| 1:1 |
Paul an apostle of Christ Jesus throughby the will of God and Timothy our brother untoTo the church of God which is at Corinth with all the saints thatwho are in the whole of AchaiaAcha′ia: |
| 1:3 |
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; |
| 1:4 |
who comfortethcomforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort themthose thatwho are in any affliction throughwith the comfort wherewithwith which we ourselves are comforted ofby God |
| 1:5 |
For as thewe sufferingsshare ofabundantly Christin aboundChrists untosufferings usso eventhrough soChrist ourwe comfortshare alsoabundantly aboundethin throughcomfort Christtoo |
| 1:6 |
ButIf whether we are afflicted it is for your comfort and salvation; orand whetherif we are comforted it is for your comfort which workethyou inexperience thewhen patientyou enduringpatiently ofendure the same sufferings whichthat we also suffer: |
| 1:7 |
andOur our hope for you is stedfastunshaken; knowingfor we know that as yeyou areshare partakersin ofour the sufferings soyou will also areshare yein ofour the comfort |
| 1:8 |
For we woulddo not havewant you to be ignorant brethren concerningof ourthe affliction whichwe befellexperienced us in Asia; thatfor we were weighedso downutterly exceedinglyunbearably beyondcrushed our power insomuch that we despaired even of life: itself |
| 1:9 |
yeaWhy we ourselvesfelt havethat we had received the sentence of death; withinbut ourselves that wewas shouldto make us rely not truston in ourselves but inon God who raisethraises the dead:; |
| 1:10 |
whohe delivered us outfrom of so greatdeadly a deathperil and he will deliver: us; on whomhim we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us; again |
| 1:11 |
yeYou also helpingmust togetherhelp onus our behalf by yourprayer supplication;so that formany thewill giftgive bestowedthanks uponon usour bybehalf meansfor ofthe manyblessing thanksgranted mayus bein givenanswer byto many persons on our behalfprayers |
| 1:12 |
For our gloryingboast is this the testimony of our conscience that inwe holinesshave andbehaved sincerityin ofthe Godworld notand instill fleshlymore wisdomtoward butyou inwith theholiness graceand ofgodly Godsincerity wenot behavedby ourselvesearthly inwisdom thebut worldby andthe moregrace abundantlyof toGod you ward |
| 1:13 |
For we write noyou othernothing thingsbut untowhat you thancan what ye read orand evenunderstand; acknowledge and I hope yeyou will acknowledgeunderstand untofully the end: |
| 1:14 |
as alsoyou yehave didunderstood acknowledge us in part that weyou arecan yourbe gloryingproud evenof us as yewe alsocan arebe oursof inyou on the day of ourthe Lord Jesus |
| 1:15 |
AndBecause inI was sure of this confidence I waswanted minded to come to you first untoso you that yeyou might have a seconddouble benefitpleasure; |
| 1:16 |
andI bywanted you to passvisit intoyou Macedoniaon andmy againway fromto MacedoniaMacedo′nia and to come untoback to you from Macedo′nia and ofhave you tosend beme set forward on my journeyway untoto JudaeaJudea |
| 1:17 |
WhenWas I thereforevacillating waswhen thus minded did I showwanted ficklenessto ordo thethis thingsDo that I purposemake domy Iplans purposelike accordinga toworldly theman fleshready thatto withsay meYes there should be the yea yea and theNo nayat nayonce |
| 1:18 |
ButAs surely as God is faithful our word towardto you ishas not yeabeen Yes and nayNo |
| 1:19 |
For the Son of God Jesus Christ whowhom waswe preached among you bySilva′nus us even by me and SilvanusTimothy and TimothyI was not yeaYes and nayNo; but in him it is yeaalways Yes |
| 1:20 |
For howall many soever be the promises of God find their Yes in him That is thewhy yea:we whereforeutter alsothe Amen through him isto the Amen unto the glory of God through us |
| 1:21 |
NowBut heit thatis establishethGod who establishes us with you in Christ and anointedhas commissioned us is God; |
| 1:22 |
whohe alsohas sealedput ushis andseal gaveupon us theand earnestgiven ofus thehis Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee |
| 1:23 |
But I call God forto a witness uponagainst myme—it soulwas that to spare you that I forbarerefrained tofrom comecoming untoto Corinth |
| 1:24 |
Not that we havelord lordshipit over your faith; butwe arework helperswith ofyou for your joy: for inyou faithstand yefirm standin fastyour faith |
| 2:1 |
ButFor I determinedmade thisup formy myselfmind that I would not cometo againmake to you withanother sorrowpainful visit |
| 2:2 |
For if I makecause you sorrypain who then is hethere thatto makethmake me glad but hethe thatone iswhom madeI sorryhave bypained me |
| 2:3 |
And I wrote thisas veryI thingdid lestso that when I came I shouldmight havenot sorrowsuffer pain from themthose ofwho whomshould Ihave oughtmade tome rejoice; havingfor confidenceI infelt yousure of all of you that my joy iswould be the joy of you all |
| 2:4 |
For I wrote you out of much affliction and anguish of heart Iand wrote unto you with many tears; not thatto yecause shouldyou bepain made sorry but thatto yelet mightyou know the abundant love whichthat I have morefor abundantly unto you |
| 2:5 |
But if any hathone has caused sorrowpain he hathhas caused sorrowit not to me but in partsome thatmeasure—not Ito pressput notit too heavily severely—to you all |
| 2:6 |
SufficientFor to such a one is this punishment whichby wasthe inflictedmajority byis the manyenough; |
| 2:7 |
so thatyou contrariwise ye should rather turn to forgive him and comfort him lestor byhe anymay means such a one should be swallowedoverwhelmed upby withexcessive his overmuch sorrow |
| 2:8 |
WhereforeSo I beseechbeg you to confirmreaffirm your love towardfor him |
| 2:9 |
For to this endis alsowhy did I writewrote that I might knowtest theyou proofand ofknow you whether yeyou are obedient in alleverything things |
| 2:10 |
ButAny toone whom yeyou forgive anything I forgive also: forforgive whatWhat I also have forgiven if I have forgiven anything has been for your sakessake have I forgiven it in the presence of Christ; |
| 2:11 |
thatto nokeep advantageSatan mayfrom begaining gainedthe advantage over us; by Satan: for we are not ignorant of his devicesdesigns |
| 2:12 |
NowWhen when I came to TroasTro′as forto preach the gospel of Christ and when a door was opened untofor me in the Lord; |
| 2:13 |
Ibut hadmy nomind reliefcould fornot myrest spirit because I founddid not Titusfind my brother: butTitus takingthere mySo I took leave of them Iand went forthon intoto MacedoniaMacedo′nia |
| 2:14 |
But thanks be untoto God who in Christ always leadethleads us in triumph in Christ and maketh manifest through us spreads the savorfragrance of histhe knowledge inof everyhim placeeverywhere |
| 2:15 |
For we are athe sweetaroma savor of Christ untoto God inamong themthose thatwho are being saved and inamong themthose thatwho perish;are perishing |
| 2:16 |
to the one a savorfragrance from death untoto death; to the other a savorfragrance from life untoto life AndWho who is sufficient for these things |
| 2:17 |
For we are not aslike theso many corruptingpeddlers theof Gods word; of God: but as men of sincerity but as ofcommissioned by God in the sight of God we speak we in Christ |
| 3:1 |
Are we beginning again to commend ourselves oragain needOr do we need as some do someletters epistles of commendationrecommendation to you or from you |
| 3:2 |
YeYou yourselves are our epistleletter of recommendation written inon ouryour hearts to be known and read ofby all men; |
| 3:3 |
beingand madeyou manifestshow that yeyou are ana epistleletter offrom Christ ministereddelivered by us written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God; not inon tablestablets of stone but inon tablestablets thatof arehuman hearts of flesh |
| 3:4 |
AndSuch suchis the confidence havethat we have through Christ totoward God ward: |
| 3:5 |
notNot that we are sufficientcompetent of ourselves to accountclaim anything as coming from ourselvesus; but our sufficiencycompetence is from God; |
| 3:6 |
who alsohas made us sufficientcompetent asto be ministers of a new covenant; not ofin thea letterwritten code but ofin the spirit:Spirit; for the letterwritten killethcode kills but the spiritSpirit givethgives life |
| 3:7 |
ButNow if the ministrationdispensation of death writtencarved andin engravenletters on stonesstone came with glorysuch sosplendor that the childrenIsraelites of Israel could not look stedfastlyat uponMoses the face because of Mosesits forbrightness thefading gloryas ofthis his face; which glory was passing away: |
| 3:8 |
howwill shall not rather the ministrationdispensation of the spiritSpirit be attended with glorygreater splendor |
| 3:9 |
For if thethere ministrationwas ofsplendor condemnationin haththe glorydispensation muchof rathercondemnation doth the ministrationdispensation of righteousness must far exceed it in glorysplendor |
| 3:10 |
ForIndeed verilyin thatthis whichcase hathwhat beenonce madehad glorioussplendor hathhas notcome beento madehave gloriousno insplendor thisat respectall bybecause reason of the glorysplendor that surpassethsurpasses it |
| 3:11 |
For if thatwhat whichfaded passeth away wascame with glorysplendor muchwhat moreis thatpermanent whichmust remainethhave ismuch inmore glorysplendor |
| 3:12 |
HavingSince thereforewe have such a hope we useare greatvery boldnessbold of speech |
| 3:13 |
and are not aslike Moses who put a veil uponover his face so that the childrenIsraelites ofmight Israel should not looksee stedfastly on the end of thatthe whichfading wassplendor passing away: |
| 3:14 |
butBut their minds were hardened:; for untilto this very day atwhen thethey readingread of the old covenant thethat same veil remainethremains itunlifted notbecause beingonly revealedthrough toChrist themis that it istaken done away in Christ |
| 3:15 |
ButYes untoto this day whensoeverwhenever Moses is read a veil liethlies uponover their heartminds; |
| 3:16 |
Butbut whensoeverwhen ita shallman turnturns to the Lord the veil is takenremoved away |
| 3:17 |
Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is libertyfreedom |
| 3:18 |
ButAnd we all with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord are transformedbeing changed into thehis samelikeness image from one degree of glory to gloryanother; evenfor asthis comes from the Lord who is the Spirit |
| 4:1 |
Therefore seeinghaving we have this ministry evenby asthe wemercy obtainedof mercyGod we faintdo not: lose heart |
| 4:2 |
butWe we have renounced thedisgraceful hiddenunderhanded thingsways; ofwe shamerefuse notto walkingpractice incunning craftinessor norto handlingtamper thewith Gods word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestationopen statement of the truth commendingwe would commend ourselves to every mans conscience in the sight of God |
| 4:3 |
And even if our gospel is veiled it is veiled inonly themto thatthose perish:who are perishing |
| 4:4 |
inIn whomtheir case the god of this world hathhas blinded the minds of the unbelievingunbelievers thatto keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ who is the imagelikeness of God should not dawn upon them |
| 4:5 |
For what we preach is not ourselves but Jesus Christ Jesus as Lord andwith ourselves as your servants for Jesus sake |
| 4:6 |
SeeingFor it is the God thatwho said LightLet shalllight shine out of darkness who shinedhas shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ |
| 4:7 |
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels to show that the exceedingtranscendent greatness of the power maybelongs beto of God and not fromto ourselves;us |
| 4:8 |
weWe are pressedafflicted onin every sideway yetbut not straitenedcrushed; perplexed yetbut not untodriven to despair; |
| 4:9 |
pursuedpersecuted yetbut not forsaken; smittenstruck down yetbut not destroyed; |
| 4:10 |
always bearingcarrying about in the body the dyingdeath of Jesus so that the life also of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodybodies |
| 4:11 |
For while we who live we are always deliveredbeing untogiven up to death for Jesus sake so that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh |
| 4:12 |
So then death workethis at work in us but life in you |
| 4:13 |
ButSince havingwe have the same spirit of faith accordingas tohe thathad whichwho iswrote written I believed and thereforeso did I speak;spoke we alsotoo believe and thereforeso also we speak; |
| 4:14 |
knowing that he thatwho raised up the Lord Jesus shallwill raise up us also with Jesus and shallbring present us with you into his presence |
| 4:15 |
For allit thingsis areall for your sakessake so that theas grace beingextends multipliedto throughmore theand manymore people it may causeincrease the thanksgiving to abound unto the glory of God |
| 4:16 |
WhereforeSo we faintdo not; butlose thoughheart Though our outwardouter mannature is decayingwasting yetaway our inwardinner mannature is being renewed dayevery by day |
| 4:17 |
For ourthis lightslight momentary affliction which is forpreparing the moment worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; beyond all comparison |
| 4:18 |
whilebecause we look not atto the things whichthat are seen but atto the things whichthat are notunseen; seen: for the things whichthat are seen are temporal;transient but the things whichthat are notunseen seen are eternal |
| 5:1 |
For we know that if the earthly housetent ofwe ourlive tabernaclein beis dissolveddestroyed we have a building from God a house not made with hands eternal in the heavens |
| 5:2 |
ForHere verilyindeed in this we groan longingand long to beput clothedon upon with our habitationheavenly whichdwelling is from heaven: |
| 5:3 |
if so be that beingby clothedputting it on we shallmay not be found naked |
| 5:4 |
For indeedwhile we that are still in this tabernacletent dowe groansigh beingwith burdenedanxiety; not for that we would be unclothed but that we would be further clothed uponso that what is mortal may be swallowed up ofby life |
| 5:5 |
NowHe hewho thathas wroughtprepared us for this very thing is God who gavehas untogiven us the earnestSpirit ofas thea Spirit guarantee |
| 5:6 |
BeingSo thereforewe are always of good courage; andwe knowingknow that whilstwhile we are at home in the body we are absentaway from the Lord |
| 5:7 |
for we walk by faith not by sight; |
| 5:8 |
weWe are of good courage I say and arewe willingwould rather to be absentaway from the body and to be at home with the Lord |
| 5:9 |
WhereforeSo alsowhether we makeare it our aim whether at home or absentaway towe bemake wellit pleasingour untoaim to please him |
| 5:10 |
For we must all beappear made manifest before the judgment seat of Christ; so that each one may receive thegood thingsor doneevil in the body according to what he hathhas done whetherin itthe be good or badbody |
| 5:11 |
KnowingTherefore thereforeknowing the fear of the Lord we persuade men; but what we are madeis manifestknown untoto God; and I hope thatit weis areknown made manifest also into your consciencesconscience |
| 5:12 |
We are not again commending ourselves untoto you again but speak as giving you occasioncause ofto gloryingbe onproud ourof behalfus so that yeyou may havebe wherewithable to answer themthose thatwho glorypride inthemselves appearanceon a mans position and not inon his heart |
| 5:13 |
For whetherif we are beside ourselves it is untofor God; orif whether we are ofin soberour right mind it is untofor you |
| 5:14 |
For the love of Christ constrainethcontrols us; because we thusare judgeconvinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died; |
| 5:15 |
andAnd he died for all that theythose thatwho live shouldmight live no longer livefor unto themselves but untofor him who for their sakessake died and rosewas again raised |
| 5:16 |
WhereforeFrom now on therefore we henceforthregard know no manone afterfrom thea flesh:human point of view; even though we haveonce knownregarded Christ afterfrom thea fleshhuman yetpoint nowof view we knowregard him sothus no morelonger |
| 5:17 |
WhereforeTherefore if any manone is in Christ he is a new creature:creation; the old thingshas are passed away; behold theythe arenew becomehas newcome |
| 5:18 |
ButAll allthis thingsis arefrom of God who through Christ reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave unto us the ministry of reconciliation; |
| 5:19 |
tothat witis thatin Christ God was in Christ reconciling the world untoto himself not reckoningcounting unto them their trespasses against them and havingentrusting committedto unto us the wordmessage of reconciliation |
| 5:20 |
WeSo we are ambassadors thereforefor on behalf of Christ asGod thoughmaking Godhis wereappeal entreatingthrough by us: weWe beseech you on behalf of Christ be ye reconciled to God |
| 5:21 |
HimFor whoour knewsake no sin he made him to be sin onwho ourknew behalf;no sin so that in him we might become the righteousness of God in him |
| 6:1 |
AndWorking working together with him then we entreat alsoyou thatnot yeto receiveaccept not the grace of God in vain |
| 6:2 |
forFor he saithsays At anthe acceptable time I hearkenedhave untolistened theeto Andyou inand ahelped you on the day of salvation didBehold I succor thee: behold now is the acceptable time; behold now is the day of salvation: |
| 6:3 |
givingWe put no occasionobstacle ofin stumblingany inones anythingway so that ourno ministrationfault may be notfound blamed;with our ministry |
| 6:4 |
but in everything commending ourselves as ministersservants of God inwe muchcommend patienceourselves in afflictionsevery inway: necessitiesthrough great endurance in distressesafflictions hardships calamities |
| 6:5 |
inbeatings stripes in imprisonments in tumults in labors inwatching watchings in fastingshunger; |
| 6:6 |
inby purenesspurity in knowledge inforbearance longsuffering in kindness in the Holy Spirit ingenuine love unfeigned |
| 6:7 |
intruthful thespeech wordand of truth in the power of God; bywith the armorweapons of righteousness onfor the right hand and onfor the left; |
| 6:8 |
byin gloryhonor and dishonor byin evilill reportrepute and good report;repute We are treated as deceiversimpostors and yet are true; |
| 6:9 |
as unknown and yet well known; as dying and behold we live; as chastenedpunished and yet not killed; |
| 6:10 |
as sorrowful yet always rejoicing; as poor yet making many rich; as having nothing and yet possessing all thingseverything |
| 6:11 |
Our mouth is open untoto you O Corinthians; our heart is enlargedwide |
| 6:12 |
YeYou are not straitenedrestricted inby us but yeyou are straitenedrestricted in your own affections |
| 6:13 |
NowIn for a recompense in like kind return—I speak as untoto my children—widen beyour yehearts also enlarged |
| 6:14 |
BeDo not unequallybe yokedmismated with unbelievers: forFor what fellowshippartnership have righteousness and iniquity orOr what communionfellowship hathhas light with darkness |
| 6:15 |
AndWhat whataccord concordhas hath Christ with BelialBe′lial orOr what portionhas hath a believer in common with an unbeliever |
| 6:16 |
AndWhat what agreement hathhas athe temple of God with idols forFor we are athe temple of the living God; even as God said I will dwelllive in them and walkmove inamong them; and I will be their God and they shall be my people |
| 6:17 |
WhereforeTherefore Comecome ye out from among them and be ye separate saithfrom them says the Lord Andand touch nonothing unclean thing; Andthen I will receivewelcome you |
| 6:18 |
Andand I will be a father to you aand Fatheryou And ye shall be tomy me sons and daughters saithsays the Lord Almighty |
| 7:1 |
HavingSince thereforewe have these promises beloved let us cleanse ourselves from allevery defilement of fleshbody and spirit perfectingand make holiness perfect in the fear of God |
| 7:2 |
Open your hearts to us:; we have wronged no manone we have corrupted no manone we tookhave taken advantage of no manone |
| 7:3 |
I do not say itthis not to condemn you: for I have said before that yeyou are in our hearts to die together and to live together |
| 7:4 |
GreatI ishave mygreat boldnessconfidence ofin speechyou; towardI youhave great ispride myin gloryingyou; on your behalf: I am filled with comfort IWith overflowall withour joyaffliction inI allam our afflictionoverjoyed |
| 7:5 |
For even when we werecame come into MacedoniaMacedo′nia our fleshbodies had no reliefrest but we were afflicted onat every side;turn—fighting without wereand fightingsfear within were fears |
| 7:6 |
NeverthelessBut heGod thatwho comfortethcomforts the lowlydowncast even God comforted us by the coming of Titus; |
| 7:7 |
and not only by his coming only but also by the comfort wherewithwith which he was comforted in you whileas he told us of your longing your mourning your zeal for me; so that I rejoiced yetstill more |
| 7:8 |
For thougheven if I made you sorry with my epistleletter I do not regret it: though I did regret it for I see that that epistleletter madegrieved you sorry though butonly for a seasonwhile |
| 7:9 |
As it is I now rejoice not thatbecause yeyou were madegrieved sorry but thatbecause yeyou were madegrieved sorryinto unto repentancerepenting; for yeyou werefelt made sorry after a godly sortgrief so that yeyou mightsuffered sufferno loss bythrough us in nothing |
| 7:10 |
For godly sorrowgrief workethproduces a repentance untothat salvationleads ato repentancesalvation whichand bringethbrings no regret: but theworldly sorrowgrief ofproduces the world worketh death |
| 7:11 |
For beholdsee thiswhat selfsameearnestness thingthis that ye were made sorry after a godly sortgrief whathas earnestproduced care it wrought in you yea what clearingeagerness ofto clear yourselves yea what indignation yea what fearalarm yea what longing yea what zeal yea what avengingpunishment InAt everythingevery yepoint approvedyou yourselveshave toproved beyourselves pureguiltless in the matter |
| 7:12 |
So although I wrote untoto you Iit wrotewas not foron hisaccount causeof thatthe one who did the wrong nor foron hisaccount causeof thatthe one who suffered the wrong but in order that your earnestzeal care for us might be maderevealed manifestto unto you in the sight of God |
| 7:13 |
Therefore we haveare been comforted: andAnd inbesides our own comfort we joyedrejoiced thestill more exceedinglyat for the joy of Titus because his spiritmind hathhas been refreshedset at rest by you all |
| 7:14 |
For if in anything I have gloriedexpressed to him onsome yourpride behalfin you I was not put to shame; but just as everything we spakesaid all things to you inwas truthtrue so our gloryingboasting also which I made before Titus washas foundproved totrue be truth |
| 7:15 |
And his affectionheart isgoes out all the more abundantlyto toward you whileas he rememberethremembers the obedience of you all howand withthe fear and trembling yewith which you received him |
| 7:16 |
I rejoice thatbecause in everything I amhave ofperfect goodconfidence couragein concerning you |
| 8:1 |
MoreoverWe brethrenwant weyou maketo knownknow tobrethren youabout the grace of God which hathhas been givenshown in the churches of Macedonia;Macedo′nia |
| 8:2 |
howfor that in mucha proofsevere test of affliction thetheir abundance of their joy and their deepextreme poverty aboundedhave untooverflowed thein richesa wealth of liberality on their liberalitypart |
| 8:3 |
For they gave according to their powermeans as I bearcan witnesstestify yea and beyond their powermeans they gave of their own accordfree will |
| 8:4 |
beseechingbegging us withearnestly muchfor entreatythe infavor regard of thistaking gracepart and the fellowship in the ministeringrelief toof the saints:— |
| 8:5 |
and this not as we hadexpected hoped but first they gave theirthemselves own selves to the Lord and to us throughby the will of God |
| 8:6 |
InsomuchAccordingly that we exhortedhave urged Titus that as he had already made a beginning before so he wouldshould also complete inamong you this gracegracious alsowork |
| 8:7 |
ButNow as yeyou aboundexcel in everything —in faith andin utterance andin knowledge and in all earnestness and in your love tofor us —see that yeyou aboundexcel in this gracegracious work also |
| 8:8 |
I speaksay this not byas waya ofcommand commandment but asto provingprove throughby the earnestness of others thethat sincerityyour love also ofis yourgenuine love |
| 8:9 |
For yeyou know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich yet for your sakessake he became poor so that yeby through his poverty you might become rich |
| 8:10 |
And hereinin this matter I give my judgmentadvice: forit this is expedientbest for you whonow were the first to makecomplete awhat beginning a year ago you began not only to do but also to willdesire |
| 8:11 |
Butso now complete the doing also; that asyour there was the readiness toin willdesiring soit there may be thematched completionby alsoyour completing it out of yourwhat abilityyou have |
| 8:12 |
For if the readiness is there it is acceptable according asto what a man hathhas not according asto what he hathhas not |
| 8:13 |
For I saydo not thismean that others mayshould be eased and yeyou distressed;burdened |
| 8:14 |
but bythat as a matter of equality: your abundance being a supply at thisthe present time forshould supply their want so that their abundance also may become a supply for your want; that there may be equality: |
| 8:15 |
asAs it is written He thatwho gathered much had nothing over; and he thatwho gathered little had no lack |
| 8:16 |
But thanks be to God who puttethputs the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus |
| 8:17 |
For he not only accepted indeed our exhortation;appeal but being himself very earnest he wentis forthgoing untoto you of his own accord |
| 8:18 |
AndWith him we haveare sentsending togetherthe withbrother himwho theis brotherfamous whoseamong praiseall in the gospelchurches isfor spreadhis throughpreaching allof the churchesgospel; |
| 8:19 |
and not only sothat but whohe washas alsobeen appointed by the churches to travel with us in thethis mattergracious ofwork this grace which iswe ministeredare bycarrying uson tofor the glory of the Lord and to show our readiness:good will |
| 8:20 |
avoidingWe thisintend that anyno manone should blame us inabout thethis matterliberal ofgift this bounty which iswe ministeredare byadministering us: |
| 8:21 |
for we takeaim thoughtat forwhat thingsis honorable not only in the Lords sight of the Lord but also in the sight of men |
| 8:22 |
And wewith havethem sentwe withare themsending our brother whom we have manyoften timestested provedand found earnest in many thingsmatters but who is now much more earnest bythan reasonever because of thehis great confidence which he hath in you |
| 8:23 |
WhetherAs anyfor inquire about Titus he is my partner and my fellow worker toin youyour wardservice; orand as for our brethren they are the messengers of the churches they are the glory of Christ |
| 8:24 |
ShowSo yegive thereforeproof untobefore them in the face of the churches the proof of your love and of our gloryingboasting onabout youryou behalfto these men |
| 9:1 |
ForNow as touching the ministering to the saints it is superfluous for me to write to you: about the offering for the saints |
| 9:2 |
for I know your readiness of which I gloryboast onabout youryou behalf to themthe people of MacedoniaMacedo′nia saying that AchaiaAcha′ia hathhas been preparedready forsince alast year past; and your zeal hathhas stirred up verymost many of them |
| 9:3 |
But I haveam sentsending the brethren so that our gloryingboasting onabout youryou behalf may not beprove madevain void in this respect;case so that evenyou may be ready as I said yeyou maywould be; prepared: |
| 9:4 |
lest byif anysome meansMacedo′nians if there come with me any of Macedonia and find that you unpreparedare wenot thatready we saybe nothumiliated—to yesay shouldnothing beof putyou—for tobeing shameso inconfident this confidence |
| 9:5 |
So I thought it necessary therefore to entreaturge the brethren thatto theygo wouldon goto you before untome you and makearrange upin beforehandadvance yourfor aforepromisedthis bountygift you have promised so that theit samemay might be ready not as aan matterexaction ofbut bountyas anda notwilling of extortiongift |
| 9:6 |
ButThe thispoint Iis saythis: Hehe thatwho sowethsows sparingly shallwill also reap also sparingly; and he thatwho sowethsows bountifully shallwill also reap also bountifully |
| 9:7 |
LetEach eachone manmust do according as he hathhas purposedmade inup his heart:mind not grudginglyreluctantly or ofunder necessity:compulsion for God lovethloves a cheerful giver |
| 9:8 |
And God is able to makeprovide allyou gracewith aboundevery untoblessing you;in abundance so that yeyou havingmay always allhave sufficiencyenough inof everything and may aboundprovide untoin abundance for every good work: |
| 9:9 |
asAs it is written He hathscatters scattered abroad he hathgives given to the poor; Hishis righteousness abidethendures for ever |
| 9:10 |
AndHe hewho thatsupplies supplieth seed to the sower and bread for food shallwill supply and multiply your seedresources for sowing and increase the fruitsharvest of your righteousness: |
| 9:11 |
yeYou beingwill be enriched in everythingevery untoway allfor liberalitygreat generosity which worketh through us will produce thanksgiving to God; |
