| 1:1 |
Paul an apostle of Christ Jesus throughby the will of God toTo the saints thatwho are atalso Ephesus and the faithful in Christ Jesus: |
| 1:3 |
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who hathhas blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ: |
| 1:4 |
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and withoutblameless blemish before him in love: |
| 1:5 |
havingHe foreordaineddestined us untoin adoptionlove asto be his sons through Jesus Christ unto himself according to the goodpurpose pleasure of his will |
| 1:6 |
to the praise of thehis gloryglorious of his grace which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved: |
| 1:7 |
inIn whomhim we have our redemption through his blood the forgiveness of our trespasses according to the riches of his grace |
| 1:8 |
which he madelavished toupon abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence |
| 1:9 |
makingFor he has made known untoto us in all wisdom and insight the mystery of his will according to his goodpurpose pleasure which he purposedset forth in himChrist |
| 1:10 |
untoas a dispensationplan offor the fulness of thetime times to sumunite up all things in Christhim the things in theheaven heavens and the things uponon the earth; in him I say |
| 1:11 |
inIn whomhim also we were made a heritage having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who workethaccomplishes all things afteraccording to the counsel of his will; |
| 1:12 |
towe thewho endfirst thathoped wein shouldChrist behave untobeen thedestined praiseand ofappointed histo glorylive wefor whothe hadpraise beforeof hopedhis inglory Christ: |
| 1:13 |
inIn whomhim yeyou also havingwho have heard the word of the truth the gospel of your salvation—in whomand havinghave also believed yein him were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit of promise |
| 1:14 |
which is anthe earnestguarantee of our inheritance untountil thewe redemptionacquire possession of Godsit ownto possession unto the praise of his glory |
| 1:15 |
For this causereason because I alsohave having heard of theyour faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you and theyour love which ye show toward all the saints |
| 1:16 |
ceaseI do not cease to give thanks for you makingremembering mention of you in my prayers; |
| 1:17 |
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father of glory may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him; |
| 1:18 |
having the eyes of your hearthearts enlightened that yeyou may know what is the hope ofto hiswhich callinghe whathas thecalled richesyou ofwhat are the gloryriches of his glorious inheritance in the saints |
| 1:19 |
and what is the exceedingimmeasurable greatness of his power toin us ward who believe according to thatthe working of thehis strengthgreat of his might |
| 1:20 |
which he wroughtaccomplished in Christ when he raised him from the dead and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places |
| 1:21 |
far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and above every name that is named not only in this worldage but also in that which is to come:; |
| 1:22 |
and he has put all things in subjection under his feet and gavehas made him tothe be head over all things tofor the church |
| 1:23 |
which is his body the fulness of him thatwho fillethfills all in all |
| 2:1 |
And you did he makemade alive when yeyou were dead through yourthe trespasses and sins |
| 2:2 |
whereinin yewhich you once walked accordingfollowing to the course of this world accordingfollowing to the prince of the powerspower of the air of the spirit that is now workethat work in the sons of disobedience; |
| 2:3 |
amongAmong whomthese we also all once lived in the lustspassions of our flesh doingfollowing the desires of thebody flesh and of the mind and so we were by nature children of wrath evenlike as the rest:— of mankind |
| 2:4 |
butBut God beingwho is rich in mercy forout hisof the great love wherewithwith which he loved us |
| 2:5 |
even when we were dead through our trespasses made us alive together with Christ by grace you have ye been saved |
| 2:6 |
and raised us up with him and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus: |
| 2:7 |
that in the coming ages to come he might show the exceedingimmeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus: |
| 2:8 |
forFor by grace you have ye been saved through faith; and thatthis is not ofyour yourselvesown doing it is the gift of God;— |
| 2:9 |
not because of works thatlest noany man should gloryboast |
| 2:10 |
For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which God afore prepared beforehand that we should walk in them |
| 2:11 |
WhereforeTherefore remember that onceat yeone thetime you Gentiles in the flesh whocalled arethe uncircumcision by what is called Uncircumcisionthe bycircumcision that which is calledmade Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;— |
| 2:12 |
remember that yeyou were at that time separateseparated from Christ alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers fromto the covenants of the promise having no hope and without God in the world |
| 2:13 |
But now in Christ Jesus yeyou thatwho once were far off arehave madebeen nighbrought near in the blood of Christ |
| 2:14 |
For he is our peace who has made us both one and brakehas broken down the middledividing wall of partitionhostility |
| 2:15 |
havingby abolishedabolishing in his flesh the enmity even the law of commandments containedand in ordinances; that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two one new man so making peace; |
| 2:16 |
and might reconcile themus both to God in one body unto God through the cross havingthereby slainbringing the enmityhostility thereby:to an end |
| 2:17 |
andAnd he came and preached peace to you thatwho were far off and peace to themthose thatwho were nigh:near; |
| 2:18 |
for through him we both have our access in one Spirit untoto the Father |
| 2:19 |
So then yeyou are no morelonger strangers and sojourners but yeyou are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God |
| 2:20 |
being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets Christ Jesus himself being the chiefcornerstone corner stone; |
| 2:21 |
in whom eachthe severalwhole buildingstructure fitlyis framedjoined together growethand grows into a holy temple in the Lord; |
| 2:22 |
in whom yeyou also are buildedbuilt togetherinto it for a habitationdwelling place of God in the Spirit |
| 3:1 |
For this causereason I Paul thea prisoner offor Christ Jesus inon behalf of you Gentiles— |
| 3:2 |
ifassuming so be that yeyou have heard of the dispensationstewardship of thatGods grace ofthat God which was given to me tofor you ward; |
| 3:3 |
how thatthe bymystery revelation was made known untoto me theby mysteryrevelation as I wrotehave beforewritten inbriefly few words |
| 3:4 |
wherebyWhen whenyou ye read yethis you can perceive my understandinginsight ininto the mystery of Christ; |
| 3:5 |
which in other generations was not made known untoto the sons of men in other generations as it hathhas now been revealed untoto his holy apostles and prophets inby the Spirit; |
| 3:6 |
tothat witis thathow the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the same body and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel |
| 3:7 |
whereofOf this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of thatGods grace of God which was given me accordingby to the working of his power |
| 3:8 |
UntoTo me whothough I am lessthe thanvery the least of all the saints was this grace was given to preach untoto the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; |
| 3:9 |
and to make all men see what is the dispensationplan of the mystery whichhidden for ages hath been hid in God who created all things; |
| 3:10 |
to the intent that nowthrough unto the principalitieschurch and the powersmanifold inwisdom theof heavenlyGod places might now be made known throughto the churchprincipalities theand manifoldpowers wisdomin ofthe Godheavenly places |
| 3:11 |
This was according to the eternal purpose which he purposedhas realized in Christ Jesus our Lord: |
| 3:12 |
in whom we have boldness and accessconfidence inof confidenceaccess through our faith in him |
| 3:13 |
WhereforeSo I ask thatyou yenot mayto notlose faintheart atover mywhat tribulationsI am suffering for you which areis your glory |
| 3:14 |
For this causereason I bow my knees untobefore the Father |
| 3:16 |
that he would grant you according to the riches of his glory thathe ye may grant you to be strengthened with powermight through his Spirit in the inwardinner man; |
| 3:17 |
and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that yeyou being rooted and grounded in love |
| 3:18 |
may behave strongpower to apprehendcomprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth |
| 3:19 |
and to know the love of Christ which passethsurpasses knowledge that yeyou may be filled untowith all the fulness of God |
| 3:20 |
Now untoto him thatwho by the power at work within us is able to do exceedingfar more abundantly abovethan all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us |
| 3:21 |
untoto him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus untoto all generations for ever and ever Amen |
| 4:1 |
I therefore thea prisoner infor the Lord beseechbeg you to walklead worthilya life worthy of the calling wherewithto yewhich wereyou have been called |
| 4:2 |
with all lowliness and meekness with longsufferingpatience forbearing one another in love; |
| 4:3 |
givingeager diligence to keepmaintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace |
| 4:4 |
There is one body and one Spirit evenjust as alsoyou ye were called into the one hope ofthat belongs to your calling;call |
| 4:6 |
one God and Father of us all who is overabove all and through all and in all |
| 4:7 |
But untograce was given to each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of theChrists gift of Christ |
| 4:8 |
WhereforeTherefore heit saithis said When he ascended on high he led captivitya captivehost Andof captives and he gave gifts untoto men |
| 4:9 |
NowIn thissaying He ascended what isdoes it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth |
| 4:10 |
He thatwho descended is thehe samewho also that ascended far above all the heavens that he might fill all things |
| 4:11 |
And hehis gavegifts were that some toshould be apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers; |
| 4:12 |
forto theequip perfecting of the saints untofor the work of ministeringministry untofor the building up of the body of Christ: |
| 4:13 |
tilluntil we all attain untoto the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God untoto amature fullgrownmanhood manto unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:; |
| 4:14 |
so that we may be no longer be children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleightcunning of men inby their craftiness afterin thedeceitful wiles of error; |
| 4:15 |
butRather speaking the truth in love maywe are to grow up in allevery thingsway into him who is the head eveninto Christ; |
| 4:16 |
from whom all the whole body fitlyjoined framed and knit together throughby that which every joint suppliethwith accordingwhich toit theis workingsupplied inwhen due measure of each several part makethis theworking increaseproperly ofmakes thebodily bodygrowth untoand theupbuilds building up of itself in love |
| 4:17 |
ThisNow this I sayaffirm therefore and testify in the Lord that yeyou must no longer walklive as the Gentiles alsodo walk in the vanityfutility of their mindminds; |
| 4:18 |
beingthey are darkened in their understanding alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them becausedue ofto thetheir hardeninghardness of their heart; |
| 4:19 |
whothey beinghave pastbecome feelingcallous gaveand have given themselves up to lasciviousnesslicentiousness greedy to workpractice allevery uncleannesskind withof greedinessuncleanness |
| 4:20 |
ButYou ye did not so learn Christ;— |
| 4:21 |
ifassuming sothat beyou thathave ye heard about him and were taught in him even as the truth is in Jesus: |
| 4:22 |
thatPut yeoff putyour awayold asnature concerningwhich belongs to your former manner of life theand oldis man that waxeth corrupt afterthrough thedeceitful lusts of deceit; |
| 4:23 |
and that ye be renewed in the spirit of your mindminds |
| 4:24 |
and put on the new mannature thatcreated after Godthe hathlikeness beenof createdGod in true righteousness and holiness of truth |
| 4:25 |
WhereforeTherefore putting away falsehood let every one speak yethe truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another |
| 4:26 |
Be ye angry andbut do not sin; do not: let not the sun go down uponon your wrath:anger |
| 4:27 |
neitherand give placeno opportunity to the devil |
| 4:28 |
Let himthe thatthief stoleno longer steal no more: but rather let him labor workingdoing honest work with his hands theso thing that is good that he may havebe whereofable to give to himthose thatin hath need |
| 4:29 |
Let no corruptevil speechtalk proceedcome out of your mouthmouths but only such as is good for edifying as fits the needoccasion may be that it may giveimpart grace to themthose thatwho hear |
| 4:30 |
And grievedo not grieve the Holy Spirit of God in whom yeyou were sealed untofor the day of redemption |
| 4:31 |
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and railingslander be put away from you with all malice: |
| 4:32 |
and be ye kind to one to another tenderhearted forgiving eachone otheranother even as God also in Christ forgave you |
| 5:1 |
BeTherefore yebe therefore imitators of God as beloved children; |
| 5:2 |
andAnd walk in love even as Christ also loved youus and gave himself up for us ana fragrant offering and a sacrifice to God for an odor of a sweet smell |
| 5:3 |
But fornication and all uncleannessimpurity or covetousness letmust it not even be named among you as becomethis fitting among saints; |
| 5:4 |
norLet there be no filthiness nor foolishsilly talkingtalk ornor jestinglevity which are not befitting:fitting; but ratherinstead givinglet ofthere thanksbe thanksgiving |
| 5:5 |
ForBe thissure ye know of athis surety that no fornicator noror uncleanimpure personman noror covetousone man who is covetous that is an idolater hathhas any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God |
| 5:6 |
Let no manone deceive you with empty words: for it is because of these things comeththat the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience |
| 5:7 |
BeTherefore do not yeassociate therefore partakers with them; |
| 5:8 |
for yeonce you were once darkness but now you are now light in the Lord:; walk as children of light |
| 5:9 |
for the fruit of the light is found in all goodnessthat is good and righteousnessright and truthtrue |
| 5:10 |
provingand try to learn what is well pleasing untoto the Lord; |
| 5:11 |
andTake have no fellowshippart within the unfruitful works of darkness but ratherinstead evenexpose reprove them; |
| 5:12 |
forFor the things which are done by them in secret it is a shame even to speak of the things that they do in secret; |
| 5:13 |
Butbut all things when theyanything areis reprovedexposed are made manifest by the light: it becomes visible for everythinganything that isbecomes madevisible manifest is light |
| 5:14 |
WhereforeTherefore heit saithis said Awake thouO thatsleeper sleepest and arise from the dead and Christ shall shinegive uponyou theelight |
| 5:15 |
Look therefore carefully then how yeyou walk not as unwise men but as wise; |
| 5:16 |
redeemingmaking the most of the time because the days are evil |
| 5:17 |
WhereforeTherefore bedo ye not be foolish but understand what the will of the Lord is |
| 5:18 |
And bedo not drunkenget drunk with wine whereinfor that is riotdebauchery; but be filled with the Spirit; |
| 5:19 |
speakingaddressing one to another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart to the Lord; |
| 5:20 |
givingalways thanksand always for alleverything thingsgiving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God even the Father; |
| 5:21 |
subjectingBe yourselvessubject to one to another inout theof fearreverence offor Christ |
| 5:22 |
Wives be insubject subjectionto unto your own husbands as untoto the Lord |
| 5:23 |
For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ also is the head of the church beinghis himselfbody theand saviouris ofhimself theits bodySavior |
| 5:24 |
ButAs as the church is subject to Christ so let the wives also be subject in everything to their husbands in everything |
| 5:25 |
Husbands love your wives even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself up for it;her |
| 5:26 |
that he might sanctify ither having cleansed ither by the washing of water with the word |
| 5:27 |
that he might present the church to himself ain glorioussplendor churchwithout not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that itshe shouldmight be holy and without blemish |
| 5:28 |
Even so ought husbands alsoshould to love their own wives as their own bodies He thatwho lovethloves his own wife lovethloves himself: |
| 5:29 |
forFor no man ever hatedhates his own flesh; but nourishethnourishes and cherishethcherishes it even as Christ alsodoes the church; |
| 5:31 |
For this causereason shall a man shall leave his father and mother and shallbe cleavejoined to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh |
| 5:32 |
This mystery is great:a butprofound one and I speakam insaying regardthat ofit refers to Christ and of the church; |
| 5:33 |
Neverthelesshowever dolet yeeach alsoone severallyof you love each one his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she fearrespects her husband |
| 6:1 |
Children obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right |
| 6:2 |
Honor thyyour father and mother whichthis is the first commandment with a promise |
| 6:3 |
that it may be well with theeyou and thouthat mayestyou may live long on the earth |
| 6:4 |
AndFathers yedo fathersnot provoke not your children to wrath:anger but nurturebring them up in the chasteningdiscipline and admonitioninstruction of the Lord |
| 6:5 |
ServantsSlaves be obedient unto them that according to thethose fleshwho are your earthly masters with fear and trembling in singleness of your heart as untoto Christ; |
| 6:6 |
not in the way of eyeserviceeye service as men pleasers; but as servants of Christ doing the will of God from the heart; |
| 6:7 |
rendering service with a good will doing service as untoto the Lord and not untoto men: |
| 6:8 |
knowing that whatsoeverwhatever good thingany each one doethdoes thehe samewill shallreceive hethe receivesame again from the Lord whether he beis bonda slave or free |
| 6:9 |
AndMasters ye masters do the same thingsto unto them and forbear threatening: knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven and that there is no respectpartiality of persons with him |
| 6:11 |
Put on the whole armor of God that yeyou may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil |
| 6:12 |
For ourwe wrestlingare is not contending against flesh and blood but against the principalities against the powers against the world rulers of this present darkness against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places |
| 6:13 |
WhereforeTherefore take up the whole armor of God that yeyou may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand |
| 6:15 |
and having shod your feet with the preparationequipment of the gospel of peace; |
| 6:16 |
withalbesides all these taking up the shield of faith wherewithwith yewhich shallyou becan able to quench all the fieryflaming darts of the evil one |
| 6:17 |
And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God: |
| 6:18 |
withPray at all prayertimes andin supplicationthe prayingSpirit atwith all seasonsprayer inand thesupplication SpiritTo andthat watchingend thereuntokeep inalert with all perseverance andmaking supplication for all the saints |
| 6:19 |
and onalso myfor behalfme that utterance may be given unto me in opening my mouth boldly to makeproclaim known with boldness the mystery of the gospel |
| 6:20 |
for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speakdeclare it boldly as I ought to speak |
| 6:21 |
ButNow that yeyou also may know myhow affairsI howam and what I doam Tychicusdoing Tych′icus the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord shallwill maketell known to you alleverything things: |
| 6:22 |
whom I have sent untohim to you for this very purpose that yeyou may know ourhow statewe are and that he may comfortencourage your hearts |
| 6:24 |
Grace be with all themwho that love our Lord Jesus Christ with a love incorruptibleundying |
