8:12 Then Solomon offered up burnt offerings untoto Jehovahthe onLord upon the altar of Jehovahthe Lord which he had built before the porchvestibule
8:13 even as the duty of everyeach day required offering according to the commandment of Moses onfor the sabbaths and on the new moons and on the set feasts three timesannual in feasts—the year even in the feast of unleavened bread and in the feast of weeks and in the feast of tabernacles
8:14 AndAccording he appointed according to the ordinance of David his father he appointed the coursesdivisions of the priests tofor their service and the Levites tofor their offices toof praise and toministry minister before the priests as the duty of everyeach day required; and the doorkeepersgatekeepers alsoin by their coursesdivisions atfor everythe gate:several gates; for so had David the man of God had commanded
8:15 And they departeddid not fromturn theaside commandmentfrom ofwhat the king untohad commanded the priests and Levites concerning any matter orand concerning the treasurestreasuries
8:16 NowThus was accomplished all the work of Solomon wasfrom prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of Jehovahthe andLord was laid until it was finished So the house of Jehovahthe Lord was completed
8:17 Then Solomon went Solomon to EzionE′zion geberge′ber and to Eloth on the shore of the sea shore in the land of Edom
8:18 And Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships and servants thatfamiliar hadwith knowledge of the sea; and they camewent to Ophir together with the servants of Solomon to Ophir and fetched from thencethere four hundred and fifty talents of gold and brought themit to kingKing Solomon
9:1 AndNow when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon she came to proveJerusalem Solomonto test him with hard questions athaving Jerusalem with a very great trainretinue and camels thatbearing bare spices and goldvery inmuch abundancegold and precious stones: andWhen when she wascame come to Solomon she communedtold with him of all that was inon her heartmind
9:2 And Solomon toldanswered her all her questions; and there was notnothing anythinghidden hid from Solomon which he toldcould not explain to her not
9:3 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon and the house that he had built
9:4 and the food of his table and the sittingseating of his servantsofficials and the attendance of his ministersservants and their apparelclothing his cupbearers also and their apparelclothing and his ascentburnt byofferings which he wentoffered upat unto the house of Jehovah;the Lord there was no more spirit in her
9:5 And she said to the king ItThe report was a true reportwhich that I heard in minemy own land of thineyour actsaffairs and of thyyour wisdom
9:6 Howbeitbut I believeddid not theirbelieve wordsthe reports until I came and minemy own eyes had seen it; and behold the half of the greatness of thyyour wisdom was not told me:; thouyou exceedestsurpass the famereport thatwhich I heard
9:7 Happy are thyyour menwives andHappy happy are these thyyour servants thatwho continually stand continually before theeyou and hear thyyour wisdom
9:8 Blessed be Jehovahthe thyLord your God who has delighted in theeyou toand set theeyou on his throne toas be king for Jehovahthe thyLord your God: becauseBecause thyyour God loved Israel toand would establish them for ever thereforehe has made heyou thee king over them tothat doyou may execute justice and righteousness
9:9 AndThen she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold and spicesa invery great abundancequantity of spices and precious stones: neitherthere waswere thereno anyspices such spice as those which the queen of Sheba gave to kingKing Solomon
9:10 AndMoreover the servants also of Huram and the servants of Solomon thatwho brought gold from Ophir brought algum treeswood and precious stones
9:11 And the king made of the algum treeswood terracessteps for the house of Jehovahthe Lord and for the kings house andlyres harpsalso and psalteriesharps for the singers:; and there werenever nonewas such seen the like of them before in the land of Judah
9:12 And kingKing Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all herthat desireshe whatsoeverdesired whatever she asked besides thatwhat which she had brought untoto the king So she turned and went back to her own land shewith and her servants
9:13 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescoresixty and six talents of gold
9:14 besides that which the traders and merchants brought:; and all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the countryland brought gold and silver to Solomon
9:15 AndKing king Solomon made two hundred bucklerslarge shields of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of beaten gold went tointo oneeach bucklershield
9:16 And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three hundred shekels of gold went tointo oneeach shield:; and the king put them in the houseHouse of the forestForest of Lebanon
9:17 MoreoverThe the king also made a great ivory throne of ivory and overlaid it with pure gold
9:18 AndThe therethrone werehad six steps toand the throne with a footstool of gold which were fastenedattached to the throne and stays on eithereach side byof the placeseat ofwere thearm seatrests and two lions standing beside the staysarm rests
9:19 Andwhile twelve lions stood there one on theeach oneend sideof anda step on the othersix uponsteps theThe sixlike steps:of thereit was notnever the like made in any kingdom
9:20 AndAll allKing king Solomons drinking vessels were of gold and all the vessels of the houseHouse of the forestForest of Lebanon were of pure gold:; silver was nothingnot accountedconsidered ofas anything in the days of Solomon
9:21 For the kingkings had ships that went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram; once every three years came the ships of Tarshish used to come bringing gold and silver ivory and apes and peacocks
9:22 SoThus kingKing Solomon exceededexcelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom
9:23 And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put ininto his heartmind
9:24 AndEvery theyone broughtof everythem manbrought his tributepresent vesselsarticles of silver and vessels of gold andgarments raimentmyrrh armor and spices horses and mules aso ratemuch year by year
9:25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots and twelve thousand horsemen thatwhom he bestowedstationed in the chariot cities and with the king atin Jerusalem
9:26 And he ruled over all the kings from the RiverEuphra′tes evento unto the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt
9:27 And the king made silver toas becommon in Jerusalem as stonesstone and cedarscedar madeas heplentiful to be as the sycomoresycamore treesof that are in the lowlandShephe′lah for abundance
9:28 And theyhorses broughtwere horsesimported for Solomon outfrom of Egypt and outfrom of all lands
9:29 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon from first andto last are they not written in the history of Nathan the prophet and in the prophecy of AhijahAhi′jah the ShiloniteShi′lonite and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning JeroboamJerobo′am the son of Nebat
9:30 And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years
9:31 And Solomon slept with his fathers and he was buried in the city of David his father:; and RehoboamRehobo′am his son reigned in his stead
10:1 AndRehobo′am Rehoboam went to Shechem; for all Israel werehad come to Shechem to make him king
10:2 And it came to pass when JeroboamJerobo′am the son of Nebat heard of it for he was in Egypt whither he had fled from theKing presence of king Solomon thatthen JeroboamJerobo′am returned outfrom of Egypt
10:3 And they sent and called him; and JeroboamJerobo′am and all Israel came and theysaid spake to RehoboamRehobo′am saying
10:4 ThyYour father made our yoke grievous:heavy nowNow therefore makelighten thou the grievoushard service of thyyour father and his heavy yoke which he put upon us lighter and we will serve theeyou
10:5 AndHe he said untoto them Come againto unto me afteragain in three days AndSo the people departedwent away
10:6 AndThen kingKing RehoboamRehobo′am took counsel with the old men thatwho had stood before Solomon his father while he was yet livedalive saying WhatHow counseldo giveyou yeadvise me to return answer to this people
10:7 And they spakesaid untoto him saying If thouyou will be kind to this people and please them and speak good words to them then they will be thyyour servants for ever
10:8 But he forsook the counsel ofwhich the old men whichgave they had given him and took counsel with the young men thatwho werehad grown up with him thatand stood before him
10:9 And he said untoto them What counseldo giveyou yeadvise that we may return answer to this people who have spokensaid to me sayingLighten Make the yoke that thyyour father did put upon us lighter
10:10 And the young men thatwho werehad grown up with him spakesaid untoto him saying Thus shaltshall thouyou sayspeak untoto the people thatwho spakesaid untoto theeyou sayingYour Thy father made our yoke heavy but makedo thouyou lighten it lighterfor unto us; thus shaltshall thouyou say untoto them My little finger is thicker than my fathers loins
10:11 And now whereas my father didlaid ladeupon you with a heavy yoke I will add to your yoke: myMy father chastised you with whips but I will chastise you with scorpions
10:12 So JeroboamJerobo′am and all the people came to RehoboamRehobo′am the third day as the king badesaid saying Come to me again the third day
10:13 And the king answered them roughly;harshly and kingforsaking Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men
10:14 andKing spakeRehobo′am spoke to them afteraccording to the counsel of the young men saying My father made your yoke heavy but I will add thereto:to it; my father chastised you with whips but I will chastise you with scorpions
10:15 So the king hearkeneddid not untohearken to the people; for it was a turn of affairs brought about ofby God that Jehovahthe Lord might establishfulfil his word which he spakespoke by AhijahAhi′jah the ShiloniteShi′lonite to JeroboamJerobo′am the son of Nebat
10:16 And when all Israel saw that the king hearkeneddid not untohearken to them the people answered the king saying What portion have we in David neitherWe have weno inheritance in the son of Jesse: everyEach manof you to your tents O Israel: Look now see to thineyour own house David So all Israel departed untoto their tents
10:17 But asRehobo′am forreigned over the childrenpeople of Israel thatwho dwelt in the cities of Judah Rehoboam reigned over them
10:18 Then kingKing RehoboamRehobo′am sent HadoramHador′am who was taskmaster over the menforced subjectlabor to taskwork; and the childrenpeople of Israel stoned him to death with stones And kingKing RehoboamRehobo′am made speedhaste to getmount him up to his chariot to flee to Jerusalem
10:19 So Israel rebelledhas been in rebellion against the house of David untoto this day
11:1 AndWhen whenRehobo′am Rehoboamcame was come to Jerusalem he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin a hundred and fourscoreeighty thousand chosen men that were warriors to fight against Israel to bringrestore the kingdom again to RehoboamRehobo′am
11:2 But the word of Jehovahthe Lord came to ShemaiahShemai′ah the man of God: saying
11:3 SpeakSay untoto RehoboamRehobo′am the son of Solomon king of Judah and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin saying
11:4 Thus saithsays Jehovahthe YeLord You shall not go up noror fight against your brethren: returnReturn every man to his house;home for this thing is offrom me So they hearkened untoto the wordsword of Jehovahthe Lord and returned fromand goingdid not go against JeroboamJerobo′am
11:5 AndRehobo′am Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem and he built cities for defencedefense in Judah
11:6 He built BethBethlehem lehem and Etam andTeko′a Tekoa
11:7 And Beth zur and Soco and Adullam
11:8 and Gath andMare′shah Mareshah and Ziph
11:9 andAdora′im Adoraim and Lachish andAze′kah Azekah
11:10 and Zorah andAi′jalon Aijalon and Hebron fortified cities which are in Judah and in Benjamin fortified cities
11:11 AndHe hemade fortified the strongholdsfortresses strong and put captainscommanders in them and stores of victualsfood and oil and wine
11:12 And in every city he put shields and spears in all the cities and made them exceedingvery strong AndSo he held Judah and Benjamin belonged to him
11:13 And the priests and the Levites that were in all Israel resorted to him outfrom of all theirplaces borderwhere they lived
11:14 For the Levites left their suburbscommon lands and their possessionholdings and came to Judah and Jerusalem: forbecause JeroboamJerobo′am and his sons cast them offout thatfrom theyserving shouldas notpriests executeof the priestsLord office unto Jehovah;
11:15 and he appointed himhis own priests for the high places and for the hesatyrs goats and for the calves which he had made
11:16 And afterthose themwho outhad ofset alltheir hearts to seek the tribesLord God of Israel suchcame asafter setthem theirfrom heartsall to seek Jehovah the Godtribes of Israel came to Jerusalem to sacrifice untoto Jehovahthe Lord the God of their fathers
11:17 SoThey they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and for three years they made RehoboamRehobo′am the son of Solomon strongsecure three years; for they walked for three years in the way of David and Solomon
11:18 AndRehobo′am Rehoboam took himas a wife MahalathMa′halath the daughter of JerimothJer′imoth the son of David and of AbihailAb′ihail the daughter of EliabEli′ab the son of Jesse;
11:19 and she barebore him sons: JeushJe′ush andShemari′ah Shemariah and Zaham
11:20 AndAfter after her he took MaacahMa′acah the daughter of Absalom;Ab′salom andwho shebore bare him AbijahAbi′jah and Attai and Ziza and ShelomithShelo′mith
11:21 AndRehobo′am Rehoboam loved MaacahMa′acah the daughter of AbsalomAb′salom above all his wives and his concubines for he took eighteen wives and threescoresixty concubines and begathad twenty and eight sons and threescoresixty daughters;
11:22 Andand RehoboamRehobo′am appointed AbijahAbi′jah the son of MaacahMa′acah toas be chief even the prince among his brethren;brothers for he wasintended minded to make him king
11:23 And he dealt wisely and disperseddistributed some of all his sons throughoutthrough all the landsdistricts of Judah and Benjamin untoin everyall the fortified city:cities; and he gave them victualsabundant inprovisions abundanceand Andprocured hewives sought for them many wives
12:1 AndWhen it came to pass when the kingdomrule of RehoboamRehobo′am was established and he was strong that he forsook the law of Jehovahthe Lord and all Israel with him
12:2 AndIn itthe camefifth toyear passof inKing theRehobo′am fifthbecause yearthey ofhad kingbeen Rehoboamunfaithful thatto the Lord Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem because they had trespassed against Jehovah
12:3 with twelve hundred chariots and threescoresixty thousand horsemen And the people were without number thatwho came with him outfrom of Egypt:—Libyans theSuk′ki Lubimim the Sukkiim and the Ethiopians
12:4 And he took the fortified cities whichof pertained to Judah and came untoas far as Jerusalem
12:5 NowThen ShemaiahShemai′ah the prophet came to RehoboamRehobo′am and to the princes of Judah thatwho werehad gathered togetherat to Jerusalem because of Shishak and said untoto them Thus saithsays Jehovahthe YeLord haveYou forsakenabandoned me thereforeso have I alsohave leftabandoned you into the hand of Shishak
12:6 Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said JehovahThe Lord is righteous
12:7 AndWhen whenthe JehovahLord saw that they humbled themselves the word of Jehovahthe Lord came to ShemaiahShemai′ah: saying They have humbled themselves:; I will not destroy them; but I will grant them some deliverance and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak
12:8 Nevertheless they shall be his servants to him that they may know my service and the service of the kingdoms of the countries
12:9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem; andhe took away the treasures of the house of Jehovahthe Lord and the treasures of the kings house:; he took all away: heeverything He also took away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made;
12:10 Andand kingKing RehoboamRehobo′am made in their stead shields of brassbronze and committed them to the hands of the captainsofficers of the guard thatwho kept the door of the kings house
12:11 And it was so that as oftoften as the king enteredwent into the house of Jehovahthe Lord the guard came and barebore them and brought them back intoto the guardguardroom chamber
12:12 And when he humbled himself the wrath of Jehovahthe Lord turned from him so as not to destroymake hima altogether:complete anddestruction; moreover inconditions Judah there were good thingsin foundJudah
12:13 So kingKing RehoboamRehobo′am strengthenedestablished himself in Jerusalem and reigned: forRehobo′am Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem the city which Jehovahthe Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there: andHis his mothers name was NaamahNa′amah the Ammonitess
12:14 And he did that which was evil becausefor he setdid not set his heart to seek Jehovahthe Lord
12:15 Now the acts of RehoboamRehobo′am from first andto last are they not written in the historieschronicles of ShemaiahShemai′ah the prophet and of Iddo the seer afterThere thewere mannercontinual of genealogies And there were wars between RehoboamRehobo′am and JeroboamJerobo′am continually
12:16 And RehoboamRehobo′am slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David:; and AbijahAbi′jah his son reigned in his stead
13:1 In the eighteenth year of kingKing JeroboamJerobo′am Abi′jah began Abijah to reign over Judah
13:2 ThreeHe years reigned hefor three years in Jerusalem: andHis his mothers name was MicaiahMicai′ah the daughter of UrielU′riel of GibeahGib′eah AndNow there was war between AbijahAbi′jah and JeroboamJerobo′am
13:3 AndAbi′jah Abijahwent joinedout to battle withhaving an army of valiant men of war even four hundred thousand chosenpicked men:; and JeroboamJerobo′am setdrew theup battlehis inline arrayof battle against him with eight hundred thousand chosenpicked men who were mighty menwarriors of valor
13:4 AndThen AbijahAbi′jah stood up uponon mountMount ZemaraimZemara′im which is in the hill country of EphraimE′phraim and said Hear me O JeroboamJerobo′am and all Israel:
13:5 Ought yeyou not to know that Jehovah the Lord God of Israel gave the kingdomkingship over Israel to David for ever even to himDavid and to his sons by a covenant of salt
13:6 Yet JeroboamJerobo′am the son of Nebat thea servant of Solomon the son of David rose up and rebelled against his lord;
13:7 Andand therecertain wereworthless scoundrels gathered untoabout him worthlessand mendefied baseRehobo′am fellows that strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon when RehoboamRehobo′am was young and tenderirresolute hearted and could not withstand them
13:8 And now yeyou think to withstand the kingdom of Jehovahthe Lord in the hand of the sons of David; andbecause yeyou are a great multitude and therehave are with you the golden calves which JeroboamJerobo′am made you for gods
13:9 Have yeyou not driven out the priests of Jehovahthe Lord the sons of Aaron and the Levites and made you priests afterfor theyourselves mannerlike of the peoples of other lands soWhoever thatcomes whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullockbull andor seven rams thebecomes same may be a priest of themwhat that are no gods
13:10 But as for us Jehovahthe Lord is our God and we have not forsaken him; andWe we have priests ministering untoto Jehovah the Lord who are sons of Aaron and the Levites infor their work:service
13:11 andThey theyoffer burnto untothe JehovahLord every morning and every evening burnt offerings and sweet incense: theof showbreadsweet alsospices set theyout inthe ordershowbread uponon the table of pure table;gold and care for the candlestickgolden oflampstand goldthat withits the lamps thereofmay to burn every evening:; for we keep the charge of Jehovahthe Lord our God; but yeyou have forsaken him
13:12 AndBehold behold God is with us at our head and his priests with thetheir battle trumpets of alarm to sound anthe alarmcall to battle against you O childrensons of Israel fightdo ye not fight against Jehovahthe Lord the God of your fathers; for yeyou shallcannot not prospersucceed
13:13 ButJerobo′am Jeroboamhad causedsent an ambushmentambush around to come abouton them from behind; them:thus sohis theytroops were beforein front of Judah and the ambushmentambush was behind them
13:14 And when Judah looked back behold the battle was before and behind them; and they cried untoto Jehovahthe Lord and the priests soundedblew with the trumpets
13:15 Then the men of Judah gaveraised athe battle shout: andAnd aswhen the men of Judah shouted it came to pass that God smotedefeated JeroboamJerobo′am and all Israel before AbijahAbi′jah and Judah
13:16 AndThe themen children of Israel fled before Judah; and God deliveredgave them into their hand
13:17 AndAbi′jah Abijah and his people slew them with a great slaughter:; so there fell down slain of Israel five hundred thousand chosenpicked men
13:18 Thus the childrenmen of Israel were broughtsubdued under at that time and the childrenmen of Judah prevailed because they relied upon Jehovahthe Lord the God of their fathers
13:19 And AbijahAbi′jah pursued afterJerobo′am Jeroboam and took cities from him BethBethel el with theits townsvillages thereof and JeshanahJesha′nah with theits townsvillages thereof and Ephron with theits townsvillages thereof
13:20 NeitherJerobo′am did Jeroboamnot recover strengthhis againpower in the days of Abijah:Abi′jah; and Jehovahthe Lord smote him and he died
13:21 But AbijahAbi′jah waxedgrew mighty andAnd he took unto himself fourteen wives and begathad twenty and two sons and sixteen daughters
13:22 AndThe the rest of the acts of AbijahAbi′jah and his ways and his sayings are written in the commentarystory of the prophet Iddo
14:1 So AbijahAbi′jah slept with his fathers and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his stead In his days the land washad quietrest for ten years
14:2 And Asa did thatwhat which was good and right in the eyes of Jehovahthe Lord his God:
14:3 forHe he took away the foreign altars and the high places and brakebroke down the pillars and hewed down the AsherimAshe′rim
14:4 and commanded Judah to seek Jehovahthe Lord the God of their fathers and to dokeep the law and the commandment
14:5 AlsoHe healso took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sunincense images:altars andAnd the kingdom washad quietrest beforeunder him
14:6 AndHe he built fortified cities in Judah; for the land washad quietrest andHe he had no war in those years becausefor Jehovahthe hadLord givengave him restpeace
14:7 ForAnd he said untoto Judah Let us build these cities and makesurround about them with walls and towers gates and bars; the land is yetstill beforeours us because we have sought Jehovahthe Lord our God; we have sought him and he hathhas given us restpeace on every side So they built and prospered
14:8 And Asa had an army thatof barethree hundred thousand from Judah armed with bucklers and spears outand oftwo Judahhundred threeand hundredeighty thousand; andmen outfrom of Benjamin that barecarried shields and drew bows; two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valor
14:9 AndZerah therethe Ethiopian came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an army of a thousandmillion thousandmen and three hundred chariots; and he came untoas Mareshahfar as Mare′shah
14:10 ThenAnd Asa went out to meet him and they setdrew theup battletheir inlines arrayof battle in the valley of ZephathahZeph′athah at MareshahMare′shah
14:11 And Asa cried untoto Jehovahthe Lord his God andO saidLord Jehovah there is none besideslike thee to help between the mighty and himthe thatweak hathHelp no strength: help us O JehovahLord our God; for we rely on thee and in thy name are we have come against this multitude O JehovahLord thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee
14:12 So Jehovahthe smoteLord defeated the Ethiopians before Asa and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled
14:13 And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them untoas far as Gerar: and there fell of the Ethiopians sofell manyuntil thatnone theyremained could not recover themselvesalive; for they were destroyedbroken before Jehovahthe Lord and before his host;army andThe theymen of Judah carried away very much booty
14:14 And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of Jehovahthe cameLord was upon them: andThey theyplundered despoiled all the cities; for there was much spoilplunder in them
14:15 TheyAnd they smote also the tents of those who had cattle and carried away sheep in abundance and camels andThen they returned to Jerusalem
15:1 AndThe the Spirit of God came upon AzariahAzari′ah the son of Oded:
15:2 and he went out to meet Asa and said untoto him Hear ye me Asa and all Judah and Benjamin: JehovahThe Lord is with you while yeyou are with him; andIf ifyou ye seek him he will be found ofby you; but if yeyou forsake him he will forsake you
15:3 NowFor for a long seasontime Israel was without the true God and without a teaching priest and without law:;
15:4 but when in their distress they turned untoto Jehovahthe Lord the God of Israel and sought him he was found ofby them
15:5 AndIn in those times there was no peace to him thatwho went out noror to him thatwho came in; butfor great vexationsdisturbances wereafflicted upon all the inhabitants of the lands
15:6 AndThey they were broken in pieces nation against nation and city against city; for God didtroubled vex them with allevery adversitysort of distress
15:7 But beyou yetake strongcourage andDo not let notyou your hands be slack;weak for your work shall be rewarded
15:8 AndWhen when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of OdedAzari′ah the prophetson of Oded he took courage and put away the abominationsabominable outidols offrom all the land of Judah and Benjamin and outfrom of the cities which he had taken fromin the hill country of Ephraim;E′phraim and he renewedrepaired the altar of Jehovahthe Lord that was beforein front of the porchvestibule of Jehovahthe house of the Lord
15:9 And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin and themthose thatfrom sojournedE′phraim withManas′seh themand outSimeon ofwho Ephraimwere andsojourning Manassehwith andthem outfor ofgreat Simeon:numbers forhad theydeserted fell to him outfrom of Israel in abundance when they saw that Jehovahthe Lord his God was with him
15:10 SoThey theywere gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month inof the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa
15:11 AndThey they sacrificed untoto Jehovahthe inLord on that day offrom the spoil which they had brought seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep
15:12 And they entered into thea covenant to seek Jehovahthe Lord the God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
15:13 and that whosoeverwhoever would not seek Jehovahthe Lord the God of Israel should be put to death whether smallyoung or greatold whether man or woman
15:14 AndThey theytook swareoath untoto Jehovahthe Lord with a loud voice and with shouting and with trumpets and with cornetshorns
15:15 And all Judah rejoiced atover the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart and had sought him with their whole desire; and he was found ofby them: and Jehovahthe Lord gave them rest round about
15:16 AndEven alsoMa′acah Maacahhis the mother ofKing Asa the king he removed from being queen mother because she had made an abominable image for anAshe′rah Asherah; and Asa cut down her image andcrushed made dust of it and burntburned it at the brook Kidron
15:17 But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: neverthelessNevertheless the heart of Asa was perfectblameless all his days
15:18 And he brought into the house of God the thingsvotive thatgifts of his father had dedicated and thathis heown himselfvotive hadgifts dedicated silver and gold and vessels
15:19 And there was no more war untountil the fivethirty andfifth thirtieth year of the reign of Asa
16:1 In the sixthirty andsixth thirtieth year of the reign of Asa BaashaBa′asha king of Israel went up against Judah and built Ramah that he might notpermit sufferno any one to go out or come in to Asa king of Judah
16:2 Then Asa broughttook out silver and gold outfrom of the treasures of the house of Jehovahthe Lord and of the kings house and sent them to Ben hadadha′dad king of Syria thatwho dwelt atin Damascus saying
16:3 ThereLet isthere be a league between me and theeyou as there was between my father and thyyour father:; behold I haveam sentsending theeto you silver and gold; go break thyyour league with BaashaBa′asha king of Israel that he may departwithdraw from me
16:4 And Ben hadadha′dad hearkened untoto kingKing Asa and sent the captainscommanders of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smoteconquered IjonI′jon and Dan andA′bel Abelma′im maim and all the store cities of NaphtaliNaph′tali
16:5 And it came to pass when BaashaBa′asha heard thereofof thatit he leftstopped off building Ramah and let his work cease
16:6 Then King Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah and theits timber thereofwith wherewithwhich BaashaBa′asha had builded;been building and with them he built therewith Geba and Mizpah
16:7 AndAt at that time HananiHana′ni the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said untoto him Because thouyou hast relied on the king of Syria and hastdid not reliedrely on Jehovahthe thyLord your God therefore is the hostarmy of the king of Syria has escaped outyou of thy hand

23:15 So they madelaid wayhands foron her; and she went tointo the entrance of the horse gate toof the kings house: and they slew her there
23:16 And JehoiadaJehoi′ada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king that they should be Jehovahsthe Lords people
23:17 AndThen all the people went to the house of BaalBa′al and braketore it down; and brake his altars and his images they broke in pieces and they slew Mattan the priest of BaalBa′al before the altars
23:18 And JehoiadaJehoi′ada appointedposted thewatchmen officersfor of the house of Jehovahthe Lord under the handdirection of the Levitical priests and the Levites whom David had distributedorganized to be in charge of the house of Jehovahthe Lord to offer the burnt offerings ofto Jehovahthe Lord as it is written in the law of Moses with rejoicing and with singing according to the order of David

23:21 So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet Andafter AthaliahAthali′ah they had been slain with the sword
24:1 JoashJo′ash was seven years old when he began to reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem:; and his mothers name was ZibiahZib′iah of Beer sheba
24:2 And JoashJo′ash did thatwhat which was right in the eyes of Jehovahthe Lord all the days of JehoiadaJehoi′ada the priest
24:3 AndJehoi′ada Jehoiadagot took for him two wives; and he begathad sons and daughters
24:4 AndAfter it came to pass after this thatJo′ash Joashdecided was minded to restore the house of Jehovahthe Lord
24:5 And he gathered together the priests and the Levites and said to them Go out untoto the cities of Judah and gather offrom all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year; and see that yeyou hasten the matter HowbeitBut the Levites hasteneddid not hasten it not
24:6 AndSo the king calledsummoned forJehoi′ada Jehoiada the chief and said untoto him Why hasthave thouyou not required of the Levites to bring in outfrom of Judah and out of Jerusalem the tax oflevied by Moses the servant of Jehovahthe andLord ofon the assemblycongregation of Israel for the tent of the testimony
24:7 For the sons of AthaliahAthali′ah that wicked woman had broken upinto the house of God; and had also used all the dedicated things of the house of Jehovahthe didLord theyfor bestow upon the BaalimBa′als
24:8 So the king commanded and they made a chest and set it withoutoutside at the gate of the house of Jehovahthe Lord
24:9 And theyproclamation was made athroughout proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem to bring in for Jehovahthe Lord the tax that Moses the servant of God laid upon Israel in the wilderness
24:10 And all the princes and all the people rejoiced and brought intheir tax and castdropped it into the chest until they had madefinished an end
24:11 And itwhenever was so that at what time the chest was brought untoto the kings officers by the hand of the Levites and when they saw that there was much money in it the kings scribesecretary and the officer of the chief priestspriest officerwould camecome and emptiedempty the chest and tooktake it and carriedreturn it to its place again Thus they did day byafter day and gatheredcollected money in abundance
24:12 And the king and JehoiadaJehoi′ada gave it to suchthose aswho didhad thecharge work of the servicework of the house of Jehovah;the Lord and they hired masons and carpenters to restore the house of Jehovahthe Lord and also suchworkers asin wrought iron and brassbronze to repair the house of Jehovahthe Lord
24:13 So thethose workmenwho wroughtwere andengaged in the work oflabored and the repairing went forward in their hands and they setrestored up the house of God into its stateproper condition and strengthened it
24:14 And when they had madefinished an end they brought the rest of the money before the king and JehoiadaJehoi′ada whereofand with it were made vesselsutensils for the house of Jehovahthe evenLord vesselsboth wherewithfor tothe ministerservice and tofor offerthe burnt offerings and spoonsdishes for incense and vessels of gold and silver And they offered burnt offerings in the house of Jehovahthe Lord continually all the days of JehoiadaJehoi′ada
24:15 But JehoiadaJehoi′ada waxedgrew old and was full of days and he died; he was a hundred and thirty years old wasat hehis whendeath he died
24:17 Now after the death of JehoiadaJehoi′ada came the princes of Judah came and madedid obeisance to the king; Thenthen the king hearkenedharkened untoto them
24:18 And they forsook the house of Jehovahthe Lord the God of their fathers and served the AsherimAshe′rim and the idols: andAnd wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their guiltinessguilt
24:19 Yet he sent prophets toamong them to bring them againback untoto Jehovahthe Lord; andthese they testified against them: but they would not give earheed
24:20 AndThen the Spirit of God cametook uponpossession Zechariahof Zechari′ah the son of JehoiadaJehoi′ada the priest; and he stood above the people and said untoto them Thus saithsays God Why do you transgress ye the commandments of Jehovahthe Lord so that yeyou cannot prosper becauseBecause yeyou have forsaken Jehovahthe Lord he hathhas also forsaken you
24:21 AndBut they conspired against him and stonedby himcommand withof stonesthe atking thethey commandmentstoned ofhim thewith kingstones in the court of the house of Jehovahthe Lord
24:22 Thus JoashJo′ash the king remembereddid not remember the kindness which JehoiadaJehoi′ada hisZechari′ahs father had doneshown to him but slewkilled his son And when he diedwas dying he said JehovahMay lookthe uponLord itsee and require itavenge
24:23 AndAt it came to pass at the end of the year that the army of the Syrians came up against him:Jo′ash andThey they came to Judah and Jerusalem and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people and sent all thetheir spoil ofto them unto the king of Damascus
24:24 ForThough the army of the Syrians camehad come with afew smallmen companythe ofLord men;delivered andinto Jehovahtheir deliveredhand a very great hostarmy into their hand because they had forsaken Jehovahthe Lord the God of their fathers SoThus they executed judgment uponon JoashJo′ash
24:25 AndWhen when they werehad departed from him forleaving they left him veryseverely sickwounded his own servants conspired against him forbecause of the blood of the sonsson of JehoiadaJehoi′ada the priest and slew him on his bed andSo he died; and they buried him in the city of David but they burieddid not bury him not in the sepulchrestombs of the kings
24:26 AndThose thesewho are they that conspired against him: were Zabad the son of ShimeathShim′e ath the Ammonitess and JehozabadJeho′zabad the son of Shimrith the Moabitess
24:27 NowAccounts concerningof his sons and the greatness of the burdensmany laidoracles uponagainst him and of the rebuilding of the house of God behold they are written in the commentaryCommentary ofon the bookBook of the kingsKings And AmaziahAmazi′ah his son reigned in his stead
25:1 AmaziahAmazi′ah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: andHis his mothers name was JehoaddanJeho ad′dan of Jerusalem
25:2 And he did thatwhat which was right in the eyes of Jehovahthe butLord yet not with a perfectblameless heart
25:3 NowAnd itas camesoon toas passthe whenroyal thepower kingdom was establishedfirmly untoin himhis thathand he slewkilled his servants thatwho had killedslain the king his father
25:4 But he putdid not put their children to death but did according to thatwhat which is written in the law in the book of Moses aswhere Jehovahthe Lord commanded saying The fathers shall not diebe put to death for the children neitheror shall the children diebe put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin
25:5 MoreoverThen AmaziahAmazi′ah gatheredassembled the men of Judah together and orderedset them accordingby to their fathers houses under captainscommanders of thousands and captains of hundreds evenfor all Judah and Benjamin: andHe hemustered numberedthose them from twenty years old and upward and found themthat they were three hundred thousand chosenpicked men ablefit tofor gowar forthable to war that could handle spear and shield
25:6 He hired also a hundred thousand mighty men of valor outfrom of Israel for a hundred talents of silver
25:7 But there came a man of God came to him sayingand said O king letdo not let the army of Israel go with thee;you for Jehovahthe Lord is not with Israel to wit with all thethese childrenE′phraimites of Ephraim
25:8 But if thouyou wiltsuppose gothat doin valiantlythis way you will be strong for thewar battle: God will cast theeyou down before the enemy; for God hathhas power to help andor to cast down
25:9 And AmaziahAmazi′ah said to the man of God But what shall we do forabout the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel AndThe the man of God answered JehovahThe Lord is able to give theeyou much more than this
25:10 Then AmaziahAmazi′ah separateddischarged them to wit the army that washad come to him outfrom ofE′phraim Ephraim to go home again: whereforeAnd theirthey angerbecame wasvery greatlyangry kindledwith against Judah and they returned home in fierce anger

25:14 NowAfter itAmazi′ah came to pass after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the EdomitesE′domites that he brought the gods of the childrenmen of SeirSe′ir and set them up toas be his gods and bowedworshiped down himself before them andmaking burnedofferings incenseto unto them
25:15 WhereforeTherefore the angerLord of Jehovah was kindledangry againstwith AmaziahAmazi′ah and he sent untoto him a prophet who said untoto him Why hasthave thouyou soughtresorted afterto the gods of thea people which havedid not delivereddeliver their own people outfrom ofyour thy hand
25:16 AndBut it came to pass as he talkedwas withspeaking him that the king said untoto him Have we made theeyou ofa theroyal kingscounselor counselStop forbear; Why whyshould shouldestyou thou be smittenput Thento death So the prophet forbarestopped andbut said I know that God hathhas determined to destroy theeyou because thouyou hasthave done this and hasthave not hearkenedlistened untoto my counsel
25:17 Then AmaziahAmazi′ah king of Judah took advicecounsel and sent to JoashJo′ash the son of JehoahazJeho′ahaz the son of Jehu king of Israel saying Come let us look one another in the face
25:18 And JoashJo′ash the king of Israel sent word to AmaziahAmazi′ah king of Judah sayingA The thistle thaton was in Lebanon sent to thea cedar thaton was in Lebanon saying Give thyyour daughter to my son tofor a wife:; and there passed by a wild beast thatof wasLebanon inpassed Lebanonby and trodtrampled down the thistle
25:19 ThouYou sayestsay LoSee thouI hasthave smitten Edom; and thyyour heart liftethhas theelifted you up toin boast:boastfulness abideBut now stay at home; why shouldestshould thouyou meddleprovoke totrouble thyso hurt that thouyou shouldest fall evenyou thou and Judah with theeyou
25:20 But AmaziahAmazi′ah would not hearlisten; for it was of God in order that he might delivergive them into the hand of their enemies because they had sought after the gods of Edom
25:21 So JoashJo′ash king of Israel went up; and he and AmaziahAmazi′ah king of Judah lookedfaced one another in thebattle face at Beth shemeshshe′mesh which belongethbelongs to Judah
25:22 And Judah was putdefeated toby the worse before Israel; and they fled every man fled to his tenthome
25:23 And JoashJo′ash king of Israel tookcaptured AmaziahAmazi′ah king of Judah the son of JoashJo′ash the son of JehoahazAhazi′ah at Beth shemeshshe′mesh and brought him to Jerusalem and brakebroke down the wall of Jerusalem fromfor thefour gatehundred ofcubits Ephraimfrom unto the cornerE′phraim gateGate fourto hundredthe cubitsCorner Gate
25:24 And he tookseized all the gold and silver and all the vessels that were found in the house of God and O′bed e′dom with Obedthem; edomhe andseized also the treasurestreasuries of the kings house theand hostages also and he returned to SamariaSamar′ia
25:25 AndAmazi′ah Amaziah the son of JoashJo′ash king of Judah lived fifteen years after the death of JoashJo′ash the son of JehoahazJeho′ahaz king of Israel fifteen years

29:13 and of the sons of ElizaphanEli za′phan Shimri and JeuelJeu′el; and of the sons of Asaph ZechariahZechari′ah and MattaniahMattani′ah;
29:14 and of the sons of Heman JehuelJehu′el and ShimeiShim′e i; and of the sons of JeduthunJedu′thun ShemaiahShemai′ah and UzzielUz′ziel
29:15 AndThey they gathered their brethren and sanctified themselves and went in accordingas to the commandmentking ofhad thecommanded king by the words of Jehovahthe Lord to cleanse the house of Jehovahthe Lord
29:16 AndThe the priests went ininto unto the inner part of the house of Jehovahthe Lord to cleanse it and they brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of Jehovahthe Lord into the court of the house of Jehovahthe AndLord; and the Levites took it toand carrycarried it out abroad to the brook Kidron
29:17 NowThey they began to sanctify on the first day of the first month to sanctify and on the eighth day of the month they came they to the porchvestibule of Jehovahthe Lord; andthen for eight days they sanctified the house of Jehovahthe inLord eight days: and on the sixteenth day of the first month they madefinished an end
29:18 Then they went in to HezekiahHezeki′ah the king within the palace and said We have cleansed all the house of Jehovahthe andLord the altar of burnt offering withand all theits vesselsutensils thereof and the table offor the showbread withand all theits vesselsutensils thereof
29:19 MoreoverAll all the vesselsutensils which kingKing Ahaz discarded in his reign did cast away when he trespassedwas havefaithless we preparedhave made ready and sanctified; and behold they are before the altar of Jehovahthe Lord
29:20 Then HezekiahHezeki′ah the king aroserose early and gathered the princesofficials of the city and went up to the house of Jehovahthe Lord
29:21 And they brought seven bullocksbulls and seven rams and seven lambs and seven he goats for a sin offering for the kingdom and for the sanctuary and for Judah And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of Jehovahthe Lord
29:22 So they killed the bullocksbulls and the priests received the blood and sprinkledthrew it onagainst the altar:; and they killed the rams and sprinkledtheir the blood uponwas thrown against the altar:; and they killed also the lambs and sprinkledtheir the blood uponwas thrown against the altar
29:23 AndThen they brought near the he goats for the sin offering beforewere brought to the king and the assembly; and they laid their hands upon them:
29:24 and the priests killed them and they made a sin offering with their blood uponon the altar to make atonement for all Israel; forFor the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel
29:25 And he setstationed the Levites in the house of Jehovahthe Lord with cymbals withharps psalteries and withlyres harps according to the commandment of David and of Gad the kings seer and of Nathan the prophet; for the commandment was offrom Jehovahthe byLord through his prophets
29:26 AndThe the Levites stood with the instruments of David and the priests with the trumpets
29:27 AndThen HezekiahHezeki′ah commanded tothat offer the burnt offering uponbe offered on the altar And when the burnt offering began the song ofto Jehovahthe Lord began also and the trumpets togetheraccompanied withby the instruments of David king of Israel
29:28 AndThe allwhole the assembly worshippedworshiped and the singers sang and the trumpeters sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished
29:29 AndWhen whenthe theyoffering hadwas madefinished an end of offering the king and all thatwho were present with him bowed themselves and worshippedworshiped
29:30 MoreoverAnd HezekiahHezeki′ah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praises untoto Jehovahthe Lord with the words of David and of Asaph the seer And they sang praises with gladness and they bowed theirdown heads and worshippedworshiped
29:31 Then HezekiahHezeki′ah answered and said NowYou ye have now consecrated yourselves untoto Jehovahthe Lord; come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings intoto the house of Jehovahthe Lord And the assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and asall manywho as were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings

29:33 And the consecrated thingsofferings were six hundred oxenbulls and three thousand sheep
29:34 But the priests were too few soand that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: whereforeso theiruntil brethrenother thepriests Leviteshad didsanctified helpthemselves themtheir tillbrethren the workLevites washelped endedthem and until the priestswork hadwas sanctified themselves; finished—for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests in sanctifying themselves
29:35 AndBesides also the great number of burnt offerings werethere inwas abundance with the fat of the peace offerings and withthere were the drinklibations offerings for everythe burnt offeringofferings SoThus the service of the house of Jehovahthe Lord was setrestored in order
29:36 And HezekiahHezeki′ah rejoiced and all the people rejoiced because of thatwhat which God had prepareddone for the people:; for the thing wascame doneabout suddenly
30:1 AndHezeki′ah Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah and wrote letters also to EphraimE′phraim and ManassehManas′seh that they should come to the house of Jehovahthe Lord at Jerusalem to keep the passover untoto Jehovahthe Lord the God of Israel
30:2 For the king had taken counsel and his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem had taken counsel to keep the passover in the second month—
30:3 Forfor they could not keep it atin thatits time because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number neithernor had the people gatheredassembled themselvesin together to Jerusalem—
30:4 Andand the thingplan wasseemed right into the eyes of the king and of all the assembly
30:5 So they establisheddecreed a decree to make a proclamation throughout all Israel from Beer sheba even to Dan that theythe people should come toand keep the passover untoto Jehovahthe Lord the God of Israel at Jerusalem:; for they had not kept it in great numbers in such sort as itprescribed is written
30:6 So thecouriers posts went throughout all Israel and Judah with the letters from the king and his princes throughoutas all Israel and Judah and according to the commandmentking ofhad thecommanded king saying YeO childrenpeople of Israel turnreturn againto untothe JehovahLord the God of Abraham Isaac and Israel that he may returnturn again to the remnant thatof areyou escapedwho ofhave youescaped outfrom of the hand of the kings of Assyria
30:7 AndDo be not yebe like your fathers and like your brethren who trespassedwere againstfaithless Jehovahto the Lord God of their fathers so that he gavemade them upa to desolation as yeyou see
30:8 NowDo not now be yestiff notnecked stiffnecked as your fathers were; but yield yourselves untoto Jehovahthe Lord and entercome intoto his sanctuary which he hathhas sanctified for ever and serve Jehovahthe Lord your God that his fierce anger may turn away from you
30:9 For if yeyou turnreturn againto untothe JehovahLord your brethren and your children shallwill find compassion beforewith themtheir thatcaptors led them captive and shallreturn cometo again into this land: forFor Jehovahthe Lord your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you if yeyou return untoto him
30:10 So the postscouriers passedwent from city to city through the country of EphraimE′phraim and ManassehManas′seh evenand untoas Zebulun:far as Zeb′ulun; but they laughed them to scorn and mocked them
30:11 NeverthelessOnly certaina few men of Asher andof ManassehManas′seh and of ZebulunZeb′ulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem
30:12 AlsoThe uponhand Judahof cameGod thewas handalso ofupon GodJudah to give them one heart to do thewhat commandment of the king and of the princes commanded by the word of Jehovahthe Lord

30:16 AndThey theytook stood in their placeaccustomed afterposts their order according to the law of Moses the man of God:; the priests sprinkled the blood which they received offrom the hand of the Levites
30:17 For there were many in the assembly thatwho had not sanctified themselves:; therefore the Levites had theto chargekill ofthe killingpassover thelamb passovers for every one thatwho was not clean to sanctifymake themit untoholy Jehovahto the Lord
30:18 For a multitude of the people even many of Ephraimthem andfrom ManassehE′phraim IssacharManas′seh Is′sachar and ZebulunZeb′ulun had not cleansed themselves yet did they eatate the passover otherwise than itas isprescribed written For HezekiahHezeki′ah had prayed for them saying The good JehovahLord pardon every one

30:21 And the childrenpeople of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness; and the Levites and the priests praised Jehovahthe Lord day by day singing with loudall instrumentstheir untomight Jehovahto the Lord
30:22 And HezekiahHezeki′ah spakespoke comfortablyencouragingly untoto all the Levites thatwho hadshowed good understandingskill in the service of Jehovahthe Lord So theythe didpeople eatate throughoutthe food of the feastfestival for the seven days offeringsacrificing sacrifices of peace offerings and makinggiving confessionthanks to Jehovahthe Lord the God of their fathers
30:23 AndThen the whole assembly tookagreed counseltogether to keep otherthe feast for another seven days; andso they kept otherit for another seven days with gladness

30:26 So there was great joy in Jerusalem; for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there washad notbeen thenothing like this in Jerusalem
30:27 Then the priests and the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard and their prayer came up to his holy habitation evenin unto heaven
31:1 Now when all this was finished all Israel thatwho were present went out to the cities of Judah and brakebroke in pieces the pillars and hewed down the AsherimAshe′rim and brakebroke down the high places and the altars outthroughout of all Judah and Benjamin and in EphraimE′phraim also and ManassehManas′seh until they had destroyed them all Then all the childrenpeople of Israel returned to their cities every man to his possession into their own cities

31:20 AndThus thusHezeki′ah did Hezekiah throughout all Judah; and he wroughtdid thatwhat which was good and right and faithful before Jehovahthe Lord his God
31:21 And in every work that he beganundertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and in the commandments toseeking seek his God he did it with all his heart and prospered
32:1 After these things and thisthese acts of faithfulness SennacheribSennach′erib king of Assyria came and enteredinvaded into Judah and encamped against the fortified cities andthinking thought to win them for himself
32:2 And when HezekiahHezeki′ah saw that SennacheribSennach′erib washad come and thatintended he was purposed to fight against Jerusalem
32:3 he tookplanned counsel with his princesofficers and his mighty men to stop the waterswater of the fountainssprings whichthat were withoutoutside the city; and they helped him
32:4 SoA theregreat wasmany gatheredpeople muchwere peoplegathered together and they stopped all the fountainssprings and the brook that flowed through the midst of the land saying Why should the kings of Assyria come and find much water
32:5 AndHe heset tookto couragework resolutely and built up all the wall that was broken down and raised towers upon it upand tooutside theit towershe andbuilt theanother other wall; without and he strengthened the Millo in the city of David andHe also made weapons and shields in abundance
32:6 And he set captainscombat ofcommanders war over the people and gathered them together to him in the broadsquare place at the gate of the city and spakespoke comfortablyencouragingly to them saying
32:7 Be strong and of good courage beDo not be afraid noror dismayed forbefore the king of Assyria norand for all the multitudehorde that is with him; for there is aone greater with us than with him:
32:8 withWith him is an arm of flesh; but with us is Jehovahthe Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles And the people restedtook themselvesconfidence uponfrom the words of HezekiahHezeki′ah king of Judah
32:9 After this didSennach′erib Sennacherib king of Assyria sendwho his servants to Jerusalem now he was beforebesieging Lachish andwith all his powerforces withsent himhis untoservants Hezekiahto Jerusalem to Hezeki′ah king of Judah and untoto all the people of Judah that were atin Jerusalem saying

32:11 DothIs not HezekiahHezeki′ah persuademisleading you tothat he may give you over to die by famine and by thirst sayingwhen Jehovahhe tells you The Lord our God will deliver us outfrom of the hand of the king of Assyria
32:12 HathHas not thethis same HezekiahHezeki′ah taken away his high places and his altars and commanded Judah and Jerusalem sayingBefore Yeone altar you shall worship before one altar and upon it you shall ye burn incenseyour sacrifices
32:13 KnowDo yeyou not know what I and my fathers have done untoto all the peoples of theother lands Were the gods of the nations of thethose lands inat anyall wise able to deliver their landlands out of my hand
32:14 Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed thatwas couldable to deliver his people outfrom of my hand that your God should be able to deliver you outfrom of my hand

32:23 And many brought gifts untoto Jehovahthe Lord to Jerusalem and precious things to HezekiahHezeki′ah king of Judah; so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from thenceforththat time onward
32:24 In those days HezekiahHezeki′ah wasbecame sick evenand untowas at the point of death: and he prayed untoto Jehovahthe Lord; and he spakeanswered unto him and gave him a sign
32:25 But HezekiahHezeki′ah rendereddid not againmake return according to the benefit done untoto him; for his heart was liftedproud up:Therefore thereforewrath therecame was wrath upon him and upon Judah and Jerusalem
32:26 NotwithstandingBut HezekiahHezeki′ah humbled himself for the pride of his heart both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem so that the wrath of Jehovahthe cameLord did not come upon them in the days of HezekiahHezeki′ah
32:27 And HezekiahHezeki′ah had exceedingvery muchgreat riches and honor:; and he providedmade himfor himself treasuries for silver and for gold and for precious stones and for spices and for shields and for all mannerkinds of goodlycostly vessels;

33:12 And when he was in distress he besoughtentreated Jehovahthe favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers
33:13 AndHe he prayed untoto him; and heGod wasreceived entreatedhis ofentreaty him and heard his supplication and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom Then ManassehManas′seh knew that Jehovahthe heLord was God
33:14 NowAfterwards after this he built an outer wall tofor the city of David on the west side of Gihon in the valley evenand tofor the entrance atinto the fishFish gate;Gate and hecarried compassedit round Ophel about with it and raised it up to a very great height:; and he also put valiantcommanders captainsof the army in all the fortified cities ofin Judah

33:22 AndHe he did thatwhat which was evil in the sight of Jehovahthe Lord as didManas′seh Manasseh his father; andhad done Amon sacrificed untoto all the graven images whichthat ManassehManas′seh his father had made and served them
33:23 And he humbleddid not humble himself before Jehovahthe Lord as ManassehManas′seh his father had humbled himself; but this same Amon trespassedincurred guilt more and more
