8:6 AndThen the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovahthe untoLord to its place intoin the oracleinner sanctuary of the house toin the most holy place evenunderneath under the wings of the cherubim
8:7 For the cherubim spread forthout their wings over the place of the ark andso that the cherubim coveredmade a covering above the ark and theits stavespoles thereof above
8:8 And the stavespoles were so long that the ends of the stavespoles were seen from the holy place before the oracleinner sanctuary; but they werecould not be seen without:from outside; and there they are untothere to this day
8:9 There was nothing in the ark saveexcept the two tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb whenwhere Jehovahthe Lord made a covenant with the childrenpeople of Israel when they came out of the land of Egypt
8:10 And it came to pass when the priests werecame come out of the holy place thata the cloud filled the house of Jehovahthe Lord
8:11 so that the priests could not stand to minister bybecause reason of the cloud; for the glory of Jehovahthe Lord filled the house of Jehovahthe Lord
8:12 Then spake Solomon Jehovahsaid hathThe Lord has set the sun in the heavens but has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness
8:13 I have surely built thee aan exalted house of habitation a place for thee to dwell in for ever
8:14 AndThen the king turnedfaced his face about and blessed all the assembly of Israel: andwhile all the assembly of Israel stood
8:15 And he said Blessed be Jehovahthe Lord the God of Israel who spake with his mouthhand untohas Davidfulfilled thywhat fatherhe andpromised hath with his handmouth fulfilledto itDavid my father saying
8:16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt I chose no city outin of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Israel
8:17 Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Jehovahthe Lord the God of Israel
8:18 But Jehovahthe Lord said untoto David my father Whereas it was in thyyour heart to build a house for my name thouyou didstdid well that it was in thyyour heart:;
8:19 nevertheless thouyou shaltshall not build the house; but thyyour son thatwho shall comebe forthborn outto ofyou thy loins he shall build the house for my name
8:20 AndNow Jehovahthe hathLord establishedhas fulfilled his wordpromise thatwhich he spakemade; for I amhave risen up in the roomplace of David my father and sit on the throne of Israel as Jehovahthe Lord promised and I have built the house for the name of Jehovahthe Lord the God of Israel
8:21 And there I have Iprovided set a place for the ark whereinin which is the covenant of Jehovahthe Lord which he made with our fathers when he brought them out of the land of Egypt
8:22 AndThen Solomon stood before the altar of Jehovahthe Lord in the presence of all the assembly of Israel and spread forth his hands toward heaven;
8:23 and he said O JehovahLord the God of Israel there is no God like thee in heaven above or on earth beneath; whokeeping keepest covenant and lovingkindnessshowing withsteadfast love to thy servants thatwho walk before thee with all their heart;
8:24 who hast kept with thy servant David my father thatwhat which thou didst promisedeclare to him:; yea thou spakestdidst speak with thy mouth and hast fulfilled it with thy hand ashast fulfilled it is this day
8:25 Now therefore O JehovahLord the God of Israel keep with thy servant David my father thatwhat which thou hast promised him saying There shall notnever fail theeyou a man inbefore myme sight to sit onupon the throne of Israel if only thyyour childrensons take heed to their way to walk before me as thouyou hasthave walked before me
8:26 Now therefore O God of Israel let thy word I pray thee be verifiedconfirmed which thou spakesthast untospoken to thy servant David my father
8:27 But will God inindeed very deed dwell on the earth beholdBehold heaven and the highest heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house thatwhich I have buildedbuilt
8:28 Yet have thouregard respectto unto the prayer of thy servant and to his supplication O JehovahLord my God hearkening to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer which thy servant prayethprays before thee this day;
8:29 that thinethy eyes may be open toward this house night and day even toward this house the place whereofof which thou hast said My name shall be there; tothat thou mayest hearken untoto the prayer which thy servant shalloffers pray toward this place
8:30 And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant and of thy people Israel when they shall pray toward this place:; yea hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place; and when thou hearest forgive

8:32 then hear thou in heaven and doact and judge thy servants condemning the wickedguilty toby bringbringing his wayconduct upon his own head and justifyingvindicating the righteous toby giverewarding him according to his righteousness
8:33 When thy people Israel are smittendefeated down before the enemy because they have sinned against thee; if they turn again to thee and confessacknowledge thy name and pray and make supplication untoto thee in this house:;
8:34 then hear thou in heaven and forgive the sin of thy people Israel and bring them again untoto the land which thou gavest untoto their fathers
8:35 When heaven is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place and confessacknowledge thy name and turn from their sin when thou dost afflict them:
8:36 then hear thou in heaven and forgive the sin of thy servants and of thy people Israel when thou teachestdost teach them the good way whereinin which they should walk; and sendgrant rain upon thy land which thou hast given to thy people foras an inheritance
8:37 If there beis famine in the land famine if there beis pestilence ifor thereblight beor blastingmildew or mildew locust or caterpillar; if their enemy besiegebesieges them in theany land of their cities; whatsoeverwhatever plague whatsoeverwhatever sickness there beis;

8:65 So Solomon held the feast at that time and all Israel with him a great assembly from the entrance of Hamath untoto the brookBrook of Egypt before Jehovahthe Lord our God seven days and seven days even fourteen days
8:66 On the eighth day he sent the people away; and they blessed the king and went untoto their tentshomes joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that Jehovahthe Lord had showedshown untoto David his servant and to Israel his people
9:1 AndWhen it came to pass when Solomon had finished the building of the house of Jehovahthe Lord and the kings house and all Solomonsthat desireSolomon whichdesired he was pleased to dobuild
9:2 thatthe JehovahLord appeared to Solomon thea second time as he had appeared untoto him at Gibeon
9:3 And Jehovahthe Lord said untoto him I have heard thyyour prayer and thyyour supplication thatwhich thouyou hasthave made before me:; I have hallowedconsecrated this house which thouyou hasthave built toand put my name there for ever; andmy mine eyes and my heart shallwill be there perpetuallyfor all time
9:4 And as for theeyou if thouyou wiltwill walk before me as David thyyour father walked inwith integrity of heart and in uprightness todoing do according to all that I have commanded theeyou and wiltkeeping keep my statutes and minemy ordinances;
9:5 then I will establish theyour royal throne of thy kingdom over Israel for ever according as I promised to David thyyour father saying There shall not fail theeyou a man upon the throne of Israel
9:6 But if yeyou shall turn awayaside from following me yeyou or your children and do not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you but shall go and serve other gods and worship them;
9:7 then I will I cut off Israel outfrom of the land which I have given them; and thisthe house which I have hallowedconsecrated for my name I will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shallwill bebecome a proverb and a byword among all peoples
9:8 And though this house iswill sobecome higha yetheap shallof everyruins; oneeveryone thatpassing passeth by it will be astonished and shallwill hiss; and they shallwill say Why hathhas Jehovahthe Lord done thus untoto this land and to this house
9:9 andThen they shallwill answersay Because they forsook Jehovahthe Lord their God who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshippedworshiped them and served them:; therefore haththe JehovahLord has brought all this evil upon them
9:10 AndAt it came to pass at the end of twenty years whereinin which Solomon had built the two houses the house of Jehovahthe Lord and the kings house
9:11 nowand Hiram the king of Tyre had furnishedsupplied Solomon with cedar trees and fircypress treestimber and with gold accordingas tomuch allas hishe desiredesired thatKing then king Solomon gave to Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee
9:12 AndBut when Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleaseddid not please him not
9:13 AndTherefore he said What kind of cities are these which thouyou hasthave given me my brother AndSo hethey are called them the land of Cabul untoto this day
9:14 And Hiram had sent to the king sixscoreone hundred and twenty talents of gold
9:15 And this is the reasonaccount of the levyforced labor which kingKing Solomon raisedlevied to build the house of Jehovahthe Lord and his own house and the Millo and the wall of Jerusalem and Hazor and MegiddoMegid′do and Gezer
9:16 Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and takencaptured Gezer and burnt it with fire and had slain the Canaanites thatwho dwelt in the city and had given it foras adowry portionto unto his daughter Solomons wife;
9:17 Andso Solomon builtrebuilt Gezer and Lower Beth horonhor′on the nether
9:18 and BaalathBa′alath and Tamar in the wilderness in the land of Judah
9:19 and all the store cities that Solomon had and the cities for his chariots and the cities for his horsemen and thatwhatever which Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem and in Lebanon and in all the land of his dominion
9:20 AsAll for all the people thatwho were left of the Amorites the Hittites the PerizzitesPer′izzites the Hivites and the JebusitesJeb′usites who were not of the childrenpeople of Israel;—
9:21 their childrendescendants thatwho were left after them in the land whom the childrenpeople of Israel were notunable able utterly to destroy ofutterly—these them did Solomon raisemade a forced levy of bondservantsslaves untoand so they are to this day
9:22 But of the childrenpeople of Israel did Solomon makemade no bondservantsslaves; but they were the mensoldiers ofthey warwere and his servantsofficials and his princescommanders and his captains andhis rulerschariot ofcommanders his chariots and of his horsemen
9:23 These were the chief officers thatwho were over Solomons work: five hundred and fifty who barehad rulecharge overof the people thatwho wroughtcarried inon the work
9:24 But Pharaohs daughter camewent up outfrom of the city of David untoto her own house which Solomon had built for her:; then did he buildbuilt the Millo
9:25 AndThree three times in a year did Solomon used to offer up burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built untoto Jehovahthe Lord burning incense therewithbefore upon the altarLord that was before Jehovah So he finished the house
9:26 AndKing king Solomon madebuilt a navyfleet of ships inat EzionE′zion geberge′ber which is besidenear Eloth on the shore of the Red Sea in the land of Edom
9:27 And Hiram sent inwith the navyfleet his servants shipmenseamen thatwho hadwere knowledgefamiliar ofwith the sea together with the servants of Solomon;
9:28 Andand they camewent to Ophir and fetchedbrought from thencethere gold to the amount of four hundred and twenty talents; and they brought it to kingKing Solomon
10:1 AndNow when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of Jehovahthe Lord she came to provetest him with hard questions
10:2 AndShe she came to Jerusalem with a very great trainretinue with camels thatbearing bare spices and very much gold and precious stones; and when she wascame come to Solomon she communedtold with him of all that was inon her heartmind
10:3 And Solomon toldanswered her all her questions:; there was notnothing anythinghidden hid from the king which he toldcould not explain to her not
10:4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon and the house that he had built
10:5 and the food of his table and the sittingseating of his servantsofficials and the attendance of his ministersservants and their apparelclothing and his cupbearers and his ascentburnt byofferings which he wentoffered upat unto the house of Jehovah;the Lord there was no more spirit in her
10:6 And she said to the king ItThe report was a true reportwhich that I heard in minemy own land of thineyour actsaffairs and of thyyour wisdom
10:7 Howbeitbut I believeddid not believe the wordsreports until I came and minemy own eyes had seen it:; and behold the half was not told me; thyyour wisdom and prosperity exceedsurpass the famereport which I heard
10:8 Happy are thyyour menwives happyHappy are these thyyour servants thatwho continually stand continually before theeyou and that hear thyyour wisdom
10:9 Blessed be Jehovahthe thyLord your God who has delighted in theeyou toand set theeyou on the throne of Israel: becauseBecause Jehovahthe Lord loved Israel for ever thereforehe has made heyou thee king tothat doyou may execute justice and righteousness
10:10 AndThen she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold and ofa spices very great storequantity of spices and precious stones:; therenever again came nosuch morean such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to kingKing Solomon
10:11 AndMoreover the navyfleet also of Hiram thatwhich brought gold from Ophir brought in from Ophir a very great plentyamount of almug treeswood and precious stones
10:12 And the king made of the almug treeswood pillarssupports for the house of Jehovahthe Lord and for the kings house harpslyres also and psalteriesharps for the singers:; there came no such almug treeswood norhas werecome or been seen untoto this day
10:13 And kingKing Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all herthat desireshe whatsoeverdesired whatever she asked besides thatwhat whichwas Solomongiven gave her by the bounty of hisKing royalSolomon bounty So she turned and went back to her own land shewith and her servants
10:14 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and sixty six talents of gold
10:15 besides that which came from the traders brought and from the traffic of the merchants and offrom all the kings of theArabia mingled people and offrom the governors of the countryland
10:16 AndKing king Solomon made two hundred bucklerslarge shields of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of gold went tointo oneeach bucklershield
10:17 And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three poundsminas of gold went tointo oneeach shield:; and the king put them in the houseHouse of the forestForest of Lebanon
10:18 MoreoverThe the king also made a great ivory throne of ivory and overlaid it with the finest gold
10:19 ThereThe werethrone had six steps toand theat throne and the topback of the throne was rounda behind;calfs head and there were stays on eithereach side byof the placeseat ofwere thearm seatrests and two lions standing beside the staysarm rests
10:20 Andwhile twelve lions stood there one on theeach oneend sideof anda step on the othersix uponsteps theThe sixlike steps:of thereit was notnever the like made in any kingdom
10:21 AndAll allKing king Solomons drinking vessels were of gold and all the vessels of the houseHouse of the forestForest of LebanonLeb′anon were of pure gold:; none were of silver; it was nothingnot accountedconsidered ofas anything in the days of Solomon
10:22 For the king had ata seafleet aof navyships of Tarshish at sea with the navyfleet of Hiram: onceOnce every three years came the navyfleet of ships of Tarshish used to come bringing gold and silver ivory and apes and peacocks
10:23 SoThus kingKing Solomon exceededexcelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom
10:24 And all the whole earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put ininto his heartmind
10:25 AndEvery theyone broughtof everythem manbrought his tributepresent vesselsarticles of silver and vessels of gold andgarments raimentmyrrh and armor and spices horses and mules aso ratemuch year by year
10:26 And Solomon gathered together chariots and horsemen:; and he had afourteen thousand and four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen thatwhom he bestowedstationed in the chariot cities and with the king atin Jerusalem
10:27 And the king made silver toas becommon in Jerusalem as stonesstone and cedarshe made hecedar toas beplentiful as the sycomoresycamore treesof that are in the lowlandShephe′lah for abundance
10:28 And theSolomons horsesimport whichof Solomonhorses hadwas werefrom broughtEgypt outand ofKu′e Egypt; and the kings merchantstraders received them infrom drovesKu′e each drove at a price
10:29 AndA a chariot camecould upbe andimported wentfrom out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so forthrough the kings traders they were exported to all the kings of the Hittites and for the kings of Syria did they bring them out by their means
11:1 Now kingKing Solomon loved many foreign women: together with the daughter of Pharaoh womenand ofMoabite theAmmonite MoabitesE′domite AmmonitesSido′nian Edomitesand SidoniansHittite andwomen Hittites;
11:2 offrom the nations concerning which Jehovahthe Lord had said untoto the childrenpeople of Israel YeYou shall not goenter amonginto marriage with them neither shall they comewith among you; for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods:; Solomon claveclung untoto these in love
11:3 AndHe he had seven hundred wives princesses and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart
11:4 For it came to pass when Solomon was old that his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfectwholly withtrue Jehovahto the Lord his God as was the heart of David his father
11:5 For Solomon went after AshtorethAsh′toreth the goddess of the SidoniansSido′nians and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites
11:6 AndSo Solomon did thatwhat which was evil in the sight of Jehovahthe Lord and wentdid not fullywholly afterfollow Jehovahthe Lord as did David his father had done
11:7 Then did Solomon buildbuilt a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab in the mount that is before Jerusalem and for Molech the abomination of the childrenAmmonites on the mountain east of AmmonJerusalem
11:8 And so he did he for all his foreign wives who burntburned incense and sacrificed untoto their gods
11:9 And Jehovahthe Lord was angry with Solomon because his heart washad turned away from Jehovahthe Lord the God of Israel who had appeared untoto him twice
11:10 and had commanded him concerning this thing that he should not go after other gods:; but he keptdid not thatkeep whichwhat Jehovahthe Lord commanded
11:11 WhereforeTherefore Jehovahthe Lord said untoto Solomon ForasmuchSince as this ishas donebeen ofyour theemind and thouyou hasthave not kept my covenant and my statutes which I have commanded theeyou I will surely rendtear the kingdom from theeyou and will give it to thyyour servant
11:12 NotwithstandingYet infor thythe dayssake of David your father I will not do it forin Davidyour thydays fathers sake: but I will rendtear it out of the hand of thyyour son
11:13 HowbeitHowever I will not rendtear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to thyyour son for the sake of David my servantsservant sake and for Jerusalemsthe sake of Jerusalem which I have chosen
11:14 And Jehovahthe Lord raised up an adversary untoagainst Solomon Hadad the Edomite:E′domite; he was of the kingsroyal seedhouse in Edom
11:15 For it came to pass when David was in Edom and JoabJo′ab the captaincommander of the hostarmy waswent gone up to bury the slain andhe hadslew smitten every male in Edom
11:16 for JoabJo′ab and all Israel remained there six months until he had cut off every male in Edom;
11:17 thatbut Hadad fled heto andEgypt together with certain EdomitesE′domites of his fathers servants with him to go into Egypt Hadad being yet a little child
11:18 AndThey theyset arose out offrom MidianMid′ian and came to Paran; and they took men with them outfrom of Paran and they came to Egypt untoto Pharaoh king of Egypt who gave him a house and appointedassigned him victualsan allowance of food and gave him land
11:19 And Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh so that he gave him toin wifemarriage the sister of his own wife the sister of TahpenesTah′penes the queen
11:20 And the sister of TahpenesTah′penes barebore him GenubathGenu′bath his son whom TahpenesTah′penes weaned in Pharaohs house; and GenubathGenu′bath was in Pharaohs house among the sons of Pharaoh
11:21 AndBut when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers and that JoabJo′ab the captaincommander of the hostarmy was dead Hadad said to Pharaoh Let me depart that I may go to minemy own country
11:22 ThenBut Pharaoh said untoto him ButWhat whathave hastyou thou lacked with me that beholdyou thouare seekestnow seeking to go to thineyour own country And he answeredsaid Nothing:to howbeithim onlyOnly let me departgo
11:23 And God also raised up anotheras an adversary untoto him Rezon the son of EliadaEli′ada who had fled from his lordmaster HadadezerHadad e′zer king of Zobah
11:24 And he gathered men untoabout him and became captainleader overof a troopmarauding whenband Davidafter slewthe themslaughter ofby Zobah:David; and they went to Damascus and dwelt thereinthere and reignedmade him king in Damascus
11:25 AndHe he was an adversary toof Israel all the days of Solomon besidesdoing the mischief thatas Hadad did:; and he abhorred Israel and reigned over Syria
11:26 AndJerobo′am Jeroboam the son of Nebat an EphraimiteE′phraimite of ZeredahZer′edah a servant of Solomon whose mothers name was ZeruahZeru′ah a widow he also lifted up his hand against the king
11:27 And this was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built the Millo and repairedclosed up the breach of the city of David his father
11:28 AndThe the man JeroboamJerobo′am was avery mightyable manand ofwhen valor; and Solomon saw that the young man that he was industrious and he gave him charge over all the forced labor of the house of Joseph
11:29 And it came to pass at that time when JeroboamJerobo′am went out of Jerusalem that the prophet AhijahAhi′jah the ShiloniteShi′lonite found him inon the way;road nowNow AhijahAhi′jah had clad himself with a new garment; and theythe two of them were alone in the fieldopen country
11:30 AndThen AhijahAhi′jah laid hold of the new garment that was on him and renttore it ininto twelve pieces
11:31 And he said to JeroboamJerobo′am Take theefor yourself ten pieces; for thus saithsays Jehovahthe Lord the God of Israel Behold I willam rendabout to tear the kingdom outfrom of the hand of Solomon and will give you ten tribes to thee
11:32 but he shall have one tribe for the sake of my servant DavidsDavid sake and for Jerusalemsthe sake of Jerusalem the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel;
11:33 because thathe theyhas have forsaken me and haveworshiped worshippedAsh′toreth Ashtoreth the goddess of the SidoniansSido′nians Chemosh the god of Moab and Milcom the god of the childrenAmmonites of Ammon; and theyhas have not walked in my ways todoing dowhat that which is right in minemy eyessight and tokeeping keep my statutes and minemy ordinances as did David his father did
11:34 HowbeitNevertheless I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand; but I will make him princeruler all the days of his life for the sake of David my servantsservant sake whom I chose who kept my commandments and my statutes;
11:35 but I will take the kingdom out of his sons hand and will give it untoto theeyou even ten tribes
11:36 AndYet untoto his son I will I give one tribe that David my servant may always have a lamp alway before me in Jerusalem the city whichwhere I have chosen me to put my name there
11:37 And I will take theeyou and thouyou shaltshall reign accordingover to all that thyyour soul desirethdesires and shaltyou shall be king over Israel
11:38 And it shall be if thouyou wiltwill hearken untoto all that I command theeyou and wiltwill walk in my ways and do thatwhat which is right in minemy eyes toby keepkeeping my statutes and my commandments as David my servant did; that I will be with theeyou and will build theeyou a sure house as I built for David and I will give Israel untoto theeyou
11:39 And I will for this afflict the seeddescendants of David but not for ever
11:40 Solomon sought therefore to kill JeroboamJerobo′am; but JeroboamJerobo′am arose and fled into Egypt untoto Shishak king of Egypt and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon
11:43 And Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father:; and RehoboamRehobo′am his son reigned in his stead
12:1 AndRehobo′am Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel werehad come to Shechem to make him king
12:2 And it came to pass when JeroboamJerobo′am the son of Nebat heard of it for he was yetstill in Egypt whither he had fled from theKing presence of king Solomon andthen JeroboamJerobo′am dweltreturned infrom Egypt
12:3 andAnd they sent and called him; thatand JeroboamJerobo′am and all the assembly of Israel came and spakesaid untoto RehoboamRehobo′am saying
12:4 ThyYour father made our yoke grievous:heavy nowNow therefore makelighten thou the grievoushard service of thyyour father and his heavy yoke which he put upon us lighter and we will serve theeyou
12:5 AndHe he said untoto them Depart yet for three days then come again to me AndSo the people departedwent away
12:6 AndThen kingKing RehoboamRehobo′am took counsel with the old men thatwho had stood before Solomon his father while he was yet livedalive saying WhatHow counseldo giveyou yeadvise me to return answer to this people
12:7 And they spakesaid untoto him saying If thouyou wiltwill be a servant untoto this people thistoday day and wilt serve them and answer them and speak good words to them when you answer them then they will be thyyour servants for ever
12:8 But he forsook the counsel ofwhich the old men whichgave they had given him and took counsel with the young men thatwho werehad grown up with him thatand stood before him
12:9 And he said untoto them What counseldo giveyou yeadvise that we may return answer to this people who have spokensaid to me sayingLighten Make the yoke that thyyour father did put upon us lighter
12:10 And the young men thatwho werehad grown up with him spakesaid untoto him saying Thus shaltshall thouyou sayspeak untoto this people thatwho spakesaid untoto theeyou sayingYour Thy father made our yoke heavy but makedo thouyou lighten it lighterfor unto us; thus shaltshall thouyou speaksay untoto them My little finger is thicker than my fathers loins
12:11 And now whereas my father didlaid ladeupon you with a heavy yoke I will add to your yoke: myMy father chastised you with whips but I will chastise you with scorpions
12:12 So JeroboamJerobo′am and all the people came to RehoboamRehobo′am the third day as the king badesaid saying Come to me again the third day
12:13 And the king answered the people roughlyharshly and forsookforsaking the counsel ofwhich the old men which they had given him
12:14 andhe spakespoke to them afteraccording to the counsel of the young men saying My father made your yoke heavy but I will add to your yoke:; my father chastised you with whips but I will chastise you with scorpions
12:15 So the king hearkeneddid not untohearken to the people; for it was a thingturn of affairs brought about ofby Jehovahthe Lord that he might establishfulfil his word which Jehovahthe spakeLord spoke by AhijahAhi′jah the ShiloniteShi′lonite to JeroboamJerobo′am the son of Nebat
12:16 And when all Israel saw that the king hearkeneddid not untohearken to them the people answered the king saying What portion have we in David neitherWe have weno inheritance in the son of Jesse: toTo your tents O Israel: Look now see to thineyour own house David So Israel departed untoto their tents
12:17 But asRehobo′am forreigned over the childrenpeople of Israel thatwho dwelt in the cities of Judah Rehoboam reigned over them
12:18 Then kingKing RehoboamRehobo′am sent AdoramAdor′am who was taskmaster over the menforced subjectlabor to taskwork; and all Israel stoned him to death with stones And kingKing RehoboamRehobo′am made speedhaste to getmount him up to his chariot to flee to Jerusalem
12:19 So Israel rebelledhas been in rebellion against the house of David untoto this day
12:20 And it came to pass when all Israel heard that JeroboamJerobo′am washad returned that they sent and called him untoto the congregationassembly and made him king over all Israel: thereThere was none that followed the house of David but the tribe of Judah only
12:21 AndWhen whenRehobo′am Rehoboamcame was come to Jerusalem he assembled all the house of Judah and the tribe of Benjamin a hundred and fourscoreeighty thousand chosen men that were warriors to fight against the house of Israel to bringrestore the kingdom again to RehoboamRehobo′am the son of Solomon
12:22 But the word of God came untoto ShemaiahShemai′ah the man of God: saying
12:23 SpeakSay untoto RehoboamRehobo′am the son of Solomon king of Judah and untoto all the house of Judah and Benjamin and to the rest of the people saying
12:24 Thus saithsays Jehovahthe YeLord You shall not go up noror fight against your brethrenkinsmen the childrenpeople of Israel: returnReturn every man to his house;home for this thing is offrom me So they hearkened untoto the word of Jehovahthe andLord returned and went theirhome wayagain according to the word of Jehovahthe Lord
12:25 Then JeroboamJerobo′am built Shechem in the hill country of EphraimE′phraim and dwelt thereinthere; and he went out from thencethere and built PenuelPenu′el
12:26 And JeroboamJerobo′am said in his heart Now will the kingdom returnwill turn back to the house of David:;
12:27 if this people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of Jehovahthe Lord at Jerusalem then will the heart of this people will turn again untoto their lord evento untoRehobo′am Rehoboam king of Judah; and they will kill me and return to RehoboamRehobo′am king of Judah
12:28 WhereuponSo the king took counsel and made two calves of gold; andAnd he said untoto themthe Itpeople isYou toohave muchgone forup you to goJerusalem uplong toenough Jerusalem:Behold beholdyour thy gods O Israel whichwho brought theeyou up out of the land of Egypt
12:29 And he set the one in BethBethel el and the other he put he in Dan
12:30 And this thing became a sin; for the people went to worshipthe beforeone at Bethel and to the oneother evenas untofar as Dan
12:31 AndHe healso made houses ofon high places and madeappointed priests from among all the people thatwho were not of the sonsLevites of Levi
12:32 And JeroboamJerobo′am ordainedappointed a feast in the eighth month on the fifteenth day of the eighth month like unto the feast that iswas in Judah and he wentoffered upsacrifices untoupon the altar; so he did he in BethBethel el sacrificing untoto the calves that he had made: andAnd he placed in BethBethel el the priests of the high places that he had made
12:33 AndHe he went up untoto the altar which he had made in BethBethel el on the fifteenth day in the eighth month even in the month which he had devised of his own heart:; and he ordained a feast for the childrenpeople of Israel and went up untoto the altar to burn incense
13:1 And behold there came a man of God came out of Judah by the word of Jehovahthe untoLord Bethto el:Bethel andJerobo′am Jeroboam was standing by the altar to burn incense
13:2 And hethe man cried against the altar by the word of Jehovahthe Lord and said O altar altar thus saithsays Jehovahthe Lord: Behold a son shall be born untoto the house of David JosiahJosi′ah by name; and uponhe thee shall he sacrifice upon you the priests of the high places thatwho burn incense upon theeyou and mens bones shall theybe burnburned upon theeyou
13:3 And he gave a sign the same day saying This is the sign whichthat Jehovahthe hathLord has spoken: Behold the altar shall be renttorn down and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out
13:4 And it came to pass when the king heard the saying of the man of God which he cried against the altar inat BethBethel elJerobo′am thatstretched Jeroboamout put forth his hand from the altar saying Lay hold onof him And his hand which he putstretched forthout against him dried up so that he could not draw it back again to himhimself
13:5 The altar also was renttorn down and the ashes poured out from the altar according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of Jehovahthe Lord
13:6 And the king answered and said untoto the man of God Entreat now the favor of Jehovahthe thyLord your God and pray for me that my hand may be restored to me again And the man of God entreated Jehovahthe Lord; and the kings hand was restored to him again and became as it was before
13:7 And the king said untoto the man of God Come home with me and refresh thyselfyourself and I will give theeyou a reward
13:8 And the man of God said untoto the king If thouyou wilt give me half thyyour house I will not go in with theeyou neitherAnd I will Inot eat bread noror drink water in this place;
13:9 for so was it chargedcommanded me by the word of Jehovahthe Lord saying ThouYou shaltshall neither eat no bread nor drink water neithernor return by the way that thouyou camestcame
13:10 So he went another way and returneddid not return by the way that he came to Beth elBethel
13:11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in BethBethel el;And and one of his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in BethBethel; el: the words also which he had spoken untoto the king them also they told untoto their father
13:12 And their father said untoto them WhatWhich way wentdid he Nowgo And his sons hadshowed seenhim whatthe way which the man of God wentwho that came from Judah had gone
13:13 And he said untoto his sons Saddle me the ass for me So they saddled him the ass; for him and he rodemounted thereonit
13:14 And he went after the man of God and found him sitting under an oak; and he said untoto him ArtAre thouyou the man of God thatwho camestcame from Judah And he said I am
13:15 Then he said untoto him Come home with me and eat bread
13:16 And he said I may not return with theeyou noror go in with theeyou; neither will I eat bread nor drink water with theeyou in this place:;
13:17 for it was said to me by the word of Jehovahthe ThouLord shaltYou shall neither eat no bread nor drink water there nor turnreturn again to go by the way that thouyou camestcame
13:18 And he said untoto him I also am a prophet as thouyou art;are and an angel spakespoke untoto me by the word of Jehovahthe Lord saying Bring him back with theeyou into thyyour house that he may eat bread and drink water But he lied untoto him
13:19 So he went back with him and didate eat bread in his house and drank water
13:20 And it came to pass as they sat at the table that the word of Jehovahthe Lord came untoto the prophet thatwho had brought him back;
13:21 and he cried untoto the man of God thatwho came from Judah saying Thus saithsays Jehovahthe ForasmuchLord asBecause thouyou hasthave beendisobeyed disobedient unto the mouthword of Jehovahthe Lord and hasthave not kept the commandment which Jehovahthe thyLord your God commanded theeyou
13:22 but camesthave come back and hasthave eaten bread and drunk water in the place of which he said to theeyou Eat no bread and drink no water; thyyour body shall not come untoto the sepulchretomb of thyyour fathers

21:21 Behold I will bring evil upon theeyou; andI will utterly sweep theeyou away and will cut off from Ahab every manmale childbond andor himfree that is shut up and him that is left at large in Israel:;
21:22 and I will make thyyour house like the house of JeroboamJerobo′am the son of Nebat and like the house of BaashaBa′asha the son of AhijahAhi′jah for the provocationanger wherewithto thouwhich hastyou have provoked me toand angerbecause andyou hasthave made Israel to sin

21:25 ButThere there was none like unto Ahab who didsold sell himself to do thatwhat which was evil in the sight of Jehovahthe Lord like Ahab whom JezebelJez′ebel his wife stirredincited up
21:26 AndHe he did very abominably in followinggoing after idols accordingas to all that the Amorites didhad done whom Jehovahthe Lord cast out before the childrenpeople of Israel
21:27 And it came to pass when Ahab heard those words that he rent his clothes and put sackcloth upon his flesh and fasted and lay in sackcloth and went softlyabout dejectedly

22:5 And JehoshaphatJehosh′aphat said untoto the king of Israel Inquire first I pray thee for the word of Jehovahthe Lord
22:6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together about four hundred men and said untoto them Shall I go to battle against Ramoth gilead to battle or shall I forbear And they said Go up; for the Lord will delivergive it into the hand of the king
