| 1:1 |
There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was perfectblameless and upright and one thatwho feared God and turned away from evil |
| 1:2 |
AndThere there were born untoto him seven sons and three daughters |
| 1:3 |
HisHe substancehad also was seven thousand sheep and three thousand camels and five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred she asses and a very greatmany householdservants; so that this man was the greatest of all the childrenpeople of the east |
| 1:4 |
AndHis his sons wentused to go and heldhold a feast in the house of each oneon upon his day; and they sentwould send and calledinvite for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them |
| 1:5 |
And it was so when the days of theirthe feastingfeast werehad gonerun abouttheir thatcourse Job sentwould send and sanctifiedsanctify them and rosehe upwould rise early in the morning and offeredoffer burnt offerings according to the number of them all:; for Job said It may be that my sons have sinned and renouncedcursed God in their hearts Thus Job did Job continually |
| 1:6 |
Now itthere camewas toa pass on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovahthe thatLord and Satan also came among them |
| 1:7 |
AndThe JehovahLord said untoto Satan Whence comesthave thouyou Thencome Satan answered Jehovahthe andLord said From going to and fro inon the earth and from walking up and down inon it |
| 1:8 |
And Jehovahthe Lord said untoto Satan HastHave thouyou considered my servant Job forthat there is none like him inon the earth a perfectblameless and an upright man onewho thatfears feareth God and turnethturns away from evil |
| 1:9 |
Then Satan answered Jehovahthe andLord saidDoes Doth Job fear God for nought |
| 1:10 |
Hast thou not thouput made a hedge about him and about his house and about all that he hathhas on every side thouThou hast blessed the work of his hands and his substancepossessions ishave increased in the land |
| 1:11 |
But put forth thy hand now and touch all that he hathhas and he will renouncecurse thee to thy face |
| 1:12 |
And Jehovahthe Lord said untoto Satan Behold all that he hathhas is in thyyour power; only upon himself putdo not put forth thyyour hand So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovahthe Lord |
| 1:13 |
AndNow itthere fellwas on a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brothers house; |
| 1:14 |
thatand there came a messenger untoto Job and said The oxen were plowing and the asses feeding beside them; |
| 1:15 |
and the SabeansSabe′ans fell upon them and took them away:and yeaslew they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I onlyalone amhave escaped alone to tell theeyou |
| 1:16 |
While he was yet speaking there came also another and said The fire of God isfell fallen from heaven and hath burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them; and I onlyalone amhave escaped alone to tell theeyou |
| 1:17 |
While he was yet speaking there came also another and said The ChaldeansChalde′ans madeformed three bandscompanies and fellmade a raid upon the camels and havetook taken them away yea and slainslew the servants with the edge of the sword; and I onlyalone amhave escaped alone to tell theeyou |
| 1:18 |
While he was yet speaking there came also another and said ThyYour sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brothers house; |
| 1:19 |
and behold there came a great wind fromcame across the wilderness and smotestruck the four corners of the house and it fell upon the young menpeople and they are dead; and I onlyalone amhave escaped alone to tell theeyou |
| 1:20 |
Then Job arose and rent his robe and shaved his head and fell down upon the ground and worshipped;worshiped |
| 1:21 |
andAnd he said Naked came I outcame offrom my mothers womb and naked shall I return; thither:the JehovahLord gave and Jehovahthe hathLord has taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovahthe Lord |
| 1:22 |
In all this Job sinneddid not norsin chargedor charge God foolishlywith wrong |
| 2:1 |
Again itthere camewas toa pass on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovahthe thatLord and Satan also came also among them to present himself before Jehovahthe Lord |
| 2:2 |
And Jehovahthe Lord said untoto Satan FromWhence whencehave comestyou thoucome And Satan answered Jehovahthe andLord said From going to and fro inon the earth and from walking up and down inon it |
| 2:3 |
And Jehovahthe Lord said untoto Satan HastHave thouyou considered my servant Job forthat there is none like him inon the earth a perfectblameless and an upright man onewho thatfears feareth God and turnethturns away from evil: andHe he still holdethholds fast his integrity although thouyou movedstmoved me against him to destroy him without cause |
| 2:4 |
AndThen Satan answered Jehovahthe andLord said Skin for skin yeaAll all that a man hathhas he will he give for his life |
| 2:5 |
But put forth thy hand now and touch his bone and his flesh and he will renouncecurse thee to thy face |
| 2:6 |
And Jehovahthe Lord said untoto Satan Behold he is in thyyour handpower; only spare his life |
| 2:7 |
So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovahthe Lord and smoteafflicted Job with soreloathsome boilssores from the sole of his foot untoto histhe crown of his head |
| 2:8 |
And he took him a potsherd with which to scrape himself therewith; and he sat among the ashes |
| 2:9 |
Then said his wife untosaid to him DostDo thouyou still hold fast thineyour integrity renounceCurse God and die |
| 2:10 |
But he said untoto her ThouYou speakestspeak as one of the foolish women speakethwould Whatspeak shallShall we receive good at the hand of God and shall we not receive evil In all this Job did not Job sin with his lips |
| 2:11 |
Now when Jobs three friends heard of all this evil that washad come upon him they came everyeach one from his own place: EliphazEli′phaz the TemaniteTe′manite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite;Na′amathite andThey they made an appointment together to come to bemoancondole with him and to comfort him |
| 2:12 |
And when they liftedsaw uphim theirfrom eyes afar offthey anddid knewnot recognize him; notand they liftedraised up their voicevoices and wept; and they rent everytheir onerobes his robe and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven |
| 2:13 |
SoAnd they sat down with him uponon the ground seven days and seven nights and noneno spakeone spoke a word untoto him: for they saw that his griefsuffering was very great |
| 3:1 |
After this Job opened Job his mouth and cursed the day of his daybirth |
| 3:2 |
And Job answered and said: |
| 3:3 |
Let the day perish wherein I was born Andand the night which said ThereA is a man child is conceived |
| 3:4 |
Let that day be darkness; LetMay not God from above not seek for it Neithernor let the light shine upon it |
| 3:5 |
Let darknessgloom and thedeep shadowdarkness of death claim it for their own; Let aclouds cloud dwell upon it; Letlet allthe thatblackness makethof black the day terrify it |
| 3:6 |
AsThat for that night —let thick darkness seize upon it: Letlet it not rejoice among the days of the year; Letlet it not come into the number of the months |
| 3:7 |
LoYea let that night be barren; Letlet no joyful voicecry comebe thereinheard in it |
| 3:8 |
Let themthose curse it thatwho curse the day Whowho are readyskilled to rouse up leviathanLevi′athan |
| 3:9 |
Let the stars of theits twilightdawn thereof be dark:; Letlet it lookhope for light but have none; Neithernor letsee it behold the eyelids of the morning:; |
| 3:10 |
Becausebecause it shutdid not upshut the doors of my mothers womb Nornor hidhide trouble from minemy eyes |
| 3:11 |
Why dieddid I not fromdie theat wombbirth Whycome didforth Ifrom not give up the ghostwomb whenand my mother bare meexpire |
| 3:13 |
For nowthen I should I have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept; then had I should have been at rest |
| 3:14 |
Withwith kings and counsellorscounselors of the earth Whowho builtrebuilt upruins waste places for themselves; |
| 3:15 |
Oror with princes thatwho had gold Whowho filled their houses with silver: |
| 3:16 |
Or why was I not as a hidden untimely birth Ias had not been As infants that never sawsee the light |
| 3:17 |
There the wicked cease from troubling; Andand there the weary are at rest |
| 3:18 |
There the prisoners are at ease together; Theythey hear not the voice of the taskmaster |
| 3:19 |
The small and the great are there: Andand the servantslave is free from his master |
| 3:20 |
WhereforeWhy is light given to him that is in misery Andand life untoto the bitter in soul; |
| 3:21 |
Whowho long for death but it comethcomes not Andand dig for it more than for hid treasures; |
| 3:22 |
Whowho rejoice exceedingly Andand are glad when they can find the grave |
| 3:23 |
Why is light given to a man whose way is hid And whom God hathhas hedged in |
| 3:24 |
For my sighing comethcomes beforeas Imy eatbread Andand my groanings are poured out like water |
| 3:25 |
For the thing whichthat I fear comethcomes upon me Andand thatwhat which I amdread afraidbefalls of cometh unto me |
| 3:26 |
I am not at ease neithernor am I quiet; neitherI have Ino rest; Butbut trouble comethcomes |
| 4:1 |
Then answeredEli′phaz Eliphaz the TemaniteTe′manite and saidanswered: |
| 4:2 |

| 4:3 |
Behold thouyou hasthave instructed many Andand thouyou hasthave strengthened the weak hands |
| 4:4 |

| 4:5 |
But now it ishas come untoto theeyou and thouyou faintestare impatient; Itit touchethtouches theeyou and thouyou artare troubleddismayed |
| 4:6 |
Is not thyyour fear of God thyyour confidence Andand the integrity of thyyour ways thyyour hope |
| 4:7 |
RememberThink Inow praywho theethat whowas innocent ever perished being innocent Or where were the upright cut off |
| 4:8 |
AccordingAs as I have seen theythose thatwho plow iniquity Andand sow trouble reap the same |
| 4:9 |
By the breath of God they perish Andand by the blast of his anger they are they consumed |
| 4:10 |
The roaringroar of the lion and the voice of the fierce lion And the teeth of the young lions are broken |
| 4:11 |
The oldstrong lion perishethperishes for lack of prey Andand the whelps of the lioness are scattered abroad |
| 4:12 |
Now a thingword was secretly brought to me Andstealthily minemy ear received athe whisper thereofof it |
| 4:13 |
InAmid thoughts from the visions of the night Whenwhen deep sleep fallethfalls on men |
| 4:14 |
Feardread came upon me and trembling Whichwhich made all my bones to shake |
| 4:15 |
ThenA a spirit passedglided beforepast my face; Thethe hair of my flesh stood up |
| 4:16 |
It stood still but I could not discern theits appearance thereof; A form was before minemy eyes:; Therethere was silence andthen I heard a voice saying: |
| 4:17 |
ShallCan mortal man be morerighteous justbefore than God ShallCan a man be more pure thanbefore his Maker |
| 4:18 |
BeholdEven in his servants he puttethputs no trust inand his servants; And his angels he chargethcharges with folly:error; |
| 4:19 |
Howhow much more themthose thatwho dwell in houses of clay Whosewhose foundation is in the dust Whowho are crushed before the moth |
| 4:20 |
BetwixtBetween morning and evening they are destroyed:; Theythey perish for ever without any regarding it |
| 4:21 |
IsIf not their tent cord is plucked up within them Theydo they not die and that without wisdom |
| 5:1 |
Call now; is there any thatone who will answer theeyou AndTo to which of the holy ones wiltwill thouyou turn |
| 5:2 |
ForSurely vexation killethkills the foolishfool manand And jealousy slayethslays the silly onesimple |
| 5:3 |
I have seen the foolishfool taking root: Butbut suddenly I cursed his habitationdwelling |
| 5:4 |
His childrensons are far from safety And they are crushed in the gate Neitherand there is thereno anyone to deliver them: |

| 5:8 |
ButAs as for me I would seek unto God Andand untoto God would I commit my cause; |
| 5:9 |
Whowho doethdoes great things and unsearchable Marvellousmarvelous things without number: |

| 5:17 |
Behold happy is the man whom God correcteth:reproves; Thereforetherefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty |
| 5:18 |
For he makethwounds sorebut andhe bindethbinds up; Hehe woundethsmites andbut his hands make wholeheal |
| 5:19 |
He will deliver theeyou infrom six troubles; Yea in seven there shall no evil touch theeyou |
| 5:20 |
In famine he will redeem theeyou from death; Andand in war from the power of the sword |
| 5:21 |

Lo this we have searched itout; so it is; true Hear it and know thou it for thyyour good |
| 6:1 |
Then Job answered and said: |
| 6:2 |
OhO that my vexation were but weighed Andand all my calamity laid in the balances |
| 6:3 |
For nowthen it would be heavier than the sand of the seas:sea; Thereforetherefore have my words have been rash |
| 6:4 |
For the arrows of the Almighty are withinin me; The poison whereof my spirit drinkethdrinks up:their Thepoison; the terrors of God doare setarrayed themselves in array against me |
| 6:5 |

| 6:8 |
OhO that I might have my request; Andand that God would grant memy the thing that I long fordesire; |
| 6:9 |
Even that it would please God to crush me; Thatthat he would let loose his hand and cut me off |
| 6:10 |
AndThis would be it still my consolation; YeaI letwould meeven exult in pain thatunsparing; sparethfor not That I have not denied the words of the Holy One |
| 6:11 |
What is my strength that I should wait And what is minemy end that I should be patient |

Is my strength the strength of stones Oror is my flesh of brassbronze |
| 6:13 |
IsIn ittruth not that I have no help in me Andand thatany wisdomresource is driven quite from me |

IsHas there not man a warfarehard toservice man upon earth Andand are not his days like the days of a hireling |
| 7:2 |
AsLike a servantslave thatwho earnestlylongs desirethfor the shadow Andand aslike a hireling thatwho lookethlooks for his wages: |
| 7:3 |
Soso am I madeam toallotted possess months of miseryemptiness Andand wearisome nights of misery are appointedapportioned to me |
| 7:4 |
When I lie down I say When shall I arise andBut the night beis gonelong Andand I am full of tossingstossing totill and fro unto the dawning of the daydawn |
| 7:5 |
My flesh is clothed with worms and clods of dustdirt; Mymy skin closethhardens upthen andbreaks breaketh out afresh |
| 7:6 |
My days are swifter than a weavers shuttle Andand arecome spentto their end without hope |
| 7:7 |
OhRemember remember that my life is a breath:; Minemy eye shallwill nonever moreagain see good |
| 7:8 |
The eye of him thatwho seethsees me shallwill behold me no more; Thinewhile thy eyes shallare be upon me but I shall notbe begone |
| 7:9 |
As the cloud isfades consumed and vanishethvanishes awayso So he thatwho goethgoes down to Sheol shalldoes not come up no more; |
| 7:10 |
Hehe shallreturns return no more to his house Neithernor shalldoes his place know him any more |
| 7:11 |
Therefore I will not refrainrestrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul |
| 7:12 |
Am I athe sea or a sea monster Thatthat thou settest a watchguard over me |
| 7:13 |
When I say My bed shallwill comfort me Mymy couch shallwill ease my complaint; |
| 7:14 |
Thenthen thou scarestdost scare me with dreams Andand terrifiestterrify me throughwith visions: |

| 7:16 |
I loathe my life; I would not live alway:for ever Let me alone; for my days are vanitya breath |
| 7:17 |
What is man that thou shouldestdost magnifymake so much of him Andand that thou shouldestdost set thy mind upon him |
| 7:18 |
Anddost that thou shouldest visit him every morning Andand trytest him every moment |
| 7:19 |
How long wilt thou not look away from me Nornor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle |
| 7:20 |
If I havesin sinned what do I untodo to thee O thou watcher of men Why hast thou setmade me asthy a mark forWhy theehave So that I ambecome a burden to myselfthee |
| 7:21 |
AndWhy why dost thou not pardon my transgression and take away minemy iniquity For now I shall I lie down in the dustearth; And thou wilt seek me diligently but I shall not be |
| 8:1 |
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite and saidanswered: |
| 8:2 |
How long wiltwill thouyou speaksay these things Andand how long shall the words of thyyour mouth be like a mightygreat wind |
| 8:3 |
DothDoes God pervert justice Or dothdoes the Almighty pervert righteousnessthe right |
| 8:4 |
If thyyour children have sinned against him And he hathhas delivered them into the handpower of their transgression; |
| 8:5 |
If thouyou wouldestwill seek diligently unto God Andand make thy supplication to the Almighty; |
| 8:6 |
Ifif thouyou wertare pure and upright: Surelysurely nowthen he wouldwill awakerouse himself for theeyou Andand makereward theyou habitationwith ofa thyrightful righteousness prosperoushabitation |
| 8:7 |
And though thyyour beginning was small Yetyour thy latter enddays wouldwill greatlybe increasevery great |
| 8:8 |
For inquire I pray theeyou of thebygone formerages ageand Andconsider applywhat thyselfthe to that which their fathers have searched outfound; |
| 8:9 |
Forfor we are but of yesterday and know nothing Becausefor our days uponon earth are a shadow; |
| 8:10 |
ShallWill they not they teach theeyou and tell theeyou Andand utter words out of their heartunderstanding |
| 8:11 |

| 8:12 |
WhilstWhile it is yet in itsflower greenness and not cut down Itthey witherethwither before any other herbplant |
| 8:13 |
SoSuch are the paths of all thatwho forget God; And the hope of the godless man shall perish: |
| 8:14 |
WhoseHis confidence shallbreaks break in sunder Andand whosehis trust is a spiders web |
| 8:15 |
He shallleans leanagainst upon his house but it shalldoes not stand:; Hehe shalllays hold fastof therebyit but it shalldoes not endure |
| 8:16 |
He isthrives green before the sun Andand his shoots gospread forth over his garden |

| 8:18 |
If he beis destroyed from his place Thenthen it shallwill deny him saying I have notnever seen theeyou |
| 8:19 |
Behold this is the joy of his way; Andand out of the earth shall others will spring |
| 8:20 |
Behold God will not castreject away a perfectblameless man Neithernor willtake hethe upholdhand theof evil doersevildoers |
| 8:21 |
He will yet fill thyyour mouth with laughter Andand thyyour lips with shouting |
| 8:22 |
TheyThose thatwho hate theeyou shallwill be clothed with shame; Andand the tent of the wicked shallwill be no more |
| 9:1 |
Then Job answered and said: |
| 9:2 |
OfTruly a truth I know that it is so: But how can a man be just withbefore God |
| 9:3 |
If heone bewished pleased to contend with him Heone cannotcould not answer him oneonce ofin a thousand times |
| 9:4 |
He is wise in heart and mighty in strength: Who—who hathhas hardened himself against him and prosperedsucceeded— |
| 9:5 |
Himhe thatwho removethremoves the mountains and they know it not Whenwhen he overturnethoverturns them in his anger; |
| 9:6 |
Thatwho shakethshakes the earth out of its place Andand theits pillars thereof tremble; |

Thatwho commandethcommands the sun and it risethdoes not Andrise; sealethwho seals up the stars; |

Thatwho doethdoes great things pastbeyond findingunderstanding outand Yeamarvelous marvellous things without number |
| 9:11 |
Lo he goethpasses by me and I see him not:; Hehe passethmoves on also but I do not perceive him not |
| 9:12 |
Behold he seizethsnatches theaway; prey who can hinder him Who will say untoto him What doest thou |
| 9:13 |
God will not withdrawturn back his anger; Thebeneath him bowed the helpers of Rahab do stoop under him |
| 9:14 |
How muchthen lesscan shall I answer him Andchoosing choose out my words to reason with him |
| 9:15 |
WhomThough though I weream righteousinnocent yet would I notcannot answer him; I wouldmust makeappeal supplicationfor mercy to my judgeaccuser |
| 9:16 |
If I hadsummoned calledhim and he had answered me YetI would I not believe that he hearkenedwas untolistening to my voice |
| 9:17 |
For he breakethcrushes me with a tempest Andand multipliethmultiplies my wounds without cause; |
| 9:18 |
Hehe will not sufferlet me toget take my breath Butbut fillethfills me with bitterness |
| 9:19 |
If weit speakis a contest of strength lobehold hehim If it is mightya Andmatter if of justice Whowho saithcan he will summon mehim |
| 9:20 |
Though I beam righteousinnocent minemy own mouth shallwould condemn me:; Thoughthough I beam perfectblameless ithe shallwould prove me perverse |
| 9:21 |
I am perfectblameless; I regard not myself; I despiseloathe my life |
| 9:22 |
It is all one; therefore I say Hehe destroyethdestroys both the perfectblameless and the wicked |
| 9:23 |
IfWhen thedisaster scourgebrings slaysudden suddenlydeath Hehe willmocks mock at the trialcalamity of the innocent |
| 9:24 |
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; Hehe coverethcovers the faces of theits judges— thereof:if If it beis not he who then is it |
| 9:25 |
NowMy my days are swifter than a post:runner; Theythey flee away they see no good |
| 9:26 |
They arego passedby awaylike asskiffs theof swiftreed ships;like Asan the eagle thatswooping swoopeth on the prey |
| 9:27 |
If I say I will forget my complaint I will put off my sad countenance and be of good cheer; |
| 9:28 |
I ambecome afraid of all my sorrowssuffering for I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent |
| 9:29 |
I shall be condemned; Whywhy then do I labor in vain |
| 9:30 |
If I wash myself with snow waterand Andcleanse make my hands neverwith so clean;lye |
| 9:31 |

| 28:15 |
It cannot be gotten for gold Neitherand shall silver cannot be weighed foras theits price thereof |
| 28:16 |
It cannot be valued within the gold of Ophir Within the precious onyx or the sapphire |

The topaz of Ethiopia shallcannot notcompare equalwith it Neithernor shallcan it be valued within pure gold |
| 28:20 |
Whence then comethcomes wisdom And where is the place of understanding |
| 28:21 |
SeeingIt it is hid from the eyes of all living Andand keptconcealed close from the birds of the heavensair |
| 28:22 |
DestructionAbaddon and Death say We have heard a rumor thereofof it with our ears |
| 28:23 |
God understandethunderstands the way thereofto Andit and he knowethknows theits place thereof |
| 28:24 |
For he lookethlooks to the ends of the earth Andand seethsees everything under the whole heaven;heavens |

Thenthen did he seesaw it and declaredeclared it; Hehe established it yea and searched it out |
| 28:28 |
And unto man he said to man Behold the fear of the Lord that is wisdom; Andand to depart from evil is understanding |

And Job again took up his parablediscourse and said: |
| 29:2 |
Oh that I were as in the months of old Asas in the days when God watched over me; |
| 29:3 |
Whenwhen his lamp shinedshone upon my head Andand by his light I walked through darkness; |
| 29:4 |
Asas I was in themy ripenessautumn of my days Whenwhen the friendship of God was upon my tent; |
| 29:5 |
Whenwhen the Almighty was yet with me Andwhen my children were about me; |
| 29:6 |
Whenwhen my steps were washed with buttermilk Andand the rock poured out for me out streams of oil |
| 29:7 |
When I went forthout to the gate untoof the city Whenwhen I prepared my seat in the streetsquare |
| 29:8 |
Thethe young men saw me and hidwithdrew themselvesand And the aged rose up and stood; |
| 29:9 |
Thethe princes refrained from talking Andand laid their hand on their mouth; |
| 29:10 |
Thethe voice of the nobles was hushed Andand their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth |
| 29:11 |
ForWhen when the ear heard meit thencalled itme blessed me;and And when the eye saw me it gave witness unto me:approved; |
| 29:12 |
Becausebecause I delivered the poor thatwho cried Theand the fatherless alsowho that had none to help him |
| 29:13 |
The blessing of him thatwho was readyabout to perish came upon me; Andand I caused the widows heart to sing for joy |
| 29:14 |
I put on righteousness and it clothed me:; Mymy justice was aslike a robe and a diademturban |
| 29:15 |
I was eyes to the blind Andand feet was I to the lame |
| 29:16 |
I was a father to the needy:poor Andand I searched out the cause of him thatwhom I knewdid not I searched outknow |
| 29:17 |
And I brakebroke the jawsfangs of the unrighteous Andand pluckedmade thehim drop his prey outfrom of his teeth |
| 29:18 |
Then I saidthought I shall die in my nest Andand I shall multiply my days as the sand: |
| 29:19 |
Mymy rootroots is spread out to the waters Andwith the dew lieth all night uponon my branch:branches |
| 29:20 |
Mymy glory is fresh inwith me Andand my bow isever renewednew in my hand |
| 29:21 |
UntoMen melistened mento gaveme ear and waited Andand kept silence for my counsel |
| 29:22 |
After myI wordsspoke they spakedid not speak again; Andand my speechword distilleddropped upon them |
| 29:23 |
AndThey they waited for me as for the rain; Andand they opened their mouthmouths wide as for the latterspring rain |
| 29:24 |
I smiled on them when they had no confidence; Andand the light of my countenance they castdid not cast down |
| 29:25 |
I chose out their way and sat as chief Andand I dwelt aslike a king inamong thehis armytroops Aslike one thatwho comfortethcomforts the mourners |
| 30:1 |
But now they thatmake sport of me men who are younger than I havewhose mefathers inI derisionwould Whosehave fathers I disdained to set with the dogs of my flock |

HeGod hathhas cast me into the mire Andand I amhave become like dust and ashes |
| 30:20 |
I cry untoto thee and thou dost not answer me:; I stand up and thou gazestdost atnot heed me |
| 30:21 |
Thou arthast turned to be cruel to me; Withwith the might of thy hand thou persecutestdost persecute me |
| 30:22 |
Thou liftest me up toon the wind thou causestmakest me to ride uponon it; Andand thou dissolvesttossest me about in the roar of the storm |
| 30:23 |
ForYea I know that thou wilt bring me to death Andand to the house appointed for all living |
| 30:24 |
HowbeitYet dothdoes not one stretchin outa theheap handof inruins stretch out his fallhand Orand in his calamitydisaster therefore cry for help |
| 30:25 |
Did not I weep for him thatwhose day was inhard trouble Was not my soul grieved for the needypoor |
| 30:26 |
WhenBut when I looked for good then evil came; Andand when I waited for light theredarkness came darkness |
| 30:27 |
My heart is troubledin turmoil and restethis notnever still; Daysdays of affliction are come uponto meet me |

I have made a covenant with minemy eyes; Howhow then shouldcould I look upon a virgin |
| 31:2 |
ForWhat whatwould isbe themy portion from God above Andand themy heritage from the Almighty on high |
| 31:3 |
IsDoes it not calamity tobefall the unrighteous Andand disaster to the workers of iniquity |
| 31:4 |
DothDoes not he see my ways Andand number all my steps |
| 31:5 |
If I have walked with falsehood Andand my foot hathhas hastedhastened to deceit; |
| 31:6 |
Let me be weighed in ana evenjust balance Thatand let God may know minemy integrity; |
| 31:7 |
Ifif my step hathhas turned outaside offrom the way Andand my heart walkedhas gone after minemy eyes Andand if any spot hathhas cleaved to my hands:; |
| 31:8 |
Thenthen let me sow and let another eat; Yeaand let thewhat producegrows offor myme field be rooted out |
| 31:9 |
If my heart hathhas been enticed untoto a woman Andand I have laidlain in wait at my neighbors door; |
| 31:10 |
Thenthen let my wife grind untofor another Andand let others bow down upon her |
| 31:11 |
For that werewould be a heinous crime; Yeathat itwould werebe an iniquity to be punished by the judges:; |
| 31:12 |
Forfor itthat iswould be a fire thatwhich consumethconsumes unto DestructionAbaddon Andand it would burn to the root out all minemy increase |
| 31:13 |
If I have despisedrejected the cause of my manmanservant servant or of my maidmaidservant servantwhen When they contendedbrought witha complaint against me; |
| 31:14 |
Whatwhat then shall I do when God risethrises up AndWhen when he visitethmakes inquiry what shall I answer him |
| 31:15 |
Did not he thatwho made me in the womb make him And did not one fashion us in the womb |
| 31:16 |
If I have withheld anything that the poor fromdesired theiror desire Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail |
| 31:17 |
Oror have eaten my morsel alone Andand the fatherless hathhas not eaten thereofof it |
| 31:18 |
Nayfor from myhis youth heI grewreared uphim with me as with a father Andand herfrom havehis mothers womb I guided from my mothers wombhim; |
| 31:19 |
Ifif I have seen any one perish for wantlack of clothing Oror thata thepoor needyman hadwithout no covering; |
| 31:20 |
Ifif his loins have not blessed me Andand if he hathwas not been warmed with the fleece of my sheep; |
| 31:21 |
Ifif I have liftedraised up my hand against the fatherless Becausebecause I saw my help in the gate:; |
| 31:22 |
Thenthen let my shoulder blade fall from themy shoulder bladeand Andlet minemy arm be broken from theits bonesocket |
| 31:23 |
For calamityI fromwas Godin is a terror toof mecalamity Andfrom byGod reasonand ofI hiscould majestynot Ihave canfaced dohis nothingmajesty |
| 31:24 |
If I have made gold my hopetrust Andor havecalled said to the fine gold Thou art my confidence; |
| 31:25 |
Ifif I have rejoiced because my wealth was great Andor because my hand had gotten much; |
| 31:26 |
Ifif I have beheldlooked at the sun when it shinedshone Oror the moon walkingmoving in brightnesssplendor |
| 31:27 |
Andand my heart hathhas been secretly enticed Andand my mouth hathhas kissed my hand:; |
| 31:28 |
Thisthis also werewould be an iniquity to be punished by the judges; Forfor I should have deniedbeen thefalse to God that is above |
| 31:29 |
If I have rejoiced at the destructionruin of him that hated me Oror liftedexulted up myself when evil foundovertook him |
| 31:30 |
Yea I have not sufferedlet my mouth to sin Byby asking for his life with a curse; |
| 31:31 |
Ifif the men of my tent have not said Who canis findthere one that hathhas not been filled with his meat |
| 31:32 |
Thethe sojourner hathhas not lodged in the street; But I have opened my doors to the travellerwayfarer; |
| 31:33 |
Ifif like Adam I have coveredconcealed my transgressions Byfrom men by hiding minemy iniquity in my bosom |
| 31:34 |
Becausebecause I fearedstood thein great fear of the multitude Andand the contempt of families terrified me Soso that I kept silence and wentdid not go out of the doordoors— |
| 31:35 |
Oh that I had one to hear me LoHere here is my signature let the Almighty answer me AndOh that I had the indictment whichwritten mineby my adversary hath written |
| 31:36 |
Surely I would carry it uponon my shoulder; I would bind it untoon me as a crown:; |
| 31:37 |
I would declaregive unto him thean numberaccount of all my steps; Aslike a prince would I gowould nearapproach unto him |
| 31:38 |

And when ElihuEli′hu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men hishe wrathbecame was kindledangry |
| 32:6 |
And ElihuEli′hu the son of BarachelBar′achel the Buzite answered: and said I am young in years and yeyou are very oldaged; Whereforetherefore I heldwas backtimid and durstafraid notto showdeclare youmy mineopinion opinionto you |

I also will answergive my partanswer; I also will showdeclare minemy opinion |
| 32:18 |
For I am full of words; Thethe spirit within me constrainethconstrains me |

| 33:9 |
You say I am clean without transgression; I am innocentpure neitherand there is thereno iniquity in me: |
| 33:10 |
Behold he findethfinds occasions against me Hehe countethcounts me foras his enemy; |

For God speakethspeaks oncein Yeaone twiceway and in two though man regardethdoes not perceive it not |
| 33:15 |
In a dream in a vision of the night Whenwhen deep sleep fallethfalls upon men Inwhile slumberingsthey uponslumber theon bed;their beds |
| 33:16 |
Thenthen he openethopens the ears of men Andand sealethterrifies theirthem instructionwith warnings |

Thatthat he may withdrawturn man aside from his purposedeed Andand hidecut off pride from man; |
| 33:18 |
Hehe keepethkeeps back his soul from the pitPit And his life from perishing by the sword |
| 33:19 |
HeMan is also chastened also with pain upon his bed Andand with continual strife in his bones; |
| 33:20 |
Soso that his life abhorrethloathes bread Andand his soulappetite dainty food |
| 33:21 |
His flesh is consumedso wasted away that it cannot be seen; Andand his bones thatwhich were not seen stick out |
| 33:22 |
YeaHis his soul drawethdraws near unto the pitPit Andand his life to thethose destroyerswho bring death |
| 33:23 |
If there be withfor him an angel Ana interpretermediator one amongof athe thousand Toto showdeclare untoto man what is right for him; |
| 33:24 |
Thenand Godhe is gracious untoto him and saithsays Deliver him from going down tointo the pitPit I have found a ransom; |

MarkGive wellheed O Job hearkenlisten untoto me:; Holdbe thysilent peace and I will speak |
| 33:32 |
If thouyou hasthave anything to say answer me:; Speakspeak for I desire to justify theeyou |
| 33:33 |
If not hearkenlisten thouto unto me:; Holdbe thysilent peace and I will teach theeyou wisdom |
| 34:1 |
MoreoverThen ElihuEli′hu answered and said: |
| 34:2 |
Hear my words yeyou wise men; Andand give ear untoto me yeyou thatwho have knowledgeknow; |
| 34:3 |
Forfor the ear triethtests words Asas the palate tastethtastes food |
| 34:4 |
Let us choose forwhat us that which is right:; Letlet us knowdetermine among ourselves what is good |
| 34:5 |
For Job hathhas said I am righteousinnocent Andand God hathhas taken away my right:; |
| 34:6 |
Notwithstandingin spite of my right I am accountedcounted a liar; Mymy wound is incurable though I am without transgression |
| 34:7 |
What man is like Job Whowho drinkethdrinks up scoffing like water |
| 34:8 |
Whowho goethgoes in company with theevildoers workersand ofwalks iniquity And walketh with wicked men |
| 34:9 |
For he hathhas said It profitethprofits a man nothing Thatthat he should take delight himselfin with God |
| 34:10 |
Therefore hearkenhear unto me yeyou men of understanding: Farfar be it from God that he should do wickedness Andand from the Almighty that he should commitdo iniquitywrong |
| 34:11 |
For according to the work of a man will he renderwill untorequite him Andand causeaccording everyto manhis toways findhe accordingwill tomake hisit waysbefall him |
| 34:12 |
YeaOf of a suretytruth God will not do wickedly Neitherand will the Almighty will not pervert justice |
| 34:13 |
Who gave him a charge over the earth Orand who hathlaid disposedon him the whole world |
| 34:14 |
If he setshould take back his heartspirit uponto himself Ifand he gather untoto himself his spirit and his breath; |
| 34:15 |
Allall flesh shallwould perish together Andand man shallwould turnreturn againto unto dust |
| 34:16 |
If nowyou thouhave hast understanding hear this:; Hearkenlisten to thewhat voiceI of my wordssay |
| 34:17 |
Shall even one thatwho hatethhates justice govern AndWill wiltyou thou condemn him thatwho is righteous and mighty— |
| 34:18 |
Himwho thatsays saith to a king ThouWorthless artone vileand Or to nobles YeWicked are wickedman; |
| 34:19 |
Thatwho respectethshows notno thepartiality personsto of princes Nornor regardethregards the rich more than the poor; Forfor they are all are the work of his hands |
| 34:20 |
In a moment they die; even at midnight; Thethe people are shaken and pass away Andand the mighty are taken away withoutby no human hand |
| 34:21 |
For his eyes are upon the ways of a man Andand he seethsees all his goingssteps |
| 34:22 |
There is no darkness nor thick gloom Whereor thedeep workersdarkness ofwhere iniquityevildoers may hide themselves |
| 34:23 |
For he needethhas not furtherappointed toa considertime afor any man Thatto he should go before God in judgment |
| 34:24 |
He breakethshatters inthe pieces mighty menwithout ininvestigation waysand pastsets finding out And setteth others in their steadplace |
| 34:25 |
ThereforeThus heknowing taketh knowledge of their works; And he overturnethoverturns them in the night soand that they are destroyedcrushed |
| 34:26 |
He strikethstrikes them asfor wickedtheir menwickedness Inin the open sight of others;men |
| 34:27 |
Becausebecause they turned aside from following him Andand wouldhad notno have regard infor any of his ways: |
| 34:28 |
Soso that they caused the cry of the poor to come untoto him Andand he heard the cry of the afflicted— |
| 34:29 |
When he givethis quietnessquiet who then can condemn AndWhen when he hidethhides his face who then can behold him Alike whether it be done unto a nation or unto a man:— |
| 34:30 |
Thatthat thea godless man reignshould not Thatreign therethat behe noneshould tonot ensnare the people |
| 34:31 |
For hathhas any one said untoto God I have borne chastisement; I will not offend any more:; |
| 34:32 |
Thatteach whichme what I seedo not teachsee; thouif me: If I have done iniquity I will do it no more |
| 34:33 |
ShallWill hishe recompensethen bemake asrequital thouto wiltsuit thatyou thoubecause refusestyou reject it For thouyou must choose and not I:; Thereforetherefore speakdeclare what thouyou knowestknow |
| 34:34 |
Men of understanding will say untoto me Yeaand everythe wise man thatwho hearethhears me will say: |
| 34:35 |
Job speakethspeaks without knowledge And his words are without wisdominsight |
| 34:36 |
Would that Job were tried untoto the end Becausebecause ofhe hisanswers answering like wicked men |
| 34:37 |
For he addethadds rebellion untoto his sin; Hehe clappethclaps his hands among us Andand multipliethmultiplies his words against God |
| 35:1 |
MoreoverAnd ElihuEli′hu answered and said: |
| 35:2 |
ThinkestDo thouyou think this to be thyjust rightDo Oryou sayestsay thouIt Myis righteousnessmy isright morebefore than GodsGod |
| 35:3 |
Thatthat thouyou sayestask What advantage willhave itI beHow untoam thee And What profit shall I havebetter moreoff than if I had sinned |
| 35:4 |
I will answer theeyou Andand thyyour companionsfriends with theeyou |
| 35:5 |
Look untoat the heavens and see; Andand behold the skiesclouds which are higher than thouyou |
| 35:6 |
If thouyou hasthave sinned what effectestdo thouyou accomplish against him And if thyyour transgressions beare multiplied what doestdo thouyou untodo to him |
| 35:7 |
If thouyou beare righteous what givestdo thouyou give to him; Oror what receivethdoes he ofreceive thyfrom your hand |
| 35:8 |
ThyYour wickedness mayconcerns hurt a man aslike thouyourself art;and Andyour thy righteousness may profit a son of man |
| 35:9 |
ByBecause reason of the multitude of oppressions theypeople cry out; Theythey crycall for help bybecause reason of the arm of the mighty |
| 35:10 |
But none saithsays Where is God my Maker Whowho givethgives songs in the night |
| 35:11 |
Whowho teachethteaches us more than the beasts of the earth Andand makethmakes us wiser than the birds of the heavensair |
| 35:12 |
There they cry out but nonehe givethdoes not answer Becausebecause of the pride of evil men |
| 35:13 |
Surely God willdoes not hear an empty cry Neithernor willdoes the Almighty regard it |
| 35:14 |
How much less when thouyou sayestsay thouthat beholdestyou himdo not Thesee causehim that the case is before him and thouyou waitestare waiting for him |
| 35:15 |
ButAnd now because hehis hathanger does not visitedpunish inand hishe angerdoes Neithernot doth he greatly regardheed arrogance;transgression |
| 35:16 |
Therefore doth Job openopens his mouth in vanity;empty Hetalk multipliethhe multiplies words without knowledge |
| 36:1 |
