| 1:1 |
AndNow Solomon the son of David wasestablished strengthenedhimself insecurely over his kingdom, and Jehovahthe Lord his God was with him, and magnifiedexalted him exceedinglygreatly. |
| 1:2 |
And Solomon spakespoke untoto all Israel, to the captainscommanders of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every princeleader in all Israel, the heads of the fathers houseshouseholds. |
| 1:3 |
SoThen Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place thatwhich was at Gibeon; for thereGods was the tent of meeting ofwas Godthere, which Moses the servant of Jehovahthe Lord had made in the wilderness. |
| 1:4 |
ButHowever, David had brought up the ark of God had David brought up from Kiriath jearim to the place thathe David had prepared for it; for he had pitched a tent for it atin Jerusalem. |
| 1:5 |
MoreoverNow the brazenbronze altar, thatwhich Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of Jehovah:the Lord, and Solomon and the assembly sought untoit itout. |
| 1:6 |
And Solomon went up thitherthere before the Lord to the brazenbronze altar before Jehovah, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings uponon it. |
| 1:7 |
In that night did God appearappeared untoto Solomon, and said untoto him, Ask what I shall give theeyou. |
| 1:8 |
And Solomon said untoto God, Thou hast showeddealt greatwith lovingkindnessmy untofather David mywith fathergreat lovingkindness, and hast made me king in his steadplace. |
| 1:9 |
Now, O JehovahLord God, letThy thy promise untoto David my father beDavid establishedis fulfilled; for thouThou hast made me king over a people likeas numerous as the dust of the earth in multitude. |
| 1:10 |
Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judgerule this thygreat people, thatof is so greatThine? |
| 1:11 |
And God said to Solomon, Because you had this was in thy heartmind, and thoudid hast not askedask for riches, wealth, or honor, noror the life of themthose thatwho hate theeyou, neithernor yethave hastyou even asked for long life;, but hastyou have asked for yourself wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thouyou mayestmay judgerule myMy people, over whom I have made theeyou king:, |
| 1:12 |
wisdom and knowledge ishave been granted untoto thee;you. andAnd I will give theeyou riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings havewho hadwere thatbefore haveyou beenhas beforepossessed, thee;nor neitherthose shallwho therewill anycome after thee have the likeyou. |
| 1:13 |
So Solomon camewent from the high place thatwhich was at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting, untoto Jerusalem;, and he reigned over Israel. |
| 1:14 |
And Solomon gatheredamassed chariots and horsemen:. andHe he had a1,400 thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve12,000 thousand horsemen, thatand he placedstationed them in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem. |
| 1:15 |
And the king made silver and gold toas beplentiful in Jerusalem as stones, and cedarshe made hecedars toas beplentiful as thesycamores sycomore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance. |
| 1:16 |
And theSolomons horses whichwere Solomonimported hadfrom wereEgypt broughtand outfrom of EgyptKue; the kings merchantstraders receivedprocured them infrom droves,Kue eachfor drove at a price. |
| 1:17 |
And they fetchedimported upchariots andfrom brought out of Egypt a chariot for six600 hundred shekels of silver apiece, and ahorses horse for a150 hundredapiece, and fifty:by andthe sosame formeans they exported them to all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their meansAram. |
| 2:1 |
Now Solomon purposeddecided to build a house for the name of Jehovahthe Lord, and a houseroyal palace for his kingdomhimself. |
| 2:2 |
AndSo Solomon countedassigned out70,000 threescore and ten thousand men to bearcarry burdensloads, and fourscore80,000 thousand men thatto werequarry hewersstone in the mountains, and three3,600 thousand and six hundred to overseesupervise them. |
| 2:3 |
AndThen Solomon sent word to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thouyou didstdealt deal with David my father, and didstsent send him cedars to build him a house to dwell thereinin, even so dealdo withfor me. |
| 2:4 |
Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of Jehovahthe Lord my God, todedicating dedicate it to himHim, and to burn beforefragrant him incense ofbefore sweet spicesHim, and forto set out the continualshowbread showbreadcontinually, and forto theoffer burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the setappointed feasts of Jehovahthe Lord our God., Thisthis isbeing anrequired ordinanceforever forin ever to Israel. |
| 2:5 |
And the house which I am about to build iswill be great; for greatgreater is our God abovethan all the gods. |
| 2:6 |
But who is able to build him a house for Him, seeingfor heaventhe heavens and the heavenhighest of heavens cannot contain himHim? So who am I then, that I should build him a house for Him, saveexcept only to burn incense before himHim? |
| 2:7 |
NowAnd thereforenow send me a skilled man skilful to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blueviolet fabrics, and thatwho knowethknows how to gravemake all manner of gravingsengravings, to bework with the skilfulskilled men thatwhom areI withhave me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provideprovided. |
| 2:8 |
Send me also cedar trees, fircypress trees, and algum trees, timber outfrom of Lebanon;, for I know that thyyour servants know how to cut timber inof Lebanon.; And,and beholdindeed, my servants shallwill bework with thyyour servants, |
| 2:9 |
even to prepare me timber in abundance; for me, for the house which I am about to build shallwill be great and wonderful. |
| 2:10 |
And,Now behold, I will give to thyyour servants, the hewerswoodsmen thatwho cut the timber, twenty20,000 thousandkors measures of beatencrushed wheat, and twenty20,000 thousandkors measures of barley, and twenty20,000 thousand baths of wine, and twenty20,000 thousand baths of oil. |
| 2:11 |
Then Huram, the king of Tyre, answered in writing,a whichletter he sent to Solomon,: Because Jehovahthe lovethLord hisloves His people, heHe hathhas made theeyou king over them. |
| 2:12 |
Then Huram said moreovercontinued, Blessed be Jehovahthe Lord, the God of Israel, thatwho has made heaven and earth, who hathhas given toKing David the king a wise son, enduedendowed with discretion and understanding, thatwho shouldwill build a house for Jehovah, the Lord and a houseroyal palace for his kingdomhimself. |
| 2:13 |
And now I haveam sentsending a skilfulskilled man, enduedendowed with understanding, of Huram my fathersabi, |
| 2:14 |
the son of a Danite woman ofand thea daughtersTyrian of Dan; and his father, waswho aknows manhow of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brassbronze, in iron, in stone, and in timberwood, and in purple, in blueviolet, linen and incrimson fine linenfabrics, and inwho crimson, knows alsohow to gravemake anyall mannerkinds of graving, engravings and to deviseexecute any device;design thatwhich there may be aassigned placeto appointedhim, untoto himwork with thyyour skilfulskilled men, and with thethose skilful men of my Lord David thyyour father. |
| 2:15 |
Now thereforethen, thelet my Lord send to his servants wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, of which myhe Lordhas hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:. |
| 2:16 |
andAnd we will cut woodwhatever outtimber ofyou need from Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need; and we will bring it to theeyou inon floatsrafts by sea to Joppa;, andso thouthat shaltyou may carry it up to Jerusalem. |
| 2:17 |
And Solomon numbered all the sojournersaliens thatwho were in the land of Israel, afterfollowing the numberingcensus wherewithwhich David his father David had numbered themtaken; and they153,600 were found a hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred. |
| 2:18 |
And he setappointed threescore70,000 and ten thousand of them to bearcarry burdensloads, and fourscore80,000 thousandto thatquarry werestones hewers in the mountains, and three3,600 thousandsupervisors and six hundred overseers to setmake the people at work. |
| 3:1 |
Then Solomon began to build the house of Jehovahthe atLord in Jerusalem on mountMount Moriah, where Jehovahthe Lord had appeared untoto David his father David, whichat he made ready in the place that David had appointedprepared, inon the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. |
| 3:2 |
And he began to build inon the second day ofin the second month, inof the fourth year of his reign. |
| 3:3 |
Now these are the foundations which Solomon laid for the building of the house of God. The length byin cubits, afteraccording to the firstold measurestandard was threescoresixty cubits, and the breadthwidth twenty cubits. |
| 3:4 |
And the porch thatwhich was beforein thefront house,of the lengthhouse ofwas it,as accordinglong toas the breadthwidth of the house, was twenty cubits, and the height a120; hundred and twenty;inside and he overlaid it within with pure gold. |
| 3:5 |
And thehe greateroverlaid housethe hemain ceiledroom with fircypress wood, whichand he overlaid it with fine gold, and wroughtornamented thereonit with palm trees and chains. |
| 3:6 |
AndFurther, he garnishedadorned the house with precious stones; for beauty: and the gold was gold offrom Parvaim. |
| 3:7 |
He also overlaid also the house, with gold the beams, the thresholds, and theits walls thereof, and theits doors thereof, with gold; and gravedhe carved cherubim on the walls. |
| 3:8 |
AndNow he made the mostroom of the holy houseof holies: theits length thereof, accordingacross to the breadthwidth of the house, was twenty cubits, and theits breadthwidth thereofwas twenty cubits; and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six600 hundred talents. |
| 3:9 |
And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. AndHe healso overlaid the upper chambersrooms with gold. |
| 3:10 |
AndThen inhe themade mosttwo holysculptured housecherubim hein madethe tworoom cherubimof the holy of imageholies work; and they overlaid them with gold. |
| 3:11 |
And the wingswingspan of the cherubim werewas twenty cubits; long: the wing of the one, cherubof was five cubits, reachingtouched to the wall of the house;, and theits other wing, wasof likewise five cubits, reachingtouched to the wing of the other cherub. |
| 3:12 |
And the wing of the other cherub, wasof five cubits, reachingtouched to the wall of the house; and theits other wing wasof five cubits also, joiningwas attached to the wing of the otherfirst cherub. |
| 3:13 |
The wings of these cherubim spreadextended themselves forth twenty cubits:, and they stood on their feet, andfacing theirthe facesmain were toward the houseroom. |
| 3:14 |
And he made the veil of blueviolet, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wroughthe worked cherubim thereonon it. |
| 3:15 |
AlsoHe healso made beforetwo thepillars housefor twothe pillarsfront of the house, thirty and five cubits high, and the capital that was on the top of each of them was five cubits. |
| 3:16 |
And he made chains in the oracleinner sanctuary, and putplaced them on the tops of the pillars; and he made aone hundred pomegranates, and putplaced them on the chains. |
| 3:17 |
And he seterected up the pillars beforein front of the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left;, and callednamed the nameone of that on the right hand Jachin, and the nameone of that on the left Boaz. |
| 4:1 |
MoreoverThen he made ana bronze altar of brass, twenty cubits thein length thereof, and twenty cubits thein breadthwidth thereof, and ten cubits thein height thereof. |
| 4:2 |
Also he made the moltencast metal sea, of ten cubits from brim to brim, roundcircular in compass;form, and theits height thereof was five cubits; and aits linecircumference of thirty cubits compassed it round about. |
| 4:3 |
AndNow underfigures itlike wasoxen thewere likenessunder ofit oxen, and whichall didaround compass it round about, for ten cubits, compassingentirely encircling the sea round about. The oxen were in two rows, cast whenin itone was castpiece. |
| 4:4 |
It stood uponon twelve oxen, three lookingfacing toward the north, and three lookingfacing toward the west, and three lookingfacing toward the south, and three lookingfacing toward the east:; and the sea was set uponon top of them above, and all their hinderhindquarters partsturned were inwardinwards. |
| 4:5 |
And it was a handbreadth thick;, and theits brim thereof was wroughtmade like the brim of a cup, like the flower of a lily: blossom; it receivedcould andhold held3,000 three thousand baths. |
| 4:6 |
He also made also ten laversbasins in which to wash, and puthe set five on the right hand, side and five on the left, to washrinse in them; such things asfor belonged to the burnt offering they washed in them; but the sea was for the priests to wash in. |
| 4:7 |
AndThen he made the ten candlesticksgolden oflampstands goldin accordingthe toway theprescribed ordinancefor concerning them;, and he set them in the temple, five on the right hand, side and five on the left. |
| 4:8 |
He also made also ten tables, and placed them in the temple, five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made aone hundred basinsgolden of goldbowls. |
| 4:9 |
FurthermoreThen he made the court of the priests, and the great court, and doors for the court, and overlaid thetheir doors of them with brassbronze. |
| 4:10 |
And he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward, toward the southsoutheast. |
| 4:11 |
And Huram also made the potspails, and the shovels, and the basinsbowls. So Huram madefinished an end of doing the work thatwhich he wroughtperformed for kingKing Solomon in the house of God: |
| 4:12 |
the two pillars, and the bowls, and the two capitals which were on the top of the pillars, and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals thatwhich were on the top of the pillars, |
| 4:13 |
and the four hundred pomegranates for the two networks;, two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowls of the capitals thatwhich were uponon the pillars. |
| 4:14 |
He also made also the bases, stands and thehe lavers made hethe uponbasins on the bases;stands, |
| 4:15 |
and the one sea, andwith the twelve oxen under it. |
| 4:16 |
TheAnd potsthe alsopails, and the shovels, and the flesh hooksforks, and all theits vessels thereofutensils, did Huram hisabi fathermade makeof polished bronze for kingKing Solomon, for the house of Jehovah, the of bright brassLord. |
| 4:17 |
InOn the plain of the Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredah. |
| 4:18 |
Thus Solomon made all these vesselsutensils in great abundance:quantities, for the weight of the brassbronze could not be found out. |
| 4:19 |
And Solomon also made all the vesselsthings that were in the house of God,: even the golden altar also, and the tables whereonwith wasthe bread of the showbread;Presence on them, |
| 4:20 |
and the candlestickslampstands with their lamps of pure gold, to burn accordingin tofront of the ordinanceinner beforesanctuary in the oracle, way of pure goldprescribed; |
| 4:21 |
and the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, of gold, andof thatpurest perfect gold; |
| 4:22 |
and the snuffers, and the basinsbowls, and the spoons, and the firepans, of pure gold.; Andand as for the entryentrance of the house, theits inner doors thereof for the most holy placeof holies, and the doors of the house, tothat witis, of the templenave, were of gold. |
| 5:1 |
Thus all the work that Solomon wroughtperformed for the house of Jehovahthe Lord was finished. And Solomon brought in the things that David his father had dedicated, even the silver, and the gold, and all the vesselsutensils, and put them in the treasuries of the house of God. |
| 5:2 |
Then Solomon assembled to Jerusalem the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the princesleaders of the fathers houseshouseholds of the childrensons of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Jehovahthe Lord out of the city of David, which is Zion. |
| 5:3 |
And all the men of Israel assembled themselves untoto the king at the feast, whichthat wasis in the seventh month. |
| 5:4 |
AndThen all the elders of Israel came:, and the Levites took up the ark;. |
| 5:5 |
andAnd they brought up the ark, and the tent of meeting, and all the holy vesselsutensils thatwhich were in the Tenttent; thesethe didLevitical the priests thebrought Levitesthem bring up. |
| 5:6 |
And kingKing Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, thatwho were assembled untowith him, were before the ark, were sacrificing so many sheep and oxen, that they could not be counted noror numbered for multitude. |
| 5:7 |
AndThen the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Jehovahthe untoLord to its place, into the oracleinner sanctuary of the house, to the most holy placeof holies, even under the wings of the cherubim. |
| 5:8 |
For the cherubim spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, andso that the cherubim coveredmade a covering over the ark and theits staves thereof abovepoles. |
| 5:9 |
And the stavespoles were so long that the ends of the stavespoles wereof the ark could be seen fromin thefront arkof before the oracle;inner sanctuary, but they werecould not be seen without:outside; and therethey itare isthere untoto this day. |
| 5:10 |
There was nothing in the ark saveexcept the two tablestablets which Moses put there at Horeb, whenwhere Jehovahthe Lord made a covenant with the childrensons of Israel, when they came out of Egypt. |
| 5:11 |
And it came to pass, when the priests werecame comeforth outfrom of the holy place for all the priests thatwho were present had sanctified themselves, andwithout didregard notto keep their courses;divisions, |
| 5:12 |
alsoand all the LevitesLevitical who were the singers, all of them, even Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun, and their sons and their brethrenkinsmen, arrayedclothed in fine linen, with cymbals, andharps, psalteries and harpslyres, stoodstanding at the east end of the altar, and with them aone hundred and twenty priests soundingblowing with trumpets; |
| 5:13 |
itin cameunison to pass, when the trumpeters and the singers were as one, to make themselves heard with one soundvoice to bepraise heardand into praisingglorify andthe thankingLord, Jehovah; and when they lifted up their voice withaccompanied theby trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and when they praised Jehovah, the Lord saying,He Forindeed he is good; for hisHis lovingkindness endurethis foreverlasting, ever;then thatthe thenhouse, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, even the house of Jehovah, |
| 5:14 |
so that the priests could not stand to minister bybecause reason of the cloud:, for the glory of Jehovahthe Lord filled the house of God. |
| 6:1 |
Then spakeSolomon Solomonsaid, JehovahThe hathLord has said that heHe would dwell in the thick darknesscloud. |
| 6:2 |
But I have built theeThee a lofty house of habitation, andAnd a place for theeThy todwelling dwell in for everforever. |
| 6:3 |
AndThen the king turnedfaced hisabout face, and blessed all the assembly of Israel:, andwhile all the assembly of Israel stoodwas standing. |
| 6:4 |
And he said, Blessed be Jehovahthe Lord, the God of Israel, who spakespoke with hisHis mouth untoto David my father, David and hathhas fulfilled it with hisHis hands fulfilled it, saying, |
| 6:5 |
Since the day that I brought forthMy my people outfrom of the land of Egypt, I chosedid nonot choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house in, that myMy name might be there;, neithernor chosedid I choose any man tofor bea princeleader over myMy people Israel:; |
| 6:6 |
but I have chosen Jerusalem, that myMy name might be there, and I have chosen David to be over myMy people Israel. |
| 6:7 |
Now it was in the heart of David my father David to build a house for the name of Jehovahthe Lord, the God of Israel. |
| 6:8 |
But Jehovahthe Lord said untoto David my father David, WhereasBecause it was in thyyour heart to build a house for myMy name, thouyou didstdid well that it was in thyyour heart:. |
| 6:9 |
neverthelessNevertheless thouyou shaltshall not build the house;, but thyyour son thatwho shall comebe forthborn outto of thy loinsyou, he shall build the house for myMy name. |
| 6:10 |
AndNow Jehovahthe hathLord performedhas hisfulfilled His word thatwhich heHe spakespoke; for I amhave risen up in the roomplace of David my father, David and sit on the throne of Israel, as Jehovahthe Lord promised, and have built the house for the name of Jehovahthe Lord, the God of Israel. |
| 6:11 |
And there I have I set the ark, whereinin which is the covenant of Jehovahthe Lord, which heHe made with the childrensons of Israel. |
| 6:12 |
AndThen he stood before the altar of Jehovahthe Lord in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forthout his hands. |
| 6:13 |
forNow Solomon had made a brazenbronze scaffoldplatform, five cubits long, and five cubits broadwide, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court; and upon it he stood, andon kneeledit, downknelt uponon his knees beforein the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread forthout his hands toward heaven;. |
| 6:14 |
andAnd he said, O JehovahLord, the God of Israel, there is no Godgod like thee,Thee in heaven, or on earth;, whokeeping keepest covenant and showing lovingkindness withto thyThy servants, thatwho walk before theeThee with all their heart; |
| 6:15 |
who hasthas kept with thyThy servant David, my father, that which thouThou didsthast promisepromised him:; yeaindeed, thouThou spakesthast spoken with thyThy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thyThy hand, as it is this day. |
| 6:16 |
Now therefore, O JehovahLord, the God of Israel, keep with thyThy servant David, my father, that which thouThou hast promised him, saying, ThereYou shall not faillack thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only thyyour childrensons take heed to their way, to walk in myMy law as thouyou hasthave walked before meMe. |
| 6:17 |
Now therefore, O JehovahLord, the God of Israel, let thyThy word be verified, confirmed which thouThou spakesthast untospoken thyto Thy servant David. |
| 6:18 |
But will God inindeed very deed dwell with menmankind on the earth? beholdBehold, heaven and the highest heaven of heavens cannot contain theeThee; how much less this house which I have builded!built. |
| 6:19 |
Yet have thouregard respectto unto the prayer of thyThy servant, and to his supplication, O JehovahLord my God, to hearkenlisten untoto the cry and to the prayer which thyThy servant prayethprays before theeThee; |
| 6:20 |
that thineThine eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place whereofof thouwhich Thou hast said that thouThou wouldestwouldst put thyThy name there;, to hearkenlisten untoto the prayer which thyThy servant shall pray toward this place. |
| 6:21 |
And hearkenlisten thou to the supplications of thyThy servant, and of thyThy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place:; yea, hear thouThou from thyThy dwelling place, even from heaven; andhear whenThou thouand hearest, forgive. |
| 6:22 |
If a man sinsins against his neighbor, and anis oathmade be laid upon him to causetake himan to swearoath, and he comecomes and sweartakes an oath before thineThine altar in this house;, |
| 6:23 |
then hear thouThou from heaven, and do,act and judge thyThy servants, requitingpunishing the wicked, toby bringbringing his way uponon his own head; and justifying the righteous, toby givegiving him according to his righteousness. |
| 6:24 |
And if thyThy people Israel beare smittendefeated down before thean enemy, because they have sinned against theeThee, and shallthey turnreturn againto Thee and confess thyThy name, and pray and make supplication before theeThee in this house;, |
| 6:25 |
then hear thouThou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thyThy people Israel, and bring them againback untoto the land which thouThou gavesthast given to them and to their fathers. |
| 6:26 |
When the heavens are shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee;Thee, ifand they pray toward this place, and confess thyThy name, and turn from their sin, when thouThou dost afflict them:; |
| 6:27 |
then hear thouThou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thyThy servants, and ofThy thy people Israel, whenindeed, thouteach teachest them the good way whereinin which they should walk;. andAnd send rain uponon thyThy land, which thouThou hast given to thyThy people for an inheritance. |
| 6:28 |
If there beis famine in the land famine, if there beis pestilence, if there beis blastingblight or mildew, if there is locust or caterpillar;grasshopper, if their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities;, whatsoeverwhatever plague or whatsoeverwhatever sickness there be;is, |
| 6:29 |
whatwhatever prayer andor supplication soeveris be made by any man, or by all thyThy people Israel, whoeach shallknowing know every man his own plagueaffliction and his own sorrowpain, and shallspreading spread forth his hands toward this house:, |
| 6:30 |
then hear thouThou from heaven thyThy dwelling place, and forgive, and render untoto everyeach man according to all his ways, whose heart thouThou knowest for thou,Thou evenalone thoudost only, know knowest the hearts of the childrensons of men;, |
| 6:31 |
that they may fear theeThee, to walk in thyThy ways, soas long as they live in the land which thouThou gavesthast untogiven to our fathers. |
| 6:32 |
MoreoverAlso concerning the foreigner, thatwho is not offrom thyThy people Israel, when he shallcomes come from a far country for thyThy great names sake, and thyThy mighty hand, and thineThine outstretched arm;, when they shall come and pray toward this house:, |
| 6:33 |
then hear thouThou from heaven, even from thyThy dwelling place, and do according to all thatfor which the foreigner callethcalls to theeThee, for;in order that all the peoples of the earth may know thyThy name, and fear theeThee, as dothdo thyThy people Israel, and that they may know that this house which I have built is called by thyThy name. |
| 6:34 |
IfWhen thyThy people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatsoeverwhatever way thouThou shalt send them, and they pray untoto theeThee toward this city which thouThou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thyThy name;, |
| 6:35 |
then hear thouThou from heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause. |
| 6:36 |
IfWhen they sin against theeThee for there is no man thatwho sinnethdoes not, sin and thouThou beart angry with them, and dost deliver them to thean enemy, so that they carrytake them away captive untoto a land far off or near;, |
| 6:37 |
yet if they shalltake bethinkthought themselves in the land whitherwhere they are carriedtaken captive, and turnrepent again, and make supplication untoto theeThee in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have donecommitted perverselyiniquity, and have dealtacted wickedly; |
| 6:38 |
if they return untoto theeThee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, whitherwhere they have carriedbeen themtaken captive, and pray toward their land, which thouThou gavesthast untogiven to their fathers, and the city which thouThou hast chosen, and toward the house which I have built for thyThy name:, |
| 6:39 |
then hear thou from heaven, even from thyThy dwelling place, their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive thyThy people who have sinned against theeThee. |
| 6:40 |
Now, O my God, let, I beseechpray theeThee, thinelet Thine eyes be open, and letThine thine ears beattentive attent,to unto the prayer thatoffered is made in this place. |
| 6:41 |
Now therefore arise, O JehovahLord God, intoto thyThy resting place, thou,Thou and the ark of thyThy strength:might; let thyThy priests, O JehovahLord God, be clothed with salvation, and let thyThy saintsgodly ones rejoice in goodnesswhat is good. |
| 6:42 |
O JehovahLord God, turndo not turn away the face of thineThine anointed:; remember thyThy lovingkindnesseslovingkindness to DavidThy thyservant servantDavid. |
| 7:1 |
Now when Solomon had madefinished an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of Jehovahthe Lord filled the house. |
| 7:2 |
And the priests could not enter into the house of Jehovahthe Lord, because the glory of Jehovahthe Lord filled Jehovahsthe Lords house. |
| 7:3 |
And all the childrensons of Israel looked on, whenseeing the fire camecome down, and the glory of Jehovahthe wasLord upon the house;, andbowed theydown bowedon themselvesthe pavement with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, they worshiped and gave thankspraise untoto Jehovahthe Lord, saying, ForTruly heHe is good;, fortruly hisHis lovingkindness endurethis for evereverlasting. |
| 7:4 |
Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 7:5 |
And kingKing Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty22,000 and two thousand oxen, and a120,000 hundred and twenty thousand sheep. SoThus the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. |
| 7:6 |
And the priests stood, accordingat to their offices;posts and the Levites, also with the instruments of music ofto Jehovahthe Lord, which King David the king had made tofor givegiving thankspraise untoto Jehovahthe Lord for hisHis lovingkindness endurethis foreverlasting ever, whenever whenhe Davidgave praisedpraise by their ministry:means, andwhile the priests soundedon trumpetsthe beforeother themside blew trumpets; and all Israel stoodwas standing. |
| 7:7 |
MoreoverThen Solomon hallowedconsecrated the middle of the court that was before the house of Jehovah;the Lord, for there he offered the burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brazenbronze altar which Solomon had made was not able to receivecontain the burnt offering, and the mealgrain offering, and the fat. |
| 7:8 |
So Solomon heldobserved the feast at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, who came from the entrance of Hamath untoto the brook of Egypt. |
| 7:9 |
And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly:, for they kept the dedication of the altar they observed seven days, and the feast seven days. |
| 7:10 |
AndThen on the threetwenty andthird twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people awayto unto their tents, joyfulrejoicing and gladhappy of heart forbecause of the goodness that Jehovahthe Lord had showedshown untoto David, and to Solomon, and to IsraelHis hispeople peopleIsrael. |
| 7:11 |
Thus Solomon finished the house of Jehovah, the Lord and the kings house:palace, and successfully completed all that camehe intohad Solomonsplanned hearton todoing make in the house of Jehovah, the Lord and in his own house, he prosperously effectedpalace. |
| 7:12 |
AndThen Jehovahthe Lord appeared to Solomon byat night, and said untoto him, I have heard thyyour prayer, and have chosen this place tofor myselfMyself foras a house of sacrifice. |
| 7:13 |
If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among myMy people;, |
| 7:14 |
ifand myMy people, who are called by myMy name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek myMy face, and turn from their wicked ways;, then I will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. |
| 7:15 |
Now mineMy eyes shall be open, and mineMy ears attent, attentive untoto the prayer thatoffered is made in this place. |
| 7:16 |
For now I have I chosen and hallowedconsecrated this house, that myMy name may be there forforever, ever; and mineMy eyes and myMy heart shallwill be there perpetually. |
| 7:17 |
And as for theeyou, if thouyou wilt walk before meMe as Davidyour thy father David walked, andeven to do according to all that I have commanded thee, you and wiltwill keep myMy statutes and mineMy ordinances;, |
| 7:18 |
then I will establish theyour royal throne of thy kingdom, according as I covenanted with Davidyour thyfather fatherDavid, saying, ThereYou shall not faillack thee a man to be ruler in Israel. |
| 7:19 |
But if yeyou turn away, and forsake myMy statutes and myMy commandments which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;, |
| 7:20 |
then will I pluckwill themuproot upyou byfrom theMy roots out of my land which I have given them;you, and this house, which I have hallowedconsecrated for myMy name, I will I cast out of myMy sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples. |
| 7:21 |
AndAs for this house, which iswas so highexalted, everyeveryone onewho thatpasses passeth by it shallwill be astonished, and shall say, Why hathhas Jehovahthe Lord done thus untoto this land, and to this house? |
| 7:22 |
And they shallwill answersay, Because they forsook Jehovahthe Lord, the God of their fathers, who brought them forthfrom out of the land of Egypt, and laidthey holdadopted on other gods, and worshippedworshiped them, and served them:, therefore hathHe hehas brought all this eviladversity uponon them. |
| 8:1 |
AndNow it came toabout pass at the end of the twenty years, whereinin which Solomon had built the house of Jehovah, the Lord and his own house, |
| 8:2 |
that he built the cities which Huram had given to Solomonhim, Solomon built them, and causedsettled the childrensons of Israel to dwell there. |
| 8:3 |
AndThen Solomon went to Hamath zobah, and prevailedcaptured against it. |
| 8:4 |
And he built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the storestorage cities, which he had built in Hamath. |
| 8:5 |
AlsoHe healso built upper Beth horon theand upper, lower and Beth horon the nether, fortified cities, with walls, gates, and bars; |
| 8:6 |
and Baalath, and all the storestorage cities that Solomon had, and all the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and all that it pleased Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land ofunder his dominionrule. |
| 8:7 |
AsAll forof all the people thatwho were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, thatwho were not of Israel;, |
| 8:8 |
ofnamely, from their childrendescendants thatwho were left after them in the land, whom the childrensons of Israel consumedhad not destroyed, of them did Solomon raiseraised aas levyforced oflaborers bondservantsto unto this day. |
| 8:9 |
But ofSolomon thedid childrennot ofmake Israelslaves didfor Solomonhis makework nofrom servantsthe forsons hisof workIsrael; but they were men of war, andhis chief of his captains, and rulerscommanders of his chariots and of his horsemen. |
| 8:10 |
And these were the chief officers of kingKing Solomon, even two hundred and fifty, thatwho bareruled rule over the people. |
| 8:11 |
AndThen Solomon brought upPharaohs the daughter ofup Pharaohfrom out of the city of David untoto the house thatwhich he had built for her; for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereuntowhere the ark of Jehovahthe hathLord comehas entered. |
| 8:12 |
Then Solomon offered burnt offerings untoto Jehovahthe Lord on the altar of Jehovah, the Lord which he had built before the porch,; |
| 8:13 |
evenand asdid theso dutyaccording ofto everythe daydaily requiredrule, offering them up according to the commandment of Moses, onfor the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the set feasts, three timesannual infeasts the year,Feast even in the feast of unleavenedUnleavened breadBread, and in the feastFeast of weeksWeeks, and in the feastFeast of tabernaclesBooths. |
| 8:14 |
AndNow he appointed, according to the ordinance of David his father David, he appointed the coursesdivisions of the priests tofor their service, and the Levites tofor their offices, duties toof praise, and toministering minister before the priests, asaccording to the dutydaily ofrule, everyand day required; the doorkeepersgatekeepers also by their coursesdivisions at every gate:; for so had David the man of God had so commanded. |
| 8:15 |
And they departeddid not depart from the commandment of the king untoto the priests and Levites concerningin any matter, manner or concerning the treasuresstorehouses. |
| 8:16 |
NowThus all the work of Solomon was preparedcarried untoout from the day of the foundation of the house of Jehovahthe Lord, and until it was finished. So the house of Jehovahthe Lord was completed. |
| 8:17 |
Then Solomon went Solomon to Ezion geber, and to Eloth, on the seaseashore shore in the land of Edom. |
| 8:18 |
And Huram sent him by thehis handsservants ofsent hishim servants ships, and servants thatwho hadknew knowledge of the sea; and they camewent with theSolomons servants of Solomon to Ophir, and fetchedtook from thencethere four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to kingKing Solomon. |
| 9:1 |
AndNow when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to proveJerusalem to test Solomon with harddifficult questions. atShe Jerusalem, had with a very greatlarge trainretinue, andwith camels thatcarrying bare spices, and golda inlarge abundance, amount of gold and precious stones:; and when she wascame come to Solomon, she communedspoke with him ofabout all that was inon her heart. |
| 9:2 |
And Solomon toldanswered her all her questions; andnothing there was nothidden anything hid from Solomon which he tolddid not explain to her not. |
| 9:3 |
And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house thatwhich he had built, |
| 9:4 |
and the food ofat his table, and the sittingseating of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparelattire, his cupbearers also, and their apparelattire, and his ascentstairway by which he went up untoto the house of Jehovah;the thereLord, she was no more spirit in herbreathless. |
| 9:5 |
AndThen she said to the king, It was a true report thatwhich I heard in minemy own land ofabout thineyour acts, words and ofyour thy wisdom. |
| 9:6 |
HowbeitNevertheless I believeddid not believe their words, reports until I came, and minemy eyes had seen it;. and,And behold, the half of the greatness of thyyour wisdom was not told me:. thouYou exceedestsurpass the famereport that I heard. |
| 9:7 |
HappyHow blessed are thyyour men, andhow happyblessed are these thyyour servants, thatwho stand continually before thee, you continually and hear thyyour wisdom. |
| 9:8 |
Blessed be Jehovahthe thyLord your God, who delighted in theeyou, tosetting setyou thee on hisHis throne, toas be king for Jehovahthe thyLord your God:; because thyyour God loved Israel, toestablishing establish them for everforever, therefore He made heyou thee king over them, to do justice and righteousness. |
| 9:9 |
AndThen she gave the king aone hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spicesa invery great abundance, amount of spices and precious stones:; neitherthere washad therenever anybeen such spice aslike that which the queen of Sheba gave to kingKing Solomon. |
| 9:10 |
And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, thatwho brought gold from Ophir, also brought algum trees and precious stones. |
| 9:11 |
And from the kingalgum made of the algumking treesmade terracessteps for the house of Jehovah, the Lord and for the kings housepalace, and harpslyres and psalteriesharps for the singers:; and therenone werelike nonethat suchwas seen before in the land of Judah. |
| 9:12 |
And kingKing Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoeverwhich she asked, requested besides thata whichreturn for what she had brought untoto the king. SoThen she turned, and went to her own land, shewith and her servants. |
| 9:13 |
Now the weight of gold thatwhich came to Solomon in one year was six666 hundred and threescore and six talents of gold, |
| 9:14 |
besides that which the traders and merchants brought:; and all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon. |
| 9:15 |
And kingKing Solomon made two200 hundredlarge bucklersshields of beaten gold;, sixusing hundred600 shekels of beaten gold wenton toeach onelarge bucklershield. |
| 9:16 |
And he made three300 hundred shields of beaten gold;, using three hundred shekels of gold wenton toeach one shield:, and the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon. |
| 9:17 |
Moreover, the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold. |
| 9:18 |
And there were six steps to the throne, withand a footstool ofin gold, whichattached were fastened to the throne, and staysarms on eithereach side by the place of the seat, and two lions standing beside the staysarms. |
| 9:19 |
And twelve lions stoodwere standing there on the six steps on the one side and on the other; uponnothing thelike sixit steps: there was not the like made infor any other kingdom. |
| 9:20 |
And all kingKing Solomons drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold:; silver was nothingnot accountedconsidered ofvaluable in the days of Solomon. |
| 9:21 |
For the king had ships thatwhich went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram; once every three years came the ships of Tarshish, came bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks. |
| 9:22 |
So kingKing Solomon exceededbecame greater than all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom. |
| 9:23 |
And all the kings of the earth soughtwere seeking the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart. |
| 9:24 |
And they brought every man his tributegift, vesselsarticles of silver, and vessels of gold, and raimentgarments, armorweapons, and spices, horses, and mules, aso ratemuch year by year. |
| 9:25 |
AndNow Solomon had four4,000 thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve12,000 thousand horsemen, thatand he bestowedstationed them in the chariot cities, and with the king atin Jerusalem. |
| 9:26 |
And he ruledwas the ruler over all the kings from the Euphrates River even untoto the land of the Philistines, and toas far as the border of Egypt. |
| 9:27 |
And the king made silver toas becommon as stones in Jerusalem as stones, and cedarshe made hecedars toas beplentiful as thesycamore sycomore trees that are in the lowland, for abundance. |
| 9:28 |
And they broughtwere bringing horses for Solomon outfrom of Egypt, and outfrom of all landscountries. |
| 9:29 |
Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, from first andto last, are they not written in the historyrecords of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat? |
| 9:30 |
And Solomon reigned forty years in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. |
| 9:31 |
And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: David; and Rehoboam his son Rehoboam reigned in his steadplace. |
| 10:1 |
AndThen Rehoboam went to Shechem;, for all Israel werehad come to Shechem to make him king. |
| 10:2 |
And it came toabout pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it for he was in Egypt, whitherwhere he had fled from the presence of kingKing Solomon, that Jeroboam returned outfrom of Egypt. |
| 10:3 |
AndSo they sent and calledsummoned him;. andWhen Jeroboam and all Israel came, and they spakespoke to Rehoboam, saying, |
| 10:4 |
ThyYour father made our yoke grievous:hard; now therefore makelighten thou the grievoushard service of thyyour father, and his heavy yoke which he put uponon us, lighter, and we will serve theeyou. |
| 10:5 |
And he said untoto them, ComeReturn againto unto me afteragain in three days. AndSo the people departed. |
| 10:6 |
AndThen kingKing Rehoboam tookconsulted counsel with the oldelders men,who that had stoodserved before Solomon his father Solomon while he yetwas livedstill alive, saying, WhatHow counseldo giveyou yecounsel me to return answer to this people? |
| 10:7 |
And they spakespoke untoto him, saying, If thouyou will be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thyyour servants for everforever. |
| 10:8 |
But he forsook the counsel of the oldelders men which they had given him, and tookconsulted counsel with the young men thatwho weregrew grown up with him, thatand stoodserved before him. |
| 10:9 |
AndSo he said untoto them, What counsel do you give ye, that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying, MakeLighten the yoke thatwhich thyyour father did put uponon us lighter? |
| 10:10 |
And the young men thatwho weregrew grown up with him spakespoke untoto him, saying, Thus shaltyou thoushall say untoto the people thatwho spakespoke untoto theeyou, saying, ThyYour father made our yoke heavy, but you make thou it lighter untofor us;. thusThus shaltyou thoushall say untoto them, My little finger is thicker than my fathers loins.! |
| 10:11 |
AndWhereas now whereas my father didloaded lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke:; my father chastiseddisciplined you with whips, but I will chastisediscipline you with scorpions. |
| 10:12 |
So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king badehad directed, saying, ComeReturn to me againon the third day. |
| 10:13 |
And the king answered them roughly;harshly, and kingKing Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men, elders. |
| 10:14 |
andAnd spakehe spoke to them afteraccording to the counseladvice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto:to it; my father chastiseddisciplined you with whips, but I will chastisediscipline you with scorpions. |
| 10:15 |
So the king hearkeneddid not untolisten to the people;, for it was broughta aboutturn of events from God, that Jehovahthe Lord might establish hisHis word, which heHe spakespoke bythrough Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat. |
| 10:16 |
And when all Israel saw that the king hearkeneddid not untolisten to them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion havedo we have in David? neitherWe have weno inheritance in the son of Jesse:. everyEvery man to your tents, O Israel:; nowNow seelook toafter thineyour own house, David. So all Israel departed untoto their tents. |
| 10:17 |
But as for the childrensons of Israel thatwho dweltlived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them. |
| 10:18 |
Then kingKing Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the menforced subjectlabor, to taskwork; and the childrensons of Israel stoned him to death with stones. And kingKing Rehoboam made speedhaste to getmount him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem. |
| 10:19 |
So Israel rebelledhas been in rebellion against the house of David untoto this day. |
| 11:1 |
AndNow when Rehoboam washad come to Jerusalem, he assembled the house of Judah and Benjamin, a180,000 hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, thatwho were warriors, to fight against Israel, to bringrestore the kingdom again to Rehoboam. |
| 11:2 |
But the word of Jehovahthe Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying, |
| 11:3 |
Speak untoto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying, |
| 11:4 |
Thus saithsays Jehovahthe Lord, YeYou shall not go up, noror fight against your brethren:relatives; return every man to his house;, for this thing is offrom meMe. So they hearkenedlistened untoto the words of Jehovah, the Lord and returned from going against Jeroboam. |
| 11:5 |
And Rehoboam dweltlived in Jerusalem, and built cities for defencedefense in Judah. |
| 11:6 |
HeThus he built Beth lehemBethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa, |
| 11:7 |
And Beth zur, and Soco, and Adullam, |
| 11:8 |
and Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph, |
| 11:9 |
and Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah, |
| 11:10 |
and Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which are fortified cities in Judah and in Benjamin, fortified cities. |
| 11:11 |
AndHe healso fortifiedstrengthened the strongholds, fortresses and put captainsofficers in them, and stores of victualsfood, and oil and wine. |
| 11:12 |
And in every city he put shields and spears, in every city and madestrengthened them exceeding stronggreatly. AndSo he held Judah and Benjamin belonged to him. |
| 11:13 |
AndMoreover, the priests and the Levites thatwho were in all Israel resortedstood towith him outfrom of all their borderdistricts. |
| 11:14 |
For the Levites left their suburbspasture lands and their possession, property and came to Judah and Jerusalem:, for Jeroboam and his sons casthad excluded them off, from thatserving theyas shouldpriests notto execute the priests office unto Jehovah;Lord. |
| 11:15 |
andAnd he appointedset himup priests of his own for the high places, and for the he goatssatyrs, and for the calves which he had made. |
| 11:16 |
And afterthose them, from out of all the tribes of Israel, suchwho as set their hearts toon seekseeking Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel, camefollowed them to Jerusalem to sacrifice untoto Jehovah, the Lord God of their fathers. |
| 11:17 |
SoAnd they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and madesupported Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong, for three years;, for they walked three years in the way of David and Solomon for three years. |
| 11:18 |
AndThen Rehoboam took himas a wife, Mahalath the daughter of Jerimoth the son of David, and of Abihail the daughter of Eliab the son of Jesse;, |
| 11:19 |
and she barebore him sons: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham. |
| 11:20 |
And after her he took Maacah the daughter of Absalom;, and she barebore him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith. |
| 11:21 |
And Rehoboam loved Maacah the daughter of Absalom abovemore than all his other wives and his concubines. forFor he tookhad taken eighteen wives, and threescoresixty concubines, and begatfathered twenty and eight sons and threescoresixty daughters. |
| 11:22 |
And Rehoboam appointed Abijah the son of Maacah toas behead chief, and evenleader the prince among his brethren;brothers, for he wasintended minded to make him king. |
| 11:23 |
And he dealtacted wisely, and disperseddistributed some of all his sons throughoutthrough all the landsterritories of Judah and Benjamin, untoto everyall the fortified city:cities, and he gave them victualsfood in abundance. And he sought many wives for them many wives. |
| 12:1 |
AndIt ittook cameplace to pass, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he and all Israel with him forsook the law of Jehovah, the and all Israel with himLord. |
| 12:2 |
And it came toabout pass in theKing Rehoboams fifth year, ofbecause kingthey Rehoboamhad been unfaithful to the Lord, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against Jehovah, |
| 12:3 |
with twelve1,200 hundred chariots, and threescore60,000 thousand horsemen. And the people werewho without number that came with him outfrom ofEgypt Egyptwere without number: the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians. |
| 12:4 |
And he tookcaptured the fortified cities whichof pertained to Judah, and came untoas far as Jerusalem. |
| 12:5 |
NowThen Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, thatwho werehad gathered togetherat to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and he said untoto them, Thus saithsays Jehovahthe Lord, YeYou have forsaken meMe, thereforeso have I also lefthave forsaken you into the hand of Shishak. |
| 12:6 |
ThenSo the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, JehovahThe Lord is righteous. |
| 12:7 |
And when Jehovahthe Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of Jehovahthe Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves: so I will not destroy them;, but I will grant them some measure of deliverance, and myMy wrath shall not be poured out uponon Jerusalem by themeans hand of Shishak. |
| 12:8 |
NeverthelessBut they shallwill bebecome his servants, slaves so that they may knowlearn mythe difference between My service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries. |
| 12:9 |
So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of Jehovah, the Lord and the treasures of the kings house:palace. heHe took alleverything; away: he even took awaythe alsogolden the shields of gold which Solomon had made. |
| 12:10 |
AndThen kingKing Rehoboam made inshields theirof steadbronze shieldsin oftheir brassplace, and committed them to the handscare of the captainscommanders of the guard, thatwho keptguarded the door of the kings house. |
| 12:11 |
And it washappened so, that, as oftoften as the king entered into the house of Jehovahthe Lord, the guardguards came and barecarried them, and then brought them back into the guardguards chamberroom. |
| 12:12 |
And when he humbled himself, the wrathanger of Jehovahthe Lord turned away from him, so as not to destroy him altogether:completely; and moreoveralso inconditions Judah there were good thingsin foundJudah. |
| 12:13 |
So kingKing Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned:. forNow Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Jehovahthe Lord had chosen outfrom of all the tribes of Israel, to put hisHis name there:. andAnd his mothers name was Naamah the Ammonitess. |
| 12:14 |
And he did that which was evil, because he setdid not set his heart to seek Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 12:15 |
Now the acts of Rehoboam, from first andto last, are they not written in the historiesrecords of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, afteraccording theto mannergenealogical of genealogiesenrollment? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually. |
| 12:16 |
And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David:; and Abijah his son reignedAbijah became king in his steadplace. |
| 13:1 |
In the eighteenth year of kingKing Jeroboam, began Abijah tobecame reignking over Judah. |
| 13:2 |
ThreeHe years reigned hethree years in Jerusalem:; and his mothers name was Micaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam. |
| 13:3 |
And Abijah joinedbegan the battle with an army of valiant menwarriors, of war400,000 even four hundred thousand chosen men:, andwhile Jeroboam setdrew theup in battle information array against him with eight800,000 hundred thousand chosen men, who were mightyvaliant men of valorwarriors. |
| 13:4 |
AndThen Abijah stood upon uponMount mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, HearListen to me, O Jeroboam and all Israel: |
| 13:5 |
OughtDo yeyou not to know that Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel, gave the kingdomrule over Israel forever to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt? |
| 13:6 |
Yet Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon the son of David, rose up, and rebelled against his Lord.master, |
| 13:7 |
Andand thereworthless weremen gathered untoabout him, worthless menscoundrels, basewho fellows, proved thattoo strengthenedstrong themselvesfor against Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, when Rehoboamhe was young and tendertimid hearted, and could not withstandhold his own against them. |
| 13:8 |
AndSo now yeyou thinkintend to withstandresist the kingdom of Jehovah in the handLord ofthrough the sons of David;, andbeing ye are a great multitude, and therehaving are with you the golden calves which Jeroboam made youfor gods for godsyou. |
| 13:9 |
Have yeyou not driven out the priests of Jehovahthe Lord, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and made youfor yourselves priests afterlike the manner of the peoples of other lands? soWhoever thatcomes whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullockbull and seven rams, theeven samehe may bebecome a priest of themwhat that are no gods. |
| 13:10 |
But as for us, Jehovahthe Lord is our God, and we have not forsaken himHim; and wethe havesons priestsof Aaron are ministering untoto Jehovah, the sonsLord ofas Aaronpriests, and the Levites inattend to their work:. |
| 13:11 |
andAnd theyevery burnmorning untoand Jehovahevening everythey morningburn andto everythe eveningLord burnt offerings and sweetfragrant incense:, and the showbread alsois set theyon in order upon the pureclean table;, and the candlestickgolden oflampstand gold with theits lamps thereof,is ready to burnlight every evening:; for we keep the charge of Jehovahthe Lord our God;, but yeyou have forsaken himHim. |
| 13:12 |
And,Now behold, God is with us at our head, and hisHis priests with the signal trumpets of alarm to sound anthe alarm against you. O childrensons of Israel, fightdo ye not fight against Jehovah, the Lord God of your fathers;, for yeyou shallwill not prospersucceed. |
| 13:13 |
But Jeroboam causedhad set an ambushmentambush to come aboutfrom behindthe them:rear, so theythat wereIsrael beforewas in front of Judah, and the ambushmentambush was behind them. |
| 13:14 |
AndWhen when Judah lookedturned backaround, behold, thethey battlewere wasattacked beforeboth front and behind themrear; andso they cried untoto Jehovahthe Lord, and the priests soundedblew with the trumpets. |
| 13:15 |
Then the men of Judah gaveraised a shout:war cry, and aswhen the men of Judah shoutedraised the war cry, then it camewas to pass, that God smoterouted Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. |
| 13:16 |
And when the childrensons of Israel fled before Judah;, and God deliveredgave them into their hand. |
| 13:17 |
And Abijah and his people slewdefeated them with a great slaughter:, so therethat fell500,000 downchosen slainmen of Israel fivefell hundred thousand chosen menslain. |
| 13:18 |
Thus the childrensons of Israel were broughtsubdued under at that time, and the childrensons of Judah prevailed, conquered because they reliedtrusted uponin Jehovahthe Lord, the God of their fathers. |
| 13:19 |
And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and tookcaptured cities from him several cities, BethBethel el with theits towns thereofvillages, and Jeshanah with theits towns thereofvillages, and Ephron with theits towns thereofvillages. |
| 13:20 |
NeitherAnd Jeroboam did Jeroboamnot again recover strength again in the days of Abijah:; and Jehovahthe smoteLord struck him, and he died. |
| 13:21 |
But Abijah waxedbecame mightypowerful, and took unto himself fourteen wives, to himself; and begatbecame twentythe andfather twoof twentytwo sons, and sixteen daughters. |
| 13:22 |
AndNow the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his sayings, words are written in the commentarytreatise of the prophet Iddo. |
| 14:1 |
So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David;, and Asa his son reignedAsa became king in his steadplace. InThe his days the land was quietundisturbed for ten years during his days. |
| 14:2 |
And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyessight of Jehovahthe Lord his God:, |
| 14:3 |
for he tookremoved away the foreign altars, and the high places, andtore brake down the sacred pillars, andcut hewed down the Asherim, |
| 14:4 |
and commanded Judah to seek Jehovah, the Lord God of their fathers, and to doobserve the law and the commandment. |
| 14:5 |
AlsoHe healso tookremoved awaythe outhigh ofplaces alland the citiesincense ofaltars Judahfrom all the highcities placesof andJudah. theAnd sun images: and the kingdom was quietundisturbed beforeunder him. |
| 14:6 |
And he built fortified cities in Judah;, forsince the land was quietundisturbed, and hethere hadwas no one at war inwith him during those years, because Jehovahthe Lord had given him rest. |
| 14:7 |
For he said untoto Judah, Let us build these cities, and makesurround about them with walls, and towers, gates, and bars;. theThe land is yetstill before usours, because we have sought Jehovahthe Lord our God; we have sought himHim, and heHe hathhas given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered. |
| 14:8 |
AndNow Asa had an army thatof bare300,000 bucklersfrom and spearsJudah, outbearing oflarge Judahshields threeand hundredspears, thousand; and out280,000 offrom Benjamin, thatbearing bare shields and drewwielding bows,; twoall hundredof andthem fourscore thousand: all these were mightyvaliant men of valorwarriors. |
| 14:9 |
AndNow thereZerah the Ethiopian came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an army of a thousandmillion thousand, men and three300 hundred chariots;, and he came untoto Mareshah. |
| 14:10 |
ThenSo Asa went out to meet him, and they setdrew theup in battle information array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah. |
| 14:11 |
AndThen Asa criedcalled untoto Jehovahthe Lord his God, and said, JehovahLord, there is noneno one besides theeThee to help, in the battle between the mightypowerful and himthose thatwho hathhave no strength:; so help us, O JehovahLord our God;, for we relytrust onin theeThee, and in thyThy name arehave we come against this multitude. O JehovahLord, thouThou art our God; let not man prevail against theeThee. |
| 14:12 |
So Jehovahthe smoteLord routed the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah;, and the Ethiopians fled. |
| 14:13 |
And Asa and the people thatwho were with him pursued them untoas far as Gerar:; and thereso fellmany of the Ethiopians sofell many that they could not recover, themselves; for they were destroyedshattered before Jehovahthe Lord, and before hisHis host;army. andAnd they carried away very much bootyplunder. |
| 14:14 |
And they smotedestroyed all the cities roundaround about Gerar;, for the feardread of Jehovahthe cameLord uponhad fallen on them:; and they despoiled all the cities;, for there was much spoilplunder in them. |
| 14:15 |
They smote also thestruck tentsdown ofthose cattlewho owned livestock, and they carried away sheeplarge innumbers abundance,of sheep and camels,. andThen they returned to Jerusalem. |
| 15:1 |
AndNow the Spirit of God came uponon Azariah the son of Oded:, |
| 15:2 |
and he went out to meet Asa, and said untoto him, HearListen yeto me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: Jehovahthe Lord is with you, whilewhen yeyou are with him;Him. andAnd if yeyou seek himHim, heHe will belet foundyou offind youHim; but if yeyou forsake himHim, heHe will forsake you. |
| 15:3 |
NowAnd for amany longdays season Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law:. |
| 15:4 |
butBut when in their distress they turned untoto Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel, and they sought himHim, heand wasHe foundlet ofthem themfind Him. |
| 15:5 |
And in those times there was no peace to him thatwho went out, noror to him thatwho came in;, butfor greatmany vexationsdisturbances wereafflicted upon all the inhabitants of the lands. |
| 15:6 |
And theynation werewas brokencrushed inby pieces, nation against nation, and city againstby city;, for God didtroubled vex them with allevery adversitykind of distress. |
| 15:7 |
But you, be ye strong, and letdo not yourlose handscourage, befor slack;there is reward for your work shall be rewarded. |
| 15:8 |
AndNow when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy which Azariah the son of Oded the prophet spoke, he took courage, and putremoved away the abominationsabominable outidols offrom all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and outfrom of the cities which he had takencaptured fromin the hill country of Ephraim;. andHe hethen renewedrestored the altar of Jehovah, the thatLord which was beforein front of the porch of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 15:9 |
And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and themthose thatfrom sojourned with them out of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and outSimeon ofwho Simeon:resided with them, for theymany felldefected to him outfrom of Israel in abundance, when they saw that Jehovahthe Lord his God was with him. |
| 15:10 |
So they gatheredassembled themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, inof the fifteenth year of theAsas reign of Asa. |
| 15:11 |
And they sacrificed untoto Jehovahthe inLord that day 700 oxen and 7,000 ofsheep from the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep. |
| 15:12 |
And they entered into the covenant to seek Jehovah, the Lord God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul; |
| 15:13 |
and thatwhoever whosoever would not seek Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman. |
| 15:14 |
AndMoreover, they swaremade untoan Jehovahoath to the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornetshorns. |
| 15:15 |
And all Judah rejoiced atconcerning the oath;, for they had sworn with all their whole heart, and had sought himHim withearnestly, theirand wholeHe desire;let andthem hefind wasHim. foundSo ofthe them:Lord and Jehovah gave them rest roundon aboutevery side. |
| 15:16 |
And he also removed Maacah, the mother of King Asa the king, hefrom removedthe fromposition beingof queen mother, because she had made ana abominablehorrid image foras an Asherah;, and Asa cut down her horrid image, andcrushed made dust of it, and burntburned it at the brook Kidron. |
| 15:17 |
But the high places were not takenremoved awayfrom out of Israel:; nevertheless theAsas heart of Asa was perfectblameless all his days. |
| 15:18 |
And he brought into the house of God the dedicated things thatof his father had dedicated, and thathis heown himselfdedicated hadthings: dedicated, silver, and gold, and vesselsutensils. |
| 15:19 |
And there was no more war untountil the fivethirty andfifth thirtieth year of theAsas reign of Asa. |
| 16:1 |
In the sixthirty andsixth thirtieth year of theAsas reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel wentcame up against Judah, and builtfortified Ramah, thatin heorder mightto notprevent sufferanyone anyfrom onegoing to go out or comecoming in to Asa king of Judah. |
| 16:2 |
Then Asa brought out silver and gold outfrom of the treasurestreasuries of the house of Jehovahthe Lord and of the kings house, and sent them to Ben hadad king of SyriaAram, thatwho dweltlived atin Damascus, saying, |
| 16:3 |
ThereLet isthere be a leaguetreaty between meyou and theeme, as there was between my father and thyyour father:. beholdBehold, I have sent theeyou silver and gold; go, break thyyour leaguetreaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he maywill departwithdraw from me. |
| 16:4 |
AndSo Ben hadad hearkenedlistened untoto kingKing Asa, and sent the captainscommanders of his armies against the cities of Israel;, and they smoteconquered Ijon, and Dan, and Abel maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali. |
| 16:5 |
And it came toabout pass, when Baasha heard thereof,of it that he leftceased offfortifying building Ramah, and letstopped his work cease. |
| 16:6 |
Then King Asa thebrought king took all Judah;, and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and theits timber thereof, with wherewithwhich Baasha had builded;been building, and with them he builtfortified therewith Geba and Mizpah. |
| 16:7 |
AndAt at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said untoto him, Because thouyou hasthave relied on the king of Syria,Aram and hasthave not relied on Jehovahthe thyLord your God, therefore is the hostarmy of the king of SyriaAram has escaped out of thyyour hand. |
| 16:8 |
Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim aan hugeimmense host, army with very many chariots and horsemen exceeding many? yetYet, because thouyou didstrelied rely on Jehovahthe Lord, heHe delivered them into thyyour hand. |
| 16:9 |
For the eyes of Jehovahthe runLord move to and fro throughout the whole earth, tothat showHe himselfmay strongstrongly insupport thethose behalf of them whose heart is perfectcompletely toward himHis. HereinYou thouhave hastacted done foolishly; forin this. Indeed, from henceforthnow thouon shaltyou will surely have wars. |
| 16:10 |
Then Asa was wrothangry with the seer, and put him in the prison, house; for he was inenraged aat rage with him becausefor of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time. |
| 16:11 |
And, beholdnow, the acts of Asa, from first andto last, lobehold, they are written in the bookBook of the kingsKings of Judah and Israel. |
| 16:12 |
And in the thirty and ninth year of his reign Asa wasbecame diseased in his feet;. hisHis disease was exceedingsevere, great: yet even in his disease he soughtdid not toseek Jehovahthe Lord, but to the physicians. |
| 16:13 |
AndSo Asa slept with his fathers, andhaving died in the oneforty andfirst fortieth year of his reign. |
| 16:14 |
And they buried him in his own sepulchres, tomb which he had hewncut out for himself in the city of David, and they laid him in the bedresting place which washe had filled with sweetspices odorsof andvarious divers kinds ofblended spices prepared by the perfumers art:; and they made a very great burningfire for him. |
| 17:1 |
And Jehoshaphat his son reignedthen became king in his steadplace, and strengthenedmade himselfhis againstposition over Israel firm. |
| 17:2 |
AndHe he placed forcestroops in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had takencaptured. |
| 17:3 |
And Jehovahthe Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walkedfollowed in the firstexample ways of his father David,Davids earlier days and soughtdid not untoseek the BaalimBaals, |
| 17:4 |
but sought to the God of his father, andfollowed walkedHis in his commandments, and did not afteract theas doingsIsrael of Israeldid. |
| 17:5 |
ThereforeSo Jehovahthe Lord established the kingdom in his hand;control, and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, tribute; and he had great riches and honor in abundance. |
| 17:6 |
And hishe hearttook wasgreat liftedpride up in the ways of Jehovah:the Lord and furthermoreagain heremoved took away the high places and the Asherim outfrom of Judah. |
| 17:7 |
AlsoThen in the third year of his reign he sent his princesofficials, even Ben hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethanel, and Micaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah; |
| 17:8 |
and with them the Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob adonijahTobadonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests. |
| 17:9 |
And they taught in Judah, having the book of the law of Jehovahthe Lord with them; and they went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people. |
| 17:10 |
AndNow the feardread of Jehovahthe fellLord uponwas on all the kingdoms of the lands thatwhich were roundaround about Judah, so that they madedid nonot make war against Jehoshaphat. |
| 17:11 |
And some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphatgifts presents, and silver foras tribute to Jehoshaphat; the Arabians also brought him flocks, seven7,700 thousandrams and seven hundred rams7,700 andmale seven thousand and seven hundred he goats. |
| 17:12 |
AndSo Jehoshaphat waxedgrew greatgreater exceedingly;and greater, and he built infortresses Judahand castlesstore and cities ofin storeJudah. |
| 17:13 |
And he had manylarge workssupplies in the cities of Judah;, and men of warwarriors, mightyvaliant men of valor, in Jerusalem. |
| 17:14 |
And this was thetheir numberingmuster of them according to their fathers houseshouseholds: Ofof Judah, thecommanders captains of thousands:, Adnah was the captaincommander, and with him mighty300,000 menvaliant of valor three hundred thousandwarriors; |
| 17:15 |
and next to him Jehohananwas Johanan the captaincommander, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand280,000; |
| 17:16 |
and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willinglyvolunteered offeredfor himselfthe untoLord, Jehovah; and with him two200,000 hundredvaliant thousand mighty men of valor.warriors; |
| 17:17 |
Andand of Benjamin:, Eliada a mightyvaliant man of valorwarrior, and with him two200,000 hundred thousand armed with bow and shield; |
| 17:18 |
and next to him Jehozabad, and with him a180,000 hundredequipped and fourscore thousand ready prepared for war. |
| 17:19 |
These wereare they thatwho waitedserved on the king, besidesapart from those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughoutthrough all Judah. |
| 18:1 |
Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor in abundance; and he joinedallied affinityhimself by marriage with Ahab. |
| 18:2 |
And aftersome certain years later he went down to visit Ahab toat Samaria. And Ahab killedslaughtered many sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people thatwho were with him, and movedinduced him to go up withagainst him to Ramoth gilead. |
| 18:3 |
And Ahab king of Israel said untoto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, WiltWill thouyou go with me toagainst Ramoth gileadRamothgilead? And he answeredsaid to him, I am as thouyou artare, and my people as thyyour people;, and we will be with theeyou in the warbattle. |
| 18:4 |
AndMoreover, Jehoshaphat said untoto the king of Israel, InquirePlease inquire first, I pray thee, for the word of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 18:5 |
Then the king of Israel gatheredassembled the prophets together, four hundred men, and said untoto them, Shall we go toagainst Ramoth gilead to battle, or shall I forbearrefrain? And they said, Go up;, for God will delivergive it into the hand of the king. |
| 18:6 |
But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not hereyet a prophet of Jehovahthe besides,Lord here that we may inquire of him? |
| 18:7 |
And the king of Israel said untoto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah:the Lord, but I hate him;, for he never prophesiethprophesies good concerning me, but always evil:. theHe same is Micaiah, the son of Imla. AndBut Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so. |
| 18:8 |
Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, FetchBring quickly Micaiah, theImlas son of Imla. |
| 18:9 |
Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah satwere sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting inat anthe openthreshing placefloor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them. |
| 18:10 |
And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made him horns of iron for himself and said, Thus saithsays Jehovahthe Lord, With these shaltyou thoushall pushgore the SyriansArameans, until they beare consumed. |
| 18:11 |
And all the prophets prophesiedwere soprophesying thus, saying, Go up to Ramoth gilead, and prosper;succeed, for Jehovahthe Lord will delivergive it into the hand of the king. |
| 18:12 |
AndThen the messenger thatwho went to callsummon Micaiah spakespoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declareare gooduniformly favorable to the king. withSo oneplease mouth: let thyyour word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, them and speak thou goodfavorably. |
| 18:13 |
AndBut Micaiah said, As Jehovahthe livethLord lives, what my God saithsays, that I will I speak. |
| 18:14 |
And when he wascame come to the king, the king said untoto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth gilead to battle, or shall I forbearrefrain? AndHe he said, Go ye up, and prosper;succeed, andfor they shallwill be deliveredgiven into your hand. |
| 18:15 |
AndThen the king said to him, How many times shallmust I adjure theeyou thatto thou speak untoto me nothing but the truth in the name of Jehovahthe Lord? |
| 18:16 |
AndSo he said, I saw all Israel scatteredScattered uponon the mountains, asLike sheep thatwhich have no shepherd:; andAnd Jehovahthe Lord said, These have no master;. letLet each of them return every man to his house in peace. |
| 18:17 |
AndThen the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell theeyou that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil? |
| 18:18 |
And Micaiah said, Therefore, hear ye the word of Jehovah:the Lord. I saw Jehovahthe Lord sitting uponon hisHis throne, and all the host of heaven standing on hisHis right hand and on hisHis left. |
| 18:19 |
And Jehovahthe Lord said, Who shallwill entice Ahab king of Israel, thatto he may go up and fall at Ramoth gilead? And one spakesaid saying after this manner, while and another sayingsaid after that manner. |
| 18:20 |
AndThen therea spirit came forthforward a spirit, and stood before Jehovah, the Lord and said, I will entice him. And Jehovahthe Lord said untoto him, WherewithHow? |
| 18:21 |
And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lyingdeceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. AndThen heHe said, ThouYou shaltare to entice him, and shalt prevail also:. goGo forth, and do so. |
| 18:22 |
Now therefore, behold, Jehovahthe hathLord has put a lyingdeceiving spirit in the mouth of these thyyour prophets; andfor Jehovahthe hathLord spokenhas evilproclaimed concerningdisaster theeagainst you. |
| 18:23 |
Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smotestruck Micaiah uponon the cheek, and said, WhichHow waydid went the Spirit of Jehovahthe Lord pass from me to speak untoto theeyou? |
| 18:24 |
And Micaiah said, Behold, thouyou shaltshall see on that day, when thouyou shaltenter go into an inner chamberroom to hide thyselfyourself. |
| 18:25 |
AndThen the king of Israel said, Take ye Micaiah, and carryreturn him backto unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the kings son; |
| 18:26 |
and say, Thus saithsays the king, Put this fellowman in the prison, and feed him sparingly with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peacesafely. |
| 18:27 |
And Micaiah said, If thouyou indeed return atsafely, allthe inLord peace, has Jehovah hath not spoken by me. And he said, HearListen, ye peoples, all ofyou youpeople. |
| 18:28 |
So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up toagainst Ramoth gilead. |
| 18:29 |
And the king of Israel said untoto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and go into the battle;, but you put thou on thyyour robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself;, and they went into the battle. |
| 18:30 |
Now the king of SyriaAram had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, FightDo neithernot fight with small noror great, savebut only with the king of Israel alone. |
| 18:31 |
AndSo it came toabout pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel., Thereforeand they turned aboutaside to fight against him:. butBut Jehoshaphat cried out, and Jehovahthe Lord helped him;, and God moveddiverted them to depart from him. |
| 18:32 |
AndThen it camehappened to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him. |
| 18:33 |
And a certain man drew his bow at arandom venture, and smotestruck the king of Israel betweenin thea jointsjoint of the armor:. whereforeSo he said to the driver of the chariot, Turn thy handaround, and carrytake me out of the hostfight; for I am soreseverely wounded. |
| 18:34 |
And the battle increasedraged that day:, howbeitand the king of Israel stayedpropped himself up in his chariot againstin front of the SyriansArameans until the evenevening; and aboutat thesunset time of the going down of the sun he died. |
| 19:1 |
AndThen Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned in safety to his house in peace to Jerusalem. |
| 19:2 |
And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to kingKing Jehoshaphat, ShouldestShould thouyou help the wicked, and love themthose thatwho hate Jehovah?the forLord thisand thingso bring wrath ison uponyourself thee from beforethe Jehovah.Lord? |
| 19:3 |
NeverthelessBut there areis some good things found in theeyou, infor thatyou thouhave hastremoved put away the Asheroth outfrom of the land, and hastyou have set thyyour heart to seek God. |
| 19:4 |
AndSo Jehoshaphat dweltlived atin Jerusalem: and he went out again among the people from BeerBeersheba sheba to the hill country of Ephraim, and brought them back untoto Jehovahthe Lord, the God of their fathers. |
| 19:5 |
And he setappointed judges in the land throughoutin all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city,. |
| 19:6 |
andAnd he said to the judges, Consider what yeyou do:are doing, for yeyou judgedo not judge for man, but for Jehovah;the andLord hewho is with you inwhen theyou render judgment. |
| 19:7 |
Now thereforethen let the fear of Jehovahthe Lord be upon you; takebe heedvery andcareful what you do, it: for therethe isLord noour iniquityGod withwill Jehovahhave ourno God,part norin respectunrighteousness, ofor personspartiality, noror the taking of bribesa bribe. |
| 19:8 |
MoreoverAnd in Jerusalem didalso Jehoshaphat setappointed some of the Levites and the priests, and some of the heads of the fathers houseshouseholds of Israel, for the judgment of Jehovah, the Lord and forto controversies.judge Anddisputes theyamong returnedthe toinhabitants of Jerusalem. |
| 19:9 |
AndThen he charged them, saying, Thus you shall ye do in the fear of Jehovahthe Lord, faithfully, and with a perfect heartwholeheartedly. |
| 19:10 |
And whensoeverwhenever any controversydispute shallcomes come to you from your brethren thatwho dwelllive in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and ordinances, yeyou shall warn them, that they bemay not be guilty towardsbefore Jehovahthe Lord, and so wrath may not come uponon you and upon your brethren:. thisThus you shall do, and yeyou shallwill not be guilty. |
| 19:11 |
And, behold, Amariah the chief priest iswill be over you in all mattersthat ofpertains Jehovahto the Lord; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, in all that pertains to the kingsking. matters:Also also the Levites shall be officers before you. DealAct courageouslyresolutely, and Jehovahthe Lord be with the goodupright. |
| 20:1 |
AndNow it came toabout pass after this, that the childrensons of Moab, and the childrensons of Ammon, andtogether with them some of the AmmonitesMeunites, came to make war against Jehoshaphat to battle. |
| 20:2 |
Then theresome came someand thatreported toldto Jehoshaphat, saying, ThereA cometh a great multitude is coming against theeyou from beyond the sea, fromout Syria;of Aram and, behold, they are in Hazazon tamar thethat same is En gediEngedi. |
| 20:3 |
And Jehoshaphat feared, was afraid and setturned himselfhis attention to seek untothe JehovahLord; and he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. |
| 20:4 |
AndSo Judah gathered themselves together, to seek help offrom Jehovah:the Lord; they even outcame offrom all the cities of Judah they came to seek Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 20:5 |
AndThen Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of Jehovah, the Lord before the new court;, |
| 20:6 |

| 20:7 |
Didst Thou not thou, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before thyThy people Israel, and give it to the seeddescendants of Abraham thyThy friend for everforever? |
| 20:8 |
And they dweltlived thereinin it, and have built theeThee a sanctuary thereinthere for thyThy name, saying, |
| 20:9 |
IfShould evil come upon us, the sword, or judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house, and before theeThee for thyThy name is in this house, and cry untoto theeThee in our afflictiondistress, and thouThou wilt hear and savedeliver us. |
| 20:10 |
And now, behold, the childrensons of Ammon and Moab and mountMount Seir, whom thouThou wouldestdidst not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and destroyeddid not destroy them not;, |
| 20:11 |
behold, how they rewardare rewarding us, toby comecoming to castdrive us out offrom thyThy possession, which thouThou hast given us toas inheritan inheritance. |
| 20:12 |
O our God, wilt thouThou not judge them? forFor we haveare nopowerless mightbefore against this great companymultitude thatwho comethare coming against us; neithernor knowdo we know what to do:, but our eyes are uponon theeThee. |
| 20:13 |
And all Judah stoodwas standing before Jehovahthe Lord, with their little onesinfants, their wives, and their children. |
| 20:14 |

| 20:16 |
ToTomorrow morrow go ye down against them:. beholdBehold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz;, and yeyou shallwill find them at the end of the valley, beforein front of the wilderness of Jeruel. |
| 20:17 |
YeYou shallneed not need to fight in this battle:; setstation yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of Jehovahthe withLord youon your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem;. fearDo not, norfear or be dismayed:; totomorrow morrow go out againstto face them;, for Jehovahthe Lord is with you. |
| 20:18 |

And the Levites, offrom the childrensons of the Kohathites and of the childrensons of the Korahites, stood up to praise Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel, with ana exceedingvery loud voice. |
| 20:20 |
And they rose early in the morning, and went forthout intoto the wilderness of Tekoa:; and aswhen they went forthout, Jehoshaphat stood and said, HearListen to me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem:, believeput your trust in Jehovahthe Lord your God, soand shallyou yewill be established;. believePut hisyour prophets, trust soin shallHis yeprophets prosperand succeed. |
| 20:21 |
And when he had takenconsulted counsel with the people, he appointed themthose thatwho shouldsang singto untothe Jehovah,Lord and givethose praisewho praised Him in holy arrayattire, as they went out before the army, and saysaid, Give thanks untoto Jehovah;the Lord, for hisHis lovingkindness endurethis for evereverlasting. |
| 20:22 |
And when they began tosinging sing and to praisepraising, Jehovahthe Lord set liersambushes in wait against the childrensons of Ammon, Moab, and mountMount Seir, thatwho werehad come against Judah; andso they were smittenrouted. |
| 20:23 |
For the childrensons of Ammon and Moab stoodrose up against the inhabitants of mountMount Seir, utterlydestroying tothem slaycompletely, and destroy them: and when they had madefinished anwith end of the inhabitants of Seir, everythey one helped to destroy one another. |
| 20:24 |
AndWhen when Judah came to the watchlookout tower of the wilderness, they looked upontoward the multitude; and, behold, they were deadcorpses bodieslying fallenon to the earthground, and thereno wereone nonehad that escaped. |
| 20:25 |
And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take thetheir spoil of them, they found much among them, inincluding abundancegoods, both riches and dead bodiesgarments, and preciousvaluable jewels, things which they strippedtook off for themselves, more than they could carry. away:And and they were three days in taking the spoil, itbecause there was so much. |
| 20:26 |
AndThen on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah;, for there they blessed Jehovah:the thereforeLord. theTherefore namethey ofhave named that place was called The valleyValley of Beracah untountil this daytoday. |
| 20:27 |
ThenAnd they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, andreturned with Jehoshaphat inat thetheir forefront of themhead, toreturning go again to Jerusalem with joy;, for Jehovahthe Lord had made them to rejoice over their enemies. |
| 20:28 |
And they came to Jerusalem with psalteriesharps, andlyres, harps and trumpets untoto the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 20:29 |
And the feardread of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, lands when they heard that Jehovahthe Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. |
| 20:30 |
So the realmkingdom of Jehoshaphat was quiet;at peace, for his God gave him rest roundon aboutall sides. |
| 20:31 |
AndNow Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah:. heHe was thirty and five years old when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty and five years. inAnd Jerusalem: and his mothers name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi. |
| 20:32 |
And he walked in the way of Asa his father, Asa and turneddid not asidedepart from it, doing that which was right in the eyessight of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 20:33 |
HowbeitThe the high places, however, were not taken awayremoved; neitherthe aspeople yet had thenot peopleyet setdirected their hearts untoto the God of their fathers. |
| 20:34 |
Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first andto last, behold, they are written in the historyannals of Jehu the son of Hanani, which is insertedrecorded in the bookBook of the kingsKings of Israel. |
| 20:35 |
And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah joinallied himself with Ahaziah king of Israel;. theHe sameacted didwickedly veryin wickedly:so doing. |
| 20:36 |
andSo he joinedallied himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish;, and they made the ships in Ezion geberEziongeber. |
| 20:37 |
Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because thouyou hasthave joinedallied thyselfyourself with Ahaziah, Jehovahthe hathLord has destroyed thyyour works. AndSo the ships were broken, soand thatcould they were not able to go to Tarshish. |
| 21:1 |
AndThen Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David:, and Jehoram his son reignedbecame king in his steadplace. |
| 21:2 |
And he had brethrenbrothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and AzariahAzaryahu, and Michael, and Shephatiah;. allAll these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel. |
| 21:3 |
And their father gave them greatmany gifts, of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah:, but he gave the kingdom gave he to Jehoram, because he was the first born. |
| 21:4 |
Now when Jehoram washad risentaken up over the kingdom of his father, and hadmade strengthenedhimself himselfsecure, he slewkilled all his brethrenbrothers with the sword, and diverssome also of the princesrulers of Israel also. |
| 21:5 |
Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. |
| 21:6 |
And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, just as did the house of Ahab; did for heAhabs had the daughter ofwas Ahabhis to wife:, and he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 21:7 |
HowbeitYet Jehovahthe wouldLord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant thatwhich heHe had made with David, and assince heHe had promised to give a lamp to him and to his childrensons alwayforever. |
| 21:8 |
In his days Edom revolted fromagainst under the handrule of Judah, and madeset up a king over themselves. |
| 21:9 |
Then Jehoram passedcrossed over with his captains, commanders and all his chariots with him:. andAnd it came about that he rosearose up by night, and smotestruck down the Edomites thatwho compassedwere surrounding him about, and the captainscommanders of the chariots. |
| 21:10 |
So Edom revolted fromagainst under the hand of Judah untoto this day:. thenThen did Libnah revoltrevolted at the same time fromagainst under his handrule, because he had forsaken Jehovah, the Lord God of his fathers. |
| 21:11 |
Moreover, he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and madecaused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot, and led Judah astray. |
| 21:12 |
AndThen therea letter came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saithsays Jehovah, the Lord God of Davidyour thyfather fatherDavid, Because thouyou hasthave not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thyyour father, norand in the ways of Asa king of Judah, |
| 21:13 |
but hasthave walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hasthave madecaused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the harlot, like as the house of Ahab didplayed the harlot, and alsoyou hasthave slainalso thykilled brethrenyour ofbrothers, thyyour fathersown housefamily, who were better than thyself:you, |
| 21:14 |
behold, Jehovahthe willLord smiteis withgoing ato greatstrike plagueyour thy people, andyour thy childrensons, andyour thy wives, and all thyyour substancepossessions with a great calamity; |
| 21:15 |
and thouyou shaltwill havesuffer greatsevere sickness, bya disease of thyyour bowels, until thyyour bowels fallcome out bybecause reason of the sickness, day by day. |
| 21:16 |
AndThen Jehovahthe Lord stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the ArabiansArabs thatwho arebordered beside the Ethiopians:; |
| 21:17 |
and they came up against Judah, and brakeinvaded into it, and carried away all the substancepossessions that was found in the kings house, andtogether with his sons also, and his wives;, so that thereno son was neverleft ato son left him, saveexcept Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons. |
| 21:18 |
AndSo after all this Jehovahthe Lord smote him in his bowels with an incurable diseasesickness. |
| 21:19 |
AndNow it came toabout pass, in processthe course of time, at the end of two years, that his bowels fellcame out bybecause reason of his sickness, and he died ofin soregreat diseasespain. And his people made no burningfire for him, like the burningfire offor his fathers. |
| 21:20 |
ThirtyHe andwas thirty two years old was he when he beganbecame to reignking, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years:; and he departed withoutwith beingno desired;ones regret, and they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchrestombs of the kings. |
| 22:1 |
AndThen the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his stead;place, for the band of men thatwho came with the ArabiansArabs to the camp had slain all the eldestolder sons. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reignedbegan to reign. |
| 22:2 |
FortyAhaziah andwas twenty two years old was Ahaziah when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem:. andAnd his mothers name was Athaliah, the daughtergranddaughter of Omri. |
| 22:3 |
He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab;, for his mother was his counsellorcounselor to do wickedly. |
| 22:4 |
And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, the asLord didlike the house of Ahab;, for they were his counsellorscounselors after the death of his father, to his destruction. |
| 22:5 |
He also walked alsoaccording afterto their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to wage war against Hazael king of SyriaAram at Ramoth gilead:. andBut the SyriansArameans wounded Joram. |
| 22:6 |
AndSo he returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which they had giveninflicted on him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of SyriaAram. And AzariahAhaziah, the son of Jehoram king of Judah, went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick. |
| 22:7 |
Now the destruction of Ahaziah was offrom God, in that he went untoto Joram:. forFor when he was comecame, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom Jehovahthe Lord had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab. |
| 22:8 |
And it came toabout pass, when Jehu was executing judgment uponon the house of Ahab, that he found the princes of Judah, and the sons of theAhaziahs brethren of Ahaziahbrothers, ministering to Ahaziah, and slew them. |
| 22:9 |
AndHe healso sought Ahaziah, and they caught him nowwhile he was hiding in Samaria,; and they brought him to Jehu, andput slew him; to death, and they buried him,. forFor they said, He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought Jehovahthe Lord with all his heart. AndSo there was no one of the house of Ahaziah hadto noretain the power toof hold the kingdom. |
| 22:10 |
Now when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she aroserose and destroyed all the seed royal offspring of the house of Judah. |
| 22:11 |
But Jehoshabeath, the kings daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the kings sons thatwho were slainbeing put to death, and putplaced him and his nurse in the bedchamberbedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of kingKing Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest for she was the sister of Ahaziah, hid him from Athaliah, so that she slewwould not put him notto death. |
| 22:12 |
And he was hidden with them hid in the house of God six years: andwhile Athaliah reigned over the land. |
| 23:1 |
AndNow in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds,: Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of JehohananJohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, and they entered into a covenant with him. |
| 23:2 |
And they went aboutthroughout in Judah, and gathered the Levites outfrom of all the cities of Judah, and the heads of the fathers houseshouseholds of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem. |
| 23:3 |
AndThen all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And heJehoiada said untoto them, Behold, the kings son shall reign, as Jehovahthe hathLord has spoken concerning the sons of David. |
| 23:4 |
This is the thing thatwhich yeyou shall do: aone third part of you, thatof comethe inpriests onand theLevites sabbath, who ofcome thein priestson and of the Levitessabbath, shall be porters of the thresholds;gatekeepers, |
| 23:5 |
and aone third part shall be at the kings house;, and a third part at the gateGate of the foundation:Foundation; and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 23:6 |
But let noneno comeone intoenter the house of Jehovah, the saveLord except the priests, and theythe thatministering minister of the Levites; they shallmay come inenter, for they are holy:. butAnd let all the people shall keep the charge of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 23:7 |
And the Levites shallwill compasssurround the king round about, everyeach man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoeverwhoever comethenters into the house, let him be slain:killed. andThus be ye with the king when he comethcomes in, and when he goethgoes out. |
| 23:8 |
So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded:. andAnd theyeach tookone everyof manthem took his men, thosewho that were to come in on the sabbath, with those thatwho were to go out on the sabbath;, for Jehoiada the priest dismisseddid not dismiss any of the coursesdivisions. |
| 23:9 |
AndThen Jehoiada the priest deliveredgave to the captains of hundreds the spears, and bucklers, the large and small shields, thatwhich had been kingKing Davids, which were in the house of God. |
| 23:10 |
And he setstationed all the people, everyeach man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and by the house, byaround the king round about. |
| 23:11 |
Then they brought out the kings son, and put the crown uponon him, and gave him the testimony, and made him king:. andAnd Jehoiada and his sons anointed him; and they said, Long live the king.! |
| 23:12 |
AndWhen when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came tointo the peoplehouse intoof the houseLord ofto Jehovah:the people. |
| 23:13 |
andAnd she looked, and, behold, the king stoodwas standing by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpetstrumpeters bywere beside the king;. andAnd all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets;, the singers alsowith playedtheir onmusical instruments ofleading music, and led the singing of praise. Then Athaliah renttore her clothes, and said, Treason! treasonTreason! |
| 23:14 |
And Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds thatwho were setappointed over the hostarmy, and said untoto them, HaveBring her forthout between the ranks; and whosowhoever followethfollows her, letput himto bedeath slain with the sword:. forFor the priest said, SlayLet her not be put to death in the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 23:15 |
So they madeseized way for her;, and when she wentarrived toat the entrance of the horseHorse gateGate toof the kings house:, and they slewput her to death there. |
| 23:16 |
AndThen Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, and all the people, and the king, that they should be Jehovahsthe Lords people. |
| 23:17 |
And all the people went to the house of Baal, and braketore it down, and brakethey broke in pieces his altars and his images in pieces, and slewkilled Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. |
| 23:18 |
AndMoreover, Jehoiada appointedplaced the officersoffices of the house of Jehovahthe Lord under the handauthority of the Levitical priests the Levites, whom David had distributedassigned inover the house of Jehovahthe Lord, to offer the burnt offerings of Jehovahthe Lord, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of David. |
| 23:19 |
And he setstationed the portersgatekeepers atof the gateshouse of the houseLord, ofso Jehovah, that noneno thatone should enter who was unclean in anythingany shouldway enter inunclean. |
| 23:20 |
And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governorsrulers of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king down from the house of Jehovah:the Lord, and they came through the upper gate untoto the kings house,. andAnd setthey placed the king upon the royal throne of the kingdom. |
| 23:21 |
So all of the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. AndFor Athaliah they had slainput Athaliah to death with the sword. |
| 24:1 |
Joash was seven years old when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem:; and his mothers name was Zibiah, offrom Beer shebaBeersheba. |
| 24:2 |
And Joash did thatwhat which was right in the eyessight of Jehovahthe Lord all the days of Jehoiada the priest. |
| 24:3 |
And Jehoiada took two wives for him, two wives; and he begatbecame the father of sons and daughters. |
| 24:4 |
AndNow it came toabout pass after this, that Joash wasdecided minded to restore the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 24:5 |
And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out untoto the cities of Judah, and gathercollect ofmoney from all Israel money to repair the house of your God fromannually, year to year; and seeyou thatshall yedo hasten the matter quickly. HowbeitBut the Levites hasteneddid itnot notact quickly. |
| 24:6 |
AndSo the king calledsummoned for Jehoiada the chief, priest and said untoto him, Why hasthave thouyou not required of the Levites to bring in outfrom of Judah and outfrom of Jerusalem the taxlevy offixed by Moses the servant of Jehovah, the andLord ofon the assemblycongregation of Israel, for the tent of the testimony? |
| 24:7 |
For the sons of Athaliah, the that wicked woman,Athaliah had broken upinto the house of God; and alsoeven allused the dedicatedholy things of the house of Jehovahthe didLord theyfor bestow upon the BaalimBaals. |
| 24:8 |
So the king commanded, and they made a chest, and set it withoutoutside atby the gate of the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 24:9 |
And they made a proclamation throughin Judah and Jerusalem, to bring into forthe JehovahLord the taxlevy thatfixed by Moses the servant of God laidon upon Israel in the wilderness. |
| 24:10 |
And all the princesofficers and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, their levies and castdropped them into the chest, until they had made an endfinished. |
| 24:11 |
And it wascame so,about that, whenever at what time the chest was brought untoin to the kings officersofficer by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, then the kings scribe and the chief priests officer camewould andcome, emptiedempty the chest, andtake took it, and carriedreturn it to its place again. Thus they did daydaily byand day, collected andmuch gathered money in abundance. |
| 24:12 |
And the king and Jehoiada gave it to suchthose aswho did the work of the service of the house of Jehovahthe Lord; and they hired masons and carpenters to restore the house of Jehovahthe Lord, and also suchworkers asin wrought iron and brassbronze to repair the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 24:13 |
So the workmen wroughtlabored, and the repair work ofprogressed repairing went forward in their hands, and they setrestored up the house of God inaccording to its statespecifications, and strengthened it. |
| 24:14 |
And when they had made an endfinished, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada,; whereofand wereit was made vesselsinto utensils for the house of Jehovahthe Lord, evenutensils vesselsfor wherewiththe toservice minister and tothe offerburnt offering, and spoons, pans and vesselsutensils of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of Jehovahthe Lord continually all the days of Jehoiada. |
| 24:15 |
ButNow when Jehoiada waxedreached olda andripe wasold fullage of days, and he died; ahe was one hundred and thirty years old wasat hehis when he dieddeath. |
| 24:16 |
And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done goodwell in Israel, and towardto God and hisHis house. |
| 24:17 |
NowBut after the death of Jehoiada came the princesofficials of Judah, came and madebowed obeisancedown to the king., Thenand the king hearkenedlistened untoto them. |
| 24:18 |
And they forsookabandoned the house of Jehovahthe Lord, the God of their fathers, and served the Asherim and the idols:; andso wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their guiltinessguilt. |
| 24:19 |
Yet heHe sent prophets to them, to bring them againback untoto Jehovahthe Lord; andthough they testified against them:, but they would not give earlisten. |
| 24:20 |
AndThen the Spirit of God came uponon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people, and said untoto them, Thus saithGod Godhas said, Why do you transgress ye the commandments of Jehovah, the soLord thatand yedo cannotnot prosper? becauseBecause yeyou have forsaken Jehovahthe Lord, heHe hathhas also forsaken you. |
| 24:21 |
AndSo they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandmentcommand of the king they stoned him to death in the court of the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 24:22 |
Thus Joash the king remembereddid not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father Jehoiada had doneshown to him, but slewhe murdered his son. And whenas he died, he said, JehovahMay lookthe uponLord it,see and require it.avenge! |
| 24:23 |
AndNow it came toabout pass at the endturn of the year, that the army of the SyriansArameans came up against him:; and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princesofficials of the people from among the people, and sent all thetheir spoil ofto them unto the king of Damascus. |
| 24:24 |
ForIndeed the army of the SyriansArameans came with a small companynumber of men; andyet Jehovahthe Lord delivered a very great hostarmy into their handhands, because they had forsaken Jehovahthe Lord, the God of their fathers. SoThus they executed judgment uponon Joash. |
| 24:25 |
And when they werehad departed from him for they left him very sick, his own servants conspired against him forbecause of the blood of the sonsson of Jehoiada the priest, and slewmurdered him on his bed,. andSo he died;, and they buried him in the city of David, but they burieddid not bury him not in the sepulchrestombs of the kings. |
| 24:26 |
AndNow these are theythose thatwho conspired against him: Zabad the son of Shimeath the Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith the Moabitess. |
| 24:27 |
NowAs concerningto his sons, and the greatnessmany oforacles theagainst burdens laid upon him, and the rebuilding of the house of God, behold, they are written in the commentarytreatise of the bookBook of the kingsKings. AndThen Amaziah his son reignedbecame king in his steadplace. |
| 25:1 |
Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem:. andAnd his mothers name was Jehoaddan, of Jerusalem. |
| 25:2 |
And he did that which was right in the eyessight of Jehovahthe Lord, butyet not with a perfectwhole heart. |
| 25:3 |
Now it came toabout pass,as whensoon as the kingdom was establishedfirmly untoin himhis grasp, that he slewkilled his servants thatwho had killedslain his father the king his father. |
| 25:4 |
ButHowever, he putdid not put their children to death, but did accordingas toit that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, aswhich Jehovahthe Lord commanded, saying, TheFathers fathers shall not diebe put to death for the childrensons, neithernor shallsons thebe childrenput dieto death for the fathers;, but everyeach man shall diebe put to death for his own sin. |
| 25:5 |
Moreover, Amaziah gatheredassembled Judah together, and orderedappointed them according to their fathers houses, households under captainscommanders of thousands and captainscommanders of hundreds, eventhroughout all Judah and Benjamin:; and he numberedtook thema census of those from twenty years old and upward, and found them threeto hundredbe thousand300,000 chosenchoice men, able to go forth to war, thatand could handle spear and shield. |
| 25:6 |
He hired also a100,000 hundredvaliant thousandwarriors mighty men of valor out of Israel for aone hundred talents of silver. |
| 25:7 |
But there came a man of God came to him, saying, O king, letdo not let the army of Israel go with thee;you, for Jehovahthe Lord is not with Israel, tonor wit, with allany of the childrensons of Ephraim. |
| 25:8 |
But if thouyou wiltdo go, do valiantlyit, be strong for the battle:; yet God will castbring theeyou down before the enemy;, for God hathhas power to help, and to castbring down. |
| 25:9 |
And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the armytroops of Israel? And the man of God answered, JehovahThe isLord ablehas much more to give theeyou much more than this. |
| 25:10 |
Then Amaziah separateddismissed them, to wit, the armytroops thatwhich wascame come to him outfrom of Ephraim, to go home; again:so wherefore their anger wasburned greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in fierce anger. |
| 25:11 |
AndNow Amaziah tookstrengthened couragehimself, and led forth his people forth, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smotestruck down 10,000 of the childrensons of Seir ten thousand. |
| 25:12 |
AndThe othersons ten thousand did the children of Judah carryalso awaycaptured alive10,000 alive and brought them untoto the top of the rockcliff, and castthrew them down from the top of the rock, cliff so that they were all brokendashed into pieces. |
| 25:13 |
But the mentroops of the army whom Amaziah sent back, thatfrom theygoing should not go with him to battle, fellraided upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria evento unto Beth horon, and smotestruck down 3,000 of them three thousand, and tookplundered much spoil. |
| 25:14 |
Now it came toabout pass, after that Amaziah wascame come from theslaughtering slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the childrensons of Seir, and set them up toas be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense untoto them. |
| 25:15 |
WhereforeThen the anger of Jehovahthe wasLord kindledburned against Amaziah, and heHe sent unto him a prophet, who said untoto him, Why hasthave thouyou sought after the gods of the people, whichwho have not delivered their own people outfrom ofyour thy hand? |
| 25:16 |
And it came toabout pass, as he talkedwas talking with him, that the king said untoto him, Have we madeappointed theeyou ofa theroyal kings counselcounselor? forbear;Stop! whyWhy shouldestshould thouyou be smittenstruck down? Then the prophet forbare, stopped and said, I know that God hathhas determinedplanned to destroy theeyou, because thouyou hasthave done this, and hasthave not hearkenedlistened untoto my counsel. |
| 25:17 |
Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, counsel and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz the son of Jehu, the king of Israel, saying, Come, let us lookface oneeach another in the faceother. |
| 25:18 |
And Joash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistlethorn thatbush which was in Lebanon sent to the cedar thatwhich was in Lebanon, saying, Give thyyour daughter to my son toin wife:marriage. andBut there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trodtrampled down the thistlethorn bush. |
| 25:19 |
ThouYou sayestsaid, LoBehold, thouyou hasthave smittendefeated Edom;. andAnd thyyour heart liftethhas theebecome upproud toin boast:boasting. abideNow nowstay at home; for why shouldestshould thouyou meddleprovoke totrouble thythat hurtyou, thateven thouyou, shouldestshould fall, even thou, and Judah with theeyou? |
| 25:20 |
But Amaziah would not hear;listen, for it was offrom God, that heHe might deliver them into the hand of theirJoash enemies, because they had sought after the gods of Edom. |
| 25:21 |
So Joash king of Israel went up;, and he and Amaziah king of Judah lookedfaced oneeach anotherother in the face at Beth shemeshBethshemesh, which belongethbelonged to Judah. |
| 25:22 |
And Judah was putdefeated toby the worse before Israel;, and they fled everyeach man to his tent. |
| 25:23 |
AndThen Joash king of Israel tookcaptured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and braketore down the wall of Jerusalem from the gateGate of Ephraim untoto the cornerCorner gateGate, four400 hundred cubits. |
| 25:24 |
And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vesselsutensils thatwhich were found in the house of God with Obed edom, and the treasures of the kings house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria. |
| 25:25 |
And Amaziah, the son of Joash king of Judah, lived fifteen years after the death of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel fifteen years. |
| 25:26 |
Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, from first andto last, behold, are they not written in the bookBook of the kingsKings of Judah and Israel? |
| 25:27 |
NowAnd from the time that Amaziah didturned turn away from following Jehovahthe Lord they madeconspired a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem;, and he fled to Lachish:; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slewkilled him there. |
| 25:28 |
AndThen they brought him uponon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah. |
| 26:1 |
And all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the roomplace of his father Amaziah. |
| 26:2 |
He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers. |
| 26:3 |
SixteenUzziah was sixteen years old was Uzziah when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem:; and his mothers name was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem. |
| 26:4 |
And he did that which was right in the eyessight of Jehovah, the Lord according to all that his father Amaziah had done. |
| 26:5 |
And he setcontinued himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding inthrough the vision of God:; and as long as he sought Jehovahthe Lord, God madeprospered him to prosper. |
| 26:6 |
AndNow he went forthout and warred against the Philistines, and brakebroke down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the countryarea of Ashdod, and among the Philistines. |
| 26:7 |
And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians thatwho dweltlived in Gur baal, and the MeunimMeunites. |
| 26:8 |
AndThe the Ammonites also gave tribute to Uzziah:, and his namefame spreadextended abroad even to the entranceborder of Egypt;, for he waxedbecame exceedingvery strong. |
| 26:9 |
Moreover, Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the cornerCorner gate,Gate and at the valleyValley gate,Gate and at the turningcorner ofbuttress the wall, and fortified them. |
| 26:10 |
And he built towers in the wilderness, and hewed out many cisterns, for he had much cattle;livestock, both in the lowland also, and in the plain:. andHe healso had husbandmenplowmen and vinedressers in the mountainshill country and in the fruitfulfertile fields;, for he loved husbandrythe soil. |
| 26:11 |
Moreover, Uzziah had an army ofready fightingfor menbattle, thatwhich wententered outcombat to war by bandsdivisions, according to the number of their reckoningmuster, madeprepared by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officerofficial, under the handdirection of Hananiah, one of the kings captainsofficers. |
| 26:12 |
The wholetotal number of the heads of fathersthe houseshouseholds, evenof thevaliant mighty men of valorwarriors, was two thousand and six hundred2,600. |
| 26:13 |
And under their handdirection was an elite army, threeof hundred307,500, thousandwho andcould sevenwage thousand and five hundred, that made war with mightygreat power, to help the king against the enemy. |
| 26:14 |
AndMoreover, Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the host, army shields, and spears, and helmets, andbody coats of mailarmor, and bows, and sling stones for slinging. |
| 26:15 |
And in Jerusalem he made inengines Jerusalemof engines, war invented by skilfulskillful men, to be on the towers and uponon the battlementscorners, wherewithfor tothe shootpurpose of shooting arrows and great stones. AndHence his namefame spread farafar, abroad; for he was marvellouslymarvelously helped, tilluntil he was strong. |
| 26:16 |
But when he wasbecame strong, his heart was liftedso up,proud so that he didacted corruptly, and he trespassedwas againstunfaithful Jehovahto the Lord his God;, for he wententered into the temple of Jehovahthe Lord to burn incense uponon the altar of incense. |
| 26:17 |
AndThen Azariah the priest wententered in after him, and with him fourscoreeighty priests of Jehovahthe Lord, that were valiant men:. |
| 26:18 |
andAnd they withstoodopposed Uzziah the king, and said untoto him, It pertainethis not untofor theeyou, Uzziah, to burn incense untoto Jehovahthe Lord, but tofor the priests, the sons of Aaron, thatwho are consecrated to burn incense:. goGet out of the sanctuary;, for thouyou hasthave trespassed;been neitherunfaithful, shalland itwill behave forno thine honor from Jehovahthe Lord God. |
| 26:19 |
ThenBut Uzziah, waswith wroth; and he had a censer in his hand tofor burnburning incense, was enraged; and while he was wrothenraged with the priests, the leprosy brakebroke forthout inon his forehead before the priests in the house of Jehovahthe Lord, beside the altar of incense. |
| 26:20 |
And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked uponat him, and, behold, he was leprous inon his forehead,; and they thrusthurried him out quicklyof fromthere, thence;and yea,he himself hasted also hastened to goget out, because Jehovahthe Lord had smitten him. |
| 26:21 |
And King Uzziah the king was a leper untoto the day of his death,; and dwelthe lived in a separate house, being a leper;, for he was cut off from the house of Jehovah:the andLord. And Jotham his son was over the kings house, judging the people of the land. |
| 26:22 |
Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first andto last, did Isaiah the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, writehas written. |
| 26:23 |
So Uzziah slept with his fathers;, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burialthe grave which belonged to the kings;, for they said, He is a leper:. andAnd Jotham his son reignedbecame king in his steadplace. |
| 27:1 |
Jotham was twenty and five years old when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem:. andAnd his mothers name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok. |
| 27:2 |
And he did that which was right in the eyessight of Jehovahthe Lord, according to all that his father Uzziah had done:; howbeithowever he entereddid not intoenter the temple of Jehovahthe Lord. AndBut the people didcontinued yetacting corruptly. |
| 27:3 |
He built the upper gate of the house of Jehovahthe Lord, and onhe built extensively the wall of Ophel he built much. |
| 27:4 |
Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forests he built castlesfortresses and towers on the wooded hills. |
| 27:5 |
He fought also with the king of the childrenAmmonites of Ammon, and prevailed againstover them. Andso that the childrenAmmonites of Ammon gave him theduring samethat year aone hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measureskors of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. SoThe muchAmmonites didalso thepaid childrenhim ofthis Ammonamount render unto him, in the second year also, and in the third year. |
| 27:6 |
So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Jehovahthe Lord his God. |
| 27:7 |
Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, andeven all his wars, and his waysacts, behold, they are written in the bookBook of the kingsKings of Israel and Judah. |
| 27:8 |
He was twenty five and twenty years old when he beganbecame to reignking, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. |
| 27:9 |
And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David:; and Ahaz his son reignedbecame king in his steadplace. |
| 28:1 |
Ahaz was twenty years old when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem:; and he did not thatdo which was right in the eyessight of Jehovah, the likeLord as David his father; had done. |
| 28:2 |
butBut he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel,; andhe also made also molten images for the BaalimBaals. |
| 28:3 |
Moreover, he burntburned incense in the valley of theBen son of Hinnomhinnom, and burntburned his childrensons in the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom Jehovahthe castLord had driven out before the childrensons of Israel. |
| 28:4 |
And he sacrificed and burntburned incense inon the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree. |
| 28:5 |
Wherefore, Jehovahthe Lord his God delivered him into the hand of the king of SyriaAram; and they smotedefeated him, and carried away offrom hishim a great multitudenumber of captives, and brought them to Damascus. And he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smoteinflicted him with aheavy great slaughtercasualties. |
| 28:6 |
For Pekah the son of Remaliah slew in Judah a120,000 hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all of them valiant men;, because they had forsaken Jehovah, the Lord God of their fathers. |
| 28:7 |
And Zichri, a mighty man of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah the kings son, and Azrikam the ruler of the house, and Elkanah thatthe wassecond next to the king. |
| 28:8 |
And the childrensons of Israel carried away captive of their brethren two hundred thousand200,000 women, sons, and daughters,; and took also awaya muchgreat deal of spoil from them, and they brought the spoil to Samaria. |
| 28:9 |
But a prophet of Jehovahthe Lord was there, whose name was Oded:; and he went out to meet the hostarmy thatwhich came to Samaria, and said untoto them, Behold, because Jehovahthe Lord, the God of your fathers, was wrothangry with Judah, heHe hathhas delivered them into your hand, and yeyou have slain them in a rage which hathhas even reached up unto heaven. |
| 28:10 |
And now yeyou purposeare proposing to keepsubjugate underfor yourselves the childrenpeople of Judah and Jerusalem for bondmenmale and bondwomenfemale untoslaves. you:Surely, butdo areyou there not evenhave withtransgressions you trespasses of your own against Jehovahthe Lord your God? |
| 28:11 |
Now heartherefore, listen to me therefore, and sendreturn back the captives, thatwhom yeyou havecaptured takenfrom captive of your brethren;brothers, for the fierceburning wrathanger of Jehovahthe Lord is uponagainst you. |
| 28:12 |
Then certainsome of the heads of the childrensons of Ephraim, Azariah the son of Johanan, Berechiah the son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah the son of Shallum, and Amasa the son of Hadlai, stoodarose up against themthose thatwho camewere coming from the warbattle, |
| 28:13 |
and said untoto them, YeYou shallmust not bring in the captives hither:in here, for yeyou purposeare thatproposing whichto will bring upon us aguilt trespass against Jehovah, the toLord addadding untoto our sins and to our trespassguilt; for our trespassguilt is great, andso therethat isHis fierceburning wrathanger is against Israel. |
| 28:14 |
So the armed men left the captives and the spoil before the princesofficers and all the assembly. |
| 28:15 |
AndThen the men thatwho havewere beendesignated mentioned by name rose uparose, and took the captives, and withthey the spoil clothed all thattheir were naked amongones them, from the spoil; and arrayedthey gave them, clothes and shodsandals, fed them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them with oil, andled carried all thetheir feeble ofones themon upon assesdonkeys, and brought them to Jericho, the city of palm trees, untoto their brethren:brothers; then they returned to Samaria. |
| 28:16 |
At that time didKing king Ahaz sendsent untoto the kings of Assyria tofor help him. |
| 28:17 |
For again the Edomites had come and smittenattacked Judah, and carried away captives. |
| 28:18 |
The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the lowland, and of the SouthNegev of Judah, and had taken Beth shemesh, and Aijalon, and Gederoth, and Soco with theits towns thereofvillages, and Timnah with theits towns thereofvillages, and Gimzo alsowith andits thevillages, towns thereof: and they dweltsettled there. |
| 28:19 |
For Jehovahthe broughtLord humbled Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel;, for he had dealtbrought wantonlyabout a lack of restraint in Judah, and trespassedwas sorevery againstunfaithful Jehovahto the Lord. |
| 28:20 |
AndSo Tilgath pilneser king of Assyria came untoagainst him, and distressedafflicted him, butinstead strengthenedof strengthening him not. |
| 28:21 |
ForAlthough Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of Jehovah, the Lord and out of the housepalace of the king and of the princes, and gave it untoto the king of Assyria:, but it helpeddid not help him not. |
| 28:22 |
AndNow in the time of his distress didthis hesame trespassKing Ahaz became yet more againstunfaithful Jehovah,to thisthe same king AhazLord. |
| 28:23 |
For he sacrificed untoto the gods of Damascus, which smotehad defeated him;, and he said, Because the gods of the kings of SyriaAram helped them, thereforeI will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they werebecame the ruindownfall of him, and of all Israel. |
| 28:24 |
AndMoreover, when Ahaz gathered together the vesselsutensils of the house of God, andhe cut in pieces the vesselsutensils of the house of God, in pieces; and shuthe upclosed the doors of the house of Jehovah;the Lord, and he made him altars for himself in every corner of Jerusalem. |
| 28:25 |
And in every city of Judah he made high places to burn incense untoto other gods, and provoked tothe anger JehovahLord, the God of his fathers, to anger. |
| 28:26 |
Now the rest of his acts, and all his ways, from first andto last, behold, they are written in the bookBook of the kingsKings of Judah and Israel. |
| 28:27 |
AndSo Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, even in Jerusalem;, for they broughtdid not bring him not into the sepulchrestombs of the kings of Israel:; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his steadplace. |
| 29:1 |
Hezekiah beganbecame toking reign when he was twenty five and twenty years old; and he reigned twenty nine and twenty years in Jerusalem:. andAnd his mothers name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah. |
| 29:2 |
And he did that which was right in the eyessight of Jehovahthe Lord, according to all that David his father David had done. |
| 29:3 |
HeIn in the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the house of Jehovah, the Lord and repaired them. |
| 29:4 |
And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the broadsquare place on the east,. |
| 29:5 |
andThen he said untoto them, HearListen to me, yeO Levites;. nowConsecrate sanctifyyourselves yourselvesnow, and sanctifyconsecrate the house of Jehovahthe Lord, the God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthinessuncleanness out offrom the holy place. |
| 29:6 |
For our fathers have trespassed, been unfaithful and have done that which was evil in the sight of Jehovahthe Lord our God, and have forsaken him,Him and have turned away their faces away from the habitationdwelling place of Jehovahthe Lord, and have turned their backs. |
| 29:7 |
AlsoThey they have also shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense noror offered burnt offerings in the holy place untoto the God of Israel. |
| 29:8 |
WhereforeTherefore the wrath of Jehovahthe Lord was uponagainst Judah and Jerusalem, and heHe hathhas deliveredmade them toan beobject tossedof to and froterror, toof be an astonishmenthorror, and aof hissing, as yeyou see with your own eyes. |
| 29:9 |
For, lobehold, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this. |
| 29:10 |
Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel, that hisHis fierceburning anger may turn away from us. |
| 29:11 |
My sons, bedo not nowbe negligent; now, for Jehovahthe hathLord has chosen you to stand before himHim, to minister untoto himHim, and thatto ye should be hisHis ministers, and burn incense. |
| 29:12 |
Then the Levites arose,: Mahath, the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, offrom the sons of the Kohathites; and offrom the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and offrom the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah; |
| 29:13 |
and offrom the sons of Elizaphan, Shimri and JeuelJeiel; and offrom the sons of Asaph, Zechariah and Mattaniah; |
| 29:14 |
and offrom the sons of Heman, JehuelJehiel and Shimei; and offrom the sons of Jeduthun, Shemaiah and Uzziel. |
| 29:15 |
And they gatheredassembled their brethrenbrothers, andconsecrated sanctified themselves, and went in to cleanse the house of the Lord, according to the commandment of the king by the words of Jehovah, to cleanse the house of JehovahLord. |
| 29:16 |
AndSo the priests went in untoto the inner part of the house of Jehovah, the Lord to cleanse it, and broughtevery outunclean allthing thewhich uncleanness that they found in the temple of Jehovahthe intoLord they brought out to the court of the house of Jehovahthe Lord. AndThen the Levites tookreceived it, to carry it out abroad to the brookKidron Kidronvalley. |
| 29:17 |
Now they began the consecration on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they toentered the porch of Jehovah;the andLord. Then they sanctifiedconsecrated the house of Jehovahthe Lord in eight days:, and finished on the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end. |
| 29:18 |
Then they went in to King Hezekiah the king within the palace, and said, We have cleansed all the whole house of Jehovahthe Lord, and the altar of burnt offering, with all theof vesselsits thereofutensils, and the table of showbread, with all theof vesselsits thereofutensils. |
| 29:19 |
Moreover, all the vessels, utensils which kingKing Ahaz inhad discarded during his reign didin casthis awayunfaithfulness, whenwe he trespassed, have we prepared and sanctifiedconsecrated; and, behold, they are before the altar of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 29:20 |
Then King Hezekiah the king arose early, and gatheredassembled the princes of the city, and went up to the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 29:21 |
And they brought seven bullocksbulls, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven hemale goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commandedordered the priests, the sons of Aaron, to offer them on the altar of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 29:22 |
So they killedslaughtered the bullocksbulls, and the priests receivedtook the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar:. andThey theyalso killedslaughtered the rams, and sprinkled the blood uponon the altar:; they killedslaughtered also the lambs, also and sprinkled the blood uponon the altar. |
| 29:23 |
AndThen they brought near the hemale goats forof the sin offering before the king and the assembly;, and they laid their hands uponon them:. |
| 29:24 |
andAnd the priests killedslaughtered them, and theypurged madethe aaltar sin offering with their blood upon the altar, to makeatone atonement for all Israel;, for the king commandedordered that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel. |
| 29:25 |
AndHe hethen setstationed the Levites in the house of Jehovahthe Lord with cymbals, with psalteriesharps, and with harpslyres, according to the commandmentcommand of David, and of Gad the kings seer, and of Nathan the prophet; for the commandmentcommand was offrom Jehovahthe byLord histhrough His prophets. |
| 29:26 |
And the Levites stood with the musical instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. |
| 29:27 |
AndThen Hezekiah commandedgave the order to offer the burnt offering uponon the altar. AndWhen when the burnt offering began, the song ofto Jehovahthe beganLord also, andbegan with the trumpets, togetheraccompanied withby the instruments of David, king of Israel. |
| 29:28 |
AndWhile all the whole assembly worshippedworshiped, and the singers also sang, and the trumpeterstrumpets sounded; all this continued until the burnt offering was finished. |
| 29:29 |
AndNow whenat theythe hadcompletion madeof anthe endburnt of offeringofferings, the king and all thatwho were present with him bowed themselvesdown and worshippedworshiped. |
| 29:30 |
Moreover, King Hezekiah the king and the princesofficials commandedordered the Levites to sing praises untoto Jehovahthe Lord with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. AndSo they sang praises with gladnessjoy, and they bowed theirdown heads and worshippedworshiped. |
| 29:31 |
Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now yethat you have consecrated yourselves untoto Jehovah;the Lord, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings intoto the house of Jehovahthe Lord. And the assembly brought in sacrifices and thank offerings;, and asall manythose aswho were of a willing heart brought burnt offerings. |
| 29:32 |
And the number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was threescore70 and ten bullocksbulls, a100 hundred rams, and two200 hundred lambs:; all these were for a burnt offering to Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 29:33 |
And the consecrated things were six600 hundredbulls oxen and three3,000 thousand sheep. |
| 29:34 |
But the priests were too few, so that they couldwere notunable flayto skin all the burnt offerings:; whereforetherefore their brethrenbrothers the Levites didhelped help them, tilluntil the work was endedcompleted, and until the other priests had sanctifiedconsecrated themselves;. forFor the Levites were more uprightconscientious in heart to sanctifyconsecrate themselves than the priests. |
| 29:35 |
And there were also themany burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and with the drinklibations offerings for everythe burnt offeringofferings. SoThus the service of the house of Jehovahthe Lord was setestablished in orderagain. |
| 29:36 |
AndThen Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, becauserejoiced ofover thatwhat which God had prepared for the people:, forbecause the thing wascame doneabout suddenly. |
| 30:1 |
AndNow Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of Jehovahthe Lord at Jerusalem, to keepcelebrate the passoverPassover untoto Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel. |
| 30:2 |
For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the assembly in Jerusalem, had decided to keepcelebrate the passoverPassover in the second month., |
| 30:3 |
Forsince they could not keepcelebrate it at that time, because the priests had not sanctifiedconsecrated themselves in sufficient numbernumbers, neithernor had the people been gathered themselves together to Jerusalem. |
| 30:4 |
AndThus the thing was right in the eyessight of the king and of all the assembly. |
| 30:5 |
So they established a decree to makecirculate a proclamation throughout all Israel, from BeerBeersheba sheba even to Dan, that they should come to keepcelebrate the passoverPassover untoto Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel, at Jerusalem:. forFor they had not keptcelebrated it in great numbers in such sort as it iswas writtenprescribed. |
| 30:6 |
SoAnd the postscouriers went throughout all Israel and Judah with the letters from the hand of the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, andeven according to the commandmentcommand of the king, saying, YeO childrensons of Israel, turnreturn againto untothe Jehovah,Lord the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that heHe may return to thethose remnantof thatyou arewho escaped ofand youare outleft offrom the hand of the kings of Assyria. |
| 30:7 |
And bedo not yebe like your fathers, and like your brethrenbrothers, who trespassedwere againstunfaithful Jehovah,to the Lord God of their fathers, so that heHe gavemade them upa to desolationhorror, as yeyou see. |
| 30:8 |
Now bedo ye not stiffnecked, stiffen asyour neck like your fathers, were; but yield yourselvesto untothe Jehovah,Lord and enter intoHis his sanctuary, which heHe hathhas sanctifiedconsecrated for everforever, and serve Jehovahthe Lord your God, that hisHis fierceburning anger may turn away from you. |
| 30:9 |
For if yeyou turnreturn againto untothe JehovahLord, your brethrenbrothers and your childrensons shallwill find compassion before themthose thatwho led them captive, and shallwill comereturn againto into this land:. forFor Jehovahthe Lord your God is gracious and mercifulcompassionate, and will not turn awayHis his face away from you, if yeyou return untoto himHim. |
| 30:10 |
So the postscouriers passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, evenand untoas far as Zebulun:, but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them. |
| 30:11 |
Nevertheless certainsome men of Asher, and Manasseh, and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem. |
| 30:12 |
AlsoThe uponhand Judahof cameGod thewas handalso ofon GodJudah to give them one heart, to do thewhat commandment of the king and of the princes commanded by the word of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 30:13 |
AndNow theremany assembledpeople were gathered at Jerusalem much people to keepcelebrate the feastFeast of unleavenedUnleavened breadBread in the second month, a very greatlarge assembly. |
| 30:14 |
And they arose and tookremoved away the altars thatwhich were in Jerusalem,; andthey also removed all the altars for incense tookaltars they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron. |
| 30:15 |
Then they killedslaughtered the passoverPassover lambs on the fourteenth day of the second month:. andAnd the priests and the Levites were ashamed, of themselves and sanctifiedconsecrated themselves, and brought burnt offerings intoto the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 30:16 |
And they stood inat their placestations after their ordercustom, according to the law of Moses the man of God:; the priests sprinkled the blood which they received offrom the hand of the Levites. |
| 30:17 |
For there were many in the assembly thatwho had not sanctifiedconsecrated themselves:; therefore, the Levites hadwere over the chargeslaughter of killing the passoversPassover lambs for everyeveryone onewho that was not cleanunclean, in order to sanctifyconsecrate them untoto Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 30:18 |
For a multitude of the people, even many offrom Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not cleansedpurified themselves, yet did they eatate the passoverPassover otherwise than it is writtenprescribed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, TheMay the good JehovahLord pardon every one |
| 30:19 |
thateveryone settethwho prepares his heart to seek God, Jehovah, the Lord God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification rules of the sanctuary. |
| 30:20 |
AndSo Jehovahthe hearkenedLord toheard Hezekiah, and healed the people. |
| 30:21 |
And the childrensons of Israel that were present atin Jerusalem keptcelebrated the feastFeast of unleavenedUnleavened breadBread for seven days with great gladness;joy, and the Levites and the priests praised Jehovahthe Lord day byafter day, singing with loud instruments untoto Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 30:22 |
AndThen Hezekiah spakespoke comfortablyencouragingly untoto all the Levites thatwho hadshowed good understandinginsight in the servicethings of Jehovahthe Lord. So they didate eatfor throughout the feastappointed for the seven days, offeringsacrificing sacrifices of peace offerings, and makinggiving confessionthanks to Jehovah, the Lord God of their fathers. |
| 30:23 |
AndThen the whole assembly tookdecided counsel to keepcelebrate otherthe feast another seven days;, andso they keptcelebrated otherthe seven days with gladnessjoy. |
| 30:24 |
For Hezekiah king of Judah didhad givecontributed to the assembly for1,000 offeringsbulls a thousand bullocks and seven7,000 thousand sheep;, and the princes gavehad contributed to the assembly a1,000 thousandbulls bullocks and ten10,000 thousand sheep:; and a greatlarge number of priests sanctifiedconsecrated themselves. |
| 30:25 |
And all the assembly of Judah rejoiced, with the priests and the Levites, and all the assembly that came outfrom of Israel, andboth the sojourners thatwho came outfrom of the land of Israel, and thatthose dweltliving in Judah, rejoiced. |
| 30:26 |
So there was great joy in Jerusalem;, forbecause there was nothing like this in Jerusalem since the timedays of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem. |
| 30:27 |
Then the Levitical priests the Levites arose and blessed the people:; and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to hisHis holy habitationdwelling place, evento unto heaven. |
| 31:1 |
Now when all this was finished, all Israel thatwho were present went out to the cities of Judah, andbroke brakethe pillars in pieces the pillars, andcut hewed down the Asherim, and brakepulled down the high places and the altars outthroughout of all Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim also and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the childrensons of Israel returned, every man to histheir possessioncities, intoeach theirto ownhis citiespossession. |
| 31:2 |
And Hezekiah appointed the coursesdivisions of the priests and the Levites afterby their coursesdivisions, everyeach man according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 31:3 |

And thus Hezekiah did Hezekiah throughout all Judah; and he wroughtdid thatwhat which was good, and right, and faithfultrue before Jehovahthe Lord his God. |
| 31:21 |
And in every work thatwhich he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandmentscommandment, toseeking seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered. |
| 32:1 |
After these things, acts andof this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, and enteredinvaded into Judah, and encampedbesieged against the fortified cities, and thought to winbreak into them for himself. |
| 32:2 |
AndNow when Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib washad come, and that he wasintended purposed to fightmake againstwar on Jerusalem, |
| 32:3 |
he tookdecided counsel with his princesofficers and his mightywarriors men to stopcut off the waterssupply of water from the fountainssprings which were withoutoutside the city;, and they helped him. |
| 32:4 |
So theremany was gathered much people together, assembled and they stopped up all the fountains, springs and the brookstream thatwhich flowed through the midst of the landregion, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find muchabundant water? |
| 32:5 |
And he took courage, and builtrebuilt up all the wall that washad been broken down, and raisederected ittowers upon to the towersit, and thebuilt otheranother outside wall without, and strengthened the Millo in the city of David, and made weapons and shields in abundancegreat number. |
| 32:6 |
And he setappointed captainsmilitary ofofficers war over the people, and gathered them together to him in the broadsquare place at the city gate of the city, and spakespoke comfortablyencouragingly to them, saying, |
| 32:7 |
Be strong and of good couragecourageous, bedo not afraidfear noror be dismayed forbecause of the king of Assyria, nor forbecause of all the multitude thatwhich is with him; for therethe isone a greater with us is greater than the one with him:. |
| 32:8 |
withWith him is only an arm of flesh;, but with us is Jehovahthe Lord our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people restedrelied themselveson upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah. |
| 32:9 |
After this did Sennacherib king of Assyria sendsent his servants to Jerusalem nowwhile he was beforebesieging Lachish, andwith all his powerforces with him, untoagainst Hezekiah king of Judah, and untoagainst all Judah thatwho were at Jerusalem, saying, |
| 32:10 |
Thus saithsays Sennacherib king of Assyria, WhereonOn dowhat yeare trust, you trusting that yeyou abideare theremaining siege in Jerusalem under siege? |
| 32:11 |
DothIs not Hezekiah persuademisleading you, to give youyourselves over to die by faminehunger and by thirst, saying, JehovahThe Lord our God will deliver us outfrom of the hand of the king of Assyria ? |
| 32:12 |
HathHas not the same Hezekiah taken away hisHis high places and hisHis altars, and commandedsaid to Judah and Jerusalem, saying,You Ye shall worship before one altar, and uponon it you shall ye burn incense ? |
| 32:13 |
KnowDo yeyou not know what I and my fathers have done untoto all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands inable anyat wiseall able to deliver their land outfrom of my hand? |
| 32:14 |
Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed, thatwho could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you outfrom of my hand? |
| 32:15 |
Now therefore, letdo not let Hezekiah deceive you, noror persuademislead you afterlike this manner, neitherand do not believe ye him;, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people outfrom of my hand, andor outfrom of the hand of my fathers:. howHow much less shall your God deliver you outfrom of my hand? |
| 32:16 |
And his servants spakespoke yetfurther more against Jehovahthe Lord God, and against hisHis servant Hezekiah. |
| 32:17 |
He also wrote also letters, to railinsult onthe Jehovah,Lord the God of Israel, and to speak against himHim, saying, As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people outfrom of my hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah shall not deliver hisHis people outfrom of my hand. |
| 32:18 |
And they criedcalled this out with a loud voice in the Jews language untoof Judah to the people of Jerusalem thatwho were on the wall, to affrightfrighten them, and toterrify trouble them;, so that they might take the city. |
| 32:19 |
And they spakespoke of the God of Jerusalem, as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of mens hands. |
| 32:20 |
AndBut King Hezekiah the king, and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed becauseabout of this, and cried out to heaven. |
| 32:21 |
And Jehovahthe Lord sent an angel, who cutdestroyed offevery all the mighty men of valorwarrior, andcommander the leaders and captains, officer in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned within shame of face to his own land. And when he washad comeentered into the housetemple of his god, theysome thatof came forth from his own bowelschildren slewkilled him there with the sword. |
| 32:22 |
ThusSo Jehovahthe Lord saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria, and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side. |
| 32:23 |
And many broughtwere bringing gifts untoto Jehovahthe toLord at Jerusalem, and preciouschoice thingspresents to Hezekiah king of Judah;, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from thenceforththereafter. |
| 32:24 |
In those days Hezekiah wasbecame sickmortally evenill; unto death: and he prayed untoto Jehovah;the Lord, and hethe spakeLord untospoke to him, and gave him a sign. |
| 32:25 |
But Hezekiah renderedgave notno againreturn accordingfor to the benefit donehe untoreceived, him;because for his heart was liftedproud; up: therefore therewrath wascame wrathon upon him, and uponon Judah and Jerusalem. |
| 32:26 |
Notwithstanding However,Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of Jehovahthe cameLord did not uponcome on them in the days of Hezekiah. |
| 32:27 |
AndNow Hezekiah had exceedingimmense much riches and honor:; and he providedmade himfor himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all mannerkinds of goodlyvaluable vessels;articles, |
| 32:28 |
storestorehouses houses also for the increaseproduce of grain, and new wine and oil;, andpens stalls for all mannerkinds of beasts, cattle and flockssheepfolds infor foldsthe flocks. |
| 32:29 |
MoreoverAnd he providedmade himcities citiesfor himself, and possessionsacquired of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him very muchgreat substancewealth. |
| 32:30 |
ThisIt samewas Hezekiah alsowho stopped the upper springoutlet of the waters of Gihon, and broughtdirected them straightto down on the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all histhat workshe did. |
| 32:31 |
HowbeitAnd even in the businessmatter of the ambassadorsenvoys of the princesrulers of Babylon, who sent untoto him to inquire of the wonder that washad donehappened in the land, God left him, alone only to trytest him, that heHe might know all that was in his heart. |
| 32:32 |
Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and his gooddeeds deedsof devotion, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, in the bookBook of the kingsKings of Judah and Israel. |
| 32:33 |
AndSo Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascentupper section of the sepulchrestombs of the sons of David:; and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem didhonored him honor at his death. And Manasseh his son reignedManasseh became king in his steadplace. |
| 33:1 |
Manasseh was twelve years old when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. |
| 33:2 |
And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, the afterLord according to the abominations of the nations whom Jehovahthe castLord outdispossessed before the childrensons of Israel. |
| 33:3 |
For he builtrebuilt again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; and he rearedalso uperected altars for the Baalim,Baals and made AsherothAsherim, and worshippedworshiped all the host of heaven, and served them. |
| 33:4 |
And he built altars in the house of Jehovah, the whereofLord Jehovahof which the Lord had said, InMy Jerusalemname shall mybe namein beJerusalem for everforever. |
| 33:5 |
AndFor he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 33:6 |
HeAnd alsohe made his childrensons to pass through the fire in the valley of theBen son of Hinnomhinnom; and he practisedpracticed augurywitchcraft, and used enchantmentsdivination, andpracticed practised sorcery, and dealt with themmediums that had familiar spirits, and withspiritists. wizards:He hedid wrought much evil in the sight of Jehovahthe Lord, toprovoking provokeHim him to anger. |
| 33:7 |
AndThen he setput the gravencarved image of the idol, which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen outfrom of all the tribes of Israel, I will I put myMy name for ever:forever; |
| 33:8 |
neitherand I will Inot anyagain more remove the foot of Israel from off the land which I have appointed for your fathers, if only they will observe to do all that I have commanded them, evenaccording to all the law, and the statutes, and the ordinances given bythrough Moses. |
| 33:9 |
AndThus Manasseh seducedmisled Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, soto thatdo theymore did evil more than did the nations whom Jehovahthe Lord destroyed before the childrensons of Israel. |
| 33:10 |
And Jehovahthe spakeLord spoke to Manasseh, and to his people;, but they gavepaid no heedattention. |
| 33:11 |
WhereforeTherefore Jehovahthe Lord brought upon them the captainscommanders of the hostarmy of the king of Assyria against them, whoand tookthey captured Manasseh inwith chainshooks, and bound him with fettersbronze chains, and carriedtook him to Babylon. |
| 33:12 |
And when he was in distress, he besoughtentreated Jehovahthe Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. |
| 33:13 |
AndWhen he prayed untoto him;Him, andHe he was entreatedmoved ofby him,his entreaty and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem intoto his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that Jehovahthe heLord was God. |
| 33:14 |
Now after this he built anthe outer wall toof the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entrance atof the fishFish gateGate; and he compassedencircled the Ophel about with it, and raisedmade it up to a very greathigh. height:Then and he put valiantarmy captainscommanders in all the fortified cities of Judah. |
| 33:15 |
AndHe healso tookremoved away the foreign gods, and the idol outfrom of the house of Jehovahthe Lord, andas well as all the altars thatwhich he had built inon the mountmountain of the house of Jehovah, the Lord and in Jerusalem, and casthe threw them outoutside of the city. |
| 33:16 |
And he builtset up the altar of Jehovah, the Lord and offeredsacrificed thereonpeace sacrificesofferings ofand peacethank offerings andon ofit; thanksgiving, and commandedhe ordered Judah to serve Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel. |
| 33:17 |
Nevertheless the people still sacrificed still in the high places, butalthough only untoto Jehovahthe Lord their God. |
| 33:18 |
Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, andeven his prayer untoto his God, and the words of the seers thatwho spakespoke to him in the name of Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel, behold, they are written among the actsrecords of the kings of Israel. |
| 33:19 |
His prayer also, and how God was entreated ofby him, and all his sin, and his trespassunfaithfulness, and the placessites whereinon which he built high places, and seterected up the Asherim and the gravencarved images, before he humbled himself, behold, they are written in the historyrecords of the Hozai. |
| 33:20 |
So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house:. andAnd Amon his son reignedbecame king in his steadplace. |
| 33:21 |
Amon was twenty and two years old when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. |
| 33:22 |
And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, the Lord as did Manasseh his father; had done, and Amon sacrificed untoto all the gravencarved images which Manasseh his father Manasseh had made, and he served them. |
| 33:23 |
AndMoreover, he humbleddid not humble himself before Jehovah, the Lord as Manasseh his father Manasseh had humbleddone, himself; but this same Amon trespassedmultiplied more and moreguilt. |
| 33:24 |
AndFinally his servants conspired against him, and put him to death in his own house. |
| 33:25 |
But the people of the land slewkilled all themthe thatconspirators had conspired against kingKing Amon;, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his steadplace. |
| 34:1 |
Josiah was eight years old when he beganbecame toking, reign; and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. |
| 34:2 |
And he did that which was right in the eyessight of Jehovahthe Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father, David and turneddid not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. |
| 34:3 |
For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yetstill younga youth, he began to seek after the God of David his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem fromof the high places, and the Asherim, and the gravencarved images, and the molten images. |
| 34:4 |
And they braketore down the altars of the BaalimBaals in his presence;, and the sunincense imagesaltars that were on high above them he hewedchopped down; andalso the Asherim, and the gravencarved images, and the molten images, he brakebroke in pieces, and madeground dustto ofpowder them, and strewedscattered it uponon the graves of themthose thatwho had sacrificed untoto them. |
| 34:5 |
AndThen he burntburned the bones of the priests uponon their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem. |
| 34:6 |
And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even untoas far as Naphtali, in their surrounding ruins round about., |
| 34:7 |
And he brakealso tore down the altars, and beat the Asherim and the gravencarved images into powder, and hewedchopped down all the sunincense imagesaltars throughout all the land of Israel,. andThen he returned to Jerusalem. |
| 34:8 |
Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah thean governorofficial of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of Jehovahthe Lord his God. |
| 34:9 |
And they came to Hilkiah the high priest, and delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites, the keepers of the thresholddoorkeepers, had gatheredcollected offrom the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and offrom all the remnant of Israel, and offrom all Judah and Benjamin, and of the inhabitants of Jerusalem. |
| 34:10 |
AndThen they deliveredgave it into the handhands of the workmen thatwho had the oversight of the house of Jehovah;the Lord, and the workmen thatwho wroughtwere working in the house of Jehovahthe gaveLord used it to mendrestore and repair the house:. |
| 34:11 |
evenThey in turn gave it to the carpenters and to the builders gave they it, to buy hewnquarried stone, and timber for couplings, and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyedlet go to ruin. |
| 34:12 |
And the men did the work faithfully: andwith theforemen overseersover of them wereto supervise: Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari;, and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and others of the Levites, all thatwho were skilfulskillful with musical instruments of music. |
| 34:13 |
AlsoThey they were also over the burden bearers of burdens, and setsupervised forward all that did the workworkmen infrom everyjob mannerto ofjob; service: and some of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, officials and portersgatekeepers. |
| 34:14 |
AndWhen when they broughtwere bringing out the money thatwhich washad been brought into the house of Jehovahthe Lord, Hilkiah the priest found the book of the law of Jehovahthe Lord given by Moses. |
| 34:15 |
And Hilkiah answeredresponded and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of Jehovahthe Lord. And Hilkiah deliveredgave the book to Shaphan. |
| 34:16 |
AndThen Shaphan carriedbrought the book to the king, and moreoverreported broughtfurther back word to the king, saying, AllEverything that was committedentrusted to thyyour servants, they are doing. |
| 34:17 |
AndThey they have also emptied out the money thatwhich was found in the house of Jehovahthe Lord, and have delivered it into the handhands of the overseers, supervisors and into the hand of the workmen. |
| 34:18 |
AndMoreover, Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hathgave delivered me a book. And Shaphan read thereinfrom beforeit in the presence of the king. |
| 34:19 |
And it came toabout pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he renttore his clothes. |
| 34:20 |
AndThen the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the kings servant, saying, |
| 34:21 |
Go ye, inquire of Jehovahthe Lord for me, and for themthose thatwho are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book thatwhich ishas been found; for great is the wrath of Jehovahthe thatLord which is poured out uponon us, because our fathers have not keptobserved the word of Jehovahthe Lord, to do according untoto all that is written in this book. |
| 34:22 |
So Hilkiah, and theythose whom the king had commanded, told went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tokhath, the son of Hasrah, the keeper of the wardrobe now she dweltlived in Jerusalem in the secondSecond quarterQuarter; and they spakespoke to her toregarding that effectthis. |
| 34:23 |
And she said untoto them, Thus saithsays Jehovahthe Lord, the God of Israel:, Tell ye the man thatwho sent you untoto meMe, |
| 34:24 |
Thusthus saithsays Jehovahthe Lord, Behold, I willam bringbringing evil uponon this place, and uponon theits inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read beforein the presence of the king of Judah. |
| 34:25 |
Because they have forsaken me,Me and have burned incense untoto other gods, that they might provoke meMe to anger with all the works of their hands;, therefore isMy my wrath will be poured out uponon this place, and it shall not be quenched. |
| 34:26 |
But untoto the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Jehovahthe Lord, thus shallyou yewill say to him, Thus saithsays Jehovah, the Lord God of Israel: Asregarding touching the words which thouyou hasthave heard, |
| 34:27 |
becauseBecause thyyour heart was tender, and thouyou didsthumbled humbleyourself thyself before God, when thouyou heardestheard hisHis words against this place, and against theits inhabitants thereof, and hastbecause you humbled thyselfyourself before meMe, andtore hastyour rent thy clothes, and wept before me;Me, I alsotruly have heard theeyou, saithdeclares Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 34:28 |
Behold, I will gather theeyou to thyyour fathers, and thouyou shaltshall be gathered to thyyour grave in peace, neitherso your eyes shall thinenot eyes see all the evil thatwhich I will bring uponon this place, and uponon theits inhabitants thereof. And they brought back word to the king. |
| 34:29 |
Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. |
| 34:30 |
And the king went up to the house of Jehovah, the Lord and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, bothfrom greatthe andgreatest small:to the least; and he read in their earshearing all the words of the book of the covenant thatwhich was found in the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 34:31 |
AndThen the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before Jehovah, the Lord to walk after Jehovahthe Lord, and to keep hisHis commandments, and hisHis testimonies, and hisHis statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book. |
| 34:32 |
AndMoreover, he causedmade all thatwho were foundpresent in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand towith ithim. AndSo the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers. |
| 34:33 |
And Josiah tookremoved away all the abominations outfrom of all the countrieslands thatbelonging pertained to the childrensons of Israel, and made all thatwho were foundpresent in Israel to serve, eventhe toLord serve Jehovah their God. AllThroughout his dayslifetime they departeddid not turn from following Jehovah, the Lord God of their fathers. |
| 35:1 |
AndThen Josiah keptcelebrated athe passoverPassover untoto Jehovahthe Lord in Jerusalem:, and they killedslaughtered the passoverPassover animals on the fourteenth day of the first month. |
| 35:2 |
And he set the priests in their offices, and encouraged them toin the service of the house of Jehovahthe Lord. |
| 35:3 |
AndHe healso said untoto the Levites thatwho taught all Israel, thatand who were holy untoto Jehovahthe Lord, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did buildbuilt; thereit shallwill no more be a burden uponon your shoulders no longer. Now serve Jehovahthe Lord your God, and hisHis people Israel;. |
| 35:4 |
andAnd prepare yourselves afterby your fathers houseshouseholds byin your coursesdivisions, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son Solomon. |
| 35:5 |
AndMoreover, stand in the holy place according to the divisionssections of the fathers houseshouseholds of your brethren the childrenlay of the people, and letaccording thereto bethe forLevites, eachby adivision portion of a fathers house of the Leviteshousehold. |
| 35:6 |
AndNow killslaughter the passoverPassover animals, and sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brethren, to do according to the word of Jehovahthe Lord by Moses. |
| 35:7 |
And Josiah gavecontributed to the childrenlay of the people, ofto theall flockwho were present, flocks of lambs and kids, all of them for the passoverPassover offerings, untonumbering all that were present30,000 toplus the number of thirty thousand3,000 andbulls; three thousand bullocks: these were offrom the kings substancepossessions. |
| 35:8 |
AndHis hisofficers princesalso gavecontributed for a freewill offering untoto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, the rulersofficials of the house of God, gave untoto the priests for the passoverPassover offerings two2,600 thousandfrom andthe sixflocks hundred small cattle, and three300 hundred oxenbulls. |
| 35:9 |
Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethanel, his brethrenbrothers, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, the chiefsofficers of the Levites, gavecontributed untoto the Levites for the passoverPassover offerings five5,000 thousandfrom smallthe cattle, flocks and five500 hundred oxenbulls. |
| 35:10 |
So the service was prepared, and the priests stood inat their place, stations and the Levites by their courses, divisions according to the kings commandmentcommand. |
| 35:11 |
And they killedslaughtered the passoverPassover animals, and while the priests sprinkled the blood which they received offrom their hand, and the Levites flayedskinned them. |
| 35:12 |
AndThen they removed the burnt offerings, that they might give them according to the divisionssections of the fathers houseshouseholds of the childrenlay ofpeople theto people, present to offerthe unto JehovahLord, as it is written in the book of Moses. AndThey so did theythis also with the oxenbulls. |
| 35:13 |
AndSo they roasted the passoverPassover withanimals on the fire according to the ordinance:, and they boiled the holy offeringsthings boiled they in pots, and in caldronskettles, and in pans, and carried them quicklyspeedily to all the childrenlay of the people. |
| 35:14 |
And afterwardafterwards they prepared for themselves, and for the priests, because the priests, the sons of Aaron, were busied in offering the burnt offerings and the fat until night:; therefore the Levites prepared for themselves, and for the priests, the sons of Aaron. |
| 35:15 |
AndThe the singers, the sons of Asaph, were inalso at their place, stations according to the commandmentcommand of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun the kings seer; and the portersgatekeepers were at everyeach gate: theydid needed not have to depart from their service;, forbecause the Levites their brethren the Levites prepared for them. |
| 35:16 |
So all the service of Jehovahthe Lord was prepared theon samethat day, to keepcelebrate the passoverPassover, and to offer burnt offerings uponon the altar of Jehovah, the Lord according to the commandmentcommand of kingKing Josiah. |
