1:1 Paul and Timothy, bond servants of Christ Jesus, to all the saints in Christ Jesus thatwho are atin Philippi, withincluding the bishopsoverseers and deacons:
1:3 I thank my God uponin all my remembrance of you,
1:4 always inoffering everyprayer supplicationwith ofjoy minein onmy behalfevery ofprayer for you all making my supplication with joy,
1:5 forin view of your fellowshipparticipation in furtherance of the gospel from the first day until now;.
1:6 beingFor I am confident of this very thing, that heHe who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus Christ:.
1:7 evenFor as it is only right for me to befeel thusthis mindedway onabout behalf of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuchsince as, both in my bondsimprisonment and in the defencedefense and confirmation of the gospel, yeyou all are partakers of grace with me of grace.
1:8 For God is my witness, how I long afterfor you all inwith the tenderaffection mercies of Christ Jesus.
1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yetstill more and more in real knowledge and all discernment;,
1:10 so that yeyou may approve the things that are excellent;, thatin yeorder mayto be sincere and voidblameless ofuntil offence unto the day of Christ;
1:11 beinghaving been filled with the fruitsfruit of righteousness, which arecomes through Jesus Christ, untoto the glory and praise of God.
1:12 Now I wouldwant have you to know, brethren, that themy thingscircumstances which happened unto me have fallenturned out ratherfor unto the greater progress of the gospel;,
1:13 so that my bondsimprisonment becamein manifestthe incause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard, and to alleveryone the rest;else,
1:14 and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord, beingbecause confidentof through my bondsimprisonment, arehave far more abundantlycourage bold to speak the word of God without fear.
1:15 Some, indeedto preachbe sure, are preaching Christ even offrom envy and strife;, andbut some also offrom good will:;
1:16 the onelatter do it out of love, knowing that I am setappointed for the defencedefense of the gospel;
1:17 but the otherformer proclaim Christ out of factionselfish ambition, notrather sincerelythan from pure motives, thinking to raisecause upme afflictiondistress for me in my bondsimprisonment.
1:18 What then? onlyOnly that in every way, whether in pretencepretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and thereinin this I rejoice, yeayes, and I will rejoice.
1:19 For I know that this shall turn out tofor my salvation,deliverance through your supplicationprayers and the supplyprovision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
1:20 according to my earnest expectation and hope, that inI nothing shall Inot be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, asChrist always,shall soeven now, alsoas Christalways, shall be magnifiedexalted in my body, whether by life, or by death.
1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
1:22 But if I am to live on in the flesh,—if, this shallwill bringmean fruitfruitful fromlabor myfor work,me; thenand what I shalldo choosenot I know notwhich to choose.
1:23 But I am inhard apressed straitfrom betwixtboth the twodirections, having the desire to depart and be with Christ;, for itthat is very farmuch better:;
1:24 yet to abideremain on in the flesh is more needfulnecessary for your sake.
1:25 And havingconvinced of this confidence, I know that I shall abide,remain yea, and abidecontinue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith;,
1:26 so that your gloryingproud confidence in me may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presencecoming withto you again.
1:27 Only letconduct youryourselves mannerin ofa lifemanner be worthy of the gospel of Christ:; so that, whether I come and see you or beremain absent, I may hear of youryou state, that yeyou standare faststanding firm in one spirit, with one soulmind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
1:28 and in nothingno affrightedway alarmed by theyour adversaries:opponents which is fora themsign anof evidentdestruction tokenfor of perditionthem, but of yoursalvation salvationfor you, and that too, from God;.
1:29 becauseFor to you it hathhas been granted infor theChrists behalf of Christsake, not only to believe onin himHim, but also to suffer infor hisHis behalf:sake,
1:30 havingexperiencing the same conflict which yeyou saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
2:1 If therefore there is therefore any exhortationencouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tenderaffection mercies and compassionscompassion,
2:2 make full my joy, thatcomplete yeby bebeing of the same mind, havingmaintaining the same love, beingunited ofin one accordspirit, ofintent on one mind;purpose.
2:3 doingDo nothing throughfrom factionselfishness or throughempty vaingloryconceit, but inwith lowlinesshumility of mind let each countingof otheryou betterregard one another as more important than himself;
2:4 do not lookingmerely eachlook ofout youfor toyour his own thingspersonal interests, but each of you also tofor the thingsinterests of others.
2:5 Have this mindattitude in you,yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus:,
2:6 who, existingalthough He existed in the form of God, counteddid not theregard being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped,
2:7 but emptied himselfHimself, taking the form of a bond servant, and being made in the likeness of men;.
2:8 andAnd being found in fashionappearance as a man, heHe humbled himself,Himself by becoming obedient evento untothe point of death, yea,even the death ofon thea cross.
2:9 WhereforeTherefore also God highly exalted himHim, and gavebestowed untoon himHim the name which is above every name;,
2:10 that inat the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of thingsthose who are in heaven, and things on earth, and things under the earth,
2:12 So then, my beloved, evenjust as yeyou have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
2:13 for it is God who workethis at work in you, both to will and to work, for hisHis good pleasure.
2:14 Do all things without murmuringsgrumbling andor questionings:disputing;
2:15 that yeyou may becomeprove yourselves to be blameless and harmlessinnocent, children of God withoutabove blemishreproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom yeyou areappear seen as lights in the world,
2:16 holding forthfast the word of life;, so that in the day of Christ I may have whereofcause to glory inbecause the day of Christ, that I did not run in vain neithernor labortoil in vain.
2:17 Yea,But andeven if I am offeredbeing poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy,rejoice and rejoiceshare my joy with you all:.
2:18 andAnd you too, I urge you, rejoice in the same mannerway doand yeshare alsoyour joy, and rejoice with me.
2:19 But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy shortlyto untoyou youshortly, so that I also may be ofencouraged good comfort, when I knowlearn of your statecondition.
2:20 For I have no manone likeminded,else of kindred spirit who will caregenuinely trulybe concerned for your statewelfare.
2:21 For they all seek after their own interests, not thethose things of Christ Jesus Christ.
2:22 But yeyou know theof proofhis ofproven him,worth that, as a child serveth a father, so he served with me in the furtherance of the gospel like a child serving his father.
2:23 HimTherefore therefore I hope to send forthwithhim immediately, soas soon as I shall see how itthings will go with me:;
2:24 butand I trust in the Lord that I myself also shall comebe coming shortly.
2:25 But I countedthought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother and fellow worker and fellow soldier, andwho is also your messenger and minister to my need;
2:26 sincebecause he longedwas afterlonging for you all, and was soredistressed troubled, because yeyou had heard that he was sick:.
2:27 forFor indeed he was sick nighto untothe point of death:, but God had mercy on him;, and not on him only, but also on me also, thatlest I mightshould not have sorrow upon sorrow.
2:28 Therefore I have sent him thereforeall the more diligently,eagerly in order that, when yeyou see him again, yeyou may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowfulconcerned about you.
2:29 ReceiveTherefore receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy;, and hold suchmen like him in honor:high regard;
2:30 because he came close to death for the work of Christ he came nigh unto death, hazardingrisking his life to supplycomplete thatwhat which was lackingdeficient in your service towardto me.
3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things toagain you,is no trouble to me, indeedand it is nota irksome,safeguard but for you it is safe.
3:2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the concision:false circumcision;
3:3 for we are the true circumcision, who worship byin the Spirit of God, and glory in Christ Jesus, and haveput no confidence in the flesh:,
3:4 thoughalthough I myself might have confidence even in the flesh:. ifIf anyanyone otherelse manhas thinketha mind to haveput confidence in the flesh, I yetfar more:
3:5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stocknation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as touchingto the lawLaw, a Pharisee;
3:6 as touchingto zeal, persecutinga persecutor of the church; as touchingto the righteousness which is in the lawLaw, found blameless.
3:7 HowbeitBut whatwhatever things were gain to me, thesethose havethings I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
3:8 YeaMore verilythan that, and I count all things to be loss forin theview excellency of the knowledgesurpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord:, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but refuse,rubbish in order that I may gain Christ,
3:9 and may be found in himHim, not having a righteousness of minemy own, evenderived thatfrom which is of the lawLaw, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which iscomes from God byon the basis of faith:,
3:10 that I may know himHim, and the power of hisHis resurrection, and the fellowship of hisHis sufferings, becomingbeing conformed untoto hisHis death;
3:11 ifin byorder anythat means I may attain untoto the resurrection from the dead.
3:12 Not that I have already obtained it, or amhave already madebecome perfect:, but I press on, ifin soorder be that I may lay hold onof that for which also I was laid hold onof by Christ Jesus.
3:13 Brethren, I countdo not regard myself yetas tohaving have laid hold: of it yet; but one thing I do,: forgetting thewhat thingslies which are behind, and stretchingreaching forward to thewhat thingslies which are beforeahead,
3:14 I press on toward the goal untofor the prize of the highupward callingcall of God in Christ Jesus.
3:15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, behave thusthis minded:attitude; and if in anything yeyou arehave otherwisea mindeddifferent attitude, thisGod alsowill shallreveal Godthat revealalso untoto you:;
3:16 onlyhowever, whereuntolet weus havekeep attained,living by that same rulestandard letto uswhich walkwe have attained.
3:17 Brethren, bejoin yein imitatorsfollowing togethermy of meexample, and markobserve themthose thatwho so walk evenaccording asto yethe havepattern usyou forhave anin ensampleus.
3:18 For many walk, of whom I often told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:,
3:19 whose end is perditiondestruction, whose god is thetheir bellyappetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who mindset their minds on earthly things.
3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven;, whencefrom which also we eagerly wait for a SaviourSavior, the Lord Jesus Christ:;
3:21 who shallwill fashiontransform anew the body of our humiliation,humble thatstate itinto mayconformity bewith conformed to the body of hisHis glory, accordingby tothe exertion of the workingpower wherebythat heHe ishas able even to subject all things untoto himselfHimself.
4:1 WhereforeTherefore, my beloved brethren belovedwhom andI longedlong forto see, my joy and crown, so stand fastfirm in the Lord, my beloved.
4:2 I exhorturge Euodia, and I exhorturge Syntyche, to belive ofin theharmony same mind in the Lord.
4:3 YeaIndeed, true comrade, I beseechask theeyou also, trueto yokefellow, help these women, forwho theyhave laboredshared withmy mestruggle in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also, and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always:; again I will say, Rejoice.rejoice!
4:5 Let your forbearanceforbearing spirit be known untoto all men. The Lord is at handnear.
4:6 InBe nothinganxious befor anxious;nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known untoto God.
4:7 And the peace of God, which passethsurpasses all understandingcomprehension, shall guard your hearts and your thoughtsminds in Christ Jesus.
4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are true, whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are honorable, whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are justright, whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are pure, whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are lovely, whatsoeverwhatever thingsis are of good report;repute, if there beis any virtue,excellence and if thereanything beworthy anyof praise, thinklet your mind dwell on these things.
4:9 The things whichyou yehave both learned and received and heard and sawseen in me, practice these things; do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
4:10 But I rejoicerejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at lengthlast yeyou have revived your thoughtconcern for me; whereinindeed, yeyou didwere indeedconcerned take thoughtbefore, but yeyou lacked opportunity.
4:11 Not that I speak infrom respect of want:; for I have learned, to be content in whatsoeverwhatever statecircumstances I am, therein to be content.
4:12 I know how to beget abasedalong with humble means, and I also know also how to abound:live in everythingprosperity; in any and inevery allcircumstance thingsI have I learned the secret bothof tobeing be filled and togoing be hungry, both toof aboundhaving abundance and tosuffering be in wantneed.
4:13 I can do all things inthrough himHim thatwho strengthenethstrengthens me.
4:14 HowbeitNevertheless, yeyou didhave done well thatto yeshare hadwith fellowshipme within my affliction.
4:15 And yeyou yourselves also know, ye Philippians, that inat the beginningfirst preaching of the gospel, whenafter I departed from Macedonia, no church hadshared fellowship with me in the matter of giving and receiving but yeyou onlyalone;
4:16 for even in Thessalonica yeyou sent oncea andgift againmore untothan once for my needneeds.
4:17 Not that I seek for the gift; itself, but I seek for the fruitprofit thatwhich increasethincreases to your account.
4:18 But I have allreceived thingseverything in full, and abound:have an abundance; I am filledamply supplied, having received from Epaphroditus thewhat thingsyou thathave came from yousent, an odor of a sweetfragrant smellaroma, aan acceptable sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.
4:19 And my God shall supply everyall needyour ofneeds yours according to hisHis riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
