| 1:2 |
TheHe same was in the beginning with God. |
| 1:3 |
All things werecame madeinto throughbeing him;by Him, and withoutapart himfrom wasHim notnothing anythingcame madeinto being that hathhas beencome madeinto being. |
| 1:4 |
In himHim was life;, and the life was the light of men. |
| 1:5 |
And the light shinethshines in the darkness;, and the darkness apprehendeddid not comprehend it not. |
| 1:7 |
TheHe same came for a witness, that he might bear witness of the light, that all might believe through him. |
| 1:9 |
There was the true light, even the light which lighteth every man, coming into the world, enlightens every man. |
| 1:10 |
He was in the world, and the world was made through himHim, and the world knewdid himnot notknow Him. |
| 1:11 |
He came untoto hisHis own, and theythose thatwho were hisHis own receiveddid himnot notreceive Him. |
| 1:12 |
But as many as received himHim, to them He gave he the right to become children of God, even to themthose thatwho believe onin hisHis name:, |
| 1:13 |
who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. |
| 1:14 |
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld hisHis glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. |
| 1:15 |
John bearethbore witness of himHim, and criethcried out, saying, This was heHe of whom I said, He thatwho comethcomes after me ishas becomea beforehigher me:rank than I, for heHe wasexisted before me. |
| 1:16 |
For of hisHis fulness we have all received, and grace forupon grace. |
| 1:17 |
For the lawLaw was given through Moses; grace and truth camewere realized through Jesus Christ. |
| 1:18 |
No man hathhas seen God at any time; the only begotten SonGod, who is in the bosom of the Father, heHe hathhas declaredexplained himHim. |
| 1:19 |
And this is the witness of John, when the Jews sent untoto him from Jerusalem priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who artare thouyou? |
| 1:20 |
And he confessed, and denieddid not; deny, and he confessed, I am not the Christ. |
| 1:21 |
And they asked him, What then? ArtAre thouyou Elijah? And he saithsaid, I am not. ArtAre thouyou the prophetProphet? And he answered, No. |
| 1:22 |
They said thereforethen untoto him, Who artare thou?you, so that we may give an answer to themthose thatwho sent us.? What sayestdo thouyou ofsay thyselfabout yourself? |
| 1:23 |
He said, I am thea voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said Isaiah the prophet said. |
| 1:24 |
AndNow they had been sent from the Pharisees. |
| 1:25 |
And they asked him, and said untoto him, Why then baptizestare thouyou baptizing, if thouyou artare not the Christ, neithernor Elijah, neithernor the prophetProphet? |
| 1:26 |
John answered them, saying, I baptize in water:, inbut theamong midst of you standethstands oneOne whom yeyou knowdo not, know. |
| 1:27 |
evenIt heis thatHe comethwho comes after me, the latchetthong of whose shoesandal I am not worthy to unlooseuntie. |
| 1:28 |
These things weretook doneplace in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing. |
| 1:29 |
OnThe thenext morrowday he seethsaw Jesus coming untoto him, and saithsaid, Behold, the Lamb of God, thatwho takethtakes away the sin of the world! |
| 1:30 |
This is heHe on behalf of whom I said, After me comethcomes a manMan who ishas becomea beforehigher me:rank than I, for heHe wasexisted before me. |
| 1:31 |
And I knewdid him not; recognize Him, but in order that heHe shouldmight be mademanifested manifest to Israel, forI this cause came I baptizing in water. |
| 1:32 |
And John barebore witness, saying, I have beheld the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven;, and itHe aboderemained upon himHim. |
| 1:33 |
And I knewdid him not: recognize Him, but heHe thatwho sent me to baptize in water, he said untoto me, UponHe whomsoeverupon thouwhom shaltyou see the Spirit descending, and abidingremaining upon himHim, thethis same is hethe thatone baptizethwho baptizes in the Holy Spirit. |
| 1:35 |
Again on the morrownext day John was standing, andwith two of his disciples;, |
| 1:36 |
and he looked upon Jesus as heHe walked, and saithsaid, Behold, the Lamb of God! |
| 1:38 |
And Jesus turned, and beheld them following, and saithsaid untoto them, What do you seek ye? And they said untoto himHim, Rabbi which istranslated tomeans say, being interpreted, Teacher, where abidestare thouYou staying? |
| 1:39 |
He saithsaid untoto them, Come, and yeyou shallwill see. They came therefore and saw where heHe abodewas staying; and they abodestayed with himHim that day:, for it was about the tenth hour. |
| 1:40 |
One of the two thatwho heard John speak, and followed himHim, was Andrew, Simon Peters brother. |
| 1:41 |
He findethfound first his own brother Simon, and saithsaid untoto him, We have found the Messiah which is,translated beingmeans interpreted, Christ. |
| 1:42 |
He brought him untoto Jesus. Jesus looked uponat him, and said, ThouYou artare Simon the son of John:; thouyou shaltshall be called Cephas which is bytranslated interpretation, Peter. |
| 1:43 |
OnThe thenext morrowday heHe waspurposed minded to go forth into Galilee, and heHe findethfound Philip:. andAnd Jesus saithsaid untoto him, Follow meMe. |
| 1:45 |
Philip findethfound Nathanael, and saithsaid untoto him, We have found him,Him of whom Moses in the law,Law and also the prophets,Prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. |
| 1:46 |
And Nathanael said untoto him, Can any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saithsaid untoto him, Come and see. |
| 1:47 |
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to himHim, and saithsaid of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! |
| 1:48 |
Nathanael saithsaid untoto himHim, WhenceHow knowestdo thouYou know me? Jesus answered and said untoto him, Before Philip called theeyou, when thouyou wastwere under the fig tree, I saw theeyou. |
| 1:49 |
Nathanael answered himHim, Rabbi, thouYou artare the Son of God; thouYou artare the King of Israel. |
| 1:50 |
Jesus answered and said untoto him, Because I said untoto thee, you that I saw theeyou underneathunder the fig tree, believestdo thouyou believe? thouYou shaltshall see greater things than these. |
| 1:51 |
And heHe saithsaid untoto him, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Yeyou shall see the heavenheavens opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending uponon the Son of manMan. |
| 2:1 |
And on the third day there was a marriagewedding in Cana of Galilee;, and the mother of Jesus was there:; |
| 2:2 |
and Jesus also was biddeninvited, and hisHis disciples, to the marriagewedding. |
| 2:3 |
And when the wine failedgave out, the mother of Jesus saithsaid untoto himHim, They have no wine. |
| 2:4 |
And Jesus saithsaid untoto her, Woman, what havedo I have to do with theeyou? mineMy hour ishas not yet come. |
| 2:5 |
His mother saithsaid untoto the servants, WhatsoeverWhatever heHe saithsays untoto you, do it. |
| 2:6 |
Now there were six stone waterpots of stone set there afterfor the JewsJewish mannercustom of purifyingpurification, containing twotwenty or threethirty firkinsgallons apieceeach. |
| 2:7 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. |
| 2:8 |
And heHe saithsaid untoto them, Draw some out now, and beartake untoit theto ruler of the feastheadwaiter. And they baretook it to him. |
| 2:9 |
And when the rulerheadwaiter of the feast tasted the water nowwhich had become wine, and knewdid not whenceknow where it wascame from but the servants thatwho had drawn the water knew, the rulerheadwaiter ofcalled the feast calleth the bridegroom, |
| 2:10 |
and saithsaid untoto him, Every man settethserves on first the good wine; first, and when men have drunk freely, then that which is worse:poorer; thouyou hasthave kept the good wine until now. |
| 2:11 |
This beginning of hisHis signs Jesus did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested hisHis glory;, and hisHis disciples believed onin himHim. |
| 2:12 |
After this heHe went down to Capernaum, he,He and hisHis mother, and hisHis brethrenbrothers, and hisHis disciples; and there they abodestayed nota manyfew days. |
| 2:13 |
And the passoverPassover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. |
| 2:14 |
And heHe found in the temple those thatwho soldwere selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the changersmoneychangers of money sitting:seated. |
| 2:15 |
andAnd heHe made a scourge of cords, and castdrove them all out of the temple, bothwith the sheep and the oxen; and heHe poured out the changerscoins moneyof the moneychangers, and overthrewoverturned their tables; |
| 2:16 |
and to themthose thatwho soldwere selling the doves heHe said, Take these things henceaway; makestop notmaking myMy Fathers house a house of merchandise. |
| 2:17 |
His disciples remembered that it was written, Zeal for thyThy house shallwill eatconsume me up. |
| 2:18 |
The Jews therefore answered and said untoto himHim, What sign showestdo thouYou untoshow to us, seeing that thouYou doestdo these things? |
| 2:19 |
Jesus answered and said untoto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. |
| 2:20 |
The Jews therefore said, FortyIt andtook forty six years wasto build this temple in building, and wiltwill thouYou raise it up in three days? |
| 2:21 |
But heHe spakewas speaking of the temple of hisHis body. |
| 2:22 |
When therefore heHe was raised from the dead, hisHis disciples remembered that heHe spakesaid this; and they believed the scriptureScripture, and the word which Jesus had saidspoken. |
| 2:23 |
Now when heHe was in Jerusalem at the passoverPassover, during the feast, many believed onin hisHis name, beholding hisHis signs which heHe didwas doing. |
| 2:24 |
But Jesus, didon His part, was not trustentrusting himselfHimself untoto them, for thatHe he knew all men, |
| 2:25 |
and because heHe neededdid not thatneed anyanyone oneto should bear witness concerning man; for heHe himselfHimself knew what was in man. |
| 3:1 |
Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:; |
| 3:2 |
thethis sameman came untoto himHim by night, and said to himHim, Rabbi, we know that thouYou arthave a teacher come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that thouYou doest,do exceptunless God beis with him. |
| 3:3 |
Jesus answered and said untoto him, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto theeyou, Exceptunless one beis born anewagain, he cannot see the kingdom of God. |
| 3:4 |
Nicodemus saithsaid untoto himHim, How can a man be born when he is old? canHe hecannot enter a second time into his mothers womb, and be born, can he? |
| 3:5 |
Jesus answered, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto theeyou, Exceptunless one beis born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. |
| 3:6 |
That which is born of the flesh is flesh;, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. |
| 3:7 |
MarvelDo not marvel that I said untoto theeyou, YeYou must be born anewagain. |
| 3:8 |
The wind blowethblows where it will, wishes and thouyou hearesthear the voicesound thereofof it, but knowestdo not whenceknow where it cometh, comes from and whitherwhere it goeth:is going; so is everyeveryone onewho that is born of the Spirit. |
| 3:9 |
Nicodemus answered and said untoto himHim, How can these things be? |
| 3:10 |
Jesus answered and said untoto him, ArtAre thouyou the teacher of Israel, and understandestdo not understand these things? |
| 3:11 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto theeyou, Wewe speak that which we know, and bear witness of that which we have seen; and yeyou receivedo not receive our witness. |
| 3:12 |
If I told you earthly things and yeyou believedo not believe, how shall yeyou believe if I tell you heavenly things? |
| 3:13 |
And no one hathhas ascended into heaven, but heHe thatwho descended outfrom of heaven, even the Son of man, who is in heavenMan. |
| 3:14 |
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of manMan be lifted up; |
| 3:15 |
that whosoeverwhoever believethbelieves may in himHim have eternal life. |
| 3:16 |
For God so loved the world, that heHe gave hisHis only begotten Son, that whosoeverwhoever believethbelieves onin himHim should not perish, but have eternal life. |
| 3:17 |
For God sentdid not send the Son into the world to judge the world;, but that the world should be saved through himHim. |
| 3:18 |
He thatwho believethbelieves onin himHim is not judged:; he thatwho believethdoes not hathbelieve has been judged already, because he hathhas not believed onin the name of the only begotten Son of God. |
| 3:19 |
And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their worksdeeds were evil. |
| 3:20 |
For everyeveryone onewho thatdoes doeth evil hatethhates the light, and comethdoes not come to the light, lest his worksdeeds should be reprovedexposed. |
| 3:21 |
But he thatwho doethpractices the truth comethcomes to the light, that his worksdeeds may be mademanifested manifest,as thathaving they have been wrought in God. |
| 3:22 |
After these things came Jesus and hisHis disciples came into the land of Judaea;Judea, and there heHe tarriedwas spending time with them, and baptizedbaptizing. |
| 3:23 |
And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there:; and they came, were coming and were being baptized. |
| 3:24 |
For John washad not yet castbeen thrown into prison. |
| 3:25 |
There arose therefore a questioningdiscussion on the part of Johns disciples with a Jew about purifyingpurification. |
| 3:26 |
And they came untoto John, and said to him, Rabbi, heHe thatwho was with theeyou beyond the Jordan, to whom thouyou hasthave borne witness, behold, theHe sameis baptizethbaptizing, and all menare comecoming to himHim. |
| 3:27 |
John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, exceptunless it havehas been given him from heaven. |
| 3:28 |
YeYou yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but, that I amhave been sent before himHim. |
| 3:29 |
He thatwho hathhas the bride is the bridegroom:; but the friend of the bridegroom, thatwho standethstands and hearethhears him, rejoicethrejoices greatly because of the bridegrooms voice:. And so this my joy thereforeof ismine has been made full. |
| 3:31 |
He thatwho comethcomes from above is above all:, he thatwho is of the earth is offrom the earth, and speaks of the earth. heHe speaketh:who hecomes that cometh from heaven is above all. |
| 3:32 |
What heHe hathhas seen and heard, of that heHe bearethbears witness; and no man receivethreceives hisHis witness. |
| 3:33 |
He thatwho hathhas received hisHis witness hathhas set his seal to this, that God is true. |
| 3:34 |
For heHe whom God hathhas sent speakethspeaks the words of God:; for heHe givethgives not the Spirit bywithout measure. |
| 3:35 |
The Father lovethloves the Son, and hathhas given all things into hisHis hand. |
| 3:36 |
He thatwho believethbelieves onin the Son hathhas eternal life; but he thatwho obeyethdoes not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abidethabides on him. |
| 4:2 |
although Jesus himselfHimself baptizedwas not baptizing, but hisHis disciples were, |
| 4:3 |
heHe left JudaeaJudea, and departed again into Galilee. |
| 4:4 |
And heHe musthad needsto pass through Samaria. |
| 4:5 |
So heHe comethcame to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph:; |
| 4:6 |
and Jacobs well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied withfrom hisHis journey, satwas sitting thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. |
| 4:7 |
There comethcame a woman of Samaria to draw water:. Jesus saithsaid untoto her, Give meMe toa drink. |
| 4:8 |
For hisHis disciples werehad gone away into the city to buy food. |
| 4:9 |
The Samaritan woman therefore saithsaid untoto himHim, How is it that thouYou, being a Jew, askestask me for a drink ofsince me,I who am a Samaritan woman? For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. |
| 4:10 |
Jesus answered and said untoto her, If thouyou knewestknew the gift of God, and who it is thatwho saithsays to theeyou, Give meMe toa drink;, thouyou wouldestwould have asked of himHim, and heHe would have given theeyou living water. |
| 4:11 |
TheShe womansaid saithto unto himHim, Sir, thouYou hasthave nothing to draw with, and the well is deep:; whencewhere then hastdo thouYou get that living water? |
| 4:12 |
ArtYou thouare not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well, and drank thereofof it himself, and his sons, and his cattle? |
| 4:13 |
Jesus answered and said untoto her, EveryEveryone onewho thatdrinks drinketh of this water shall thirst again:; |
| 4:14 |
but whosoeverwhoever drinkethdrinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up untoto eternal life. |
| 4:15 |
The woman saithsaid untoto himHim, Sir, give me this water, thatso I thirstwill not be thirsty, neithernor come all the way hitherhere to draw. |
| 4:16 |
JesusHe saithsaid untoto her, Go, call thyyour husband, and come hitherhere. |
| 4:17 |
The woman answered and said unto him, I have no husband. Jesus saithsaid untoto her, ThouYou saidsthave well said, I have no husband:; |
| 4:18 |
for thouyou hasthave had five husbands;, and hethe one whom thouyou now hasthave is not thyyour husband:; this hastyou thouhave said truly. |
| 4:19 |
The woman saithsaid untoto himHim, Sir, I perceive that thouYou artare a prophet. |
| 4:20 |
Our fathers worshippedworshiped in this mountain;, and yeyou people say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. |
| 4:21 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto her, Woman, believe meMe, thean hour cometh,is coming when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, shall yeyou worship the Father. |
| 4:22 |
YeYou worship that which yeyou knowdo not: know; we worship that which we know;, for salvation is from the Jews. |
| 4:23 |
But thean hour comethis coming, and now is, when the true worshippersworshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth:; for such dothpeople the Father seekseeks to be hisHis worshippersworshipers. |
| 4:24 |
God is aspirit, Spirit: and theythose thatwho worship himHim must worship in spirit and truth. |
| 4:25 |
The woman saithsaid untoto himHim, I know that Messiah comethis hecoming thatHe who is called Christ:; when hethat isOne comecomes, heHe will declare untoall usthings allto thingsus. |
| 4:26 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto her, I thatwho speak untoto theeyou am heHe. |
| 4:27 |
And uponat this camepoint hisHis disciples; came, and they marvelledmarveled that heHe washad been speaking with a woman; yet no manone said, What seekestdo thouYou seek? or, Why speakestdo thouYou speak with her? |
| 4:28 |
So the woman left her waterpot, and went away into the city, and saithsaid to the peoplemen, |
| 4:29 |
Come, see a man, who told me all the things that ever I did:have candone; this beis not the Christ, is it? |
| 4:30 |
They went out of the city, and were coming to himHim. |
| 4:31 |
In the meanmeanwhile while the disciples prayedwere himrequesting Him, saying, Rabbi, eat. |
| 4:32 |
But heHe said untoto them, I have meatfood to eat that yeyou do not know notabout. |
| 4:33 |
The disciples therefore saidwere onesaying to one another, HathNo anyone man brought himHim aughtanything to eat, did he? |
| 4:34 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto them, My meatfood is to do the will of himHim thatwho sent meMe, and to accomplish hisHis work. |
| 4:35 |
SayDo you not yesay, There are yet four months, and then comethcomes the harvest ? beholdBehold, I say untoto you, Liftlift up your eyes, and look on the fields, that they are white alreadyfor unto harvest. |
| 4:36 |
HeAlready thathe reapethwho receivethreaps is receiving wages, and gatherethis gathering fruit untofor life eternal; that he thatwho sowethsows and he thatwho reapethreaps may rejoice together. |
| 4:37 |
For hereinin isthis case the saying is true, One sowethsows, and another reapethreaps. |
| 4:38 |
I sent you to reap that whereonfor yewhich you have not labored:; others have labored, and yeyou arehave entered into their labor. |
| 4:39 |
And from that city many of the Samaritans believed onin himHim because of the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all the things that ever I didhave done. |
| 4:40 |
So when the Samaritans came untoto himHim, they besoughtwere himasking Him to abidestay with them:; and heHe abodestayed there two days. |
| 4:41 |
And many more believed because of hisHis word; |
| 4:42 |
and they saidwere saying to the woman, NowIt weis believe,no notlonger because of thywhat speaking:you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and know that this One is indeed the SaviourSavior of the world. |
| 4:43 |
And after the two days heHe went forth from thencethere into Galilee. |
| 4:44 |
For Jesus himselfHimself testified, that a prophet hathhas no honor in his own country. |
| 4:45 |
So when heHe came intoto Galilee, the GalilaeansGalileans received himHim, having seen all the things that heHe did in Jerusalem at the feast:; for they themselves also went untoto the feast. |
| 4:46 |
He came therefore again untoto Cana of Galilee, where heHe had made the water wine. And there was a certain noblemanroyal official, whose son was sick at Capernaum. |
| 4:47 |
When he heard that Jesus washad come out of JudaeaJudea into Galilee, he went untoto himHim, and besoughtwas himrequesting thatHim heto would come down, and heal his son; for he was at the point of death. |
| 4:48 |
Jesus therefore said untoto him, ExceptUnless yeyou people see signs and wonders, yeyou simply will innot no wise believe. |
| 4:49 |
The noblemanroyal saithofficial untosaid himto Him, Sir, come down erebefore my child diedies. |
| 4:50 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto him, Go thyyour way; thyyour son livethlives. The man believed the word that Jesus spakespoke untoto him, and he wentstarted his wayoff. |
| 4:51 |
And as he was now going down, his servantsslaves met him, saying, that his son livedwas living. |
| 4:52 |
So he inquired of them the hour when he began to amendget better. They said therefore untoto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. |
| 4:53 |
So the father knew that it was at that hour in which Jesus said untoto him, ThyYour son liveth:lives; and he himself believed, and his whole househousehold. |
| 4:54 |
This is again thea second sign that Jesus didperformed, havingwhen He had come out of JudaeaJudea into Galilee. |
| 5:1 |
After these things there was a feast of the Jews;, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. |
| 5:2 |
Now there is in Jerusalem by the sheep gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew Bethesda, having five porchesporticoes. |
| 5:3 |
In these lay a multitude of themthose thatwho were sick, blind, haltlame, and withered., waiting for the moving of the waters; |
| 5:5 |
And a certain man was there, who had been thirty and eight years in his infirmitysickness. |
| 5:6 |
When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been now a long time in that casecondition, heHe saithsaid untoto him, WouldestDo thouyou bewish madeto wholeget well? |
| 5:7 |
The sick man answered himHim, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: when the water is stirred up, but while I am coming, another steppethsteps down before me. |
| 5:8 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto him, Arise, take up thyyour bedpallet, and walk. |
| 5:9 |
And straightwayimmediately the man wasbecame made wholewell, and took up his bedpallet and walkedbegan to walk. Now it was the sabbathSabbath on that day. |
| 5:10 |
SoTherefore the Jews saidwere untosaying to him thatwho was cured, It is the sabbathSabbath, and it is not lawfulpermissible for theeyou to takecarry upyour thy bedpallet. |
| 5:11 |
But he answered them, He thatwho made me whole, well was the sameone who said untoto me, Take up thyyour bed, pallet and walk. |
| 5:12 |
They asked him, Who is the man thatwho said untoto theeyou, Take up thyyour bedpallet, and walk ? |
| 5:13 |
But he thatwho was healed knewdid not know who it was; for Jesus had conveyedslipped himself away, while there was a multitudecrowd being in thethat place. |
| 5:14 |
Afterward Jesus findethfound him in the temple, and said untoto him, Behold, thouyou arthave madebecome whole:well; do not sin no moreanymore, lestso athat nothing worse thingmay befall theeyou. |
| 5:15 |
The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him wholewell. |
| 5:16 |
And for this causereason the Jews persecutedwere persecuting Jesus, because heHe didwas doing these things on the sabbathSabbath. |
| 5:17 |
But JesusHe answered them, My Father workethis evenworking until now, and I workMyself am working. |
| 5:18 |
For this cause therefore the Jews soughtwere seeking all the more to kill himHim, because heHe not only brakewas breaking the sabbathSabbath, but also calledwas calling God hisHis own Father, making himselfHimself equal with God. |
| 5:19 |
Jesus therefore answered and saidwas untosaying to them, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Thethe Son can do nothing of himselfHimself, butunless whatit heis seethsomething He sees the Father doing:; for whatwhatever thingsthe soeverFather he doethdoes, these things the Son also doethdoes in like manner. |
| 5:20 |
For the Father lovethloves the Son, and showethshows himHim all things that himselfHe doeth:Himself is doing; and greater works than these will heHe show himHim, that yeyou may marvel. |
| 5:21 |
For just as the Father raisethraises the dead and givethgives them life, even so the Son also givethgives life to whom heHe willwishes. |
| 5:22 |
For neithernot dotheven the Father judgejudges any mananyone, but heHe hathhas given all judgment untoto the Son;, |
| 5:23 |
in order that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He thatwho honorethdoes not honor the Son honorethdoes not honor the Father thatwho sent himHim. |
| 5:24 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Hehe thatwho hearethhears myMy word, and believethbelieves himHim thatwho sent meMe, hathhas eternal life, and comethdoes not come into judgment, but hathhas passed out of death into life. |
| 5:25 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Thean hour cometh,is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and theythose thatwho hear shall live. |
| 5:26 |
For just as the Father hathhas life in himselfHimself, even so He gave he to the Son also to have life in himself:Himself; |
| 5:27 |
and heHe gave himHim authority to execute judgment, because heHe is athe sonSon of manMan. |
| 5:28 |
MarvelDo not marvel at this:; for thean hour comethis coming, in which all thatwho are in the tombs shall hear hisHis voice, |
| 5:29 |
and shall come forth; theythose thatwho havedid donethe good, untodeeds theto a resurrection of life;, andthose theywho thatcommitted havethe done evil, untodeeds theto a resurrection of judgment. |
| 5:30 |
I can of myself do nothing: ason My own initiative. As I hear, I judge:; and myMy judgment is righteous;just, because I seekdo not mineseek My own will, but the will of himHim thatwho sent meMe. |
| 5:31 |
If I alone bear witness of myselfMyself, myMy witnesstestimony is not true. |
| 5:32 |
ItThere is another thatwho bearethbears witness of me;Me, and I know that the witnesstestimony which heHe witnessethbears of meMe is true. |
| 5:33 |
YeYou have sent untoto John, and he hathhas borne witness untoto the truth. |
| 5:34 |
But the witness which I receive is not from man:, howbeitbut I say these things, that yeyou may be saved. |
| 5:35 |
He was the lamp that burnethwas burning and shineth;was shining and yeyou were willing to rejoice for a seasonwhile in his light. |
| 5:36 |
But the witness which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hathhas given meMe to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of meMe, that the Father hathhas sent meMe. |
| 5:37 |
And the Father thatwho sent meMe, heHe hathhas borne witness of meMe. YeYou have neither heard hisHis voice at any time, nor seen hisHis form. |
| 5:38 |
And yeyou havedo not hishave His word abiding in you:, for whomyou hedo sent, not himbelieve yeHim believewhom notHe sent. |
| 5:39 |
YeYou search the scripturesScriptures, because yeyou think that in them yeyou have eternal life; and theseit areis theythese whichthat bear witness of meMe; |
| 5:40 |
and yeyou willare notunwilling to come to meMe, that yeyou may have life. |
| 5:41 |
I receivedo not receive glory from men.; |
| 5:42 |
Butbut I know you, that yeyou havedo not have the love of God in yourselves. |
| 5:43 |
I amhave come in myMy Fathers name, and yeyou do not receive meMe; not: if another shall come in his own name, himyou ye will receive him. |
| 5:44 |
How can yeyou believe, whowhen you receive glory from one of another, and you do not seek the glory that comethis from the one and only God ye seek not? |
| 5:45 |
ThinkDo not think that I will accuse you tobefore the Father:; therethe is one thatwho accusethaccuses you, evenis Moses, onin whom yeyou have set your hope. |
| 5:46 |
For if yeyou believed Moses, yeyou would believe meMe; for he wrote of meMe. |
| 5:47 |
But if yeyou believedo not believe his writings, how shallwill yeyou believe myMy words? |
| 6:1 |
After these things Jesus went away to the other side of the seaSea of Galilee, whichor is the sea of Tiberias. |
| 6:2 |
And a great multitude followedwas himfollowing Him, because they beheldwere seeing the signs which heHe didwas performing on themthose thatwho were sick. |
| 6:3 |
And Jesus went up intoon the mountain, and there heHe sat with hisHis disciples. |
| 6:4 |
Now the passoverPassover, the feast of the Jews, was at hand. |
| 6:5 |
Jesus therefore lifting up hisHis eyes, and seeing that a great multitude comethwas untocoming himto Him, saithsaid untoto Philip, WhenceWhere are we to buy bread, that these may eat? |
| 6:6 |
And this heHe saidwas saying to provetest him:; for heHe himselfHimself knew what heHe wouldwas intending to do. |
| 6:7 |
Philip answered himHim, Two hundred shillingsdenarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, thatfor everyeveryone oneto mayreceive take a little. |
| 6:8 |
One of hisHis disciples, Andrew, Simon Peters brother, saithsaid untoto himHim, |
| 6:9 |
There is a lad here, who hathhas five barley loaves, and two fishes:fish, but what are these amongfor so many people? |
| 6:10 |
Jesus said, MakeHave the people sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. |
| 6:11 |
Jesus therefore took the loaves; and having given thanks, heHe distributed to themthose thatwho were set downseated; likewise also of the fishesfish as much as they wouldwanted. |
| 6:12 |
And when they were filled, heHe saithsaid untoto hisHis disciples, Gather up the brokenleftover piecesfragments which remain over, that nothing may be lost. |
| 6:13 |
SoAnd so they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with brokenfragments pieces from the five barley loaves, which remainedwere left over untoby themthose thatwho had eaten. |
| 6:14 |
When therefore the people saw the sign which heHe didhad performed, they said, This is of a truth the prophetProphet thatwho comethis to come into the world. |
| 6:15 |
Jesus therefore perceiving that they were aboutintending to come and take himHim by force, to make himHim king, withdrew again intoto the mountain himselfby Himself alone. |
| 6:16 |
AndNow when evening came, hisHis disciples went down untoto the sea;, |
| 6:17 |
and theyafter enteredgetting into a boat, andthey werestarted goingto overcross the sea untoto Capernaum. And it washad nowalready become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. |
| 6:18 |
And the sea wasbegan risingto bybe reasonstirred ofup because a greatstrong wind thatwas blewblowing. |
| 6:19 |
When therefore they had rowed about fivethree and twenty or thirtyfour furlongsmiles, they beholdbeheld Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nighnear untoto the boat:; and they were afraidfrightened. |
| 6:20 |
But heHe saithsaid untoto them, It is I; bedo not be afraid. |
| 6:21 |
They were willing therefore to receive himHim into the boat:; and straightwayimmediately the boat was at the land whitherto which they were going. |
| 6:22 |
OnThe thenext morrowday the multitude that stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other small boat there, saveexcept one, and that Jesus enteredhad not entered with hisHis disciples into the boat, but that hisHis disciples wenthad gone away alone. |
| 6:23 |
howbeitThere there came other small boats from Tiberias nighnear untoto the place where they ate the bread after the Lord had given thanks:. |
| 6:24 |
whenWhen the multitude therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neithernor hisHis disciples, they themselves got into the small boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. |
| 6:25 |
And when they found himHim on the other side of the sea, they said untoto himHim, Rabbi, when camestdid thouYou hitherget here? |
| 6:26 |
Jesus answered them and said, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Yeyou seek meMe, not because yeyou saw signs, but because yeyou ate of the loaves, and were filled. |
| 6:27 |
WorkDo not work for the food which perishethperishes, but for the food which abidethendures untoto eternal life, which the Son of manMan shall give untoto you:, for himon Him the Father, even God, hathhas sealedset His seal. |
| 6:28 |
They said therefore untoto himHim, What mustshall we do, that we may work the works of God? |
| 6:29 |
Jesus answered and said untoto them, This is the work of God, that yeyou believe onin himHim whom heHe hathhas sent. |
| 6:30 |
They said therefore untoto himHim, What then doestdo thouYou do for a sign, that we may see, and believe theeYou? whatWhat workestwork thoudo You perform? |
| 6:32 |
Jesus therefore said untoto them, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Itit wasis not Moses thatwho gavehas given you the bread out of heaven;, but myit is My Father givethwho gives you the true bread out of heaven. |
| 6:33 |
For the bread of God is that which comethcomes down out of heaven, and givethgives life untoto the world. |
| 6:34 |
They said therefore untoto himHim, Lord, evermore give us this bread. |
| 6:35 |
Jesus said untoto them, I am the bread of life:; he thatwho comethcomes to meMe shall not hunger, and he thatwho believethbelieves onin meMe shall never thirst. |
| 6:36 |
But I said untoto you, that yeyou have seen meMe, and yet believedo not believe. |
| 6:37 |
All that which the Father givethgives meMe shall come untoto me;Me, and himthe thatone comethwho comes to meMe I will incertainly nonot wise cast out. |
| 6:38 |
For I amhave come down from heaven, not to do mineMy own will, but the will of himHim thatwho sent meMe. |
| 6:39 |
And this is the will of himHim thatwho sent meMe, that of all that whichHe hehas hath given meMe I should lose nothing, but should raise it up aton the last day. |
| 6:40 |
For this is the will of myMy Father, that everyeveryone onewho thatbeholds beholdeth the Son, and believethbelieves onin himHim, shouldmay have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up aton the last day. |
| 6:41 |
The Jews therefore murmuredwere concerninggrumbling himabout Him, because heHe said, I am the bread whichthat came down out of heaven. |
| 6:42 |
And they saidwere saying, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? howHow dothdoes heHe now say, I amhave come down out of heaven ? |
| 6:43 |
Jesus answered and said untoto them, MurmurDo not grumble among yourselves. |
| 6:44 |
No manone can come to meMe, exceptunless the Father thatwho sent meMe drawdraws him:; and I will raise him up inon the last day. |
| 6:45 |
It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught of God. EveryEveryone onewho thathas hath heard and learned from the Father, andcomes hathto learned, cometh unto meMe. |
| 6:46 |
Not that any man hathhas seen the Father, saveexcept hethe thatOne who is from God,; heHe hathhas seen the Father. |
| 6:47 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Hehe thatwho believethbelieves hathhas eternal life. |
| 6:50 |
This is the bread which comethcomes down out of heaven, so that aone man may eat thereof,of it and not die. |
| 6:51 |
I am the living bread whichthat came down out of heaven:; if anyanyone maneats eat of this bread, he shall live forforever; ever: yea and the bread also which I willshall give is my flesh, for the life of the world is My flesh. |
| 6:52 |
The Jews therefore strovebegan oneto argue with one another, saying, How can this man give us hisHis flesh to eat? |
| 6:53 |
Jesus therefore said untoto them, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Exceptunless yeyou eat the flesh of the Son of manMan and drink hisHis blood, yeyou have notno life in yourselves. |
| 6:54 |
He thatwho eatetheats myMy flesh and drinkethdrinks myMy blood hathhas eternal life;, and I will raise him up aton the last day. |
| 6:55 |
For myMy flesh is meattrue indeedfood, and myMy blood is true drink indeed. |
| 6:56 |
He thatwho eatetheats myMy flesh and drinkethdrinks myMy blood abidethabides in meMe, and I in him. |
| 6:57 |
As the living Father sent meMe, and I live because of the Father;, so he thatwho eatetheats meMe, he also shall live because of meMe. |
| 6:58 |
This is the bread which came down out of heaven:; not as the fathers ate, and died;, he thatwho eatetheats this bread shall live for everforever. |
| 6:59 |
These things He said he in the synagogue, as heHe taught in Capernaum. |
| 6:60 |
Many therefore of hisHis disciples, when they heard this, said, This is a harddifficult sayingstatement; who can hearlisten to it? |
| 6:61 |
But Jesus, knowingconscious in himself that hisHis disciples murmuredgrumbled at this, said untoto them, DothDoes this cause you to stumble? |
| 6:62 |
What then if yeyou should behold the Son of manMan ascending where heHe was before? |
| 6:63 |
It is the spiritSpirit thatwho givethgives life; the flesh profitethprofits nothing:; the words that I have spoken untoto you are spirit, and are life. |
| 6:64 |
But there are some of you thatwho believedo not believe. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were thatwho believeddid not believe, and who it was that shouldwould betray himHim. |
| 6:65 |
And heHe saidwas saying, For this causereason I have I said untoto you, that no manone can come untoto meMe, exceptunless it behas givenbeen untogranted him offrom the Father. |
| 6:66 |
UponAs a result of this many of hisHis disciples went backwithdrew, and walkedwere nonot morewalking with himHim anymore. |
| 6:67 |
Jesus said therefore untoto the twelve, WouldYou yedo alsonot want to go away also, do you? |
| 6:68 |
Simon Peter answered himHim, Lord, to whom shall we go? thouYou hasthave the words of eternal life. |
| 6:69 |
And we have believed and have come to know that thouYou artare the Holy One of God. |
| 6:70 |
Jesus answered them, Did I Myself not I choose you, the twelve, and yet one of you is a devil? |
| 6:71 |
Now heHe spakemeant of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, itone wasof thatthe should betray himtwelve, beingwas onegoing ofto thebetray twelveHim. |
| 7:1 |
And after these things Jesus walkedwas walking in Galilee:; for heHe wouldwas notunwilling to walk in JudaeaJudea, because the Jews soughtwere seeking to kill himHim. |
| 7:2 |
Now the feast of the Jews, the feastFeast of tabernaclesBooths, was at hand. |
| 7:3 |
His brethrenbrothers therefore said untoto himHim, Depart hencefrom here, and go into JudaeaJudea, that thyYour disciples also may behold thyYour works which thouYou doestare doing. |
| 7:4 |
For no manone doethdoes anything in secret, andwhen he himself seekethseeks to be known openlypublicly. If thouYou doestdo these things, manifestshow thyselfYourself to the world. |
| 7:5 |
For not even hisHis brethrenbrothers didwere notbelieving believein on himHim. |
| 7:6 |
Jesus therefore saithsaid untoto them, My time is not yet come;at hand, but your time is always readyopportune. |
| 7:7 |
The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, hates Me because I testify of it, that its worksdeeds are evil. |
| 7:8 |
Go ye up untoto the feast: yourselves; I godo not go up untoto this feast; because myMy time ishas not yet fulfilledfully come. |
| 7:9 |
And having said these things untoto them, heHe abodestayed still in Galilee. |
| 7:10 |
But when hisHis brethrenbrothers werehad gone up untoto the feast, then wentHe heHimself also went up, not publicly, but as it were, in secret. |
| 7:11 |
The Jews therefore soughtwere himseeking Him at the feast, and saidwere saying, Where is heHe? |
| 7:12 |
And there was much murmuringgrumbling among the multitudes concerning him:Him; some saidwere saying, He is a good man; others saidwere saying, NotNo, soon the contrary, butHe heleads leadeth the multitude astray. |
| 7:13 |
Yet no manone spakewas speaking openly of himHim for fear of the Jews. |
| 7:14 |
But when it was now the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taughtbegan to teach. |
| 7:15 |
The Jews therefore marvelledwere marveling, saying, How knowethhas this man lettersbecome learned, having never learnedbeen educated? |
| 7:16 |
Jesus therefore answered them, and said, My teaching is not mineMine, but hisHis thatwho sent meMe. |
| 7:17 |
If any man willethis willing to do hisHis will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or whether I speak from myselfMyself. |
| 7:18 |
He thatwho speakethspeaks from himself seekethseeks his own glory:; but heHe thatwho seekethis seeking the glory of himthe thatOne who sent himHim, theHe same is true, and there is no unrighteousness is in himHim. |
| 7:19 |
Did not Moses give you the lawLaw, and yet none of you doethcarries out the lawLaw? Why do you seek ye to kill meMe? |
| 7:20 |
The multitude answered, ThouYou hasthave a demon:! whoWho seekethseeks to kill theeYou? |
| 7:21 |
Jesus answered and said untoto them, I did one workdeed, and yeyou all marvel because thereof. |
| 7:22 |
On this account Moses hathhas given you circumcision not thatbecause it is offrom Moses, but offrom the fathers;, and on the sabbathSabbath yeyou circumcise a man. |
| 7:23 |
If a man receivethreceives circumcision on the sabbath,Sabbath that the lawLaw of Moses may not be broken;, are yeyou wrothangry with me,Me because I made aan entire man everywell whit whole on the sabbathSabbath? |
| 7:24 |
JudgeDo not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment. |
| 7:25 |
SomeTherefore thereforesome of themthe people of Jerusalem saidwere saying, Is this not thisthe heman whom they seekare seeking to kill? |
| 7:26 |
And lolook, heHe speakethis openlyspeaking publicly, and they sayare saying nothing untoto himHim. CanThe itrulers bedo thatnot thereally rulers indeed know that this is the Christ, do they? |
| 7:27 |
HowbeitHowever, we know where this man whenceis hefrom; is: but whenwhenever the Christ comethmay come, no one knowethknows whencewhere heHe is from. |
| 7:28 |
Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, YeYou both know me,Me and know whencewhere I am from; and I amhave not come of myselfMyself, but heHe thatwho sent meMe is true, whom yeyou knowdo not know. |
| 7:29 |
I know himHim; because I am from himHim, and heHe sent meMe. |
| 7:30 |
They soughtwere seeking therefore to takeseize him:Him; and no man laid his hand on himHim, because hisHis hour washad not yet come. |
| 7:31 |
But many of the multitude many believed onin himHim; and they saidwere saying, When the Christ shall come, He will henot doperform more signs than those which this man hathhas, donewill He? |
| 7:32 |
The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuringmuttering these things concerningabout himHim; and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to takeseize himHim. |
| 7:33 |
Jesus therefore said, YetFor a little while amlonger I am with you, andthen I go untoto himHim thatwho sent meMe. |
| 7:34 |
YeYou shall seek meMe, and shall not find me:Me; and where I am, yeyou cannot come. |
| 7:35 |
The Jews therefore said amongto themselvesone another, WhitherWhere willdoes this man intend to go that we shall not find himHim? willHe heis not intending to go untoto the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks, is He? |
| 7:36 |
What is this wordstatement that heHe said, YeYou shallwill seek meMe, and shallwill not find meMe; and where I am, yeyou cannot come ? |
| 7:37 |
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If any man thirstis thirsty, let him come untoto meMe and drink. |
| 7:38 |
He thatwho believethbelieves onin meMe, as the scriptureScripture hath said, fromFrom withinhis himinnermost being shall flow rivers of living water. |
| 7:39 |
But this spakeHe hespoke of the Spirit, whichwhom theythose thatwho believed onin himHim were to receive:; for the Spirit was not yet given;, because Jesus was not yet glorified. |
| 7:40 |
Some of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, saidwere saying, This certainly is of a truth the prophetProphet. |
| 7:41 |
Others saidwere saying, This is the Christ. ButStill someothers said, were Whatsaying, dothSurely the Christ is not going to come outfrom ofGalilee, Galileeis He? |
| 7:42 |
HathHas not the scriptureScripture said that the Christ comethcomes offrom the seedoffspring of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was? |
| 7:43 |
So there arose a division in the multitude because of himHim. |
| 7:44 |
And some of them wouldwanted haveto takenseize him;Him, but no manone laid hands on himHim. |
| 7:45 |
The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees;, and they said untoto them, Why did yeyou not bring himHim? |
| 7:46 |
The officers answered, Never did a man sospeak spakethe way this man speaks. |
| 7:47 |
The Pharisees therefore answered them, AreYou yehave not also been led astray, have you? |
| 7:48 |
HathNo anyone of the rulers or Pharisees has believed onin himHim, orhas of the Phariseeshe? |
| 7:49 |
But this multitude thatwhich knowethdoes not know the lawLaw areis accursed. |
| 7:50 |
Nicodemus saithsaid untoto them he thatwho came to himHim before, being one of them, |
| 7:51 |
DothOur ourLaw lawdoes not judge a man, exceptunless it first hearhears from himselfhim and knowknows what he doethis doing, does it? |
| 7:52 |
They answered and said untoto him, ArtYou thouare not also offrom Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. |
| 7:53 |
And theyeveryone went everyto man unto his own house:home. |
| 8:1 |
butBut Jesus went untoto the mountMount of Olives. |
| 8:2 |
And early in the morning heHe came again into the temple, and all the people camewere untocoming himto Him; and heHe sat down, and taughtbegan to teach them. |
| 8:3 |
And the scribes and the Pharisees bringbrought a woman takencaught in adultery;, and having set her in the midst, |
| 8:4 |
they saysaid untoto himHim, Teacher, this woman hathhas been takencaught in adultery, in the very act. |
| 8:5 |
Now in the lawLaw Moses commanded us to stone such: women; what then sayestdo thouYou of hersay? |
| 8:6 |
And this they saidwere saying this, tryingtesting himHim, in order that they might have whereofgrounds tofor accuseaccusing himHim. But Jesus stooped down, and with hisHis finger wrote on the ground. |
| 8:7 |
But when they continuedpersisted in asking himHim, heHe liftedstraightened up himself, and said untoto them, He thatwho is without sin among you, let him be the first castto throw a stone at her. |
| 8:8 |
And again heHe stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground. |
| 8:9 |
And they, when they heard it, wentthey began to go out one by one, beginning fromwith the eldestolder ones, even unto the last: and JesusHe was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst. |
| 8:10 |
And Jesusstraightening lifted up himself, andJesus said untoto her, Woman, where are they? didDid no manone condemn theeyou? |
| 8:11 |
And she said, No manone, Lord. And Jesus said, Neither do I condemn thee:you; go thyyour way;. fromFrom henceforthnow on sin no more. |
| 8:12 |
Again therefore Jesus spakespoke untoto them, saying, I am the light of the world:; he thatwho followethfollows meMe shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life. |
| 8:13 |
The Pharisees therefore said untoto himHim, ThouYou bearestare bearing witness of thyselfYourself; thyYour witness is not true. |
| 8:14 |
Jesus answered and said untoto them, Even if I bear witness of myselfMyself, myMy witness is true; for I know whencewhere I came from, and whitherwhere I goam going; but yeyou knowdo not whenceknow where I come from, or whitherwhere I goam going. |
| 8:15 |
YeYou people judge afteraccording to the flesh; I judgeam nonot manjudging anyone. |
| 8:16 |
YeaBut andeven if I do judge, myMy judgment is true; for I am not alone in it, but I and theHe Fatherwho that sent meMe. |
| 8:17 |
YeaEven and in your law it ishas been written, that the witnesstestimony of two men is true. |
| 8:18 |
I am heHe thatwho bearethbears witness of myselfMyself, and the Father thatwho sent meMe bearethbears witness of meMe. |
| 8:19 |
TheyAnd saidso thereforethey untowere himsaying to Him, Where is thyYour Father? Jesus answered, YeYou know neither meMe, nor myMy Father:; if yeyou knew meMe, yeyou would know myMy Father also. |
| 8:20 |
These words spakeHe hespoke in the treasury, as heHe taught in the temple:; and no manone tookseized him;Him, because hisHis hour washad not yet come. |
| 8:21 |
He said therefore again untoto them, I go away, and yeyou shall seek meMe, and shall die in your sin:; whitherwhere I goam going, yeyou cannot come. |
| 8:22 |
TheTherefore the Jews thereforewere saidsaying, WillSurely heHe will not kill himselfHimself, thatwill heHe, saithsince He says, WhitherWhere I goam going, yeyou cannot come ? |
| 8:23 |
And heHe saidwas untosaying to them, YeYou are from beneath;below, I am from above:; yeyou are of this world;, I am not of this world. |
| 8:24 |
I said therefore untoto you, that yeyou shall die in your sins:; for exceptunless yeyou believe that I am heHe, yeyou shall die in your sins. |
| 8:25 |
TheyAnd saidso thereforethey untowere himsaying to Him, Who artare thouYou? Jesus said untoto them, EvenWhat thathave which I havebeen alsosaying spokento unto you from the beginning.? |
| 8:26 |
I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you:, howbeitbut heHe thatwho sent meMe is true; and the things which I heard from himHim, these I speak Ito unto the world. |
| 8:27 |
They perceiveddid not realize that heHe spakehad been speaking to them ofabout the Father. |
| 8:28 |
Jesus therefore said, When yeyou havelift lifted up the Son of manMan, then shallyou yewill know that I am heHe, and that I do nothing ofon myselfMy own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught me, I speak these thingsMe. |
| 8:29 |
And heHe thatwho sent meMe is with meMe; heHe hathhas not left meMe alone;, for I always do always the things that are pleasing to himHim. |
| 8:30 |
As heHe spakespoke these things, many believedcame onto himbelieve in Him. |
| 8:31 |
Jesus therefore saidwas saying to those Jews thatwho had believed himHim, If yeyou abide in myMy word, then you are ye truly mydisciples disciplesof Mine; |
| 8:32 |
and yeyou shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |
| 8:33 |
They answered unto himHim, We are Abrahams seedoffspring, and have never yet been inenslaved bondage to anyanyone; man: how sayestis thouit that You say, YeYou shall bebecome madefree free? |
| 8:34 |
Jesus answered them, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Everyeveryone onewho thatcommits committeth sin is the bondservantslave of sin. |
| 8:35 |
And the bondservantslave abidethdoes not remain in the house forforever; ever: the son abidethdoes forremain everforever. |
| 8:36 |
If therefore the Son shall make you free, yeyou shall be free indeed. |
| 8:37 |
I know that yeyou are Abrahams seedoffspring; yet yeyou seek to kill meMe, because myMy word hathhas notno freeplace course in you. |
| 8:38 |
I speak the things which I have seen with myMy Father:; andtherefore yeyou also do the things which yeyou heard from your father. |
| 8:39 |
They answered and said untoto himHim, OurAbraham father is Abrahamour father. Jesus saithsaid untoto them, If yeyou wereare Abrahams children, ye would do the worksdeeds of Abraham. |
| 8:40 |
But nowas yeit seekis, you are seeking to kill meMe, a man thatwho hathhas told you the truth, which I heard from God:; this Abraham did not Abrahamdo. |
| 8:41 |
YeYou doare doing the worksdeeds of your father. They said untoto himHim, We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. |
| 8:42 |
Jesus said untoto them, If God were your Father, yeyou would love me:Me; for I cameproceeded forth and amhave come from God;, for neitherI have Inot even come ofon myselfMy own initiative, but heHe sent meMe. |
| 8:43 |
Why do yeyou not understand mywhat speechI am saying? EvenIt is because yeyou cannot hear myMy word. |
| 8:44 |
YeYou are of your father the devil, and theyou lustswant ofto yourdo fatherthe itdesires isof your will to dofather. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standethdoes not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. WhenWhenever he speakethspeaks a lie, he speakethspeaks offrom his own: nature; for he is a liar, and the father thereofof lies. |
| 8:45 |
But because I sayspeak the truth, yeyou do not believe me notMe. |
| 8:46 |
Which one of you convictethconvicts meMe of sin? If I sayspeak truth, why do yeyou not believe meMe? |
| 8:47 |
He thatwho is of God hearethhears the words of God:; for this causereason yeyou do not hear them not, because yeyou are not of God. |
| 8:48 |
The Jews answered and said untoto himHim, SayDo we not wellsay rightly that thouYou artare a Samaritan, and hasthave a demon? |
| 8:49 |
Jesus answered, I havedo not have a demon; but I honor myMy Father, and yeyou dishonor meMe. |
| 8:50 |
But I seekdo not mineseek ownMy glory:; there is oneOne thatwho seekethseeks and judgethjudges. |
| 8:51 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Ifif aanyone mankeeps keepMy my word, he shall never see death. |
| 8:52 |
The Jews said untoto himHim, Now we know that thouYou hasthave a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets also; and thouYou sayestsay, If aanyone mankeeps keepMy my word, he shall never taste of death. |
| 8:53 |
ArtSurely thouYou are not greater than our father Abraham, who died? andThe the prophets died: too; whom makestdo thouYou thyselfmake Yourself out to be? |
| 8:54 |
Jesus answered, If I glorify myselfMyself, myMy glory is nothing:; it is myMy Father thatwho glorifiethglorifies me;Me, of whom yeyou say, thatHe he is yourour God; |
| 8:55 |
and yeyou have not knowncome him:to know Him, but I know himHim; and if I should say, that I do not know him notHim, I shall be a liar like unto you, a liar: but I do know himHim, and keep hisHis word. |
| 8:56 |
Your father Abraham rejoiced to see myMy day;, and he saw it, and was glad. |
| 8:57 |
The Jews therefore said untoto himHim, ThouYou artare not yet fifty years old, and hasthave thouYou seen Abraham? |
| 8:58 |
Jesus said untoto them, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Beforebefore Abraham was born, I am. |
| 8:59 |
TheyTherefore tookthey picked up stones therefore to castthrow at him:Him; but Jesus hid himselfHimself, and went out of the temple. |
| 9:1 |
And as heHe passed by, heHe saw a man blind from his birth. |
| 9:2 |
And hisHis disciples asked himHim, saying, Rabbi, who sinned, this man, or his parents, that he should be born blind? |
| 9:3 |
Jesus answered, NeitherIt didwas neither that this man sinsinned, nor his parents:; but it was in order that the works of God shouldmight be madedisplayed manifest in him. |
| 9:4 |
We must work the works of himHim thatwho sent meMe, whileas long as it is day:; the night comethis coming, when no man can work. |
| 9:5 |
WhenWhile I am in the world, I am the light of the world. |
| 9:6 |
When heHe had thussaid spokenthis, heHe spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and anointedapplied histhe eyesclay withto thehis clayeyes, |
| 9:7 |
and said untoto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam which is by interpretationtranslated, Sent. HeAnd so he went away therefore, and washed, and came back seeing. |
| 9:8 |
The neighbors therefore, and theythose thatwho previously saw him aforetime,as that he was a beggar, saidwere saying, Is not this hethe thatone satwho used to sit and beggedbeg? |
| 9:9 |
Others saidwere saying, ItThis is he:, still others saidwere saying, No, but he is like him. He saidkept saying, I am hethe one. |
| 9:10 |
TheyTherefore saidthey thereforewere untosaying to him, How then were thineyour eyes opened? |
| 9:11 |
He answered, The man thatwho is called Jesus made clay, and anointed minemy eyes, and said untoto me, Go to Siloam, and wash:; so I went away and washed, and I received sight. |
| 9:12 |
And they said untoto him, Where is heHe? He saithsaid, I knowdo not know. |
| 9:13 |
They bringbrought to the Pharisees him thatwho aforetime was formerly blind. |
| 9:14 |
Now it was thea sabbathSabbath on the day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes. |
| 9:15 |
Again, therefore, the Pharisees also askedwere asking him how he received his sight. And he said untoto them, He putapplied clay uponto minemy eyes, and I washed, and I see. |
| 9:16 |
SomeTherefore thereforesome of the Pharisees saidwere saying, This man is not from God, because heHe keepethdoes not keep the sabbathSabbath. But others saidwere saying, How can a man thatwho is a sinner doperform such signs? And there was a division among them. |
| 9:17 |
They saysaid therefore untoto the blind man again, What sayestdo thouyou ofsay himabout Him, insince thatHe he opened thineyour eyes? And he said, He is a prophet. |
| 9:18 |
The Jews therefore did not believe concerningit of him, that he had been blind, and had received his sight, until they called the parents of himthe thatvery one who had received his sight, |
| 9:19 |
and askedquestioned them, saying, Is this your son, who yeyou say was born blind? Then how thendoes doth he now see? |
| 9:20 |
His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:; |
| 9:21 |
but how he now seethsees, we knowdo not know; or who opened his eyes, we knowdo not: askknow. Ask him; he is of age;, he shall speak for himself. |
| 9:22 |
TheseHis thingsparents said histhis parents, because they fearedwere afraid of the Jews:; for the Jews had already agreed already, that if anyanyone man should confess himHim to be Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue. |
| 9:23 |
ThereforeFor saidthis reason his parents said, He is of age; ask him. |
| 9:24 |
So they called a second time they called the man thatwho washad been blind, and said untoto him, Give glory to God:; we know that this man is a sinner. |
| 9:25 |
He therefore answered, Whether heHe is a sinner, I knowdo not: know; one thing I do know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. |
| 9:26 |
They said therefore untoto him, What did heHe do to theeyou? howHow openeddid heHe thineopen your eyes? |
| 9:27 |
He answered them, I told you even nowalready, and yeyou did not hearlisten; whereforewhy woulddo yeyou want to hear it again? wouldYou yedo alsonot want to become hisHis disciples too, do you? |
| 9:28 |
And they reviled him, and said, ThouYou artare hisHis disciple;, but we are disciples of Moses. |
| 9:29 |
We know that God hathhas spoken untoto Moses:; but as for this man, we knowdo not whenceknow hewhere He is from. |
| 9:30 |
The man answered and said untoto them, WhyWell, hereinhere is thean marvelamazing thing, that yeyou knowdo not whenceknow hewhere He is from, and yet heHe opened minemy eyes. |
| 9:31 |
We know that God hearethdoes not hear sinners:; but if anyanyone manis beGod a worshipper of Godfearing, and dodoes hisHis will, himHe hehears hearethhim. |
| 9:32 |
Since the worldbeginning beganof time it washas never been heard that anyanyone one opened the eyes of a manperson born blind. |
| 9:33 |
If this man were not from God, heHe could do nothing. |
| 9:34 |
They answered and said untoto him, ThouYou wastwere altogether born entirely in sins, and dostare thouyou teachteaching us? And they castput him out. |
| 9:35 |
Jesus heard that they had castput him out; and finding him, heHe said, DostDo thouyou believe onin the Son of GodMan? |
| 9:36 |
He answered and said, And who is heHe, Lord, that I may believe onin himHim? |
| 9:37 |
Jesus said untoto him, ThouYou hasthave both seen himHim, and heHe itis the one who is thattalking speaketh with theeyou. |
| 9:38 |
And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshippedworshiped himHim. |
| 9:39 |
And Jesus said, For judgment I came I into this world, that theythose thatwho seedo not see may see; and that theythose thatwho see may become blind. |
| 9:40 |
Those of the Pharisees who were with himHim heard these things, and said untoto himHim, AreWe weare alsonot blind too, are we? |
| 9:41 |
Jesus said untoto them, If yeyou were blind, yeyou would have no sin:; but nowsince yeyou say, We see:, your sin remainethremains. |
| 10:1 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Hehe thatwho enterethdoes not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbethclimbs up some other way, thehe same is a thief and a robber. |
| 10:2 |
But he thatwho enterethenters in by the door is thea shepherd of the sheep. |
| 10:3 |
To him the porterdoorkeeper openeth;opens, and the sheep hear his voice:, and he callethcalls his own sheep by name, and leadethleads them out. |
| 10:4 |
When he hathputs put forth all his own, he goethgoes before them, and the sheep follow him: forbecause they know his voice. |
| 10:5 |
And a stranger they simply will they not follow, but will flee from him:, forbecause they knowdo not know the voice of strangers. |
| 10:6 |
This parablefigure spakeof speech Jesus untospoke to them:, but they understooddid not understand what those things they were which heHe spakehad untobeen saying to them. |
| 10:7 |
Jesus therefore said untoto them again, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, I am the door of the sheep. |
| 10:8 |
All thatwho came before meMe are thieves and robbers:, but the sheep did not hear them. |
| 10:9 |
I am the door; by me if anyanyone manenters enterthrough inMe, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture. |
| 10:10 |
The thief comethcomes not, only butto that he may steal, and kill, and destroy:; I came that they maymight have life, and maymight have it abundantly. |
| 10:11 |
I am the good shepherd:; the good shepherd layethlays down hisHis life for the sheep. |
| 10:12 |
He thatwho is a hireling, and not a shepherd, whosewho ownis not the sheepowner areof notthe sheep, beholdethbeholds the wolf coming, and leavethleaves the sheep, and fleethflees, and the wolf snatchethsnatches them, and scatterethscatters them:. |
| 10:13 |
heHe fleethflees because he is a hireling, and carethis not forconcerned about the sheep. |
| 10:14 |
I am the good shepherd; and I know mineMy own, and mineMy own know meMe, |
| 10:15 |
even as the Father knowethknows me,Me and I know the Father; and I lay down myMy life for the sheep. |
| 10:16 |
And I have other sheep I have, which are not of this fold:; them also I must bring them also, and they shall hear myMy voice; and they shall become one flock, with one shepherd. |
| 10:17 |
ThereforeFor doththis reason the Father loveloves meMe, because I lay down myMy life, that I may take it again. |
| 10:18 |
No one takethhas taken it away from meMe, but I lay it down ofon myselfMy own initiative. I have powerauthority to lay it down, and I have powerauthority to take it up again. This commandment I received I from myMy Father. |
| 10:20 |
And many of them saidwere saying, He hathhas a demon, and is mad;insane. whyWhy heardo yeyou himlisten to Him? |
| 10:21 |
Others saidwere saying, These are not the sayings of one demon possessed. withA a demon. Cancannot a demon open the eyes of the blind, can he? |
| 10:22 |
AndAt itthat wastime the feastFeast of the dedicationDedication took place at Jerusalem:; |
| 10:23 |
it was winter;, and Jesus was walking in the temple in Solomonsthe porchportico of Solomon. |
| 10:24 |
The Jews therefore camegathered roundaround about himHim, and saidwere untosaying himto Him, How long dostwill thouYou holdkeep us in suspense? If thouYou artare the Christ, tell us plainly. |
| 10:25 |
Jesus answered them, I told you, and yeyou believedo not: believe; the works that I do in myMy Fathers name, these bear witness of meMe. |
| 10:26 |
But yeyou believedo not believe, because yeyou are not of myMy sheep. |
| 10:27 |
My sheep hear myMy voice, and I know them, and they follow me:Me; |
| 10:28 |
and I give unto them eternal life; to them, and they shall never perish,; and no one shall snatch them out of myMy hand. |
| 10:29 |
My Father, who hathhas given them untoto meMe, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Fathers hand. |
| 10:31 |
The Jews took up stones again to stone himHim. |
| 10:32 |
Jesus answered them, ManyI goodshowed worksyou havemany Igood showedworks you from the Father; for which of thosethem worksare doyou yestoning stone meMe? |
| 10:33 |
The Jews answered himHim, For a good work we do not stone thee notYou, but for blasphemy; and because that thouYou, being a man, makestmake thyselfYourself out to be God. |
| 10:34 |
Jesus answered them, IsHas it not been written in your lawLaw, I said, Yeyou are gods ? |
| 10:35 |
If he called them gods, untoto whom the word of God came and the scriptureScripture cannot be broken, |
| 10:36 |
do you say ye of himHim, whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, ThouYou blasphemest;are blaspheming, because I said, I am the Son of God ? |
| 10:37 |
If I do not do the works of myMy Father, do not believe me not.Me; |
| 10:38 |
Butbut if I do them, though yeyou believedo not mebelieve Me, believe the works:, that yeyou may know and understand that the Father is in meMe, and I in the Father. |
| 10:39 |
TheyTherefore soughtthey were seeking again to takeseize him:Him, and heHe wenteluded forth out of their handgrasp. |
| 10:40 |
And heHe went away again beyond the Jordan intoto the place where John was at the first baptizing;, and thereHe hewas abodestaying there. |
| 10:41 |
And many came untoto him;Him and theywere saidsaying, While John indeedperformed did no sign:, butyet alleverything things whatsoever John spakesaid ofabout this man werewas true. |
| 10:42 |
And many believed onin himHim there. |
| 11:1 |
Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister Martha. |
| 11:2 |
And it was thatthe Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped hisHis feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. |
| 11:3 |
The sisters therefore sent untoto himHim, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thouYou lovestlove is sick. |
| 11:4 |
But when Jesus heard it, heHe said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified therebyby it. |
| 11:6 |
When therefore heHe heard that he was sick, heHe abodestayed atthen that time two days longer in the place where heHe was. |
| 11:7 |
Then after this heHe saithsaid to the disciples, Let us go intoto JudaeaJudea again. |
| 11:8 |
The disciples saysaid untoto himHim, Rabbi, the Jews were butjust now seeking to stone thee; You, and goestare thouYou thithergoing there again? |
| 11:9 |
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If aanyone manwalks walk in the day, he stumblethdoes not stumble, because he seethsees the light of this world. |
| 11:10 |
But if aanyone manwalks walk in the night, he stumblethstumbles, because the light is not in him. |
| 11:11 |
TheseThis thingsHe spakesaid, he: and after thisthat heHe saithsaid untoto them, Our friend Lazarus ishas fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awakeawaken him out of sleep. |
| 11:12 |
The disciples therefore said untoto himHim, Lord, if he ishas fallen asleep, he will recover. |
| 11:13 |
Now Jesus had spoken of his death:, but they thought that heHe spakewas speaking of takingliteral rest in sleep. |
| 11:14 |
Then Jesus therefore said untoto them plainly, Lazarus is dead., |
| 11:15 |
Andand I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, toso thethat intentyou ye may believe; neverthelessbut let us go untoto him. |
| 11:16 |
Thomas therefore, who is called Didymus, said untoto his fellow disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with himHim. |
| 11:17 |
So when Jesus came, heHe found that he had already been in the tomb four days already. |
| 11:18 |
Now Bethany was nighnear unto Jerusalem, about fifteentwo furlongsmiles off; |
| 11:20 |
Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went andto metmeet him:Him; but Mary still sat in the house. |
| 11:21 |
Martha therefore said untoto Jesus, Lord, if thouYou hadsthad been here, my brother hadwould not have died. |
| 11:22 |
AndEven even now I know that, whatsoeverwhatever thouYou shalt ask of God, God will give theeYou. |
| 11:23 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto her, ThyYour brother shall rise again. |
| 11:24 |
Martha saithsaid untoto himHim, I know that he shallwill rise again in the resurrection aton the last day. |
| 11:25 |
Jesus said untoto her, I am the resurrection, and the life:; he thatwho believethbelieves onin me,Me thoughshall helive die, even yetif shall he live;dies, |
| 11:26 |
and whosoevereveryone livethwho lives and believethbelieves onin meMe shall never die. BelievestDo thouyou believe this? |
| 11:27 |
She saithsaid untoto himHim, YeaYes, Lord:; I have believed that thouYou artare the Christ, the Son of God, even heHe thatwho comethcomes into the world. |
| 11:28 |
And when she had said this, she went away, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying secretly, The Teacher is here, and callethis theecalling for you. |
| 11:29 |
And she, when she heard it, she arose quickly, and wentwas untocoming himto Him. |
| 11:30 |
Now Jesus washad not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha met himHim. |
| 11:31 |
The Jews then who were with her in the house, and were consoling her, when they saw Mary, that sheMary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, supposing that she was going untoto the tomb to weep there. |
| 11:32 |
Mary thereforeTherefore, when sheMary came where Jesus was, andshe saw himHim, and fell down at hisHis feet, saying untoto himHim, Lord, if thouYou hadsthad been here, my brother hadwould not have died. |
| 11:33 |
When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping who came with her, healso groanedweeping, He was deeply moved in the spirit, and was troubled, |
| 11:34 |
and said, Where have yeyou laid him? They saysaid untoto himHim, Lord, come and see. |
| 11:36 |
TheAnd so the Jews thereforewere saidsaying, Behold how heHe loved him! |
| 11:37 |
But some of them said, Could not this man, who opened the eyes of him thatwho was blind, have causedkept that this man also shouldfrom not diedying? |
| 11:38 |
Jesus therefore again groaningbeing indeeply himselfmoved comethwithin, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone laywas lying against it. |
| 11:39 |
Jesus saithsaid, TakeRemove ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of himthe that was deaddeceased, saithsaid untoto himHim, Lord, by this time thethere bodywill decayeth;be a stench, for he hathhas been dead four days. |
| 11:40 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto her, SaidDid I not untosay thee,to thatyou, if thouyou believedstbelieve, thouyou shouldestwill see the glory of God? |
| 11:41 |
SoAnd so they tookremoved away the stone. And Jesus liftedraised upHis his eyes, and said, Father, I thank theeThee that thouThou heardest meMe. |
| 11:42 |
And I knew that thouThou hearest meMe always:; but because of the multitudepeople thatstanding standeth around I said it, that they may believe that thouThou didst send meMe. |
| 11:43 |
And when heHe had thussaid spokenthese things, heHe cried out with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. |
| 11:44 |
He thatwho washad deaddied came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clotheswrappings; and his face was boundwrapped aboutaround with a napkincloth. Jesus saithsaid untoto them, LooseUnbind him, and let him go. |
| 11:45 |
Many therefore of the Jews, who camehad come to Mary and beheld thatwhat whichHe hehad diddone, believed onin himHim. |
| 11:47 |
TheTherefore the chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gatheredconvened a council, and saidwere saying, What doare we doing? forFor this man doethis performing many signs. |
| 11:48 |
If we let himHim thusgo aloneon like this, all men will believe onin him:Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation. |
| 11:49 |
But a certain one of them, Caiaphas, beingwho was high priest that year, said untoto them, YeYou know nothing at all, |
| 11:50 |
nor do yeyou take into account that it is expedient for you that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perishshould not perish. |
| 11:51 |
Now this he saiddid not ofsay himself:on his own initiative; but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus shouldwas going to die for the nation;, |
| 11:52 |
and not for the nation only, but that heHe might also gather together into one the children of God thatwho are scattered abroad. |
| 11:53 |
So from that day forthon they tookplanned counseltogether thatto theykill might put him to deathHim. |
| 11:54 |
Jesus therefore walked no morelonger openlycontinued to walk publicly among the Jews, but departedwent thenceaway intofrom there to the country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there heHe tarriedstayed with the disciples. |
| 11:55 |
Now the passoverPassover of the Jews was at hand:, and many went up to Jerusalem out of the country before the passoverPassover, to purify themselves. |
| 11:56 |
TheyTherefore soughtthey thereforewere seeking for Jesus, and spakewere saying to one with another, as they stood in the temple, What do you think; ye?that ThatHe he will not come to the feast at all? |
| 11:57 |
Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given commandment, orders that, if anyanyone man knew where heHe was, he should showreport it, that they might takeseize himHim. |
| 12:1 |
Jesus, therefore, six days before the passoverPassover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. |
| 12:2 |
So they made himHim a supper there:, and Martha servedwas serving; but Lazarus was one of themthose thatreclining sat at meatthe table with himHim. |
| 12:3 |
Mary therefore took a pound of ointmentvery costly perfume of pure nard, very precious, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped hisHis feet with her hair:; and the house was filled with the odorfragrance of the ointmentperfume. |
| 12:4 |
But Judas Iscariot, one of hisHis disciples, thatwho shouldwas intending to betray himHim, saithsaid, |
| 12:5 |
Why was not this ointmentperfume not sold for three hundred shillingsdenarii, and given to thepoor poorpeople? |
| 12:6 |
Now this he said this, not because he caredwas forconcerned about the poor;, but because he was a thief, and havingas he had the bagmoney tookbox, awayhe used to pilfer what was put thereininto it. |
| 12:7 |
Jesus therefore said, SufferLet her toalone, in order that she may keep it againstfor the day of myMy buryingburial. |
| 12:8 |
For the poor yeyou always have always with you;, but meyou yedo have not always have Me. |
| 12:9 |
The commongreat peoplemultitude therefore of the Jews learned that heHe was there:; and they came, not for Jesus sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus also, whom heHe had raised from the dead. |
| 12:10 |
But the chief priests took counsel that they might put Lazarus also to death also; |
| 12:11 |
because thaton byaccount reason of him many of the Jews wentwere going away, and believedwere onbelieving in Jesus. |
| 12:12 |
On the morrownext aday the great multitude thatwho had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, |
| 12:13 |
took the branches of the palm trees, and went forthout to meet himHim, and criedbegan to cry out, Hosanna:! Blessed is heHe thatwho comethcomes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel. |
| 12:14 |
And Jesus, havingfinding found a young assdonkey, sat thereonon it; as it is written, |
| 12:15 |
Fear not, daughter of Zion:; behold, thyyour King comethis coming, sittingseated on ana asssdonkeys colt. |
| 12:16 |
These things understoodHis disciples did not hisunderstand disciples at the first:; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered they that these things were written of himHim, and that they had done these things untoto himHim. |
| 12:17 |
TheAnd so the multitude thereforewho thatwere was with himHim when heHe called Lazarus out of the tomb, and raised him from the dead, barewere bearing Him witness. |
| 12:18 |
For this cause also the multitude went and met himHim, forbecause that they heard that heHe had doneperformed this sign. |
| 12:19 |
The Pharisees therefore said amongto themselvesone another, BeholdYou howsee yethat prevailyou nothingare not doing any good; lolook, the world ishas gone after himHim. |
| 12:20 |
Now there were certain Greeks among those thatwho wentwere going up to worship at the feast:; |
| 12:21 |
these therefore came to Philip, who was offrom Bethsaida of Galilee, and askedbegan to ask him, saying, Sir, we wouldwish to see Jesus. |
| 12:22 |
Philip comethcame and tellethtold Andrew:; Andrew cometh, and Philip came, and they telltold Jesus. |
| 12:23 |
And Jesus answerethanswered them, saying, The hour ishas come, thatfor the Son of manMan shouldto be glorified. |
| 12:24 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Exceptunless a grain of wheat fallfalls into the earth and diedies, it abidethremains by itself alone; but if it diedies, it bearethbears much fruit. |
| 12:25 |
He thatwho lovethloves his life losethloses it; and he thatwho hatethhates his life in this world shall keep it untoto life eternal. |
| 12:26 |
If anyanyone manserves serve meMe, let him follow meMe; and where I am, there shall alsoMy my servant also be:; if anyanyone manserves serve meMe, him will the Father will honor him. |
| 12:27 |
Now isMy my soul has become troubled; and what shall I say?, Father, save meMe from this hour. ? But for this causepurpose I came Ito unto this hour. |
| 12:28 |
Father, glorify thyThy name. There came therefore a voice out of heaven,: saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. |
| 12:29 |
The multitude therefore, thatwho stood by, and heard it, saidwere saying that it had thundered:; others saidwere saying, An angel hathhas spoken to himHim. |
| 12:30 |
Jesus answered and said, This voice hathhas not come for myMy sake, but for your sakes. |
| 12:31 |
Now judgment is theupon judgment of this world:; now shall the princeruler of this world shall be cast out. |
| 12:32 |
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men untoto myselfMyself. |
| 12:33 |
But thisHe hewas said, saying signifyingthis byto whatindicate mannerthe kind of death heby shouldwhich He was to die. |
| 12:34 |
The multitude therefore answered himHim, We have heard out of the lawLaw that the Christ abidethis forto ever:remain forever; and how sayestcan thouYou say, The Son of manMan must be lifted up? whoWho is this Son of manMan? |
| 12:35 |
Jesus therefore said untoto them, YetFor a little while islonger the light is among you. Walk while yeyou have the light, that darkness may not overtake you; not: and he thatwho walkethwalks in the darkness knowethdoes not whitherknow where he goethgoes. |
| 12:36 |
While yeyou have the light, believe onin the light, in order that yeyou may become sons of light. These things spakeJesus Jesusspoke, and heHe departed and hid himselfHimself from them. |
| 12:37 |
But though heHe had doneperformed so many signs before them, yet they believedwere not onbelieving him:in Him; |
| 12:38 |
that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spakespoke, Lord, who hathhas believed our report? And to whom hathhas the arm of the Lord been revealed? |
| 12:39 |
For this cause they could not believe, for that Isaiah said again, |
| 12:40 |
He hathhas blinded their eyes, and heHe hardened their heart; Lestlest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, Andand shouldbe turnconverted, Andand I should heal them. |
| 12:41 |
These things Isaiah said Isaiah, because he saw hisHis glory;, and he spakespoke of himHim. |
| 12:42 |
Nevertheless many even of the rulers many believed onin him;Him, but because of the Pharisees they didwere not confessconfessing itHim, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:; |
| 12:43 |
for they loved the gloryapproval that is of men morerather than the gloryapproval that is of God. |
| 12:44 |
And Jesus cried out and said, He thatwho believethbelieves onin me,Me believethdoes not onbelieve mein Me, but onin himHim thatwho sent meMe. |
| 12:45 |
And he thatwho beholdethbeholds meMe beholdethbeholds himthe thatOne who sent meMe. |
| 12:46 |
I amhave come aas light into the world, that whosoevereveryone believethwho onbelieves mein Me may not abideremain in the darkness. |
| 12:47 |
And if anyanyone manhears hearMy my sayings, and does not keep them not, I do not judge him; not: for I camedid not come to judge the world, but to save the world. |
| 12:48 |
He thatwho rejectethrejects meMe, and receivethdoes not myreceive My sayings, hathhas one thatwho judgethjudges him:; the word that I spake, spoke theis samewhat shallwill judge him inat the last day. |
| 12:49 |
For I spakedid not fromspeak myself;on My own initiative, but the Father thatHimself who sent me,Me hehas hath given meMe a commandment, what Ito should say, and what Ito should speak. |
| 12:50 |
And I know that hisHis commandment is eternal life eternal; therefore the things thereforeI whichspeak, I speak, evenjust as the Father hathhas saidtold unto me, so I speakMe. |
| 13:1 |
Now before the feastFeast of the passoverPassover, Jesus knowing that hisHis hour washad come that heHe should depart out of this world untoto the Father, having loved hisHis own thatwho were in the world, heHe loved them untoto the end. |
| 13:2 |
And during supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simonsthe son of Simon, to betray himHim, |
| 13:3 |
Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into hisHis hands, and that heHe camehad come forth from God, and goethwas untogoing back to God, |
| 13:4 |
risethrose from supper, and layethlaid aside hisHis garments; and hetaking took a towel, andHe girded himselfHimself about. |
| 13:5 |
Then heHe pourethpoured water into the basin, and began to wash the disciples feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewithwith hewhich He was girded. |
| 13:6 |
SoAnd heso comethHe came to Simon Peter. He saithsaid untoto himHim, Lord, dostdo thouYou wash my feet? |
| 13:7 |
Jesus answered and said untoto him, What I do thouyou knowestdo not realize now;, but thouyou shaltshall understand hereafter. |
| 13:8 |
Peter saithsaid untoto himHim, ThouNever shaltshall neverYou wash my feet.! Jesus answered him, If I do not wash thee notyou, thouyou hasthave no part with meMe. |
| 13:9 |
Simon Peter saithsaid untoto himHim, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. |
| 13:10 |
Jesus saithsaid to him, He thatwho ishas bathed needethneeds notonly save to wash his feet, but is completely clean; every whit: and yeyou are clean, but not all of you. |
| 13:11 |
For heHe knew himthe thatone shouldwho betraywas himbetraying Him; thereforefor saidthis he,reason YeHe aresaid, notNot all of you are clean. |
| 13:12 |
SoAnd so when heHe had washed their feet, and taken hisHis garments, and satreclined downat the table again, heHe said untoto them, KnowDo yeyou know what I have done to you? |
| 13:13 |
YeYou call me,Me Teacher, and, Lord:; and yeyou sayare well;right, for so I am. |
| 13:14 |
If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, yeyou also ought to wash one anothers feet. |
| 13:15 |
For I havegave given you an example, that yeyou also should do as I havedid done to you. |
| 13:16 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Aa servantslave is not greater than his Lordmaster; neither is one thatwho is sent greater than hethe thatone who sent him. |
| 13:17 |
If yeyou know these things, blessedyou are yeblessed if yeyou do them. |
| 13:18 |
I speakdo not speak of all of you. all: I know whomthe ones I have chosen:; but it is that the scriptureScripture may be fulfilled, He thatwho eatetheats myMy bread has lifted up his heel against meMe. |
| 13:19 |
From henceforthnow on I tellam telling you before it comecomes to pass, so that, when it isdoes come to passoccur, yeyou may believe that I am heHe. |
| 13:20 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Hehe thatwho receivethreceives whomsoeverwhomever I send receivethreceives meMe; and he thatwho receivethreceives meMe receivethreceives himHim thatwho sent meMe. |
| 13:21 |
When Jesus had thussaid saidthis, heHe wasbecame troubled in the spirit, and testified, and said, VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, that one of you shallwill betray meMe. |
| 13:22 |
The disciples lookedbegan looking at one on another, doubtingat a loss to know of whomwhich heone spakeHe was speaking. |
| 13:23 |
There was at the table reclining inon Jesus bosombreast one of hisHis disciples, whom Jesus loved. |
| 13:24 |
Simon Peter therefore beckonethgestured to him, and saithsaid untoto him, Tell us who it is of whom heHe speakethis speaking. |
| 13:25 |
He, leaning back, asthus he was, on Jesus breast, saithsaid untoto himHim, Lord, who is it? |
| 13:26 |
Jesus therefore answerethanswered, HeThat it is, the one for whom I shall dip the sop, morsel and give it to him. So when heHe had dipped the sopmorsel, heHe takethtook and givethgave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. |
| 13:27 |
And after the sopmorsel, Satan then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore saithsaid untoto him, What thouyou doestdo, do quickly. |
| 13:28 |
Now no manone of those reclining at the table knew for what intentpurpose heHe spakehad said this untoto him. |
| 13:29 |
For some thoughtwere supposing, because Judas had the bagmoney box, that Jesus saidwas untosaying to him, Buy whatthe things we have need of for the feast; or else, that he should give something to the poor. |
| 13:30 |
HeAnd thenso havingafter receivedreceiving the sopmorsel he went out straightway:immediately; and it was night. |
| 13:31 |
When therefore he washad gone out, Jesus saithsaid, Now is the Son of manMan glorified, and God is glorified in himHim; |
| 13:32 |
andif God shallis glorified in Him, God will also glorify himHim in himselfHimself, and straightwaywill shallglorify heHim glorify himimmediately. |
| 13:33 |
Little children, yetI am with you a little while I am with youlonger. YeYou shall seek me:Me; and as I said untoto the Jews, Whither I go,now yesay cannotto come;you soalso, nowWhere I sayam untogoing, you cannot come. |
| 13:34 |
A new commandment I give untoto you, that yeyou love one another;, even as I have loved you, that yeyou also love one another. |
| 13:35 |
By this shall all men will know that yeyou are myMy disciples, if yeyou have love for one to another. |
| 13:36 |
Simon Peter saithsaid untoto himHim, Lord, whitherwhere goestare thouYou going? Jesus answered, WhitherWhere I go, thouyou canstcannot not follow meMe now; but thouyou shaltshall follow afterwardslater. |
| 13:37 |
Peter saithsaid untoto himHim, Lord, why cannotcan I not follow theeYou evenright now? I will lay down my life for theeYou. |
| 13:38 |
Jesus answerethanswered, WiltWill thouyou lay down thyyour life for meMe? VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto theeyou, Thea cock shall not crow, tilluntil thouyou hastdeny deniedMe methree thricetimes. |
| 14:1 |
Let not your heart be troubled:; believe in God, believe also in meMe. |
| 14:2 |
In myMy Fathers house are many mansionsdwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. |
| 14:3 |
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will receive you untoto myselfMyself; that where I am, there yeyou may be also. |
| 14:4 |
And whitheryou Iknow go,the yeway knowwhere theI wayam going. |
| 14:5 |
Thomas saithsaid untoto himHim, Lord, we knowdo not whitherknow thouwhere goest; You are going, how knowdo we know the way? |
| 14:6 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life:; no one comethcomes untoto the Father, but bythrough meMe. |
| 14:7 |
If yeyou had known meMe, yeyou would have known myMy Father also:; from henceforthnow yeon you know himHim, and have seen himHim. |
| 14:8 |
Philip saithsaid untoto himHim, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficethis enough for us. |
| 14:9 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto him, Have I been so long time with you, and dostyet thouyou have not come to know meMe, Philip? heHe thatwho hathhas seen meMe hathhas seen the Father; how sayestdo thouyou say, Show us the Father ? |
| 14:10 |
BelievestDo thouyou not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in meMe? theThe words that I say untoto you I speakdo not fromspeak myself:on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in meMe doethdoes hisHis works. |
| 14:11 |
Believe meMe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me:Me; orotherwise else believe meon foraccount of the very works sakethemselves. |
| 14:12 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Hehe thatwho believethbelieves onin meMe, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go untoto the Father. |
| 14:13 |
And whatsoeverwhatever yeyou shall ask in myMy name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. |
| 14:14 |
If yeyou shall ask Me anything in myMy name, thatI will Ido doit. |
| 14:15 |
If yeyou love meMe, yeyou will keep myMy commandments. |
| 14:16 |
And I will prayask the Father, and heHe shallwill give you another ComforterHelper, that heHe may be with you for ever, forever; |
| 14:17 |
eventhat is the Spirit of truth:, whom the world cannot receive;, forbecause it beholdethdoes him not, neitherbehold knowethHim him:or yeknow Him, but you know him;Him forbecause heHe abidethabides with you, and shallwill be in you. |
| 14:18 |
I will not leave you desolate:as orphans; I will come untoto you. |
| 14:19 |
YetAfter a little while, and the world beholdethwill mebehold Me no more; but yeyou will behold me:Me; because I live, yeyou shall live also. |
| 14:20 |
In that day yeyou shall know that I am in myMy Father, and yeyou in meMe, and I in you. |
| 14:21 |
He thatwho hathhas myMy commandments, and keepethkeeps them, he it is thatwho lovethloves me:Me; and he thatwho lovethloves meMe shall be loved ofby myMy Father, and I will love him, and will manifestdisclose myselfMyself untoto him. |
| 14:22 |
Judas not Iscariot saithsaid untoto himHim, Lord, what isthen comehas tohappened pass that thouYou wiltare manifestgoing thyselfto untodisclose Yourself to us, and not untoto the world? |
| 14:23 |
Jesus answered and said untoto him, If aanyone manloves love meMe, he will keep myMy word:; and myMy Father will love him, and weWe will come untoto him, and make ourOur abode with him. |
| 14:24 |
He thatwho lovethdoes me not keepethlove Me does not mykeep My words:; and the word which yeyou hear is not mineMine, but the Fathers who sent meMe. |
| 14:25 |
These things I have I spoken untoto you, while yet abiding with you. |
| 14:26 |
But the ComforterHelper, even the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in myMy name, heHe shallwill teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said untoto you. |
| 14:27 |
Peace I leave with you; myMy peace I give untoto you:; not as the world givethgives, givedo I untogive to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neithernor let it be fearful. |
| 14:28 |
YeYou heard howthat I said to you, I go away, and I will come untoto you. If yeyou loved meMe, yeyou would have rejoiced, because I go untoto the Father:; for the Father is greater than I. |
| 14:29 |
And now I have told you before it comecomes to pass, that, when it iscomes come to pass, yeyou may believe. |
| 14:30 |
I will nonot more speak much more with you, for the princeruler of the world cometh:is coming, and he hathhas nothing in meMe; |
| 14:31 |
but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave meMe commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hencefrom here. |
| 15:1 |
I am the true vine, and myMy Father is the husbandmanvinedresser. |
| 15:2 |
Every branch in meMe that bearethdoes not bear fruit, heHe takethtakes it away:; and every branch that bearethbears fruit, heHe cleansethprunes it, that it may bear more fruit. |
| 15:3 |
AlreadyYou ye are already clean because of the word which I have spoken untoto you. |
| 15:4 |
Abide in meMe, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, exceptunless it abideabides in the vine;, so neither can yeyou, exceptunless yeyou abide in meMe. |
| 15:5 |
I am the vine, yeyou are the branches:; Hehe thatwho abidethabides in meMe, and I in him, thehe samebears beareth much fruit:; for apart from meMe yeyou can do nothing. |
| 15:6 |
If aanyone mandoes not abide not in meMe, he is castthrown forthaway as a branch, and isdries witheredup; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. |
| 15:7 |
If yeyou abide in meMe, and myMy words abide in you, ask whatsoeverwhatever yeyou willwish, and it shall be done untofor you. |
| 15:8 |
HereinBy this is myMy Father glorified, that yeyou bear much fruit;, and so shallprove yeto be myMy disciples. |
| 15:9 |
EvenJust as the Father hathhas loved meMe, I have also have loved you:; abide ye in myMy love. |
| 15:10 |
If yeyou keep myMy commandments, yeyou shallwill abide in myMy love; evenjust as I have kept myMy Fathers commandments, and abide in hisHis love. |
| 15:11 |
These things I have I spoken untoto you, that myMy joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. |
| 15:12 |
This is myMy commandment, that yeyou love one another, evenjust as I have loved you. |
| 15:13 |
Greater love hathhas no manone than this, that aone man lay down his life for his friends. |
| 15:14 |
YeYou are myMy friends, if yeyou do thewhat things which I command you. |
| 15:15 |
No longer do I call you servants;slaves, for the servantslave knowethdoes not know what his Lordmaster doeth:is doing; but I have called you friends;, for all things that I have heard from myMy Father I have made known untoto you. |
| 15:16 |
YeYou did not choose meMe, but I chose you, and appointed you, that yeyou should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should abide:remain, that whatsoeverwhatever yeyou shall ask of the Father in myMy name, heHe may give itto you. |
| 15:17 |
TheseThis things I command you, that yeyou may love one another. |
| 15:18 |
If the world hatethhates you, yeyou know that it hathhas hated meMe before it hated you. |
| 15:19 |
If yeyou were of the world, the world would love its own:; but because yeyou are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hatethhates you. |
| 15:20 |
Remember the word that I said untoto you, A servantslave is not greater than his Lordmaster. If they persecuted meMe, they will also persecute you; if they kept myMy word, they will keep yours also. |
| 15:21 |
But all these things they will they do untoto you for myMy names sake, because they knowdo not himknow thatthe One who sent meMe. |
| 15:22 |
If I had not come and spoken untoto them, they hadwould not hadhave sin:, but now they have no excuse for their sin. |
| 15:23 |
He thatwho hatethhates meMe hatethhates myMy Father also. |
| 15:24 |
If I had not done among them the works which noneno otherone else did, they hadwould not hadhave sin:; but now they have they both seen and hated bothMe me and myMy Father as well. |
| 15:25 |
But they have done this comethin toorder pass, that the word may be fulfilled that is written in their lawLaw, They hated meMe without a cause. |
| 15:26 |
ButWhen when the ComforterHelper is comecomes, whom I will send untoto you from the Father, eventhat is the Spirit of truth, whichwho proceedethproceeds from the Father, heHe shallwill bear witness of me:Me, |
| 15:27 |
and yeyou alsowill bear witness also, because yeyou have been with meMe from the beginning. |
| 16:1 |
These things I have I spoken untoto you, that yeyou shouldmay not be causedkept tofrom stumblestumbling. |
| 16:2 |
They shallwill putmake you outoutcasts offrom the synagogues: yeasynagogue, thebut an hour cometh,is thatcoming whosoeverfor killetheveryone who kills you shallto think that he offerethis offering service untoto God. |
| 16:3 |
And these things they will they do, because they have not known the Father, noror meMe. |
| 16:4 |
But these things I have I spoken untoto you, that when their hour is comecomes, yeyou may remember them, how that I told you of them. And these things I saiddid not untosay to you fromat the beginning, because I was with you. |
| 16:5 |
But now I goam untogoing himto thatHim who sent meMe; and none of you askethasks meMe, WhitherWhere goestare thouYou going? |
| 16:6 |
But because I have spokensaid these things untoto you, sorrow hathhas filled your heart. |
| 16:7 |
NeverthelessBut I tell you the truth:, Itit is expedientto foryour youadvantage that I go away; for if I godo not go away, the ComforterHelper willshall not come untoto you; but if I go, I will send himHim untoto you. |
| 16:8 |
And heHe, when heHe is comecomes, will convict the world inconcerning respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:; |
| 16:9 |
ofconcerning sin, because they believedo not onbelieve mein Me; |
| 16:10 |
ofand concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and yeyou beholdno melonger nobehold moreMe; |
| 16:11 |
ofand concerning judgment, because the princeruler of this world hathhas been judged. |
| 16:12 |
I have yet many more things to say untoto you, but yeyou cannot bear them now. |
| 16:13 |
HowbeitBut when heHe, the Spirit of truth, is comecomes, heHe shallwill guide you into all the truth:; for heHe shallwill not speak fromon himself; His butown whatinitiative, thingsbut soeverwhatever heHe shall hearhears, theseHe shallwill he speak:; and heHe shallwill declaredisclose untoto you thewhat thingsis that are to come. |
| 16:14 |
He shall glorify me:Me; for heHe shall take of mineMine, and shall declaredisclose it untoto you. |
| 16:15 |
All things whatsoeverthat the Father hathhas are mine:Mine; therefore I said I, that heHe takethtakes of mineMine, and shallwill declaredisclose it untoto you. |
| 16:16 |
A little while, and yeyou beholdwill me no morelonger behold Me; and again a little while, and yeyou shallwill see meMe. |
| 16:17 |
Some of hisHis disciples therefore said to one to another, What is this thatthing heHe saithis untotelling us, A little while, and yeyou will not behold me notMe; and again a little while, and yeyou shallwill see me:Me; and, Becausebecause I go to the Father ? |
| 16:18 |
TheyAnd saidso thereforethey were saying, What is this that heHe saithsays, A little while ? We knowdo not know what heHe saithis talking about. |
| 16:19 |
Jesus perceivedknew that they werewished desirous to askquestion himHim, and heHe said untoto them, DoAre yeyou inquiredeliberating amongtogether yourselvesabout concerning this, that I said, A little while, and yeyou will not behold me notMe, and again a little while, and yeyou shallwill see meMe? |
| 16:20 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, that yeyou shallwill weep and lament, but the world shallwill rejoice:; yeyou shallwill be sorrowful, but your sorrow shallwill be turned intoto joy. |
| 16:21 |
AWhenever a woman when she is in travail hathshe has sorrow, because her hour ishas come:; but when she isgives deliveredbirth ofto the child, she rememberethremembers the anguish no more the anguish, for the joy that a manchild ishas been born into the world. |
| 16:22 |
AndTherefore yeyou thereforetoo now have sorrow:; but I will see you again, and your heart shallwill rejoice, and your joy no one takethtakes your joy away from you. |
| 16:23 |
And in that day yeyou shallwill ask meMe no question. VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto you, Ifif yeyou shall ask anythingthe ofFather thefor Fatheranything, heHe will give it to you in myMy name. |
| 16:24 |
HithertoUntil now you have ye asked for nothing in myMy name:; ask, and yeyou shallwill receive, that your joy may be made full. |
| 16:25 |
These things I have I spoken untoto you in darkfigurative sayings:language; thean hour cometh,is coming when I shallwill speak no more speakto unto you in darkfigurative sayingslanguage, but shallwill tell you plainly of the Father. |
| 16:26 |
In that day yeyou shallwill ask in myMy name:, and I saydo not untosay to you, that I will prayrequest the Father foron youyour behalf; |
| 16:27 |
for the Father himselfHimself lovethloves you, because yeyou have loved meMe, and have believed that I came forth from the Father. |
| 16:28 |
I came outforth from the Father, and amhave come into the world:; again, I leaveam leaving the world again, and gogoing untoto the Father. |
| 16:29 |
His disciples saysaid, Lo, now speakestYou thouare speaking plainly, and speakestare nonot darkusing sayinga figure of speech. |
| 16:30 |
Now we know we that thouYou knowestknow all things, and needesthave notno thatneed anyfor mananyone shouldto askquestion thee:You; by this we believe that thouYou camestcame forth from God. |
| 16:31 |
Jesus answered them, Do yeyou now believe? |
| 16:32 |
Behold, thean hour cometh,is yeacoming, isand has already come, thatfor yeyou shallto be scattered, everyeach man to his own home, and shallto leave meMe alone:; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with meMe. |
| 16:33 |
These things I have I spoken untoto you, that in meMe yeyou may have peace. In the world yeyou have tribulation:, but betake of good cheercourage; I have overcome the world. |
| 17:1 |
These things spakeJesus Jesusspoke; and lifting up hisHis eyes to heaven, heHe said, Father, the hour ishas come; glorify thyThy Son, that the Son may glorify thee:Thee, |
| 17:2 |
even as thouThou gavest himHim authority over all fleshmankind, that to all whom thouThou hast given himHim, heHe shouldmay give eternal life. |
| 17:3 |
And this is eternal life eternal, that they shouldmay know theeThee, the only true God, and himJesus Christ whom thouThou didsthast send, even Jesus Christsent. |
| 17:4 |
I glorified theeThee on the earth, having accomplished the work which thouThou hast given meMe to do. |
| 17:5 |
And now, Father, glorify thouThou meMe together with thineThyself, ownFather, self with the glory which I had with theeThee before the world was. |
| 17:6 |
I manifested thyThy name untoto the men whom thouThou gavest meMe out of the world:; thineThine they were, and thouThou gavest them to me;Me, and they have kept thyThy word. |
| 17:7 |
Now they have come to know that alleverything thingsThou whatsoever thou hast given meMe areis from thee:Thee; |
| 17:8 |
for the words which thouThou gavest meMe I have given untoto them; and they received them, and knewtruly ofunderstood a truth that I came forth from theeThee, and they believed that thouThou didst send meMe. |
| 17:9 |
I prayask foron them:their behalf; I praydo not forask on behalf of the world, but forof those whom thouThou hast given meMe; for they are thine:Thine; |
| 17:10 |
and all things that are mineMine are thineThine, and thineThine are mine:Mine; and I amhave been glorified in them. |
| 17:11 |
And I am no more in the world,; and theseyet they themselves are in the world, and I come to theeThee. Holy Father, keep them in thyThy name, the name which thouThou hast given meMe, that they may be one, even as weWe are. |
| 17:12 |
While I was with them, I keptwas keeping them in thyThy name which thouThou hast given me:Me; and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, but the son of perdition;, that the scriptureScripture might be fulfilled. |
| 17:13 |
But now I come to theeThee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have myMy joy made full in themselves. |
| 17:14 |
I have given them thyThy word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. |
| 17:15 |
I praydo not thatask thouThee shouldestto take them fromout of the world, but thatto thou shouldest keep them from the evil one. |
| 17:17 |
Sanctify them in the truth:; thyThy word is truth. |
| 17:18 |
As thouThou didst send meMe into the world, evenI soalso have sent I them into the world. |
| 17:19 |
And for their sakes I sanctify myselfMyself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth. |
| 17:20 |
NeitherI fordo thesenot onlyask doin Ibehalf prayof these alone, but for themthose also thatwho believe onin meMe through their word; |
| 17:21 |
that they may all be one; even as thouThou, Father, art in meMe, and I in theeThee, that they also may be in us:Us; that the world may believe that thouThou didst send meMe. |
| 17:22 |
And the glory which thouThou hast given meMe I have given untoto them; that they may be one, evenjust as weWe are one; |
| 17:23 |
I in them, and thouThou in meMe, that they may be perfected intoin one;unity, that the world may know that thouThou didst send meMe, and lovedstdidst love them, even as thouThou lovedstdidst melove Me. |
| 17:24 |
Father, I desire that they also, whom thouThou hast given meMe, be with meMe where I am, in order that they may behold myMy glory, which thouThou hast given me:Me; for thouThou lovedstdidst melove Me before the foundation of the world. |
| 17:25 |
O righteous Father, although the world knewhas theenot notknown Thee, butyet I knewhave theeknown Thee; and these knewhave known that thouThou didst send meMe; |
| 17:26 |
and I have made Thy name known untoto them thy name, and will make it known; that the love wherewith thouThou lovedstdidst melove Me may be in them, and I in them. |
| 18:1 |
When Jesus had spoken these words, heHe went forth with hisHis disciples over the brookravine of the Kidron, where there was a garden, into which heHe Himself entered, himself and hisHis disciples. |
| 18:2 |
Now Judas also, who betrayedwas himbetraying Him, knew the place:; for Jesus ofthad timesoften resortedmet thitherthere with hisHis disciples. |
| 18:3 |
Judas then, having received the bandRoman of soldierscohort, and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, comethcame thitherthere with lanterns and torches and weapons. |
| 18:4 |
Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon himHim, went forth, and saithsaid untoto them, Whom do you seek ye? |
| 18:5 |
They answered himHim, Jesus ofthe NazarethNazarene. JesusHe saithsaid untoto them, I am heHe. And Judas also, who betrayedwas himbetraying Him, was standing with them. |
| 18:6 |
When therefore heHe said untoto them, I am heHe, they wentdrew backwardback, and fell to the ground. |
| 18:7 |
Again therefore heHe asked them, Whom do you seek ye? And they said, Jesus ofthe NazarethNazarene. |
| 18:8 |
Jesus answered, I told you that I am heHe; if therefore yeyou seek meMe, let these go their way:, |
| 18:9 |
that the word might be fulfilled which heHe spakespoke, Of those whom thouThou hast given meMe I lost not one. |
| 18:10 |
Simon Peter therefore having a sword, drew it, and struck the high priests servantslave, and cut off his right ear.; Nowand the servantsslaves name was Malchus. |
| 18:11 |
Jesus therefore said untoto Peter, Put up the sword into the sheath:; the cup which the Father hathhas given meMe, shall I not drink it? |
| 18:12 |
So the bandRoman cohort and the chief captaincommander, and the officers of the Jews, seizedarrested Jesus and bound himHim, |
| 18:13 |
and led himHim to Annas first; for he was father in law toof Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. |
| 18:14 |
Now Caiaphas was hethe thatone gavewho counselhad toadvised the Jews, that it was expedient thatfor one man shouldto die foron behalf of the people. |
| 18:15 |
And Simon Peter followedwas following Jesus, and so didwas another disciple. Now that disciple was known untoto the high priest, and entered in with Jesus into the court of the high priest;, |
| 18:16 |
but Peter was standing at the door withoutoutside. So the other disciple, who was known untoto the high priest, went out and spakespoke untoto her that kept the doordoorkeeper, and brought in Peter. |
| 18:17 |
The maidslave girl therefore thatwho kept the door saithsaid untoto Peter, ArtYou thouare not also one of this mans disciples, are you? He saithsaid, I am not. |
| 18:18 |
Now the servantsslaves and the officers were standing there, having made a charcoal fire, of coals; for it was cold; and they were warming themselves:; and Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself. |
| 18:19 |
The high priest therefore askedquestioned Jesus ofabout hisHis disciples, and ofabout hisHis teaching. |
| 18:20 |
Jesus answered him, I have spoken openly to the world; I everalways taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jews come together; and inI secretspoke spakenothing Iin nothingsecret. |
| 18:21 |
Why askestdo thouyou mequestion Me? askQuestion themthose thatwho have heard me, what I spakespoke untoto them:; behold, these know thewhat things which I said. |
| 18:22 |
And when heHe had said this, one of the officers standing by struckgave Jesus witha his handblow, saying, AnswerestIs thouthat the way You answer the high priest so? |
| 18:23 |
Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evilwrongly, bear witness of the evil:wrong; but if wellrightly, why smitestdo thouyou mestrike Me? |
| 18:24 |
Annas therefore sent himHim bound untoto Caiaphas the high priest. |
| 18:25 |
Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore untoto him, ArtYou thouare not also one of hisHis disciples, are you? He denied it, and said, I am not. |
| 18:26 |
One of the servantsslaves of the high priest, being a kinsmanrelative of himthe one whose ear Peter cut off, saithsaid, Did I not I see theeyou in the garden with himHim? |
| 18:27 |
Peter therefore denied it again:; and straightwayimmediately thea cock crewcrowed. |
| 18:28 |
They leadled Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the Praetorium:, and it was early; and they themselves entereddid not enter into the Praetorium, in order that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passoverPassover. |
| 18:29 |
Pilate therefore went out untoto them, and saithsaid, What accusation do you bring ye against this manMan? |
| 18:30 |
They answered and said untoto him, If this manMan were not an evil doerevildoer, we shouldwould not have delivered himHim up untoto theeyou. |
| 18:31 |
Pilate therefore said untoto them, Take himHim yourselves, and judge himHim according to your law. The Jews said untoto him, ItWe isare not lawfulpermitted for us to put anyanyone man to death:, |
| 18:32 |
that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which heHe spakespoke, signifying by what mannerkind of death heHe shouldwas about to die. |
| 18:33 |
Pilate therefore entered again into the Praetorium, and calledsummoned Jesus, and said untoto himHim, ArtAre thouYou the King of the Jews? |
| 18:34 |
Jesus answered, SayestAre thouyou saying this ofon thyselfyour own initiative, or did others tell ityou theeabout concerning meMe? |
| 18:35 |
Pilate answered, Am I am not a Jew, am I? ThineYour own nation and the chief priests delivered theeYou untoup to me:; what hasthave thouYou done? |
| 18:36 |
Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world:. ifIf myMy kingdom were of this world, then My servants would mybe servants fightfighting, that I shouldmight not be delivered up to the Jews:; but nowas it is, myMy kingdom is not fromof hencethis realm. |
| 18:37 |
Pilate therefore said untoto himHim, ArtSo thouYou are a king then? Jesus answered, ThouYou sayestsay correctly that I am a king. ToFor this endI have I been born, and tofor this endI amhave I come into the world, thatto I should bear witness untoto the truth. EveryEveryone onewho that is of the truth hearethhears myMy voice. |
| 18:38 |
Pilate saithsaid untoto himHim, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again untoto the Jews, and saithsaid untoto them, I find no crimeguilt in himHim. |
| 18:39 |
But yeyou have a custom, that I should release untosomeone for you one at the passover:Passover; willdo yeyou thereforewish then that I release untofor you the King of the Jews? |
| 18:40 |
TheyTherefore they cried out therefore again, saying, Not this manMan, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber. |
| 19:1 |
Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged himHim. |
| 19:2 |
And the soldiers plattedwove a crown of thorns, and put it on hisHis head, and arrayed himHim in a purple garmentrobe; |
| 19:3 |
and they camebegan untoto himcome up to Him, and saidsay, Hail, King of the Jews! and theyto struckgive himHim withblows theirin handsthe face. |
| 19:4 |
And Pilate wentcame out again, and saithsaid untoto them, Behold, I bringam himbringing Him out to you, that yeyou may know that I find no crimeguilt in himHim. |
| 19:5 |
Jesus therefore came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple garmentrobe. And Pilate saithsaid untoto them, Behold, the manMan! |
| 19:6 |
When therefore the chief priests and the officers saw himHim, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him! Pilate saithsaid untoto them, Take himHim yourselves, and crucify him:Him, for I find no crimeguilt in himHim. |
| 19:7 |
The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by that law heHe ought to die, because heHe made himselfHimself out to be the Son of God. |
| 19:8 |
When Pilate therefore heard this sayingstatement, he was the more afraid; |
| 19:9 |
and he entered into the Praetorium again, and saithsaid untoto Jesus, WhenceWhere artare thouYou from? But Jesus gave him no answer. |
| 19:10 |
Pilate therefore saithsaid untoto himHim, SpeakestYou thoudo not untospeak to me? knowestDo thouYou not know that I have powerauthority to release theeYou, and I have powerauthority to crucify theeYou? |
| 19:11 |
Jesus answered him, ThouYou wouldestwould have no powerauthority againstover meMe, exceptunless it werehad been given theeyou from above:; thereforefor this reason he thatwho delivered meMe untoup theeto hathyou has the greater sin. |
| 19:12 |
UponAs a result of this Pilate soughtmade efforts to release him:Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, If thouyou release this manMan, thouyou artare notno Caesars friend: everyof oneCaesar; thateveryone makethwho makes himself out to be a king speakethopposes against Caesar. |
| 19:14 |
Now it was the Preparationday of preparation for the passover:Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he saithsaid untoto the Jews, Behold, your King! |
| 19:15 |
They therefore cried out, Away with himHim, away with himHim, crucify himHim! Pilate saithsaid untoto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. |
| 19:16 |
ThenSo therefore he then delivered himHim untoto them to be crucified. |
| 19:17 |
They took Jesus therefore:, and heHe went out, bearing theHis own cross for himself, untoto the place called Thethe placePlace of a skullSkull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha:. |
| 19:18 |
whereThere they crucified himHim, and with himHim two othersother men, one on either side one, and Jesus in the midstbetween. |
| 19:19 |
And Pilate wrote aan titleinscription also, and put it on the cross. And thereit was written, JesusJESUS ofTHE NazarethNAZARENE, theTHE KingKING ofOF theTHE JewsJEWS. |
| 19:20 |
ThisTherefore titlethis thereforeinscription read many of the Jews read, for the place where Jesus was crucified was nighnear to the city; and it was written in Hebrew, and in Latin, and in Greek. |
| 19:21 |
TheAnd so the chief priests of the Jews thereforewere saidsaying to Pilate, WriteDo not write, The King of the Jews; but, that heHe said, I am King of the Jews. |
| 19:23 |
The soldiers therefore, when they had crucified Jesus, took hisHis outer garments and made four parts, a part to every soldier a part; and also the coat:tunic; now the coattunic was without seamseamless, woven fromin theone top throughoutpiece. |
| 19:24 |
They said therefore to one to another, Let us not rendtear it, but cast lots for it, to decide whose it shall be:; that the scriptureScripture might be fulfilled, whichThey saith, divided TheyMy partedouter my garments among them, Andand uponfor myMy vestureclothing did they cast lots. |
| 19:25 |
TheseTherefore things therefore the soldiers did these things. But there were standing by the cross of Jesus hisHis mother, and hisHis mothers sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. |
| 19:26 |
When Jesus therefore saw hisHis mother, and the disciple standingwhom byHe whomloved hestanding lovednearby, heHe saithsaid untoto hisHis mother, Woman, behold, thyyour son! |
| 19:27 |
Then saithHe hesaid to the disciple, Behold, thyyour mother! And from that hour the disciple took her untointo his own homehousehold. |
| 19:28 |
After this, Jesus, knowing that all things arehad nowalready finishedbeen accomplished, in order that the scriptureScripture might be accomplishedfulfilled, saithsaid, I thirstam thirsty. |
| 19:29 |
ThereA wasjar setfull thereof asour vesselwine fullwas ofstanding vinegar:there; so they put a sponge full of the vinegarsour wine upon a branch of hyssop, and brought it up to hisHis mouth. |
| 19:30 |
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegarsour wine, heHe said, It is finished:! andAnd heHe bowed hisHis head, and gave up hisHis spirit. |
| 19:31 |
The Jews therefore, because it was the Preparationday of preparation, so that the bodies should not remain on the cross uponon the sabbathSabbath for the day of that sabbathSabbath was a high day, asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. |
| 19:32 |
The soldiers therefore came, and brakebroke the legs of the first man, and of the other thatman who was crucified with him:Him; |
| 19:33 |
but whencoming they came to Jesus, andwhen they saw that heHe was already dead already, they brakedid not hisbreak His legs:; |
| 19:34 |
howbeitbut one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear pierced his side, and straightwayimmediately there came out blood and water. |
| 19:35 |
And he thatwho hathhas seen hathhas borne witness, and his witness is true:; and he knowethknows that he saithis truetelling the truth, so that yeyou also may believe. |
| 19:36 |
For these things came to pass, that the scriptureScripture might be fulfilled, ANot a bone of himHim shall not be broken. |
| 19:37 |
And again another scriptureScripture saithsays, They shall look on himHim whom they pierced. |
| 19:38 |
And after these things Joseph of ArimathaeaArimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretlya secret one, for fear of the Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus:; and Pilate gavegranted him leavepermission. He came therefore, and took away hisHis body. |
| 19:39 |
And thereNicodemus came also Nicodemus, he who athad the first camecome to himHim by night,; bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds weight. |
| 19:40 |
SoAnd so they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in linen clothswrappings with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews is to bury. |
| 19:41 |
Now in the place where heHe was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new tomb, whereinin waswhich neverno manone had yet been laid. |
| 19:42 |
ThereTherefore thenon becauseaccount of the JewsJewish Preparationday forof preparation, because the tomb was nighnearby, at hand they laid Jesus there. |
| 20:1 |
Now on the first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was yetstill dark, unto the tomb, and seethsaw the stone already taken away from the tomb. |
| 20:2 |
SheAnd runnethso therefore, she ran and comethcame to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saithsaid untoto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we knowdo not know where they have laid himHim. |
| 20:3 |
Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and they wentwere towardgoing to the tomb. |
| 20:4 |
And theythe rantwo bothwere running together:; and the other disciple outranran ahead faster than Peter, and came first to the tomb first; |
| 20:5 |
and stooping and looking in, he seethsaw the linen clothswrappings lying there; yetbut entered he did not go in. |
| 20:6 |
Simon Peter therefore also comethcame, following him, and entered into the tomb; and he beholdethbeheld the linen clothswrappings lying there, |
| 20:7 |
and the napkinface cloth, thatwhich washad uponbeen hison His head, not lying with the linen clothswrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself. |
| 20:8 |
ThenSo entered in therefore the other disciple also, who camehad first come to the tomb entered then also, and he saw, and believed. |
| 20:9 |
For as yet they knewdid not understand the scriptureScripture, that heHe must rise again from the dead. |
| 20:10 |
So the disciples went away again untoto their own homehomes. |
| 20:11 |
But Mary was standing withoutoutside at the tomb weeping:; and so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb; |
| 20:12 |
and she beholdethbeheld two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lainbeen lying. |
| 20:13 |
And they saysaid untoto her, Woman, why weepestare thouyou weeping? She saithsaid untoto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I knowdo not know where they have laid himHim. |
| 20:14 |
When she had thussaid saidthis, she turned herself backaround, and beholdethbeheld Jesus standing there, and knewdid not know that it was Jesus. |
| 20:15 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto her, Woman, why weepestare thouyou weeping? whomWhom seekestare thouyou seeking? She,Supposing supposingHim him to be the gardener, saithshe untosaid himto Him, Sir, if thouyou hasthave bornecarried himHim henceaway, tell me where thouyou hasthave laid himHim, and I will take himHim away. |
| 20:16 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto her, Mary.! She turnethturned herself, and saithsaid untoto himHim in Hebrew, Rabboni;! which is to saymeans, Teacher. |
| 20:17 |
Jesus saithsaid to her, TouchStop meclinging not;to Me, for I amhave not yet ascended untoto the Father:; but go untoto myMy brethren, and say to them, I ascend untoto myMy Father and your Father, and myMy God and your God. |
| 20:18 |
Mary Magdalene comethcame, andannouncing tellethto the disciples, I have seen the Lord;, and that heHe had said these things untoto her. |
| 20:19 |
When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in thetheir midst, and saithsaid untoto them, Peace be untowith you. |
| 20:20 |
And when heHe had said this, heHe showed unto them hisboth His hands and hisHis side. The disciples therefore wererejoiced glad, when they saw the Lord. |
| 20:21 |
Jesus therefore said to them again, Peace be untowith you:; as the Father hathhas sent meMe, evenI soalso send I you. |
| 20:22 |
And when heHe had said this, heHe breathed on them, and saithsaid untoto them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit:. |
| 20:23 |
whoseIf soeveryou forgive the sins yeof forgiveany, theytheir aresins have been forgiven unto them; whoseif soeveryou retain the sins yeof retainany, they arehave been retained. |
| 20:25 |
The other disciples therefore saidwere untosaying to him, We have seen the Lord.! But he said untoto them, ExceptUnless I shall see in hisHis hands the printimprint of the nails, and put my finger into the printplace of the nails, and put my hand into hisHis side, I will not believe. |
| 20:26 |
And after eight days again hisHis disciples were withininside, and Thomas with them. Jesus comethcame, the doors beinghaving been shut, and stood in thetheir midst, and said, Peace be untowith you. |
| 20:27 |
Then saithHe hesaid to Thomas, Reach hitherhere thyyour finger, and see myMy hands; and reach hitherhere thyyour hand, and put it into myMy side:; and be not faithlessunbelieving, but believing. |
| 20:28 |
Thomas answered and said untoto himHim, My Lord and my God.! |
| 20:29 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto him, Because thouyou hasthave seen meMe, thouhave hastyou believed:? blessedBlessed are they thatwho havedid not seensee, and yet have believed. |
| 20:30 |
Many other signs therefore did Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book:; |
| 20:31 |
but these arehave been written, that yeyou may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing yeyou may have life in hisHis name. |
| 21:1 |
After these things Jesus manifested himselfHimself again to the disciples at the seaSea of Tiberias;, and heHe manifested himselfHimself onin this wiseway. |
| 21:2 |
There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two otherothers of hisHis disciples. |
| 21:3 |
Simon Peter saithsaid untoto them, I goam agoing fishing. They saysaid untoto him, We will also come with theeyou. They went forthout, and enteredgot into the boat; and that night they tookcaught nothing. |
| 21:4 |
But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach:; yet the disciples knewdid not know that it was Jesus. |
| 21:5 |
Jesus therefore saithsaid untoto them, Children, you do not have yeany aughtfish, todo eatyou? They answered himHim, No. |
| 21:6 |
And heHe said untoto them, Cast the net on the right hand side of the boat, and yeyou shallwill find a catch. They cast therefore, and nowthen they were not able to drawhaul it forin because of the multitudegreat number of fishesfish. |
| 21:7 |
That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved saithsaid untoto Peter, It is the Lord. SoAnd so when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girtput his coatouter aboutgarment himon for he was nakedstripped for work, and castthrew himself into the sea. |
| 21:8 |
But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about twoone hundred cubitsyards offaway, dragging the net full of fishesfish. |
| 21:9 |
SoAnd so when they got out upon the land, they seesaw a charcoal fire ofalready coals therelaid, and fish laidplaced thereonon it, and bread. |
| 21:10 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto them, Bring some of the fish which yeyou have now takencaught. |
| 21:11 |
Simon Peter therefore went up, and drew the net to land, full of greatlarge fishesfish, a hundred and fifty and three:; and foralthough all there were so many, the net was not renttorn. |
| 21:12 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto them, Come and breakhave your fastbreakfast. AndNone none of the disciples durstventured inquireto ofquestion himHim, Who artare thouYou? knowing that it was the Lord. |
| 21:13 |
Jesus cometh, came and takethtook the bread, and givethgave them, and the fish likewise. |
| 21:14 |
This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after thatHe he was risenraised from the dead. |
| 21:15 |
So when they had brokenfinished their fastbreakfast, Jesus saithsaid to Simon Peter, Simon, son of John, lovestdo thouyou melove Me more than these? He saithsaid untoto himHim, YeaYes, Lord; thouYou knowestknow that I love theeYou. He saithsaid untoto him, FeedTend myMy lambs. |
| 21:16 |
He saithsaid to him again a second time, Simon, son of John, lovestdo thouyou melove Me? He saithsaid untoto himHim, YeaYes, Lord; thouYou knowestknow that I love theeYou. He saithsaid untoto him, TendShepherd myMy sheep. |
| 21:17 |
He saithsaid untoto him the third time, Simon, son of John, lovestdo thouyou melove Me? Peter was grieved because heHe said untoto him the third time, LovestDo thouyou melove Me? And he said untoto himHim, Lord, thouYou knowestknow all things; thouYou knowestknow that I love theeYou. Jesus saithsaid untoto him, FeedTend myMy sheep. |
| 21:18 |
VerilyTruly, verilytruly, I say untoto theeyou, Whenwhen thouyou wastwere youngyounger, thouyou girdedstused thyselfto gird yourself, and walkedstwalk whitherwherever thouyou wouldest:wished; but when thouyou shaltgrow be old, thouyou shaltwill stretch forthout thyyour hands, and anothersomeone shallelse will gird theeyou, and carrybring theeyou whitherwhere thouyou wouldestdo not wish to go. |
| 21:19 |
Now this heHe spakesaid, signifying by what mannerkind of death he shouldwould glorify God. And when heHe had spoken this, heHe saithsaid untoto him, Follow me.Me! |
| 21:20 |
Peter, turning aboutaround, seethsaw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; the one who also had leaned back on hisHis breast at the supper, and said, Lord, who is hethe thatone betrayethwho theebetrays You? |
| 21:21 |
Peter therefore seeing him saithsaid to Jesus, Lord, and what shallabout this man do? |
| 21:22 |
Jesus saithsaid untoto him, If I willwant thathim heto tarryremain tilluntil I come, what is that to theeyou? You follow thou me.Me! |
| 21:23 |
This saying therefore went forthout among the brethren, that that disciple shouldwould not die:; yet Jesus saiddid not untosay to him, that he shouldwould not die;, but only, If I willwant thathim heto tarryremain tilluntil I come, what is that to theeyou? |
| 21:24 |
This is the disciple thatwho bearethbears witness of these things, and wrote these things:; and we know that his witness is true. |
| 21:25 |
And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which if they shouldwere be written everyin onedetail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books thatwhich shouldwere be written. |
