18:9 AndNow when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smittendefeated all the hostarmy of HadarezerHadadezer king of Zobah,
18:10 he sent Hadoram his son to kingKing David, to salutegreet him, and to bless him, because he had fought against HadarezerHadadezer and smittenhad defeated him; for HadarezerHadadezer had warsbeen at war with Tou;. andAnd heHadoram hadbrought with him all mannerkinds of vesselsarticles of gold and silver and brassbronze.
18:11 TheseKing David also diddedicated kingthese Davidto dedicatethe untoLord Jehovah, with the silver and the gold thatwhich he had carried away from all the nations;: from Edom, and from Moab, and from the childrensons of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
18:12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah smotedefeated of18,000 the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand.
18:13 AndThen he put garrisons in Edom;, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovahthe gaveLord victoryhelped to David whithersoeverwherever he went.
18:14 AndSo David reigned over all Israel; and he executedadministered justice and righteousness untofor all his people.
18:15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host;army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
18:16 and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests;, and Shavsha was scribesecretary;
18:17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites;, and the sons of David were chiefchiefs aboutat the kingkings side.
19:1 AndNow it came toabout pass after this, that Nahash the king of the childrensons of Ammon died, and his son reignedbecame king in his steadplace.
19:2 AndThen David said, I will show kindness untoto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me. So David sent messengers to comfortconsole him concerning his father. And Davids servants came into the land of the childrensons of Ammon to Hanun, to comfortconsole him.
19:3 But the princes of the childrensons of Ammon said to Hanun, ThinkestDo thouyou think that David dothis honorhonoring thyyour father, in that he hathhas sent comforters untoto theeyou? areHave not his servants come untoto theeyou to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?
19:4 So Hanun took Davids servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the middle, evenas tofar as their buttockships, and sent them away.
19:5 Then there went certain persons, went and told David howabout the men were served. And he sent to meet them;, for the men were greatly ashamedhumiliated. And the king said, TarryStay at Jericho until your beards be growngrow, and then return.
19:6 AndWhen when the childrensons of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the childrensons of Ammon sent a1,000 thousand talents of silver to hire themfor themselves chariots and horsemen outfrom of Mesopotamia, andfrom out of Aram maacah, and outfrom of Zobah.
19:7 So they hired themfor thirtythemselves and32,000 two thousand chariots, and the king of Maacah and his people, who came and encampedcamped before Medeba. And the childrensons of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.
19:8 AndWhen when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the hostarmy, of the mighty men.
19:9 And the childrensons of Ammon came out, and putdrew theup in battle in array at the gateentrance of the city:, and the kings thatwho werehad come were by themselves in the field.
19:10 Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him beforein front and behindin the rear, he choseselected offrom all the choice men of Israel, and putthey themarrayed inthemselves array against the SyriansArameans.
19:11 AndBut the restremainder of the people he committedplaced intoin the hand of AbishaiAbshai his brother; and they putarrayed themselves in array against the childrensons of Ammon.
19:12 And he said, If the SyriansArameans beare too strong for me, then thouyou shaltshall help me; but if the childrensons of Ammon beare too strong for theeyou, then I will help theeyou.
19:13 Be of good couragestrong, and let us playshow theourselves mancourageous for the sake of our people, and for the cities of our God:; and Jehovahmay the Lord do thatwhat whichis seemethgood himin goodHis sight.
19:14 So Joab and the people thatwho were with him drew nighnear beforeto the Syriansbattle untoagainst the battle;Arameans, and they fled before him.
19:15 AndWhen when the childrensons of Ammon saw that the SyriansArameans were fled, they likewisealso fled before AbishaiAbshai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.
19:16 AndWhen when the SyriansArameans saw that they werehad putbeen todefeated theby worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drewbrought forthout the SyriansArameans thatwho were beyond the River, with Shophach the captaincommander of the hostarmy of HadarezerHadadezer atleading their headthem.
19:17 AndWhen it was told David;, and he gathered all Israel together, and passedcrossed over the Jordan, and came upon them, and setdrew theup battle in arrayformation against them. SoAnd when David haddrew putup thein battle in array against the SyriansArameans, they fought withagainst him.
19:18 And the SyriansArameans fled before Israel;, and David slewkilled of the SyriansArameans the7,000 mencharioteers ofand seven40,000 thousandfoot chariotssoldiers, and fortyput thousandto footmen, death and killed Shophach the captaincommander of the hostarmy.
19:19 AndSo when the servants of HadarezerHadadezer saw that they were putdefeated toby the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and served him:. neitherThus would the SyriansArameans were not willing to help the childrensons of Ammon any moreanymore.
20:1 AndThen it camehappened toin pass, at the time of the return of the yearspring, at the time when kings go out to battle, that Joab led forthout the army, and wastedravaged the countryland of the childrensons of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarriedstayed at Jerusalem. And Joab smotestruck Rabbah, and overthrew it.
20:2 And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and he found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there werewas a precious stonesstone in it; and it was setplaced uponon Davids head:. andAnd he brought forthout the spoil of the city, exceedinga muchvery great amount.
20:3 And he brought forthout the people thatwho were thereinin it, and cut them with saws, and with harrowssharp ofinstruments iron, and with axes. And thus David did Davidto unto all the cities of the childrensons of Ammon. AndThen David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
20:4 AndNow it came toabout pass after this, that therewar arosebroke warout at Gezer with the Philistines:; then Sibbecai the Hushathite slewkilled Sippai, one of the sonsdescendants of the giant;giants, and they were subdued.
20:5 And there was again war with the Philistines; again, and Elhanan the son of Jair slewkilled Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staffshaft of whose spear was like a weavers beam.
20:6 And again there was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, whosewho fingershad andtwenty toesfour werefingers four and twentytoes, six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot; and he also was borndescended untofrom the giantgiants.
20:7 And when he defiedtaunted Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea, Davids brother, slewkilled him.
20:8 These were borndescended untofrom the giantgiants in Gath;, and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.
21:1 AndThen Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.
21:2 AndSo David said to Joab and to the princes of the people, Go, number Israel from BeerBeersheba sheba even to Dan;, and bring me word, that I may know thetheir sum of themnumber.
21:3 And Joab said, JehovahMay makethe hisLord add to His people a hundred times as many as they are:! butBut, my Lord the king, are they not all my Lords servants? whyWhy dothdoes my Lord requireseek this thing? whyWhy willshould he be a cause of guilt untoto Israel?
21:4 Nevertheless, the kings word prevailed against Joab. WhereforeTherefore, Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
21:5 And Joab gave up the sumnumber of the numberingcensus of all the people untoto David. And all they of Israel were a1,100,000 thousand thousand and a hundred thousand men thatwho drew the sword:; and Judah was four470,000 hundred threescore and ten thousand men thatwho drew the sword.
21:6 But he did not number Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them;, for the kings wordcommand was abominableabhorrent to Joab.
21:7 And God was displeased with this thing;, thereforeso heHe smotestruck Israel.
21:8 And David said untoto God, I have sinned greatly, in that I have done this thing:. butBut now, putplease take away, I beseech thee, the iniquity of thyThy servant;, for I have done very foolishly.
21:9 And Jehovahthe spakeLord untospoke to Gad, Davids seer, saying,
21:10 Go and speak untoto David, saying, Thus saithsays Jehovahthe Lord, I offer theeyou three things:; choose theefor yourself one of them, that I may do it untoto theeyou.
21:11 So Gad came to David, and said untoto him, Thus saithsays Jehovahthe Lord, Take whichfor thou wilt:yourself
21:12 either three years of famine;, or three months to be consumedswept away before thyyour foes, while the sword of thineyour enemies overtakethovertakes thee;you, or else three days of the sword of Jehovahthe Lord, even pestilence in the land, and the angel of Jehovahthe Lord destroying throughout all the bordersterritory of Israel. Now, therefore, consider what answer I shall return to himHim thatwho sent me.
21:13 And David said untoto Gad, I am in a great strait:distress; please let me fall, I pray, into the hand of Jehovah;the Lord, for His mercies are very great. areBut hisdo mercies:not and let me not fall into the hand of man.
21:14 So Jehovahthe Lord sent a pestilence uponon Israel; and70,000 theremen fell of Israel seventy thousand menfell.
21:15 And God sent an angel untoto Jerusalem to destroy it:; andbut as he was about to destroy it, Jehovahthe beheld,Lord saw and hewas repentedsorry himover of the evilcalamity, and said to the destroying angel, It is enough; now stayrelax thyyour hand. And the angel of Jehovahthe Lord was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
21:16 AndThen David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of Jehovahthe Lord standing between earth and heaven, havingwith ahis drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders, clothedcovered inwith sackcloth, fell uponon their faces.
21:17 And David said untoto God, Is it not I thatwho commanded to count the people to be numbered? evenIndeed, I itam isthe thatone havewho has sinned and done very wickedly;, but these sheep, what have they done? letO thyLord hand,my I pray theeGod, Oplease Jehovahlet myThy God,hand be against me, and against my fathers house;household, but not against thyThy people, that they should be plagued.
21:18 Then the angel of Jehovahthe Lord commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and rearbuild an altar untoto Jehovahthe inLord on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
21:19 AndSo David went up at the sayingword of Gad, which he spakespoke in the name of Jehovahthe Lord.
21:20 AndNow Ornan turned back, and saw the angel;, and his four sons thatwho were with him hid themselves. NowAnd Ornan was threshing wheat.
21:21 And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out offrom the threshing floor, and bowedprostrated himself tobefore David with his face to the ground.
21:22 Then David said to Ornan, Give me the placesite of this threshing floor, that I may build thereonon it an altar untoto Jehovah:the Lord; for the full price shaltyou thoushall give it to me, that the plague may be stayedrestrained from the people.
21:23 And Ornan said untoto David, Take it tofor thee, yourself; and let my Lord the king do thatwhat which is good in his eyes:sight. loSee, I will give thee the oxen for burnt offerings, and the threshing instrumentssledges for wood, and the wheat for the mealgrain offering; I will give it all.
21:24 AndBut kingKing David said to Ornan, Nay;No, but I will verilysurely buy it for the full price:; for I will not take thatwhat which is thineyours for Jehovahthe Lord, noror offer a burnt offering withoutwhich costcosts me nothing.
21:25 So David gave to Ornan for600 the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight for the site.
21:26 AndThen David built there an altar untoto Jehovahthe Lord there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings,. andAnd he called uponto Jehovah;the Lord and heHe answered him with fire from heaven byon fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
21:27 And Jehovahthe Lord commanded the angel;, and he put up his sword againback intoin theits sheath thereof.
21:28 At that time, when David saw that Jehovahthe Lord had answered him inon the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificedoffered sacrifice there.
21:29 For the tabernacle of Jehovahthe Lord, which Moses had made in the wilderness, and the altar of burnt offering, were at that time in the high place at Gibeon at that time.
21:30 But David could not go before it to inquire of God;, for he was afraidterrified becauseby of the sword of the angel of Jehovahthe Lord.
22:1 Then David said, This is the house of Jehovahthe Lord God, and this is the altar of burnt offering for Israel.
22:2 AndSo David commandedgave orders to gather together the sojournersforeigners thatwho were in the land of Israel;, and he set masonsstonecutters to hew wroughtout stones to build the house of God.

22:7 And David said to Solomon, hisMy son, AsI forhad me,intended it was in my heart to build a house untoto the name of Jehovahthe Lord my God.
22:8 But the word of Jehovahthe Lord came to me, saying, ThouYou hasthave shed much blood abundantly, and hasthave madewaged great wars:; thouyou shaltshall not build a house untoto myMy name, because thouyou hasthave shed so much blood uponon the earth inbefore my sightMe.
22:9 Behold, a son shall be born to theeyou, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies roundon aboutevery side; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietnessquiet untoto Israel in his days.
22:10 He shall build a house for myMy name;, and he shall be myMy son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for everforever.
22:11 Now, my son, Jehovahthe Lord be with thee;you andthat prosperyou thoumay be successful, and build the house of Jehovahthe thyLord your God, just as heHe hathhas spoken concerning theeyou.
22:12 Only Jehovahthe Lord give theeyou discretion and understanding, and give theeyou charge concerningover Israel;, so that soyou thoumay mayest keep the law of Jehovahthe thyLord your God.
22:13 Then shaltyou thoushall prosper, if thouyou observeare careful to doobserve the statutes and the ordinances which Jehovahthe chargedLord commanded Moses with concerning Israel:. beBe strong, and ofcourageous, gooddo courage;not fear not,nor neither be dismayed.
22:14 Now, behold, inwith mygreat afflictionpains I have prepared for the house of Jehovahthe aLord hundred100,000 thousand talents of gold, and a1,000,000 thousand thousand talents of silver, and ofbronze brass and iron withoutbeyond weight;, for itthey isare in abundance:great timberquantity; also timber and stone I have I prepared;, and thouyou mayestmay add theretoto them.

22:16 ofOf the gold, the silver, and the brass, bronze and the iron, there is no numberlimit. Arise and be doingwork, and Jehovahmay the Lord be with theeyou.
22:17 David also commanded all the princesleaders of Israel to help Solomon his son Solomon, saying,
