone through all the citiestowns of Israel tillbefore the Son of man be comecomes |
| 10:24 |
A disciple is not above his teacher nor a servant above his lordmaster; |
| 10:25 |
Itit is enough for the disciple thatto he be aslike his teacher and the servant aslike his lordmaster If they have called the master of the house BeelzebubBe el′zebul how much more themwill they malign those of his household |
| 10:26 |
FearSo themhave notno therefore:fear of them; for therenothing is nothing covered that shallwill not be revealed; andor hidhidden that shallwill not be known |
| 10:27 |
What I tell you in the darknessdark speakutter ye in the light; and what yeyou hear inwhispered the ear proclaim upon the househousetops tops |
| 10:28 |
And bedo not afraidfear ofthose themwho that kill the body but arecannot not able to kill the soul:; but rather fear him who iscan able to destroy both soul and body in hell |
| 10:29 |
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny andAnd not one of them shallwill fall onto the ground without your Father:Fathers will |
| 10:30 |
butBut even the very hairs of your head are all numbered |
| 10:31 |
Fear not therefore:; yeyou are of more value than many sparrows |
| 10:32 |
EverySo every one therefore who shallacknowledges confess me before men him will I also confesswill acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; |
| 10:33 |
Butbut whosoeverwhoever shalldenies deny me before men him will I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven |
| 10:34 |
ThinkDo not think that I camehave come to sendbring peace on the earth:; I camehave not come to sendbring peace but a sword |
| 10:35 |
For I camehave come to set a man at variance against his father and thea daughter against her mother and thea daughter in law against her mother in law:; |
| 10:36 |
and a mans foes shallwill be theythose of his own household |
| 10:37 |
He thatwho lovethloves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he thatwho lovethloves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; |
| 10:38 |
Andand he thatwho dothdoes not take his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me |
| 10:39 |
He thatwho findethfinds his life shallwill lose it; and he thatwho losethloses his life for my sake shallwill find it |
| 10:40 |
He thatwho receivethreceives you receivethreceives me and he thatwho receivethreceives me receivethreceives him thatwho sent me |
| 10:41 |
He thatwho receivethreceives a prophet inbecause thehe nameis of a prophet shall receive a prophets reward: and he thatwho receivethreceives a righteous man inbecause thehe nameis of a righteous man shall receive a righteous mans reward |
| 10:42 |
And whosoeverwhoever shallgives give to drink unto one of these little ones even a cup of cold water onlybecause inhe theis name of a disciple verilytruly I say untoto you he shall innot no wise lose his reward |
| 11:1 |
And it came to pass when Jesus had finished commandinginstructing his twelve disciples he departedwent thenceon from there to teach and preach in their cities |
| 11:2 |
Now when John heard in the prison about the worksdeeds of the Christ he sent word by his disciples |
| 11:3 |
and said untoto him ArtAre thouyou he thatwho comethis to come or lookshall we look for another |
| 11:4 |
And Jesus answered and said unto them Go and tell John thewhat thingsyou which ye hear and see: |
| 11:5 |
the blind receive their sight and the lame walk the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear and the dead are raised up and the poor have good tidingsnews preached to them |
| 11:6 |
And blessed is he whosoeverwho shalltakes find no occasionoffense ofat stumbling in me |
| 11:7 |
AndAs asthey these went theiraway way Jesus began to sayspeak untoto the multitudescrowds concerning John: What wentdid yeyou go out into the wilderness to behold aA reed shaken withby the wind |
| 11:8 |
ButWhy whatthen wentdid yeyou go out toTo see a man clothed in soft raiment Behold theythose thatwho wear soft raiment are in kings houses |
| 11:9 |
ButWhy whereforethen wentdid yeyou go out toTo see a prophet YeaYes I saytell unto you and much more than a prophet |
| 11:10 |
This is he of whom it is written Behold I send my messenger before thy face Whowho shall prepare thy way before thee |
| 11:11 |
VerilyTruly I say untoto you Amongamong themthose that are born of women there hathhas notrisen arisenno aone greater than John the Baptist:; yet he thatwho is butleast little in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he |
| 11:12 |
AndFrom from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven sufferethhas suffered violence and men of violence take it by force |
| 11:13 |
For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John; |
| 11:14 |
Andand if yeyou are willing to receiveaccept it thishe is ElijahEli′jah thatwho is to come |
| 11:15 |
He thatwho hathhas ears to hear let him hear |
| 11:16 |
But whereuntoto what shall I likencompare this generation It is like unto children sitting in the marketplacesmarket whoplaces calland untocalling to their fellows playmates |
| 11:17 |
and say We piped untoto you and yeyou did not dance; we wailed and yeyou did not mourn |
| 11:18 |
For John came neither eating nor drinking and they say He hathhas a demon; |
| 11:19 |
Thethe Son of man came eating and drinking and they say Behold a gluttonousglutton man and a winebibberdrunkard a friend of publicanstax collectors and sinners AndYet wisdom is justified by her worksdeeds |
| 11:20 |
Then he began he to upbraid the cities whereinwhere most of his mighty works werehad been done because they repenteddid not repent |
| 11:21 |
Woe untoto theeyou ChorazinChora′zin woe untoto theeyou BethsaidaBeth sa′ida for if the mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes |
| 11:22 |
But I saytell unto you it shall be more tolerable foron Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you |
| 11:23 |
And thouyou CapernaumCaper′na shaltum thouwill you be exalted untoto heaven thouYou shaltshall gobe brought down untoto Hades: forFor if the mighty works had been done in Sodomyou whichhad werebeen done in theeSodom it would have remained until this day |
| 11:24 |
But I saytell unto you that it shall be more tolerable foron the landday of Sodomjudgment infor the dayland of judgmentSodom than for theeyou |
| 11:25 |
At that seasontime Jesus answereddeclared and said I thank thee O Father Lord of heaven and earth that thou didsthast hidehidden these things from the wise and understanding and didstrevealed reveal them untoto babes:; |
| 11:26 |
yea Father for sosuch it was wellthy pleasinggracious inwill thy sight |
| 11:27 |
All things have been delivered untoto me ofby my Father:; and no one knowethknows the Son saveexcept the Father; neitherand dothno anyone knowknows the Father saveexcept the Son and heany one to whomsoeverwhom the Son willethchooses to reveal him |
| 11:28 |
Come untoto me all yewho that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest |
| 11:29 |
Take my yoke upon you and learn offrom me; for I am meekgentle and lowly in heart: and yeyou shallwill find rest untofor your souls |
| 12:1 |
At that seasontime Jesus went onthrough the sabbathgrainfields dayon through the grainfieldssabbath; and his disciples were hungry and they began to pluck earsheads of grain and to eat |
| 12:2 |
But when the Pharisees when they saw it they said untoto him BeholdLook thyyour disciples doare thatdoing whichwhat it is not lawful to do uponon the sabbath |
| 12:3 |
ButHe he said untoto them Have yeyou not read what David did when he was hungry and theythose thatwho were with him;: |
| 12:4 |
how he entered into the house of God and ate the showbreadbread of the Presence which it was not lawful for him to eat neithernor for themthose thatwho were with him but only for the priests |
| 12:5 |
Or have yeyou not read in the law thathow on the sabbath day the priests in the temple profane the sabbath and are guiltless |
| 12:6 |
But I saytell unto you thatsomething one greater than the temple is here |
| 12:7 |
ButAnd if yeyou had known what this meanethmeans I desire mercy and not sacrifice yeyou would not have condemned the guiltless |
| 12:9 |
And he departedwent thenceon from there and wententered into their synagogue: |
| 12:10 |
andAnd behold there was a man havingwith a withered hand And they asked him saying Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath dayso that they might accuse him |
| 12:11 |
AndHe he said untoto them What man shall there be of you thatif shallhe havehas one sheep and ifit thisfalls fall into a pit on the sabbath day will he not lay hold onof it and lift it out |
| 12:12 |
HowOf how much thenmore value is a man of more value than a sheep WhereforeSo it is lawful to do good on the sabbath day |
| 12:13 |
Then saith he said to the man Stretch forthout thyyour hand And hethe man stretched it forth;out and it was restored whole aslike the other |
| 12:14 |
But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against him how theyto might destroy him |
| 12:15 |
And Jesus perceivingaware itof this withdrew from thence:there andAnd many followed him; and he healed them all |
| 12:16 |
and chargedordered them thatnot theyto should not make him known: |
| 12:17 |
thatThis itwas mightto befulfil fulfilledwhat which was spoken throughby Isaiah the prophet sayingIsaiah: |
| 12:18 |
Behold my servant whom I have chosen; Mymy beloved inwith whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit upon him Andand he shall declareproclaim judgmentjustice to the Gentiles |
| 12:19 |
He shallwill not strivewrangle noror cry aloud; Neithernor shallwill any one hear his voice in the streets; |
| 12:20 |
Ahe bruisedwill reed shall he not break Anda smokingbruised flaxreed shallor hequench nota quenchsmoldering Tillwick till he sendbrings forthjustice judgmentto unto victory; |
| 12:21 |
And and in his name shallwill the Gentiles hope |
| 12:22 |
Then wasa broughtblind untoand himdumb onedemoniac possessedwas withbrought ato demonhim blind and dumb: and he healed him insomuchso that the dumb man spakespoke and saw |
| 12:23 |
And all the multitudespeople were amazed and said Can this be the sonSon of David |
| 12:24 |
But when the Pharisees heard it they said ThisIt manis dothonly notby castBe outel′zebul demonsthe butprince byof Beelzebubdemons thethat princethis ofman thecasts out demons |
| 12:25 |
AndKnowing knowing their thoughts he said untoto them Every kingdom divided against itself is broughtlaid towaste desolation; and everyno city or house divided against itself shallwill not stand:; |
| 12:26 |
and if Satan castethcasts out Satan he is divided against himself; how then shallwill his kingdom stand |
| 12:27 |
And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons by Be el′zebul by whom do your sons cast them out thereforeTherefore they shall they be your judges |
| 12:28 |
But if Iit is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons then is the kingdom of God has come upon you |
| 12:29 |
Or how can one enter intoa thestrong mans house of the strong man and spoilplunder his goods exceptunless he first bindbinds the strong man andThen thenindeed he willmay spoilplunder his house |
| 12:30 |
He thatwho is not with me is against me; and he thatwho gatherethdoes not gather with me scatterethscatters |
| 12:31 |
Therefore I saytell unto you Everyevery sin and blasphemy shallwill be forgiven unto men; but the blasphemy against the Spirit shallwill not be forgiven |
| 12:32 |
And whosoeverwhoever shallsays speak a word against the Son of man itwill shall be forgiven him; but whosoeverwhoever shallspeaks speak against the Holy Spirit itwill shall not be forgiven himeither neither in this worldage noror in thatthe whichage is to come |
| 12:33 |
Either make the tree good and its fruit good; or make the tree corruptbad and its fruit corrupt:bad; for the tree is known by its fruit |
| 12:34 |
YeYou offspringbrood of vipers how can yeyou being evil speak good thingswhen foryou are evil For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speakethspeaks |
| 12:35 |
The good man out of his good treasure bringethbrings forth good things: and the evil man out of his evil treasure bringethbrings forth evil things |
| 12:36 |
And I saytell unto you thaton everythe idleday wordof thatjudgment men shallwill speakrender they shall give account thereoffor inevery thecareless dayword ofthey judgmentutter; |
| 12:37 |
Forfor by thyyour words thouyou shaltwill be justified and by thyyour words thouyou shaltwill be condemned |
| 12:38 |
Then certainsome of the scribes and Pharisees answeredsaid to him saying Teacher we wouldwish to see a sign from theeyou |
| 12:39 |
But he answered and said unto them An evil and adulterous generation seekethseeks afterfor a sign; andbut there shall no sign shall be given to it butexcept the sign of Jonah the prophet: Jonah |
| 12:40 |
forFor as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale; so shallwill the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth |
| 12:41 |
The men of NinevehNin′eveh shallwill standarise upat in the judgment with this generation and shall condemn it:; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold asomething greater than Jonah is here |
| 12:42 |
The queen of the southSouth shallwill risearise upat in the judgment with this generation and shall condemn it:; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold asomething greater than Solomon is here |
| 12:43 |
ButWhen the unclean spirit whenhas he is gone out of thea man passethhe passes through waterless places seeking rest andbut findethhe itfinds notnone |
| 12:44 |
Then he saithsays I will return intoto my house whencefrom which I came out;And and when he iscomes come he findethfinds it empty swept and garnishedput in order |
| 12:45 |
Then goeth he goes and takethbrings with himselfhim seven other spirits more evil than himself and they enter in and dwell there:; and the last state of that man becomethbecomes worse than the first EvenSo so shall it be also untowith this evil generation |
| 12:46 |
While he was yetstill speaking to the multitudespeople behold his mother and his brethrenbrothers stood withoutoutside seekingasking to speak to him |
| 12:47 |
And one said unto him Behold thy mother and thy brethren stand without seeking to speak to thee |
| 12:48 |
But he answeredreplied andto saidthe untoman himwho that told him Who is my mother and who are my brethrenbrothers |
| 12:49 |
And hestretching stretchedout forth his hand towardstoward his disciples andhe said BeholdHere are my mother and my brethrenbrothers |
| 12:50 |
For whosoeverwhoever shalldoes do the will of my Father who is in heaven he is my brother and sister and mother |
| 13:1 |
OnThat thatsame day Jesus went Jesus out of the house and sat bybeside the sea side |
| 13:2 |
And theregreat werecrowds gathered untoabout him great multitudes so that he enteredgot into a boat and sat there; and all the multitudewhole crowd stood on the beach |
| 13:3 |
And he spaketold to them many things in parables saying: BeholdA the sower went forthout to sow; |
| 13:4 |
andAnd as he sowed some seeds fell byalong the waypath side and the birds came and devoured them: |
| 13:5 |
andOther othersseeds fell uponon the rocky placesground where they had not much earth:soil and straightwayimmediately they sprang up becausesince they had no deepnessdepth of earth:soil |
| 13:6 |
andbut when the sun wasrose risen they were scorched; and becausesince they had no root they withered away |
| 13:7 |
AndOther othersseeds fell upon the thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked them: |
| 13:8 |
andOther othersseeds fell uponon the good groundsoil and yieldedbrought fruitforth grain some a hundredfold some sixty some thirty |
| 13:9 |
He thatwho hathhas ears let him hear |
| 13:10 |
AndThen the disciples came and said untoto him Why speakestdo thouyou untospeak to them in parables |
| 13:11 |
And he answered and said unto them UntoTo you it ishas been given to know the mysteriessecrets of the kingdom of heaven but to them it ishas not been given |
| 13:12 |
For whosoever hath to him shallwho has will more be given and he shallwill have abundance:; but whosoeverfrom hathhim who has not fromeven himwhat shallhe has will be taken away even that which he hath |
| 13:13 |
ThereforeThis speakis why I speak to them in parables; because seeing they seedo not see and hearing they heardo not neitherhear nor do they understand |
| 13:14 |
AndWith unto them indeed is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah which saithsays: ByYou hearingshall yeindeed shall hear andbut shallnever in no wise understand; Andand seeingyou ye shall indeed see andbut shallnever in no wise perceive: |
| 13:15 |
For this peoples heart ishas waxedgrown grossdull Andand their ears are dullheavy of hearing Andand their eyes they have closed; Lestlest haply they should perceive with their eyes Andand hear with their ears Andand understand with their heart Andand should turn againfor Andme Ito should heal them |
| 13:16 |
But blessed are your eyes for they see; and your ears for they hear |
| 13:17 |
ForTruly verily I say untoto you that many prophets and righteous men desiredlonged to see thewhat thingsyou which ye see and sawdid them not; see it and to hear thewhat thingsyou which ye hear and hearddid them not hear it |
| 13:18 |
Hear then ye the parable of the sower |
| 13:19 |
When any one hearethhears the word of the kingdom and understandethdoes it not thenunderstand comethit the evil one comes and snatchethsnatches away thatwhat whichis hath been sown in his heart; Thisthis is hewhat that was sown byalong the waypath side |
| 13:20 |
AndAs hefor thatwhat was sown uponon the rocky placesground this is he thatwho hearethhears the word and straightwayimmediately receives it with joy receiveth it; |
| 13:21 |
yet hath he nothas no root in himself but endurethendures for a while; and when tribulation or persecution arisetharises becauseon account of the word straightwayimmediately he stumblethfalls away |
| 13:22 |
AndAs hefor thatwhat was sown among the thorns this is he thatwho hearethhears the word; andbut the carecares of the world and the deceitfulnessdelight ofin riches choke the word and heit becomethproves unfruitful |
| 13:23 |
AndAs hefor thatwhat was sown uponon the good groundsoil this is he thatwho hearethhears the word and understandethunderstands it; whohe verilyindeed bearethbears fruit and bringethyields forthin someone case a hundredfold somein another sixty someand in another thirty |
| 13:24 |
Another parable set he put before them saying The kingdom of heaven ismay likenedbe untocompared to a man thatwho sowed good seed in his field:; |
| 13:25 |
but while men sleptwere sleeping his enemy came and sowed taresweeds also among the wheat and went away |
| 13:26 |
ButSo when the bladeplants sprangcame up and broughtbore forthgrain fruit then appeared the taresweeds appeared also |
| 13:27 |
And the servants of the householder came and said untoto him Sir didstdid thouyou not sow good seed in thyyour field whenceHow then hathhas it taresweeds |
| 13:28 |
AndHe he said untoto them An enemy hathhas done this AndThe the servants saysaid untoto him WiltThen thoudo thenyou thatwant weus to go and gather them up |
| 13:29 |
But he saithsaid NayNo; lest haplyin whilegathering ye gather up the taresweeds yeyou root up the wheat along with them |
| 13:30 |
Let both grow together until the harvest:; and inat theharvest time of the harvest I will saytell to the reapers Gather upthe weeds first the tares and bind them in bundles to burnbe them;burned but gather the wheat into my barn |
| 13:31 |
Another parable set he put before them saying The kingdom of heaven is like unto a grain of mustard seed which a man took and sowed in his field:; |
| 13:32 |
whichit indeed is lessthe thansmallest of all seeds; but when it ishas grown it is greaterthe thangreatest theof herbsshrubs and becomethbecomes a tree so that the birds of the heavenair come and lodgemake nests in theits branches thereof |
| 13:33 |
AnotherHe parabletold spakethem heanother untoparable them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of mealflour till it was all leavened |
| 13:34 |
All thesethis thingsJesus spakesaid Jesusto the crowds in parables; untoindeed thehe multitudes;said andnothing to them without a parable spake he nothing unto them: |
| 13:35 |
thatThis itwas mightto befulfil fulfilledwhat which was spoken throughby the prophet: saying I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter thingswhat has been hidden fromsince the foundation of the world |
| 13:36 |
Then he left the multitudescrowds and went into the house: andAnd his disciples came untoto him saying Explain untoto us the parable of the taresweeds of the field |
| 13:37 |
AndHe he answered and said He thatwho sowethsows the good seed is the Son of man; |
| 13:38 |
and the field is the world; and the good seed thesemeans are the sons of the kingdom; and the taresweeds are the sons of the evil one; |
| 13:39 |
and the enemy thatwho sowed them is the devil:; and the harvest is the endclose of the world;age and the reapers are angels |
| 13:40 |
AsJust thereforeas the taresweeds are gathered up and burned with fire; so shallwill it be inat the endclose of the worldage |
| 13:41 |
The Son of man shallwill send forth his angels and they shallwill gather out of his kingdom all thingscauses thatof causesin stumbling and themall thatevildoers do iniquity |
| 13:42 |
and shallthrow cast them into the furnace of fire:; there shallmen bewill theweep weeping and thegnash gnashingtheir of teeth |
| 13:43 |
Then shall the righteous will shine forthlike as the sun in the kingdom of their Father He thatwho hathhas ears let him hear |
| 13:44 |
The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in thea field; which a man found and hidcovered up; andthen in his joy he goethgoes and sellethsells all that he hathhas and buyethbuys that field |
| 13:45 |
Again the kingdom of heaven is like unto a manmerchant thatin issearch aof merchantfine seeking goodly pearls: |
| 13:46 |
andwho havingon foundfinding one pearl of great pricevalue he went and sold all that he had and bought it |
| 13:47 |
Again the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net thatwhich was castthrown into the sea and gathered fish of every kind:; |
| 13:48 |
which when it was filledfull theymen drew upit onashore the beach; and they sat down and gatheredsorted the good into vessels but threw away the bad they cast away |
| 13:49 |
So shall it will be inat the endclose of the world:age theThe angels shallwill come forthout and severseparate the wickedevil from among the righteous |
| 13:50 |
and shallthrow cast them into the furnace of fire:; there shallmen bewill theweep weeping and thegnash gnashingtheir of teeth |
| 13:51 |
Have yeyou understood all thesethis things They saysaid untoto him YeaYes |
| 13:52 |
And he said untoto them Therefore every scribe who hathhas been madetrained afor disciple to the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder who bringethbrings forth out of his treasure thingswhat is new and what is old |
| 13:53 |
And it came to pass when Jesus had finished these parables he departedwent thenceaway from there |
| 13:54 |
Andand coming intoto his own country he taught them in their synagogue insomuchso that they were astonished and said WhenceWhere hathdid this man get this wisdom and these mighty works |
| 13:55 |
Is not this the carpenters son isIs not his mother called Mary andAnd are not his brethrenbrothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judas |
| 13:56 |
And his sisters are they not all his sisters with us WhenceWhere then hathdid this man get all thesethis things |
| 13:57 |
And they weretook offendedoffense inat him But Jesus said untoto them A prophet is not without honor saveexcept in his own country and in his own house |
| 13:58 |
And he did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief |
| 14:1 |
At that seasontime Herod the tetrarch heard about the reportfame concerningof Jesus; |
| 14:2 |
and he said untoto his servants This is John the Baptist; he ishas risenbeen raised from the dead; andthat thereforeis dowhy these powers are at work in him |
| 14:3 |
For Herod had laidseized hold on John and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of HerodiasHero′di as his brother Philips wife; |
| 14:4 |
Forbecause John said untoto him It is not lawful for theeyou to have her |
| 14:5 |
And whenthough he wouldwanted haveto put him to death he feared the multitudepeople because they countedheld him asto be a prophet |
| 14:6 |
But when Herods birthday came the daughter of HerodiasHero′di as danced inbefore the midstcompany and pleased Herod |
| 14:7 |
Whereuponso that he promised with an oath to give her whatsoeverwhatever she shouldmight ask |
| 14:8 |
AndPrompted she being put forward by her mother saithshe said Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist here on a platter |
| 14:9 |
And the king was grievedsorry; but forbecause the sake of his oaths and ofhis themguests that sat at meat with him he commanded it to be given; |
| 14:10 |
and he sent and beheadedhad John beheaded in the prison |
| 14:11 |
Andand his head was brought on a platter and given to the damsel:girl and she brought it to her mother |
| 14:12 |
And his disciples came and took up the corpsebody and buried himit; and they went and told Jesus |
| 14:13 |
Now when Jesus heard itthis he withdrew from thencethere in a boat to a desertlonely place apart: andBut when the multitudescrowds heard thereofit they followed him on foot from the citiestowns |
| 14:14 |
AndAs he camewent forthashore andhe saw a great multitudethrong; and he had compassion on them and healed their sick |
| 14:15 |
AndWhen whenit even was comeevening the disciples came to him sayingand Thesaid placeThis is deserta lonely place and the timeday is alreadynow pastover; send the multitudescrowds away thatto they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves food |
| 14:16 |
But Jesus said unto them They have no need tonot go away; you give ye them something to eat |
| 14:17 |
AndThey theysaid sayto unto him We have hereonly but five loaves here and two fishesfish |
| 14:18 |
And he said Bring them hitherhere to me |
| 14:19 |
AndThen he commandedordered the multitudescrowds to sit down on the grass; and hetaking took the five loaves and the two fishesfish andhe lookinglooked up to heaven heand blessed and brakebroke and gave the loaves to the disciples and the disciples gave them to the multitudescrowds |
| 14:20 |
And they all ate and were filled:satisfied andAnd they took up thattwelve whichbaskets remainedfull over of the broken pieces twelveleft basketsover full |
| 14:21 |
And theythose thatwho didate eat were about five thousand men besides women and children |
| 14:22 |
AndThen straightway he constrainedmade the disciples toget enter into the boat and to go before him untoto the other side tillwhile he shoulddismissed send the multitudescrowds away |
| 14:23 |
And after he had sentdismissed the multitudescrowds away he went up intoon the mountain apartby himself to pray: andWhen whenevening evencame was come he was there alone |
| 14:24 |
Butbut the boat by this time was nowmany infurlongs thedistant midstfrom of the sealand distressedbeaten by the waves; for the wind was contraryagainst them |
| 14:25 |
And in the fourth watch of the night he came untoto them walking uponon the sea |
| 14:26 |
AndBut when the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were troubledterrified saying It is a ghost; and they cried out for fear |
| 14:27 |
But straightwayimmediately Jesushe spakespoke untoto them saying BeTake ofheart good cheer; it is I; behave notno afraid fear |
| 14:28 |
And Peter answered him and said Lord if it beis thouyou bid me come untoto theeyou uponon the waterswater |
| 14:29 |
AndHe he said Come AndSo Peter wentgot downout fromof the boat and walked uponon the waterswater toand comecame to Jesus; |
| 14:30 |
Butbut when he saw the wind he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out saying Lord save me |
| 14:31 |
AndJesus immediately Jesusreached stretchedout forth his hand and tookcaught hold of him andsaying saithto unto him O thouman of little faith whereforewhy didstdid thouyou doubt |
| 14:32 |
And when they weregot gone up into the boat the wind ceased |
| 14:33 |
And theythose that were in the boat worshippedworshiped him saying OfTruly ayou truthare thou art the Son of God |
| 14:34 |
And when they had crossed over they came to the land untoat GennesaretGennes′aret |
| 14:35 |
And when the men of that place knewrecognized him they sent intoround to all that region round about and brought untoto him all that were sick; |
| 14:36 |
and they besought him that they might only touch the borderfringe of his garment:; and as many as touched it were made wholewell |
| 15:1 |
Then therePharisees comeand scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem Pharisees and scribessaid saying |
| 15:2 |
Why do thyyour disciples transgress the tradition of the elders forFor they washdo not wash their hands when they eat bread |
| 15:3 |
AndHe he answered andthem saidAnd untowhy them Why do yeyou also transgress the commandment of God becausefor the sake of your tradition |
| 15:4 |
For God saidcommanded Honor thyyour father and thyyour mother: and He thatwho speakethspeaks evil of father or mother let him surely die the death |
| 15:5 |
But yeyou say WhosoeverIf shallany sayone totells his father or his mother ThatWhat wherewithyou thouwould mightest have beengained profitedfrom by me is given to God; he need not honor his father |
| 15:6 |
heSo shallfor notthe honorsake hisof fatheryour Andtradition yeyou have made void the word of God because of your tradition |
| 15:7 |
YeYou hypocrites wellWell did Isaiah prophesy of you sayingwhen he said: |
| 15:8 |
This people honorethhonors me with their lips; Butbut their heart is far from me; |
| 15:9 |
But in vain do they worship me Teachingteaching as their doctrines the precepts of men |
| 15:10 |
And he called the people to him the multitude and said untoto them Hear and understand: |
| 15:11 |
Notnot thatwhat whichgoes entereth into the mouth defilethdefiles thea man; but thatwhat whichcomes proceedeth out of the mouth this defilethdefiles thea man |
| 15:12 |
Then came the disciples came and said untoto him KnowestDo thouyou know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying |
| 15:13 |
ButHe he answered and said Every plant which my heavenly Father plantedhas not shallplanted will be rooted up |
| 15:14 |
Let them alone:; they are blind guides And if thea blind guideman theleads a blind man both shallwill fall into a pit |
| 15:15 |
AndBut Peter answered and said untoto him DeclareExplain unto us the parable to us |
| 15:16 |
And he said Are yeyou also evenstill yet without understanding |
| 15:17 |
PerceiveDo yeyou not see that whatsoeverwhatever goethgoes into the mouth passethpasses into the bellystomach and isso castpasses outon into the draught |
| 15:18 |
But thewhat thingscomes which proceed out of the mouth comeproceeds forthfrom out of the heart; and theythis defiledefiles thea man |
| 15:19 |
For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts murdersmurder adulteriesadultery fornicationsfornication theftstheft false witness railings:slander |
| 15:20 |
theseThese are thewhat things which defile thea man; but to eat with unwashenunwashed hands defilethdoes not thedefile a man |
| 15:21 |
And Jesus went outaway thencefrom there and withdrew intoto the partsdistrict of Tyre and Sidon |
| 15:22 |
And behold a CanaanitishCanaanite woman camefrom outthat fromregion thosecame bordersout and cried saying Have mercy on me O Lord thouSon son of David; my daughter is grievouslyseverely vexedpossessed withby a demon |
| 15:23 |
But he answereddid not answer her not a word And his disciples came and besoughtbegged him saying Send her away; for she criethis crying after us |
| 15:24 |
ButHe he answered and said I was not sent butonly untoto the lost sheep of the house of Israel |
| 15:25 |
But she came and worshippedknelt before him saying Lord help me |
| 15:26 |
And he answered and said It is not meetfair to take the childrens bread and castthrow it to the dogs |
| 15:27 |
ButShe she said YeaYes Lord: foryet even the dogs eat of the crumbs whichthat fall from their masters table |
| 15:28 |
Then Jesus answered and said unto her O woman great is thyyour faith: beBe it done untofor theeyou even as thouyou wiltdesire And her daughter was healed from that hourinstantly |
| 15:29 |
And Jesus departedwent thenceon from there and camepassed nighalong unto the seaSea of Galilee; andAnd he went up intoon the mountain and sat down there |
| 15:30 |
And theregreat crowds came untoto him greatbringing multitudes having with them the lame the maimed the blind the dumb maimed and many others and they castput them down at his feet; and he healed them: |
| 15:31 |
insomuchso that the multitudethrong wondered when they saw the dumb speaking the maimed whole and the lame walking and the blind seeing:; and they glorified the God of Israel |
| 15:32 |
AndThen Jesus called unto him his disciples to him and said I have compassion on the multitudecrowd because they continuehave been with me now three days and have nothing to eat:; and I wouldam notunwilling to send them away fastinghungry lest haply they faint on the way |
| 15:33 |
And the disciples saysaid untoto him WhenceWhere shouldare we haveto soget manybread loavesenough in athe desert place as to fillfeed so great a multitudecrowd |
| 15:34 |
And Jesus said untoto them How many loaves have yeyou AndThey they said Seven and a few small fishesfish |
| 15:35 |
And hecommanding commanded the multitudecrowd to sit down on the ground; |
| 15:36 |
and he took the seven loaves and the fishes;fish and hehaving gavegiven thanks andhe brakebroke them and gave them to the disciples and the disciples gave them to the multitudescrowds |
| 15:37 |
And they all ate and were filled:satisfied; and they took up thatseven whichbaskets remainedfull over of the broken pieces sevenleft basketsover full |
| 15:38 |
AndThose theywho thatate did eat were four thousand men besides women and children |
| 15:39 |
And hesending sent away the multitudescrowds andhe enteredgot into the boat and camewent intoto the bordersregion of MagadanMag′adan |
| 16:1 |
And the Pharisees and SadduceesSad′ducees came and tryingto test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven |
| 16:2 |
ButHe he answered and said unto them When it is evening yeyou say It will be fair weather:; for the heavensky is red |
| 16:3 |
And in the morning It will be foulstormy weathertoday to day: for the heavensky is red and loweringthreatening YeYou know how to discerninterpret the faceappearance of the heaven;sky but yeyou cannot discerninterpret the signs of the times |
| 16:4 |
An evil and adulterous generation seekethseeks afterfor a sign; andbut there shall no sign shall be given untoto it butexcept the sign of Jonah AndSo he left them and departed |
| 16:5 |
AndWhen the disciples camereached to the other side andthey forgothad forgotten to takebring any bread |
| 16:6 |
And Jesus said untoto them Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and SadduceesSad′ducees |
| 16:7 |
And they reasoneddiscussed it among themselves saying We tookbrought no bread |
| 16:8 |
AndBut Jesus perceivingaware itof this said O yemen of little faith why reasondo yeyou discuss among yourselves becausethe yefact that you have no bread |
| 16:9 |
Do yeyou not yet perceive neitherDo you not remember the five loaves of the five thousand and how many baskets yeyou tookgathered up |
| 16:10 |
NeitherOr the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many baskets yeyou tookgathered up |
| 16:11 |
How is it that yeyou dofail notto perceive that I spakedid not tospeak youabout concerning bread ButBeware beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and SadduceesSad′ducees |
| 16:12 |
Then they understood they that he badedid not tell them notto beware of the leaven of bread but of the teaching of the Pharisees and SadduceesSad′ducees |
| 16:13 |
Now when Jesus came into the partsdistrict of CaesareaCaesare′a Philippi he asked his disciples saying Who do men say that the Son of man is |
| 16:14 |
And they said Some say John the Baptist; someothers Elijah;say Eli′jah and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets |
| 16:15 |
He saithsaid untoto them But who do you say ye that I am |
| 16:16 |
And Simon Peter answeredreplied andYou saidare Thou art the Christ the Son of the living God |
| 16:17 |
And Jesus answered and said unto him Blessed artare thouyou Simon Bar Jonah:Jona forFor flesh and blood hathhas not revealed itthis untoto theeyou but my Father who is in heaven |
| 16:18 |
And I alsotell sayyou untoyou theeare that thou art Peter and uponon this rock I will build my church; and the gatespowers of Hadesdeath shall not prevail against it |
| 16:19 |
I will give untoyou thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoeverwhatever thouyou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoeverwhatever thouyou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven |
| 16:20 |
Then he strictly charged he the disciples thatto they should tell no manone that he was the Christ |
| 16:21 |
From that time Jesus began Jesus to show unto his disciples that he must go untoto Jerusalem and suffer many things offrom the elders and chief priests and scribes and be killed and on the third day be raised up |
| 16:22 |
And Peter took him and began to rebuke him saying BeGod itforbid far from thee Lord: thisThis shall never behappen untoto theeyou |
| 16:23 |
But he turned and said untoto Peter Get thee behind me Satan: thouYou artare a stumblinghindrance blockto unto me:; for thouyou mindestare not on the thingsside of God but the things of men |
| 16:24 |
Then said Jesus untotold his disciples If any man would come after me let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me |
| 16:25 |
For whosoeverwhoever would save his life shallwill lose it: and whosoeverwhoever shallloses lose his life for my sake shallwill find it |
| 16:26 |
For what shallwill it profit a man be profited if he shallgains gain the whole world and forfeitforfeits his life orOr what shall a man give in exchangereturn for his life |
| 16:27 |
For the Son of man shallis to come with his angels in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he renderwill untorepay every man accordingfor towhat hishe deedshas done |
| 16:28 |
VerilyTruly I say untoto you Therethere are some ofstanding them that stand here who shallwill innot no wise taste of death tillbefore they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom |
| 17:1 |
And after six days Jesus takethtook with him Peter and James and John his brother and bringethled them up into a high mountain apart: |
| 17:2 |
andAnd he was transfigured before them; and his face didshone shinelike as the sun and his garments became white as the light |
| 17:3 |
And behold there appeared untoto them Moses and ElijahEli′jah talking with him |
| 17:4 |
And Peter answered and said untoto Jesus Lord it is goodwell forthat uswe toare be here:; if thouyou wiltwish I will make here three tabernacles;booths here one for theeyou and one for Moses and one for ElijahEli′jah |
| 17:5 |
WhileHe he was yetstill speaking beholdwhen lo a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice outfrom of the cloud sayingsaid This is my beloved Son inwith whom I am well pleased; hearlisten yeto him |
| 17:6 |
AndWhen when the disciples heard itthis they fell on their facefaces and were sorefilled afraidwith awe |
| 17:7 |
AndBut Jesus came and touched them andsaying saidRise Arise and behave notno afraidfear |
| 17:8 |
And liftingwhen they lifted up their eyes they saw no one savebut Jesus only |
| 17:9 |
And as they were coming down from the mountain Jesus commanded them saying Tell no one the vision to no man until the Son of man beis risenraised from the dead |
| 17:10 |
And histhe disciples asked him sayingThen Whywhy thendo say the scribes say that Elijahfirst Eli′jah must first come |
| 17:11 |
AndHe hereplied answeredEli′jah anddoes saidcome Elijahand indeedhe comethis andto shall restore all things:; |
| 17:12 |
but I saytell unto you that ElijahEli′jah ishas already come already and they knewdid not know him not but did untoto him whatsoeverwhatever they wouldpleased EvenSo soalso shall the Son of man alsowill suffer ofat themtheir hands |
| 17:13 |
Then understood the disciples understood that he spakewas untospeaking to them of John the Baptist |
| 17:14 |
And when they werecame come to the multitudecrowd therea man came up to him aand man kneeling tobefore him andsaid saying |
| 17:15 |
Lord have mercy on my son: for he is an epileptic and sufferethhe grievouslysuffers terribly; for oftoften times he fallethfalls into the fire and oftoften times into the water |
| 17:16 |
And I brought him to thyyour disciples and they could not cureheal him |
| 17:17 |
And Jesus answered and said O faithless and perverse generation how long shallam I to be with you howHow long shallam I to bear with you bringBring him hitherhere to me |
| 17:18 |
And Jesus rebuked him; and the demon wentcame out of him: and the boy was cured frominstantly that hour |
| 17:19 |
Then came the disciples came to Jesus apartprivately and said Why could we not we cast it out |
| 17:20 |
AndHe hesaid saithto unto them Because of your little faith: forFor verilytruly I say untoto you Ifif yeyou have faith as a grain of mustard seed yeyou shallwill say untoto this mountain RemoveMove hencefrom here to yonderthere place; and it shallwill removemove; and nothing shallwill be impossible untoto you |
| 17:22 |
AndAs while they abodewere gathering in Galilee Jesus said untoto them The Son of man shallis to be delivered up into the hands of men; |
| 17:23 |
and they shallwill kill him and the third day he shallwill be raised upon the third day And they were exceedinggreatly sorrydistressed |
| 17:24 |
AndWhen when they werecame come to CapernaumCaper′na theyum thatthe receivedcollectors of the half shekel cametax went up to Peter and said DothDoes not your teacher pay the halftax shekel |
| 17:25 |
He saithsaid YeaYes And when he came intohome the house Jesus spakespoke first to him first saying What thinkestdo thouyou think Simon theFrom whom do kings of the earth fromtake whom do they receive toll or tribute fromFrom their sons or from strangersothers |
| 17:26 |
And when he said From strangersothers Jesus said untoto him ThereforeThen the sons are free |
| 17:27 |
ButHowever lestnot weto causegive themoffense to stumblethem go thou to the sea and cast a hook and take up the first fish that firstcomes cometh up; and when thouyou hastopen openedits his mouth thouyou shaltwill find a shekel:; take that take and give untoit to them for me and theefor yourself |
| 18:1 |
InAt that hourtime came the disciples untocame to Jesus saying Who then is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven |
| 18:2 |
And hecalling called to him a little child andhe setput him in the midst of them |
| 18:3 |
and said VerilyTruly I say untoto you Exceptunless yeyou turn and become aslike little children yeyou shallwill innever no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven |
| 18:4 |
WhosoeverWhoever thereforehumbles shall humble himself aslike this little child thehe same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven |
| 18:5 |
AndWhoever whosoreceives shall receive one such little child in my name receivethreceives me:; |
| 18:6 |
but whosowhoever shallcauses cause one of these little ones thatwho believe onin me to stumblesin it iswould profitablebe better for him thatto have a great millstone shouldfastened beround hanged about his neck and thatto he should be sunkdrowned in the depth of the sea |
| 18:7 |
Woe untoto the world becausefor oftemptations occasionsto ofsin stumblingFor for it mustis needsnecessary be that thetemptations occasions come; but woe to thatthe man throughby whom the occasiontemptation comethcomes |
| 18:8 |
And if thyyour hand or thyyour foot causethcauses theeyou to stumblesin cut it off and castthrow it fromaway; thee: it is goodbetter for theeyou to enter into life maimed or haltlame rather than havingwith two hands or two feet to be castthrown into the eternal fire |
| 18:9 |
And if thineyour eye causethcauses theeyou to stumblesin pluck it out and castthrow it fromaway; thee: it is goodbetter for theeyou to enter into life with one eye rather than havingwith two eyes to be castthrown into the hell of fire |
| 18:10 |
See that yeyou despisedo not despise one of these little ones:; for I saytell unto you that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven |
| 18:12 |
HowWhat do you think yeIf ifa any man havehas a hundred sheep and one of them behas gone astray dothdoes he not leave the ninety and nine on the mountains and go untoin thesearch mountainsof andthe seekone that whichwent goeth astray |
| 18:13 |
And if so be that he findfinds it verilytruly I say untoto you he rejoicethrejoices over it more than over the ninety and nine whichthat havenever notwent gone astray |
| 18:14 |
EvenSo so it is not the will of yourmy Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish |
| 18:15 |
AndIf ifyour thy brother sinsins against theeyou go showand tell him his fault between theeyou and him alone: ifIf he hearlistens theeto thouyou hastyou have gained thyyour brother |
| 18:16 |
But if he heardoes thee not listen take with thee one or two moreothers along with you that atevery word may be confirmed by the mouthevidence of two witnesses or three everywitnesses word may be established |
| 18:17 |
AndIf if he refuserefuses to hearlisten to them tell it untoto the church:; and if he refuserefuses to hearlisten even to the church also let him be untoto theeyou as thea Gentile and thea publicantax collector |
| 18:18 |
VerilyTruly I say untoto you Whatwhatever thingsyou soever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatwhatever thingsyou soever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven |
| 18:19 |
Again I say untoto you that if two of you shall agree on earth asabout touching anything that they shall ask it shallwill be done for them ofby my Father who is in heaven |
| 18:20 |
For where two or three are gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them |
| 18:21 |
Then Peter came Peterup and said to him Lord how oftoften shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him untilAs many as seven times |
| 18:22 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto him I saydo not untosay theeto Untilyou seven times; but Until seventy times seven |
| 18:23 |
Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likenedmay untobe compared to a certain king who wouldwished maketo asettle reckoningaccounts with his servants |
| 18:24 |
AndWhen when he hadbegan begunthe toreckoning reckon one was brought untoto him thatwho owed him ten thousand Thistalents; talent was probably worth about £200 or $1000talents |
| 18:25 |
Butand forasmuch as he hadcould not wherewith to pay his lord commandedordered him to be sold andwith his wife and children and all that he had and payment to be made |
| 18:26 |
TheSo the servant therefore fell downon andhis worshippedknees imploring him saying Lord have patience with me and I will pay theeyou alleverything |
| 18:27 |
And out of pity for him the lord of that servant being moved with compassion released him and forgave him the debt |
| 18:28 |
But that same servant as he went out andcame foundupon one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred shillings:denarii; and heseizing laid hold on him and took him by the throat sayinghe said Pay what thouyou owestowe |
| 18:29 |
So his fellow servant fell down and besought him saying Have patience with me and I will pay theeyou |
| 18:30 |
AndHe herefused wouldand not: but went and castput him intoin prison till he should pay thatthe whichdebt was due |
| 18:31 |
SoWhen when his fellow servants saw what washad donetaken place they were exceedinggreatly sorrydistressed and camethey went and toldreported untoto their lord all that washad donetaken place |
| 18:32 |
Then his lord calledsummoned him unto him and saithsaid to him ThouYou wicked servant I forgave theeyou all that debt because thouyou besoughtestbesought me:; |
| 18:33 |
shouldestand should not thouyou also have had mercy on thyyour fellow servant even as I had mercy on theeyou |
| 18:34 |
And in anger his lord was wroth and delivered him to the tormentorsjailers till he should pay all thathis wasdebt due |
| 18:35 |
So shall also my heavenly Father will do untoto every one of you if yeyou forgivedo not everyforgive oneyour his brother from your heartsheart |
| 19:1 |
AndNow it came to pass when Jesus had finished these wordssayings he departedwent away from Galilee and cameentered into the bordersregion of JudaeaJudea beyond the Jordan; |
| 19:2 |
and greatlarge multitudescrowds followed him; and he healed them there |
| 19:3 |
And therePharisees came untoup to him Phariseesand tryingtested him andby sayingasking Is it lawful for a man to putdivorce awayones his wife for everyany cause |
| 19:4 |
AndHe he answered and said Have yeyou not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female |
| 19:5 |
and said For this causereason shall a man shall leave his father and mother and shallbe cleavejoined to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh |
| 19:6 |
So that they are no morelonger two but one flesh What therefore God hathhas joined together let not man put asunder |
| 19:7 |
They saysaid untoto him Why then did Moses command one to give a billcertificate of divorcementdivorce and to put her away |
| 19:8 |
He saithsaid untoto them MosesFor for your hardness of heart sufferedMoses allowed you to putdivorce away your wives: but from the beginning it hathwas not been so |
| 19:9 |
And I say untoto you: Whosoeverwhoever shalldivorces put away his wife except for fornicationunchastity and shallmarries marry another committethcommits adultery: and he that marrieth her when she is put away committeth adultery |
| 19:10 |
The disciples saysaid untoto him If such is the case of thea man is so with his wife it is not expedient to marry |
| 19:11 |
But he said untoto them Not all men can receive this saying but theyonly those to whom it is given |
| 19:12 |
For there are eunuchs thatwho werehave been so born from theirbirth mothers womb: and there are eunuchs thatwho werehave been made eunuchs by men: and there are eunuchs thatwho have made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heavensheaven sake He thatwho is able to receive itthis let him receive it |
| 19:13 |
Then children were there brought untoto him little children that he shouldmight lay his hands on them and pray: andThe the disciples rebuked themthe people; |
| 19:14 |
Butbut Jesus said SufferLet the little children andcome forbidto themme notand todo comenot untohinder me:them; for to such belongethbelongs the kingdom of heaven |
| 19:15 |
And he laid his hands on them and departedwent thenceaway |
| 19:16 |
And behold one came up to him andsaying said Teacher what good thingdeed shallmust I do thatto I may have eternal life |
| 19:17 |
And he said untoto him Why askestdo thouyou ask me concerningabout thatwhat which is good One there is who is good: butIf ifyou thouwould wouldest enter into life keep the commandments |
| 19:18 |
He saithsaid untoto him Which And Jesus said ThouYou shaltshall not kill ThouYou shaltshall not commit adultery ThouYou shaltshall not steal ThouYou shaltshall not bear false witness |
| 19:19 |
Honor thyyour father and thy mother; and ThouYou shaltshall love thyyour neighbor as thyselfyourself |
| 19:20 |
The young man saithsaid untoto him All these thingsI have I observed:; what lackdo I yetstill lack |
| 19:21 |
Jesus said untoto him If thouyou wouldestwould be perfect go sell thatwhat whichyou thoupossess hast and give to the poor and thouyou shaltwill have treasure in heaven:; and come follow me |
| 19:22 |
ButWhen when the young man heard thethis saying he went away sorrowful; for he was one that had great possessions |
| 19:23 |
And Jesus said untoto his disciples VerilyTruly I say untoto you Itit iswill be hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven |
| 19:24 |
AndAgain again I saytell unto you Itit is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needlesneedle eye than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God |
| 19:25 |
AndWhen when the disciples heard itthis they were greatly astonished exceedingly saying Who then can be saved |
| 19:26 |
AndBut Jesus lookinglooked uponat them and said to them With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible |
| 19:27 |
Then answered Peter and said untoin himreply Lo we have left alleverything and followed thee;you whatWhat then shall we have |
| 19:28 |
And Jesus said untoto them VerilyTruly I say untoto you that ye who have followed me in the regenerationnew world when the Son of man shall sit on thehis glorious throne ofyou hiswho gloryhave yefollowed me will also shall sit uponon twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel |
| 19:29 |
And every one thatwho hathhas left houses or brethrenbrothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands for my names sake shallwill receive a hundredfold and shall inherit eternal life |
| 19:30 |
But many shall be last that are first; andwill firstbe thatlast areand the last first |
| 20:1 |
For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that was a householder who went out early in the morning to hire laborers intofor his vineyard |
| 20:2 |
AndAfter whenagreeing he had agreed with the laborers for a shillingdenarius a day he sent them into his vineyard |
| 20:3 |
And hegoing went out about the third hour andhe saw others standing idle in the marketplacemarket idleplace; |
| 20:4 |
and to them he said GoYou yego also into the vineyard too and whatsoeverwhatever is right I will give you AndSo they went their way |
| 20:5 |
AgainGoing heout wentagain out about the sixth hour and the ninth hour andhe did likewisethe same |
| 20:6 |
And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing; and he saithsaid untoto them Why do you stand ye here idle all the day idle |
| 20:7 |
They saysaid untoto him Because no manone hathhas hired us He saithsaid untoto them GoYou yego also into the vineyard too |
| 20:8 |
And when evenevening wascame come the lordowner of the vineyard saithsaid untoto his steward Call the laborers and pay them their hirewages beginning fromwith the last untoup to the first |
| 20:9 |
And when theythose came that were hired about the eleventh hour theycame receivedeach everyof manthem received a shillingdenarius |
| 20:10 |
AndNow when the first came they supposedthought that they would receive more; andbut theyeach likewiseof receivedthem everyalso manreceived a shillingdenarius |
| 20:11 |
And whenon theyreceiving received it they murmuredgrumbled againstat the householder |
| 20:12 |
saying These last haveworked spentonly but one hour and thouyou hasthave made them equal untoto us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat |
| 20:13 |
But he answeredreplied and said to one of them Friend I doam theedoing you no wrong:; didstdid you not thou agree with me for a shillingdenarius |
| 20:14 |
Take upwhat thatbelongs whichto isyou thine and go thy way; itI ischoose my will to give untoto this last even as untoI theegive to you |
| 20:15 |
IsAm itI not lawfulallowed for me to do what I willchoose with minewhat ownbelongs orto isme thineOr eyedo evilyou becausebegrudge Imy amgenerosity good |
| 20:16 |
So the last shallwill be first and the first last |
| 20:17 |
And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem he took the twelve disciples apartaside and on the way he said untoto them |
| 20:18 |
Behold we goare going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shallwill be delivered untoto the chief priests and scribes; and they shallwill condemn him to death |
| 20:19 |
and shall deliver him untoto the Gentiles to mockbe mocked and toscourged scourge and tocrucified crucify: and the third day he shallwill be raised upon the third day |
| 20:20 |
Then came to him the mother of the sons of ZebedeeZeb′edee came up to him with her sons worshipping him and askingkneeling abefore certainhim thingshe ofasked him for something |
| 20:21 |
And he said untoto her What wouldestdo thouyou want She saithsaid untoto him Command that these my two sons of mine may sit one onat thyyour right hand and one onat thyyour left hand in thyyour kingdom |
| 20:22 |
But Jesus answered andYou saiddo Yenot know not what yeyou askare asking Are yeyou able to drink the cup that I am about to drink They saysaid untoto him We are able |
| 20:23 |
He saithsaid untoto them MyYou cupwill indeeddrink yemy shallcup drink: but to sit onat my right hand and onat my left hand is not mine to give;grant but it is for themthose for whom it hathhas been prepared ofby my Father |
| 20:24 |
And when the ten heard it they were movedindignant withat indignation concerning the two brethrenbrothers |
| 20:25 |
But Jesus called them untoto him and said YeYou know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them and their great onesmen exercise authority over them |
| 20:26 |
NotIt so shall itnot be so among you:; but whosoeverwhoever would becomebe great among you shallmust be your minister;servant |
| 20:27 |
and whosoeverwhoever would be first among you shallmust be your servant:slave; |
| 20:28 |
even as the Son of man came not to be ministeredserved unto but to ministerserve and to give his life as a ransom for many |
| 20:29 |
And as they went out fromof Jericho a great multitudecrowd followed him |
| 20:30 |
And behold two blind men sitting by the wayroadside side when they heard that Jesus was passing by cried out sayingHave Lord have mercy on us thouSon son of David |
| 20:31 |
AndThe thecrowd multitude rebuked them thattelling theythem shouldto holdbe theirsilent; peace: but they cried out the more saying Lord have mercy on us thouSon son of David |
| 20:32 |
And Jesus stoodstopped still and called them andsaying said What willdo yeyou thatwant Ime shouldto do untofor you |
| 20:33 |
They saysaid untoto him Lord thatlet our eyes may be opened |
| 20:34 |
And Jesus beingin movedpity with compassion touched their eyes; and straightwayimmediately they received their sight and followed him |
| 21:1 |
And when they drew nighnear untoto Jerusalem and came untoto BethphageBeth′phage untoto the mountMount of Olives then Jesus sent two disciples |
| 21:2 |
saying untoto them Go into the village thatopposite is over against you and straightwayimmediately yeyou shallwill find an ass tied and a colt with her:; looseuntie them and bring them untoto me |
| 21:3 |
AndIf if any one saysays aughtanything untoto you yeyou shall say The Lord hathhas need of them; and straightway he will send them immediately |
| 21:4 |
NowThis thistook isplace come to passfulfil thatwhat it might be fulfilled which was spoken throughby the prophet saying |
| 21:5 |
Tell ye the daughter of Zion Behold thyyour Kingking comethis untocoming theeto Meekyou humble and ridingmounted uponon an ass Andand uponon a colt the foal of an ass |
| 21:6 |
AndThe the disciples went and did even as Jesus appointedhad directed them; |
| 21:7 |
andthey brought the ass and the colt and put their garments on them their garments; and he sat thereon |
| 21:8 |
AndMost the most part of the multitudecrowd spread their garments inon the way;road and others cut branches from the trees and spread them inon the wayroad |
| 21:9 |
And the multitudescrowds that went before him and that followed criedhim sayingshouted Hosanna to the sonSon of David: Blessed is he thatwho comethcomes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest |
| 21:10 |
And when he wasentered come into Jerusalem all the city was stirred saying Who is this |
| 21:11 |
And the multitudescrowds said This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee |
| 21:12 |
And Jesus entered into the temple of God and castdrove out all themwho that sold and bought in the temple and overthrewhe overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of themthose thatwho sold thepigeons doves; |
| 21:13 |
andHe hesaid saithto unto them It is written My house shall be called a house of prayer:; but yeyou make it a den of robbers |
| 21:14 |
And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them |
| 21:15 |
But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did and the children thatcrying wereout crying in the temple and saying Hosanna to the sonSon of David; they were movedindignant; with indignation |
| 21:16 |
and they said untoto him HearestDo thouyou hear what these are saying And Jesus saithsaid untoto them Yea:Yes; didhave yeyou never read Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfectedbrought perfect praise |
| 21:17 |
And heleaving left them andhe went forth out of the city to Bethany and lodged there |
| 21:18 |
NowIn in the morning as he returnedwas returning to the city he hungeredwas hungry |
| 21:19 |
And seeing a fig tree by the waywayside side he camewent to it and found nothing thereonon it but leaves only; andAnd he saithsaid untoto it LetMay there be no fruit fromever theecome henceforwardfrom foryou everagain And immediately the fig tree withered awayat once |
| 21:20 |
AndWhen when the disciples saw it they marvelledmarveled saying How did the fig tree immediately wither awayat once |
| 21:21 |
And Jesus answered and said unto them VerilyTruly I say untoto you Ifif yeyou have faith and never doubt notyou yewill shall not only do what ishas been done to the fig tree but even if yeyou shall say untoto this mountain Be thou taken up and cast into the sea it shallwill be done |
| 21:22 |
And allwhatever thingsyou whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer believingyou yewill shallreceive receiveif you have faith |
| 21:23 |
And when he wasentered come into the temple the chief priests and the elders of the people came untoup to him as he was teaching and said By what authority doestare thouyou doing these things and who gave theeyou this authority |
| 21:24 |
And Jesus answered and said unto them I also will ask you onea question; whichand if yeyou tell me the answer then I likewisealso will tell you by what authority I do these things |
| 21:25 |
The baptism of John whence was it fromFrom heaven or from men And they reasonedargued with themselvesone sayinganother If we shall say From heaven; he will say untoto us Why then did yeyou not believe him |
| 21:26 |
But if we shall say From men; we fearare afraid of the multitude; for all hold that John aswas a prophet |
| 21:27 |
AndSo they answered Jesus andWe saiddo Wenot know notAnd Hehe also said untoto them Neither tellwill I tell you by what authority I do these things |
| 21:28 |
ButWhat whatdo you think ye A man had two sons; and he camewent to the first and said Son go and work to day in the vineyard today |
| 21:29 |
And he answered and said I will not:; but afterward he repented himself and went |
| 21:30 |
And he camewent to the second and said likewisethe Andsame; and he answered and said I go sir: andbut wentdid not go |
| 21:31 |
Which of the two did the will of his father They saysaid The first Jesus saithsaid untoto them VerilyTruly I say untoto you that the publicanstax collectors and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you |
| 21:32 |
For John came untoto you in the way of righteousness and yeyou believeddid not believe him not; but the publicanstax collectors and the harlots believed him:; and yeeven when yeyou saw it you did not evenafterward repent yourselvesand afterward that ye might believe him |
| 21:33 |
Hear another parable: There was a man that was a householder who planted a vineyard and set a hedge aboutaround it and diggeddug a winepresswine press in it and built a tower and let it out to husbandmentenants and went into another country |
| 21:34 |
AndWhen when the season of thefruit fruits drew near he sent his servants to the husbandmentenants to receiveget his fruitsfruit; |
| 21:35 |
Andand the husbandmentenants took his servants and beat one and killed another and stoned another |
| 21:36 |
Again he sent other servants more than the first:; and they did untothe themsame into likethem manner |
| 21:37 |
ButAfterward afterward he sent unto them his son to them saying They will reverencerespect my son |
| 21:38 |
But when the husbandmentenants when they saw the son they said amongto themselves This is the heir; come let us kill him and takehave his inheritance |
| 21:39 |
And they took him and cast him forth out of the vineyard and killed him |
| 21:40 |
When therefore the lordowner of the vineyard shallcomes come what will he do untoto those husbandmentenants |
| 21:41 |
They saysaid untoto him He will miserablyput destroy those wretches to a miserable mendeath and will let out the vineyard untoto other husbandmentenants who shallwill rendergive him the fruits in their seasons |
| 21:42 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto them DidHave yeyou never read in the scriptures: The very stone which the builders rejected Thehas samebecome was made the head of the corner; Thisthis was from the LordLords Anddoing and it is marvellousmarvelous in our eyes |
| 21:43 |
Therefore say I untotell you Thethe kingdom of God shallwill be taken away from you and shall be given to a nation bringingproducing forth the fruits thereofof it |
| 21:44 |
And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall it will scatter him as dust |
| 21:45 |
AndWhen when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables they perceived that he spakewas ofspeaking about them |
| 21:46 |
AndBut when they soughttried to layarrest hold on him they feared the multitudes because they tookheld him forto be a prophet |
| 22:1 |
And again Jesus answeredspoke andto spakethem again in parables unto them saying |
| 22:2 |
The kingdom of heaven ismay likenedbe untocompared to a certain king who madegave a marriage feast for his son |
| 22:3 |
and sent forth his servants to call themthose thatwho were biddeninvited to the marriage feast:; andbut they would not come |
| 22:4 |
Again he sent forth other servants saying Tell themthose thatwho are biddeninvited Behold I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlingsfat calves are killed and alleverything thingsis are ready:; come to the marriage feast |
| 22:5 |
But they made light of it and went theiroff ways one to his own farm another to his merchandise;business |
| 22:6 |
andwhile the rest laidseized hold on his servants and treated them shamefully and killed them |
| 22:7 |
ButThe the king was wroth;angry and he sent his armiestroops and destroyed those murderers and burned their city |
| 22:8 |
Then saith he said to his servants The wedding is ready but theythose thatinvited were bidden were not worthy |
| 22:9 |
Go ye therefore untoto the partingsthoroughfares ofand invite to the highwaysmarriage andfeast as many as yeyou shall find bid to the marriage feast |
| 22:10 |
And those servants went out into the highwaysstreets and gathered together all aswhom many as they found both bad and good:; andso the wedding hall was filled with guests |
| 22:11 |
But when the king came in to beholdlook at the guests he saw there a man who had notno on a wedding garment:; |
| 22:12 |
and he saithsaid untoto him Friend how camestdid thouyou get in hitherhere notwithout having a wedding garment And he was speechless |
| 22:13 |
Then the king said to the servantsattendants Bind him hand and foot and cast him out into the outer darkness; there shallmen bewill theweep weeping and thegnash gnashingtheir of teeth |
| 22:14 |
For many are called but few are chosen |
| 22:15 |
Then went the Pharisees went and took counsel how theyto mightentangle ensnare him in his talk |
| 22:16 |
And they sendsent their disciples to him theiralong disciples with the HerodiansHero′di ans saying Teacher we know that thouyou artare true and teachestteach the way of God intruthfully truth and carestcare not for anyno one:man; for thouyou regardestdo not regard the personposition of men |
| 22:17 |
Tell us thereforethen Whatwhat thinkestyou thouthink Is it lawful to givepay tributetaxes untoto Caesar or not |
| 22:18 |
But Jesus perceivedaware of their wickednessmalice and said Why makeput yeme trialto ofthe metest yeyou hypocrites |
| 22:19 |
Show me the tribute money for the tax And they brought unto him a denariuscoin |
| 22:20 |
And heJesus saithsaid untoto them Whose islikeness thisand imageinscription andis superscriptionthis |
| 22:21 |
They saysaid unto him Caesars Then saith he untosaid to them Render therefore untoto Caesar the things that are Caesars; and untoto God the things that are Gods |
| 22:22 |
AndWhen when they heard it they marvelledmarveled; and they left him and went away |
| 22:23 |
OnThe thatsame day thereSad′ducees came to him Sadduceeswho they that say that there is no resurrection:; and they asked him a question |
| 22:24 |
saying Teacher Moses said If a man diedies having no children his brother shallmust marry histhe wifewidow and raise up seedchildren untofor his brother |
| 22:25 |
Now there were withseven usbrothers sevenamong brethren:us; and the first married and deceaseddied and having no seedchildren left his wife untoto his brother; |
| 22:26 |
inSo liketoo manner the second also and the third untodown to the seventh |
| 22:27 |
AndAfter after them all the woman died |
| 22:28 |
In the resurrection therefore whoseto wifewhich shallof the seven will she be ofwife theFor seven for they all had her |
| 22:29 |
But Jesus answered andthem saidYou untoare themwrong Yebecause doyou errknow notneither knowing the scriptures nor the power of God |
| 22:30 |
For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage but are aslike angels in heaven |
| 22:31 |
ButAnd as touchingfor the resurrection of the dead have yeyou not read thatwhat which was spokensaid untoto you by God saying |
| 22:32 |
I am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob GodHe is not the God of the dead but of the living |
| 22:33 |
And when the multitudescrowd heard it they were astonished at his teaching |
| 22:34 |
But when the Pharisees when they heard that he had putsilenced the SadduceesSad′ducees tothey silencecame gathered themselves together |
| 22:35 |
And one of them a lawyer asked him a question tryingto test him: |
| 22:37 |
And he said untoto him ThouYou shaltshall love the Lord thyyour God with all thyyour heart and with all thyyour soul and with all thyyour mind |
| 22:39 |
And a second is like unto it isYou thisshall Thou shalt love thyyour neighbor as thyselfyourself |
| 22:40 |
On these two commandments depend all the whole law hangeth and the prophets |
| 22:42 |
saying What do you think ye of the Christ whoseWhose son is he They saysaid untoto him The son of David |
| 22:43 |
He saithsaid untoto them How is it then doththat David ininspired by the Spirit callcalls him Lord saying |
| 22:44 |
The Lord said untoto my Lord Sit thouat on my right hand Tilltill I put thinethy enemies underneathunder thy feet |
| 22:45 |
If David thenthus callethcalls him Lord how is he his son |
| 22:46 |
And no one was able to answer him a word neithernor durst any man from that day forthdid any one dare to ask him any more questions |
| 23:1 |
Then spakesaid Jesus to the multitudescrowds and to his disciples |
| 23:2 |

| 23:5 |
ButThey do all their worksdeeds they do to be seen ofby men:; for they make broad their phylacteries broad and enlargetheir thefringes borderslong of their garments |
| 23:6 |
and they love the chief place of honor at feasts and the chiefbest seats in the synagogues |
| 23:7 |

| 23:8 |
But beyou are not yeto be called Rabbi:rabbi for oneyou ishave yourone teacher and allyou ye are all brethren |
| 23:9 |
And call no man your father on the earth: for oneyou ishave yourone Father even he who is in heaven |
| 23:10 |
Neither be ye called masters: for oneyou ishave yourone master even the Christ |
| 23:11 |
ButHe hewho that is greatest among you shall be your servant; |
| 23:12 |
Andwhoever whosoeverexalts shall exalt himself shallwill be humbled; and whosoeverwhoever shallhumbles humble himself shallwill be exalted |
| 23:13 |
But woe untoto you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites because yeyou shut the kingdom of heaven against men:; for yeyou neither enter notyourselves innor yourselvesallow neitherthose sufferwho yewould thementer thatto arego entering in to enter |
| 23:15 |
Woe untoto you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites for yeyou compasstraverse sea and land to make onea single proselyte; and when he isbecomes becomea soproselyte yeyou make him twofoldtwice moreas much a sonchild of hell thanas yourselves |
| 23:16 |
Woe untoto you ye blind guides thatwho say WhosoeverIf shallany swearone swears by the temple it is nothing; but whosoeverif shallany swearone swears by the gold of the temple he is abound debtorby his oath |
| 23:17 |
YeYou blind fools andFor blind: for which is greater the gold or the temple that hathhas sanctifiedmade the gold sacred |

HeSo thereforehe thatwho swearethswears by the altar swearethswears by it and by alleverything thingson thereonit; |
| 23:21 |
Andand he thatwho swearethswears by the temple swearethswears by it and by him thatwho dwellethdwells thereinin it; |
| 23:22 |
Andand he thatwho swearethswears by the heaven swearethswears by the throne of God and by him thatwho sittethsits thereonupon it |
| 23:23 |
Woe untoto you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites for yeyou tithe mint and anisedill and cummin and have leftneglected undone the weightier matters of the law justice and mercy and faith:; but these yeyou ought to have done andwithout notneglecting to have left the otherothers undone |
| 23:24 |
YeYou blind guides thatstraining strain out thea gnat and swallowswallowing thea camel |
| 23:25 |
Woe untoto you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites for yeyou cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platterplate but withininside they are full fromof extortion and excessrapacity |
| 23:26 |
ThouYou blind Pharisee first cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the platterplate that the outside thereofalso may becomebe clean also |
| 23:27 |
Woe untoto you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites for yeyou are like untowhitewashed whitedtombs sepulchres which outwardly appear beautiful but inwardlywithin they are full of dead mens bones and of all uncleanness |
| 23:28 |
EvenSo soyou ye also outwardly appear righteous untoto men but inwardlywithin yeyou are full of hypocrisy and iniquity |
| 23:29 |
Woe untoto you scribes and Pharisees hypocrites for yeyou build the sepulchrestombs of the prophets and garnishadorn the tombsmonuments of the righteous |
| 23:30 |
andsaying say If we had beenlived in the days of our fathers we shouldwould not have beentaken partakerspart with them in shedding the blood of the prophets |
| 23:31 |
WhereforeThus yeyou witness toagainst yourselves that yeyou are sons of themthose thatwho slewmurdered the prophets |
| 23:32 |
Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers |
| 23:33 |
YeYou serpents yeyou offspringbrood of vipers how shallare yeyou to escape thebeing judgmentsentenced ofto hell |
| 23:34 |
Therefore behold I send unto you prophets and wise men and scribes: some of themwhom shallyou yewill kill and crucify; and some ofyou themwill shall ye scourge in your synagogues and persecute from citytown to city:town |
| 23:35 |
that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth from the blood of innocent Abel theto righteous unto the blood of ZachariahZechari′ah the son of BarachiahBarachi′ah whom yeyou slewmurdered between the sanctuary and the altar |
| 23:36 |
VerilyTruly I say untoto you Allall thesethis thingswill shall come upon this generation |
| 23:37 |
O Jerusalem Jerusalem thatkilling killeth the prophets and stonethstoning themthose thatwho are sent untoto heryou howHow often would I have gathered thyyour children together even as a hen gatherethgathers her chickensbrood under her wings and yeyou would not |
| 23:38 |
Behold your house is leftforsaken untoand you desolate |
| 23:39 |
For I saytell untoyou you Yewill shall not see me henceforthagain tilluntil yeyou shall say Blessed is he thatwho comethcomes in the name of the Lord |
| 24:1 |
And Jesus wentleft out from the temple and was going onaway hiswhen way; and his disciples came to himpoint out to show him the buildings of the temple |
| 24:2 |
But he answered and said unto them SeeYou yesee not all these thingsdo verilyyou not Truly I say untoto you Therethere shallwill not be left here one stone upon another that shallwill not be thrown down |
| 24:3 |
AndAs as he sat on the mountMount of Olives the disciples came untoto him privately saying Tell us when shallwill thesethis things be and what shallwill be the sign of thyyour coming and of the endclose of the worldage |
| 24:4 |
And Jesus answered and said unto them Take heed that no manone leadleads you astray |
| 24:5 |
For many shallwill come in my name saying I am the Christ; and shallthey will lead many astray |
| 24:6 |
And yeyou shallwill hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that yeyou beare not troubled:alarmed; for thesethis things must needstake comeplace to pass; but the end is not yet |
| 24:7 |
For nation shallwill rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom; and there shallwill be famines and earthquakes in diversvarious places: |
| 24:8 |
But all thesethis thingsis arebut the beginning of travailthe birth pangs |
| 24:9 |
Then shall they will deliver you up untoto tribulation and shallput kill you: to death; and yeyou shallwill be hated ofby all the nations for my names sake |
| 24:10 |
And then shall many stumblewill andfall shallaway deliverand upbetray one another and shall hate one another |
| 24:11 |
And many false prophets shallwill arise and shall lead many astray |
| 24:12 |
And because iniquitywickedness shallis be multiplied themost mens love ofwill thegrow many shall wax cold |
| 24:13 |
But he thatwho endurethendures to the end thewill same shall be saved |
| 24:14 |
And this gospel of the kingdom shallwill be preached inthroughout the whole world foras a testimony untoto all the nations; and then shall the end will come |
| 24:15 |
WhenSo thereforewhen yeyou see the abominationdesolating ofsacrilege desolation which was spoken of throughby Daniel the prophet Daniel standing in the holy place let himthe thatreader readeth understand |
| 24:16 |
then let themthose thatwho are in JudaeaJudea flee untoto the mountains:; |
| 24:17 |
let him thatwho is on the housetop not go down to take outwhat theis things that are in his house:; |
| 24:18 |
and let him thatwho is in the field not returnturn back to take his cloakmantle |
| 24:19 |
ButAnd woealas untofor themthose thatwho are with child and tofor themthose thatwho give suck in those days |
| 24:20 |
AndPray pray ye that your flight bemay not be in the winter neitheror on a sabbath: |
| 24:21 |
forFor then shallthere will be great tribulation such as hathhas not been from the beginning of the world until now no norand evernever shallwill be |
| 24:22 |
And exceptif those days had not been shortened no fleshhuman being would havebe been saved:; but for the elects sake of the elect those days shallwill be shortened |
| 24:23 |
Then if any manone shallsays sayto unto you Lo here is the Christ or Here; There he is do not believe it not |
| 24:24 |
For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets will arise and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to lead astray if possible even the elect |
| 24:25 |
BeholdLo I have told you beforehand |
| 24:26 |
IfSo thereforeif they shall say untoto you BeholdLo he is in the wilderness; godo not forth:go Beholdout; if they say Lo he is in the inner chambers;rooms do not believe it not |
| 24:27 |
For as the lightning comethcomes forth from the east and isshines seenas evenfar untoas the west; so shallwill be the coming of the Son of man |
| 24:28 |
WheresoeverWherever the carcasebody is there will the eagles will be gathered together |
| 24:29 |
ButImmediately immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shallwill be darkened and the moon shallwill not give herits light and the stars shallwill fall from heaven and the powers of the heavens shallwill be shaken:; |
| 24:30 |
and then shallwill appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth will mourn and they shallwill see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory; |
| 24:31 |
Andand he shallwill send forthout his angels with a greatloud soundtrumpet ofcall a trumpet and they shallwill gather together his elect from the four winds from one end of heaven to the other |
| 24:32 |
NowFrom from the fig tree learn herits parablelesson: whenas hersoon branchas isits nowbranch becomebecomes tender and puttethputs forth its leaves yeyou know that the summer is nigh;near |
| 24:33 |
evenSo so ye also when yeyou see all these things you know ye that he is nighnear even at the doorsvery gates |
| 24:34 |
VerilyTruly I say untoto you Thisthis generation shallwill not pass away till all these things betake accomplishedplace |
| 24:35 |
Heaven and earth shallwill pass away but my words shallwill not pass away |
| 24:36 |
But of that day and hour knoweth no one knows not even the angels of heaven neithernor the Son but the Father only |
| 24:37 |
AndAs as were the days of Noah so shallwill be the coming of the Son of man |
| 24:38 |
For as in those days which were before the flood they were eating and drinking marrying and giving in marriage until the day thatwhen Noah entered into the ark |
| 24:39 |
and they knewdid not know until the flood came and tookswept them all away; so shallwill be the coming of the Son of man |
| 24:40 |
Then shall two men will be in the field; one is taken and one is left: |
| 24:41 |
twoTwo women shallwill be grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left |
| 24:42 |
Watch therefore: for yeyou knowdo not know on what day your Lord comethis coming |
| 24:43 |
But know this that if the masterhouseholder of the house had known in what watchpart of the night the thief was coming he would have watched and would not have sufferedlet his house to be broken throughinto |
| 24:44 |
Therefore beyou ye also must be ready; for inthe anSon hourof thatman yeis thinkcoming notat thean Sonhour ofyou mando comethnot expect |
| 24:45 |
Who then is the faithful and wise servant whom his lordmaster hathhas set over his household to give them their food inat duethe seasonproper time |
| 24:46 |
Blessed is that servant whom his lordmaster when he comethcomes shallwill find so doing |
| 24:47 |
VerilyTruly I say untoto you that he will set him over all thathis hepossessions hath |
| 24:48 |
But if that evilwicked servant shallsays sayto inhimself hisMy heartmaster Myis lorddelayed tarrieth; |
| 24:49 |
and shallbegins begin to beat his fellow servants and shalleats eat and drinkdrinks with the drunken; |
| 24:50 |
the lordmaster of that servant shallwill come inon a day when he expectethdoes not expect him and inat an hour when he knowethdoes not know |
| 24:51 |
and shallwill cutpunish him asunder and appointput hishim portion with the hypocrites:; there shallmen bewill theweep weeping and thegnash gnashingtheir of teeth |
| 25:1 |
Then shall the kingdom of heaven shall be likenedcompared untoto ten virginsmaidens who took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom |
| 25:2 |
AndFive five of them were foolish and five were wise |
| 25:3 |
For when the foolish when they took their lamps they took no oil with them:; |
| 25:4 |
but the wise took oilflasks inof theiroil vessels with their lamps |
| 25:5 |
NowAs while the bridegroom tarriedwas delayed they all slumbered and slept |
| 25:6 |
But at midnight there iswas a cry Behold the bridegroom Come yeout forth to meet him |
| 25:7 |
Then all those virginsmaidens aroserose and trimmed their lamps |
| 25:8 |
And the foolish said untoto the wise Give us some of your oil; for our lamps are going out |
| 25:9 |
But the wise answeredreplied sayingPerhaps Peradventure there will not be enough for us and for you:; go ye rather to themthe thatdealers sell and buy for yourselves |
| 25:10 |
And while they went away to buy the bridegroom came; and theythose thatwho were ready went in with him to the marriage feast:; and the door was shut |
| 25:11 |
Afterward came also the other virginsmaidens came also saying Lord Lordlord open to us |
| 25:12 |
But he answeredreplied andTruly said Verily I say untoto you I do not know you not |
| 25:13 |
Watch therefore for yeyou know notneither the day nor the hour |
| 25:14 |
For it iswill be as when a man going intoon anothera countryjourney called his own servants and deliveredentrusted untoto them his goodsproperty; |
| 25:15 |
Andto unto one he gave five talents to another two to another one; to each according to his several ability; andThen he went onaway his journey |
| 25:16 |
StraightwayHe hewho thathad received the five talents went at once and traded with them; and he made other five talents more |
| 25:17 |
InSo likealso manner he alsowho thathad received the two gainedtalents othermade two talents more |
| 25:18 |
But he thatwho had received the one talent went away and diggeddug in the earthground and hid his lordsmasters money |
| 25:19 |
Now after a long time the lordmaster of those servants comethcame and makethsettled aaccounts reckoning with them |
| 25:20 |
And he thatwho had received the five talents came andforward broughtbringing other five talents more saying LordMaster thouyou deliveredstdelivered untoto me five talents:; lohere I have gainedmade other five talents more |
| 25:21 |
His lordmaster said untoto him Well done good and faithful servant:; thouyou hasthave been faithful over a fewlittle things I will set theeyou over many thingsmuch; enter thou into the joy of thyyour lordmaster |
| 25:22 |
And he also thatwho receivedhad the two talents came andforward saidsaying LordMaster thouyou deliveredstdelivered untoto me two talents:; lohere I have gainedmade other two talents more |
| 25:23 |
His lordmaster said untoto him Well done good and faithful servant:; thouyou hasthave been faithful over a fewlittle things I will set theeyou over many thingsmuch; enter thou into the joy of thyyour lordmaster |
| 25:24 |
AndHe he also thatwho had received the one talent came andforward saidsaying LordMaster I knew theeyou thatto thoube art a hard man reaping where thouyou didstdid not sow and gathering where thouyou didstdid not scatterwinnow; |
| 25:25 |
andso I was afraid and I went away and hid thyyour talent in the earth:ground loHere thouyou hasthave thinewhat ownis yours |
| 25:26 |
But his lordmaster answered and said unto him ThouYou wicked and slothful servant thouYou knewestknew that I reap where I sowedhave not sowed and gather where I didhave not scatter;winnowed |
| 25:27 |
thouThen oughtestyou thereforeought to have putinvested my money towith the bankers and at my coming I should have received backwhat minewas my own with interest |
| 25:28 |
TakeSo yetake away therefore the talent from him and give it untoto him thatwho hathhas the ten talents |
| 25:29 |
For untoto every one thatwho hathhas shallwill more be given and he shallwill have abundance:; but from him thatwho hathhas not even thatwhat which he hathhas shallwill be taken away |
| 25:30 |
And cast ye out the unprofitableworthless servant into the outer darkness:; there shallmen bewill theweep weeping and thegnash gnashingtheir of teeth |
| 25:31 |
ButWhen when the Son of man shallcomes come in his glory and all the angels with him then shall he will sit on thehis glorious throne of his glory: |
| 25:32 |
andBefore before him shallwill be gathered all the nations: and he shallwill separate them one from another as thea shepherd separatethseparates the sheep from the goats; |
| 25:33 |
and he shallwill setplace the sheep onat his right hand but the goats onat the left |
| 25:34 |
Then shall the King will say untoto themthose onat his right hand Come yeO blessed of my Father inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:; |
| 25:35 |
for I was hungry and yeyou gave me tofood eat; I was thirsty and yeyou gave me drink; I was a stranger and yeyou tookwelcomed me in; |
| 25:36 |
I was naked and yeyou clothed me; I was sick and yeyou visited me; I was in prison and yeyou came untoto me |
| 25:37 |
Then shall the righteous will answer him saying Lord when sawdid we see thee hungry and fedfeed thee or athirstthirsty and gavegive thee drink |
| 25:38 |
And when sawdid we see thee a stranger and tookwelcome thee in or naked and clothedclothe thee |
| 25:39 |
And when sawdid we see thee sick or in prison and camevisit unto thee |
| 25:40 |
And the King shallwill answer and say unto them VerilyTruly I say untoto you Inasmuch as yeyou did it untoto one of the least of these my brethren evenyou these least ye did it untoto me |
| 25:41 |
Then shall he will say alsoto untothose themat onhis the left hand Depart from me yeyou cursed into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels:; |
| 25:42 |
for I was hungry and yeyou didgave not give me tono eat;food I was thirsty and yeyou gave me no drink; |
| 25:43 |
I was a stranger and yeyou tookdid me not in;welcome me naked and yeyou clotheddid not clothe me not; sick and in prison and yeyou visiteddid not visit me not |
| 25:44 |
Then shall they also will answer saying Lord when sawdid we see thee hungry or athirstthirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not minister untoto thee |
| 25:45 |
Then shall he will answer them sayingTruly Verily I say untoto you Inasmuch as yeyou did it not untoto one of thesethe least yeof these you did it not untoto me |
| 25:46 |
And thesethey shallwill go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life |
| 26:1 |
AndWhen it came to pass when Jesus had finished all these wordssayings he said untoto his disciples |
| 26:2 |
YeYou know that after two days the passoverPassover comethis coming and the Son of man iswill be delivered up to be crucified |
| 26:3 |
Then were gathered together the chief priests and the elders of the people untogathered in the courtpalace of the high priest who was called Caiaphas;Ca′iaphas |
| 26:4 |
and they took counsel together thatin theyorder mightto takearrest Jesus by subtletystealth and kill him |
| 26:5 |
But they said Not during the feast lest there be a tumult arise among the people |
| 26:6 |
Now when Jesus was inat Bethany in the house of Simon the leper |
| 26:7 |
therea woman came untoup to him awith woman having an alabaster cruseflask of exceedingvery preciousexpensive ointment and she poured it uponon his head as he sat at meattable |
| 26:8 |
But when the disciples saw it they hadwere indignationindignant saying ToWhy what purpose is this waste |
| 26:9 |
For this ointment might have been sold for mucha large sum and given to the poor |
| 26:10 |
But Jesus perceivingaware itof this said untoto them Why do you trouble ye the woman forFor she hathhas wroughtdone a goodbeautiful workthing uponto me |
| 26:11 |
For yeyou always have the poor always with you; but meyou yewill have not always have me |
| 26:12 |
ForIn inpouring that she poured this ointment uponon my body she didhas done it to prepare me for burial |
| 26:13 |
VerilyTruly I say untoto you Wheresoeverwherever this gospel shallis be preached in the whole world thatwhat alsoshe whichhas this woman hath done shallwill be spokentold ofin formemory a memorial of her |
| 26:14 |
Then one of the twelve who was called Judas Iscariot went untoto the chief priests |
| 26:15 |
and said What arewill yeyou willing to give me andif I will deliver him untoto you And they weighedpaid unto him thirty pieces of silver |
| 26:16 |
And from that timemoment he sought an opportunity to deliverbetray him unto them |
| 26:17 |
Now on the first day of unleavenedUnleavened breadBread the disciples came to Jesus saying Where wiltwill thouyou thathave weus makeprepare ready for theeyou to eat the passover |
| 26:18 |
AndHe he said Go into the city to such a mancertain one and say untoto him The Teacher saithsays My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thyyour house with my disciples |
| 26:19 |
And the disciples did as Jesus appointedhad directed them; and they madeprepared ready the passover |
| 26:20 |
NowWhen whenit even was comeevening he wassat sitting at meattable with the twelve disciples; |
| 26:21 |
and as they were eating he said VerilyTruly I say untoto you that one of you shallwill betray me |
| 26:22 |
And they were exceedingvery sorrowful and began to say untoto him every one after another Is it I Lord |
| 26:23 |
AndHe he answered andHe saidwho Hehas that dipped his hand with me in the dish thewith sameme shallwill betray me |
| 26:24 |
The Son of man goethgoes even as it is written of him: but woe untoto that man throughby whom the Son of man is betrayed goodIt werewould ithave been better for that man if he had not been born |
| 26:25 |
And Judas who betrayed him answered and said Is it I RabbiMaster He saithsaid untoto him ThouYou hasthave said so |
| 26:26 |
AndNow as they were eating Jesus took bread and blessed and brakebroke it; and he gave it to the disciples and said Take eat; this is my body |
| 26:27 |
And he took a cup and gavewhen he had given thanks andhe gave it to them saying Drink yeof it all of ityou; |
| 26:28 |
for this is my blood of the covenant which is poured out for many untofor remissionthe forgiveness of sins |
| 26:29 |
But I saytell unto you I shall not drink henceforthagain of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Fathers kingdom |
| 26:30 |
And when they had sung a hymn they went out intoto the mountMount of Olives |
| 26:31 |
Then saith Jesus untosaid to them AllYou yewill shallall befall offendedaway inbecause of me this night:; for it is written I will smitestrike the shepherd and the sheep of the flock shallwill be scattered abroad |
| 26:32 |
But after I am raised up I will go before you intoto Galilee |
| 26:33 |
But Peter answereddeclared andto saidhim untoThough himthey If all shallfall beaway offendedbecause inof theeyou I will never befall offendedaway |
| 26:34 |
Jesus said untoto him VerilyTruly I say untoto theeyou that this very night before the cock crowcrows thouyou shaltwill deny me thricethree times |
| 26:35 |
Peter saithsaid untoto him Even if I must die with theeyou yetI will I not deny theeyou LikewiseAnd alsoso said all the disciples |
| 26:36 |
Then cometh Jesus went with them untoto a place called GethsemaneGethsem′ane and saithhe untosaid to his disciples Sit ye here while I go yonder and pray |
| 26:37 |
And hetaking took with him Peter and the two sons of ZebedeeZeb′edee andhe began to be sorrowful and sore troubled |
| 26:38 |
Then saith he untosaid to them My soul is exceedingvery sorrowful even untoto death:; abideremain ye here and watch with me |
| 26:39 |
And hegoing went forward a little andfarther he fell on his face and prayed saying My Father if it be possible let this cup pass away from me:; nevertheless not as I will but as thou wilt |
| 26:40 |
And he comethcame untoto the disciples and findethfound them sleeping; and saithhe untosaid to Peter WhatSo could yeyou not watch with me one hour |
| 26:41 |
Watch and pray that yeyou entermay not enter into temptation:; the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak |
| 26:42 |
Again afor the second time he went away and prayed saying My Father if this cannot pass awayunless except I drink it thy will be done |
| 26:43 |
And again he came again and found them sleeping for their eyes were heavy |
| 26:44 |
AndSo heleaving left them again andhe went away and prayed afor the third time saying again the same words |
| 26:45 |
Then cometh he came to the disciples and saithsaid untoto them SleepAre onyou nowstill sleeping and taketaking your rest: beholdBehold the hour is at hand and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners |
| 26:46 |
AriseRise let us be going:; beholdsee hemy betrayer is at hand that betrayeth me |
| 26:47 |
AndWhile while he yetwas spakestill lospeaking Judas came one of the twelve came and with him a great multitudecrowd with swords and stavesclubs from the chief priests and the elders of the people |
| 26:48 |
Now hethe thatbetrayer betrayedhad himgiven gave them a sign saying WhomsoeverThe one I shall kiss that is he:the takeman; seize him |
| 26:49 |
And straightway he came up to Jesus at once and said Hail Rabbi;Master andAnd he kissed him |
| 26:50 |
And Jesus said untoto him Friend dowhy thatare foryou whichhere thou art come Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and tookseized him |
| 26:51 |
And behold one of themthose thatwho were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword and smotestruck the servantslave of the high priest and struckcut off his ear |
| 26:52 |
Then saith Jesus untosaid to him Put upyour againsword thyback sword into its place:; for all theywho that take the sword shallwill perish withby the sword |
| 26:53 |
OrDo thinkestyou thouthink that I cannot beseechappeal to my Father and he shallwill evenat nowonce send me more than twelve legions of angels |
| 26:54 |
HowBut how then should the scriptures be fulfilled that thus it must be so |
| 26:55 |
InAt that hour Jesus said Jesus to the multitudescrowds AreHave yeyou come out as against a robber with swords and stavesclubs to seizecapture me Day after day I sat daily in the temple teaching and yeyou tookdid not seize me not |
| 26:56 |
But all this ishas cometaken toplace pass that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled Then all the disciples leftforsook him and fled |
| 26:57 |
AndThen theythose thatwho had takenseized Jesus led him away to theCa′iaphas house of Caiaphas the high priest where the scribes and the elders werehad gathered together |
| 26:58 |
But Peter followed him afarat offa untodistance as far as the courtcourtyard of the high priest and enteredgoing ininside andhe sat with the officersguards to see the end |
| 26:59 |
Now the chief priests and the whole council sought false witnesstestimony against Jesus that they might put him to death; |
| 26:60 |
andbut they found itnone not though many false witnesses came Butforward afterwardAt camelast two came forward |
| 26:61 |
and said This manfellow said I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days |
| 26:62 |
And the high priest stood up and said untoHave himyou Answerestno thouanswer nothingto whatmake What is it whichthat these witnessmen testify against theeyou |
| 26:63 |
But Jesus heldwas hissilent peace And the high priest said untoto him I adjure theeyou by the living God that thou tell us whetherif thouyou artare the Christ the Son of God |
| 26:64 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto him ThouYou hasthave said: neverthelessso But I saytell unto you Henceforthhereafter yeyou shallwill see the Son of man sittingseated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven |
| 26:65 |
Then the high priest renttore his garmentsrobes sayingand said He hathhas spokenuttered blasphemy: whatWhy furtherdo needwe havestill weneed of witnesses beholdYou have now ye have heard thehis blasphemy: |
| 26:66 |
whatWhat thinkis yeyour judgment They answered and said He isdeserves worthy of death |
| 26:67 |
Then did they spitspat in his face and buffetstruck him:; and some smoteslapped him with the palms of their hands |
| 26:68 |
saying Prophesy untoto us thouyou Christ: whoWho is heit that struck theeyou |
| 26:69 |
Now Peter was sitting withoutoutside in the court:courtyard andAnd a maid came untoup to him sayingand Thousaid You also wastwere with Jesus the GalilaeanGalilean |
| 26:70 |
But he denied it before them all saying I knowdo not know what thouyou sayestmean |
| 26:71 |
And when he waswent gone out intoto the porch another maid saw him and saithshe untosaid themto thatthe werebystanders there This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth |
| 26:72 |
And again he denied it with an oath I knowdo not know the man |
| 26:73 |
AndAfter after a little while theythe thatbystanders stoodcame byup came and said to Peter OfCertainly ayou truthare thou also art one of them; for thyyour speechaccent makethbetrays theeyou known |
| 26:74 |
Then he began he to invoke a curse on himself and to swear I knowdo not know the man And straightwayimmediately the cock crewcrowed |
| 26:75 |
And Peter remembered the wordsaying whichof Jesus had said Before the cock crowcrows thouyou shaltwill deny me thricethree times And he went out and wept bitterly |
| 27:1 |
NowWhen when morning wascame come all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:; |
| 27:2 |
and they bound him and led him away and delivered him up to Pilate the governor |
| 27:3 |
ThenWhen Judas whohis betrayedbetrayer him when he saw that he was condemned he repented himself and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders |
| 27:4 |
saying I have sinned in thatbetraying I betrayed innocent blood ButThey they said What is that to us seeSee thou to it yourself |
| 27:5 |
And hethrowing cast down the pieces of silver intoin the sanctuarytemple andhe departed; and he went away and hanged himself |
| 27:6 |
AndBut the chief priests tooktaking the pieces of silver and said It is not lawful to put them into the treasury since itthey isare theblood pricemoney of blood |
| 27:7 |
AndSo they took counsel and bought with them the potters field to bury strangers in |
| 27:8 |
WhereforeTherefore that field washas been called Thethe fieldField of bloodBlood untoto this day |
| 27:9 |
Then was fulfilled thatwhat whichhad wasbeen spoken throughby Jeremiah the prophet Jeremiah saying And they took the thirty pieces of silver the price of him thaton waswhom priceda whomprice certainhad been set by some of the childrensons of Israel did price; |
| 27:10 |
and they gave them for the potters field as the Lord appointeddirected me |
| 27:11 |
Now Jesus stood before the governor:; and the governor asked him sayingAre Artyou thou the King of the Jews And Jesus said untoYou himhave Thousaid sayestso |
| 27:12 |
AndBut when he was accused by the chief priests and elders he answeredmade nothingno answer |
| 27:13 |
Then saith Pilate untosaid to him HearestDo thouyou not hear how many things they witnesstestify against theeyou |
| 27:14 |
AndBut he gave him no answer not even to onea word:single insomuchcharge; so that the governor marvelledwondered greatly |
| 27:15 |
Now at the feast the governor was wontaccustomed to release untofor the multitudecrowd any one prisoner whom they wouldwanted |
| 27:16 |
And they had then a notablenotorious prisoner called BarabbasBarab′bas |
| 27:17 |
WhenSo thereforewhen they werehad gathered together Pilate said untoto them Whom willdo yeyou thatwant Ime to release untofor you BarabbasBarab′bas or Jesus who is called Christ |
| 27:18 |
For he knew that forit was out of envy that they had delivered him up |
| 27:19 |
AndBesides while he was sitting on the judgment seat his wife sent untoword to him saying Have thou nothing to do with that righteous man; for I have suffered manymuch thingsover thishim daytoday in a dream because of him |
| 27:20 |
Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudespeople thatto they should ask for BarabbasBarab′bas and destroy Jesus |
| 27:21 |
ButThe the governor answeredagain and said untoto them Which of the two willdo yeyou thatwant Ime to release untofor you And they said BarabbasBarab′bas |
| 27:22 |
Pilate saithsaid untoto them WhatThen thenwhat shall I do untowith Jesus who is called Christ They all saysaid Let him be crucified |
| 27:23 |
And he said Why what evil hathhas he done But they criedshouted outall exceedinglythe sayingmore Let him be crucified |
| 27:24 |
So when Pilate saw that he prevailedwas gaining nothing but rather that a tumultriot was arisingbeginning he took water and washed his hands before the multitudecrowd saying I am innocent of the blood of this righteousmans manblood; see ye to it yourselves |
| 27:25 |
And all the people answered and said His blood be on us and on our children |
| 27:26 |
Then he released hefor unto them Barabbas;Barab′bas butand Jesushaving he scourged andJesus delivered him to be crucified |
| 27:27 |
Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetoriumpraetorium and they gathered unto him the whole bandbattalion before him |
| 27:28 |
And they stripped him and put on him a scarlet robe upon him |
| 27:29 |
Andand theyplaiting platted a crown of thorns andthey put it uponon his head and put a reed in his right hand; andAnd theykneeling kneeled down before him andthey mocked him saying Hail King of the Jews |
| 27:30 |
And they spat upon him and took the reed and smotestruck him on the head |
| 27:31 |
And when they had mocked him they tookstripped offhim fromof him the robe and put his own clothes on him his garments and led him away to crucify him |
| 27:32 |
AndAs as they camewent out they foundcame upon a man of CyreneCyre′ne Simon by name:; himthis man they compelled to gocarry with them that he might bear his cross |
| 27:33 |
And when they werecame cometo unto a place called GolgothaGol′gotha thatwhich ismeans tothe say The place of a skull |
| 27:34 |
they gaveoffered him wine to drink mingled with gall:; andbut when he had tasted it he would not drink it |
| 27:35 |
And when they had crucified him they parteddivided his garments among them by casting lots; |
| 27:36 |
andthen they sat down and watchedkept watch over him there |
| 27:37 |
And over his head they setput upthe overcharge hisagainst headhim hiswhich accusationread written This is Jesus the King of the Jews |
| 27:38 |
Then aretwo thererobbers were crucified with him two robbers one on the right hand and one on the left |
| 27:39 |
And theythose thatwho passed by railedderided on him wagging their heads |
| 27:40 |
and saying ThouYou thatwho destroyestwould destroy the temple and buildestbuild it in three days save thyself:yourself ifIf thouyou artare the Son of God come down from the cross |
| 27:41 |
InSo like manner also the chief priests mocking him with the scribes and elders saidmocked him saying |
| 27:42 |
He saved others; himself he cannot save himself He is the King of Israel; let him now come down now from the cross and we will believe onin him |
| 27:43 |
He trustethtrusts onin God; let himGod deliver him now if he desirethdesires him:; for he said I am the Son of God |
| 27:44 |
And the robbers alsowho that were crucified with him castalso uponreviled him in the same reproachway |
| 27:46 |
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice saying Eli Eli lamala′ma sabachthanisabach tha′ni that is My God my God why hast thou forsaken me |
| 27:47 |
And some of themthe thatbystanders stoodhearing there when they heard it said This man callethis Elijahcalling Eli′jah |
| 27:48 |
And straightway one of them at once ran and took a sponge and filled it with vinegar and put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink |
| 27:49 |
AndBut the restothers said LetWait be; let us see whether ElijahEli′jah comethwill come to save him |
| 27:51 |
And behold the veilcurtain of the temple was renttorn in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth didshook quake; and the rocks were rentsplit; |
| 27:52 |
and the tombs also were opened; and many bodies of the saints thatwho had fallen asleep were raised; |
| 27:53 |
and coming forth out of the tombs after his resurrection they enteredwent into the holy city and appeared untoto many |
| 27:54 |
NowWhen the centurion and theythose thatwho were with him watchingkeeping Jesuswatch whenover theyJesus saw the earthquake and thewhat thingstook thatplace they were donefilled fearedwith exceedinglyawe sayingand said Truly this was the Son of God |
| 27:55 |
AndThere were also many women were there beholdinglooking on from afar who had followed Jesus from Galilee ministering untoto him:; |
| 27:56 |
among whom waswere Mary MagdaleneMag′dalene and Mary the mother of James and JosesJoseph and the mother of the sons of ZebedeeZeb′edee |
| 27:57 |
AndWhen whenit even was comeevening there came a rich man from ArimathaeaArimathe′a named Joseph who also himself was Jesusa disciple: of Jesus |
| 27:58 |
thisHe man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus Then Pilate commandedordered it to be given upto him |
| 27:59 |
And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen clothshroud |
| 27:60 |
and laid it in his own new tomb which he had hewn out in the rock:; and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb and departed |
| 27:61 |
And Mary MagdaleneMag′dalene was there and the other Mary were there sitting overopposite against the sepulchre |
| 27:62 |
NowNext onday thethat morrowis whichafter is the day afterof the Preparation the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered togetherbefore unto Pilate |
| 27:63 |
sayingand said Sir we remember thathow that deceiverimposter said while he was yetstill alive After three days I will rise again |
| 27:64 |
CommandTherefore thereforeorder that the sepulchre to be made suresecure until the third day lest haply his disciples comego and steal him away and saytell unto the people He ishas risen from the dead: and the last errorfraud will be worse than the first |
| 27:65 |
Pilate said untoto them YeYou have a guard: of soldiers; go make it as suresecure as yeyou can |
| 27:66 |
So they went and made the sepulchre suresecure by sealing the stone theand guardsetting beinga with themguard |
| 28:1 |
Now lateafter on the sabbath daytoward asthe it began to dawn towardof the first day of the week came Mary MagdaleneMag′dalene and the other Mary went to see the sepulchre |
| 28:2 |
And behold there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled awayback the stone and sat upon it |
| 28:3 |
His appearance was aslike lightning and his raiment white as snow: |
| 28:4 |
andAnd for fear of him the watchersguards didtrembled quake and became aslike dead men |
| 28:5 |
AndBut the angel answered and said untoto the women FearDo not yebe afraid; for I know that yeyou seek Jesus who hathwas been crucified |
| 28:6 |
He is not here; for he ishas risen even as he said Come see the place where thehe Lord lay |
| 28:7 |
AndThen go quickly and tell his disciples Hethat ishe has risen from the dead; and lobehold he goethis going before you intoto Galilee; there shallyou yewill see him: loLo I have told you |
| 28:8 |
AndSo they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy and ran to bringtell his disciples word |
| 28:9 |
And behold Jesus met them sayingand Allsaid hailHail And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshippedworshiped him |
| 28:10 |
Then saith Jesus untosaid to them FearDo not: be afraid; go and tell my brethren thatto theygo departto into Galilee and there shall they will see me |
| 28:11 |
NowWhile while they were going behold some of the guard camewent into the city and told unto the chief priests all the things that werehad cometaken toplace pass |
| 28:12 |
And when they werehad assembled with the elders and had taken counsel they gave mucha sum of money untoto the soldiers |
| 28:13 |
sayingand Saysaid yeTell people His disciples came by night and stole him away while we sleptwere asleep |
| 28:14 |
And if this comecomes to the governors ears we will persuadesatisfy him and ridkeep you out of caretrouble |
| 28:15 |
So they took the money and did as they were taught:directed; and this sayingstory washas been spread abroad among the Jews andto continueth until this day |
| 28:16 |
ButNow the eleven disciples went intoto Galilee untoto the mountain whereto which Jesus had appointeddirected them |
| 28:17 |
And when they saw him they worshippedworshiped him; but some doubted |
| 28:18 |
And Jesus came to them and spakesaid untoto them saying All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth has been given to me |
| 28:19 |
Go ye therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them intoin the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: |
| 28:20 |
teaching them to observe all thingsthat whatsoever I have commanded you:; and lo I am with you always evento unto the endclose of the worldage |
